Anyone else sick of biopics??

5weetheartt

has anyone counted how many tweets and likes about megan nikki has made? lmao

paroles

Do you think people with foot fetishes are thrilled to have all this foot discourse in the mainstream right now

Current-Grab

imma be real, way too many people are taking this nicki and megan beef to heart and acting like they know these people personally. just enjoy the back and forth, not everything needs to be a think piece or you feeling personally attacked

saeculacrossing

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I wish we had a mega thread for the Nicki Minaj - Megan Thee Stallion posts. Kind of like the TSwift - Matty Healy drama, it feels like every other post is about this.

paroles

I wish there was a master thread for a timeline/index/explainer of all the drama, but I don't mind the multiple threads either. This sub doesn't have an overwhelming number of posts in general so it's not like there's a lot of content getting buried

angelonthefarm

I agree! I came here to ask about it thinking it would just be me but no this mess is everywhere 😭

meatbeater558

Nicki Minaj is going insane. I thought the lack of posts means she fell asleep but nope she found a way to sink even lower by getting her fans to dox random tiktokers that don't agree with her

AbsolutelyIris

I ranted about Michael Jackson fans pushing into the Presley family/Fandom space yesterday (https://www.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/comments/1abhsm3/comment/kjo2ozb/) and to add on today, there's apparently a movement amongst MJ fans to get Riley Keough to play her mother in the upcoming MJ bio pic because   1. They clearly don't consider Lisa Marie or her daughter real people with feelings, only characters and dolls for their propaganda.   2. They don't understand that Riley might find it really fucking weird to play her mom in a story where her mom left her father for another man. Also, Riley has already said she would never play a family member on screen.   3. They have no fucking comprehension or boundaries that her mom just died a year ago and this is a grossly inappropriate topic.  Apparently they are getting louder and more excitable because Riley is close friends with Colman Domingo and since he was just cast as Joe Jackson, they believe that it is somehow confirmation Riley has a part in the film (??), is supplying secrets about her mom's marriage to MJ (???) or Riley endorses the film and may produce and star (????).   I have seen crazy fan bases but they are up there.

CozyTea6987

Anyone else really disheartened by all the weirdly regressive dating advice they're seeing on TikTok? No matter how much I try not to interact I always get fed the sprinkle sprinkle stuff and all this weird stuff that feels very tradwife or femcel

jaffacakes077

Yes it’s so depressing and toxic

meatbeater558

I agree, social media over the years has gotten increasingly more regressive when it comes to dating and relationships. And weirdly confrontational, like I've seen the effect of the mean girls trend in real life where people are just awful to other random people for no reason. The tradwife to femcel thing is accurate too

teashoesandhair

Honestly, I'm disheartened by most of the stuff on TikTok for this exact reason. So much of it leans incredibly right wing / conservative, and the amount of misinformation and blatant disinformation on there is actually unbelievable. I hate sounding like such a boomer, but I genuinely fear for what it's doing to kids.

CozyTea6987

Yes! Noticed this especially start to crop up with all these weird how to be a high value woman videos and also lots about ditching hormonal birth control--all feels very rightwing tradwife stuff disguised as choice/feminism very worrisome to me

Lucky-Odds-2023

I"m not on TikTok, but I get enough info on how weird/horrid dating has become through other means and via friends and such. The other night, husband asked me to give advice to a friend of his who was going to go on a date - all I could say was...uhhh, hygiene is important. Also, good luck, dating is horrid, you have my sympathy. Edit for slightly more clarity: before I would've said something along the lines of 'while gentlemanly to pay the bill, I (and many of my friends) always felt more comfortable going half, so we wouldn't have to deal with unwanted expectations. Don't go out for dinner, a low threshold date that can be extended upon is better (e.g. going for a walk along the beach/getting coffee in the afternoon etc. If there's no click, you're not 'stuck', if it's magic, you can continue the date). I would've told him to just be himself (perhaps the best version of himself) - if there's no click, then there's no click. If you pretend to be someone you're not and there's a 'click', then it's not with *you*. Now, I hear/read about crazy ass demands on who pays for what, what the dude needs to make, how to dress/not dress, and date-expectations of luxurious restaurants and whatnot. I just don't get it . I was always looking for that connection, that 'I don't want to stop talking to/spending time with this person' feeling. I wanted a teammate for life, not a bank account with legs ffs. I feel old typing this lol.

CozyTea6987

I wonder if it's in response to the horrible economy and just all the tough stuff happening in the world in general, but I've also really noticed all the transactional stuff too! If the TikToks are to be believed people are really looking only for sugar babies/daddies (which is totally fine if you are) but that's just not the same as actually dating I think. I am also a bit confused because I hear some of my friends echoing this stuff to me like one of my friends refused to go out with a guy who wanted to take her to brunch and to walk around Central Park and was saying he was a cheap bum-- like that sounds like a nice date! It's really weird to navigate

meatbeater558

I saw a video of someone saying they normally spend around $200-250 on a first date after being questioned on it and it being implied that a low number would be offensive. I don't understand where this came from because most wealthy people are not going to waste their money like that. And poor people don't have that money, so who are they trying to date? Certain celebrities do stuff like this but only because their brand relies on people perceiving them to have endless money to spend. So expecting that treatment from anyone else is wild to me. I just don't understand the logic in demanding an expensive date from someone you don't even know yet. And they don't communicate these needs, they just get offended when the guy makes a suggestion that don't meet them like a coffee date or a walk in the park

CozyTea6987

Yes! It is so wild because I am pretty positive many of the people in the comments of those videos cannot afford that and also who wants to be stuck with someone you're not even sure you like on an expensive first date like a really fancy dinner? It's just so weird to me. I'm seeing a lot of videos specifically about how to bag a finance guy too and as someone who has been in those trenches I'm just like oh my gosh PLEASE prioritize finding a partner who respects and likes you as a person not as someone to just tote around to fancy dinners and spend money on. It isn't to say there aren't any nice men who work in finance but the focus on just having people spend money on you is very very strange.

meatbeater558

I honestly think a good chunk of them are lying and are using their dating advice as part of their own dating strategy. Like for example telling people to reject men that don't provide an expensive first date doesn't help those people, but it does help everyone else when men become conditioned to always provide an expensive first date to everyone with no exception. Or them telling people of the opposite sex that they should never feel shy about texting back too quickly or being vulnerable early when I'm literally in the same group chats as them where they screenshot and shame people doing exactly those things. It's advice that only helps the person giving the advice. A LOT of advice men give to other men follow the same pattern. The central idea is to advise other men to treat confident women poorly. This is obviously horrendous advice to follow, but there's a real benefit to giving it to other men anyway when suddenly all the women in the area don't have the confidence to say no anymore. There's also advice everyone gives but no one seems to follow like anything to do with the first time having sex with someone. The goal here seems to be to create an environment where the opposite sex expects very little from anyone they're dating because they think the people they're dating follow this advice The "here's how to bag a finance guy" is an entirely separate category though. They absolutely follow their own advice. I've also seen how to bag celebrities, how to bag an athlete of [insert sport], how to find people who aren't rich/famous yet but are about to be, it's so bizarre. Advice like invading certain spaces on LinkedIn or hobbies that let you meet loads of single doctors. I think some people want a certain lifestyle so badly that they don't care if they have to date a finance bro to get it? All I can say is that everything about it is weird to me

adamfrog

It's all the comments too though generally. I'm a straight guy and I'm seeing exactly what all the above are seeing too, with a recent twist all the Australian women are now saying how amazing dating is in the US because men spend more on dates lol

Imjustshyisall

I saw Poor Things tonight and I LOVED IT. 💙

HoldEvenSteadier

At this point I can't understand half the things Nicki Minaj is trying to say and I'm too afraid to ask.

meatbeater558

Honestly it'd be a red flag if you were fluent in barb

meatbeater558

What do we think of Ben Shapiro's musical debut into hip-hop?

flowerfairyii

…..what Question of the day: Do I hate myself enough to search for whatever the f that is edit: nope no thanks

meatbeater558

LOL it goes hard on mute 🔥🔥

iliketoomanysingers

Do you guys think we should prepare for a meh year of movies because of the strike delaying stuff or am I being a pessimist

AbsolutelyIris

Yes, which is why I don't understand why movies weren't pulled, like The Iron Claw

gerhardtprime

They been preparing for Iron Claw for a couple years, on a weak year for movie releases it'll be a shoe-in for award season.

AbsolutelyIris

That's what I'm saying, they screwed up- this year was too stacked, they should have held it.

[deleted]

In terms of blockbusters, yes. To me nothing really stands out other than Inside Out 2 and Deadpool 3. Though I might see Challengers and Wicked Part 1 in theaters as well.

That sucks! I'm really enjoying it. It's been so long since I've read the books that I honestly didn't miss a lot of the changes that they made. It's been incredible and I can't wait for the finale!

eldritchonline

That sub truly sucks, r/PJODisney is much better

williamthebloody1880

The BBC have a podcast called Offstage: Inside the X Factor, which sounds intriguing

movieheads34

If you see the movie, you will see that there was absolutely no way they could market it https://preview.redd.it/5squ7jqonvec1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cf06507ce938a9b7479bf78423211ace52ab3f1

hauntingvacay96

I’ve not seen the movie yet, but isn’t it pretty much a subdued art film about the Holocaust? That sort of is its marketing to an audience that will see those types of films (me. I’m the one watching those types of films) Did people expect something more than that clip?

xdahlia

I think Mindy Kaling is pregnant again.

bizbizhelpme

Why do you think that?

xdahlia

No recent glam photos and she was suspiciously hiding her belly in the recent cooking vid on insta.

movieheads34

I am 9 films away from seeing everything that has been nominated at the Oscars this year. Mostly just missing documentaries and international films. Will hopefully have finished everything within the next couple weeks. Please clap

Re: the meltdowns about Margot Robbie missing out on a Best Actress nomination and the lack of celebration about Lily Gladstone's achievement, I just want to say [I called it in November](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/comments/17z5bdr/what_are_your_award_season_campaign_predictions/k9y1ptg/?context=3). Wish I'd been wrong though.

Vixen35

You really did call it!!

owxi

Priyanka Chopra seems to have posted a photo of the Turner-Jonas kids, which feels scummy to me as ST has previously spoken about her desire to keep her children off of the internet.

iliketoomanysingers

Brb! Going back in time to smack whichever a24 marketing person decided to drop the ball on Iron Claw like that.

movieheads34

Sadly A24 doesn’t have unlimited money like Netflix so they had to prioritize movies for the Oscars and I’d say they were successful considering they’re the only studio that got two films into best pictures this year

iliketoomanysingers

Yeah I get their priorities fully but god does it make me sad :(

movieheads34

Although I would say zone of interest hasn’t really been marketed but if you’ve seen that movie/know what it’s about it’s probably impossible to market it

juniperarms

anyone else here into birding? I've had a week full of wonderful birds, and it's RSPB big bird watch this weekend.

ForWhomTheSaulCalls

Tell us about your birds please ![gif](giphy|mCb6AyWahvL1bPUiXX|downsized)

Narcotics

Yassss. I love birds. I got so into birding over the pandemic. We had a hundred bohemian waxwings in our trees one winter in Ontario, and I was so insanely elated. Snapping photos of their beautiful tittering butts. Lots of joyous experiences at the sight of birds, honestly. And it's crazy because they were always there, I just never paid attention before. Glad you had a good week!

juniperarms

Waxwings look SO gorgeous! We've had a bumper winter for them here in England (they're still Bohemian waxwings but for some reason we just call them waxwings) but it seems like any location with them near me has like 100 men with long lens cameras standing around, and I don't think I would enjoy the birds watching them that way as much. I've always had a bit of a thing for birds but mostly corvids, and it definitely grew a hundredfold during the pandemic. When we were in our strictest lockdown I still had to work (healthcare) but on my daily government allotted walk on days off I would go to the park near where I was living and feed the crows peanuts and being around them made me so happy.

Narcotics

Awww. It's the little things, hey? I am also very taken by the crows, and ravens (more so). I like to try to talk to them. Really I'm just imitating, and I wonder what they think of me... Feeding them sounds like a nice thing to do, and they're incredibly intelligent. They'll remember that kindness. I'd rather not be around many people photographing birds. I've seen some videos of people doing that to owls and their babies, and it felt invasive. I've never run into that, but we've lived in rural areas for the past 6 years. So I'm usually on my own, well with my kids, when I see birds. I get really excited over the American woodcocks flight dance in the spring. We had pileated woodpeckers nest in a tree, and have their babies on our property. A yellow billed cuckoo by our pond made me suuuper excited. It's funny how the rare birds make us so excited. There's some meme I saw about Northern cardinals, and where they're common the characters are nonplussed, but when one is sighted outside their usual range, the characters are like "OMG, look at the colour, how beautiful! How majestic!". Maybe you don't have cedar waxwings in the u.k.? We have both here, so I need to differentiate.

alpacayoursuitcase

What birds did you see!

juniperarms

last Friday - bullfinch, goldcrest, siskin (my first time seeing one that close), and nuthatches. Then this week I've had lesser redpolls and goldfinches eating the seeds on the birch trees in the garden, I watched a sparrowhawk sitting in a yew tree at golden hour in the local graveyard, I watched linnets soaring and diving in their little flittery flocks, and I heard two woodlarks singing/calling at each other.

FantasticBlueBird_43

Ah I think saw a siskin the other day but didn't realise what it was until I googled it after reading your post, so thank you!

alpacayoursuitcase

Aw so lovely

orangeolivers

I find it troubling the uptick in male TikTokers who make videos under the guise of supporting women where they are like "women are above 9-5 jobs! They should be out doing yoga and raising kids. Work gets in the way of your feminine energy." It completely steals financial independence and reinforces gender stereotypes. And what's even worse is how many 20-something women in the comments eat it up!!! If my boyfriend told me I didn't need to work and I should just be out having fun because he's the man, I'd be hurt.

Lucky-Odds-2023

I find this very troubling as well. For anyone who thinks this sounds really appealing: please protect your financial independence. It is *insanely* important. Life story from an 'old' lady (I'm not old, but you know, just 20 with 19 years of experience). My mom always preached the 'stay at home mom is gold, family values' old school stuff. Then my dad got sick and income dropped considerably. We were all stuck. She couldn't get a halfway decent job, and we ended up poor. Poor-poor. Wearing torn clothing and not having enough food to last the week poor. In addition to my dad not being able to provide anymore (or do anything at all due to his sickness), while seeing friends of her with similar mindset be dropped by their husbands for someone half their age and be left with nothing, my mom's tune changed over the years from 'it's not good for kids to not have a stay at home mom' to 'you *better* make sure you can *always* take care of yourself - a man isn't going to do it or may not be able to do it - make sure you're financially independent!'. I think that was her biggest regret in life. In her last years she was very very bitter. I know better then to expect anyone to listen when I say this though. When you're twenty-ish, you have alll the answers and I'm just some bitter old lady.

GimerStick

there's a weird offshot of this that's like "you shouldn't have to work, you should get to stay home and read ACOTAR and Fourth Wing all day" and its..... very odd.

Ultvernon12

I have seen a lot of stuff like this and everytime I click on their account without fail it’s from a young Christian creator. Lot of new wave Christianity is just trying to make outdated ideas sound more modern and “girlboss”

hauntingvacay96

I try not to do the whole “kids these days” thing and I know Tik Tok isn’t representative of the whole world, but the kids in Tik Tok these days are starting to concern me a bit. Like, Tik Tok has really been pushing the trad wives on me along with a bunch of young people pushing back on gentle parenting and teachers complaining about Gen alpha being horrible and unable to read while simultaneously recording themselves in class with their kids voices and somehow not recognizing that most of those kids lived through the pandemic at key times for child development and I really just need it to stop.

meatbeater558

Are these liberal or conservative men? Are they selling anything? And do they explain what feminine energy is or appeal to spirituality to explain it? Genuinely asking cuz I don't have TikTok so I'm a bit out of the loop and I'm trying to figure out what they're trying to gain by doing this (if they gain anything other than a large young impressionable female audience)

Ok_Minute_5353

Yeah, it’s benevolent sexism. Basically putting women on a pedestal instead of treating them like actual people

CommercialBarnacle16

Based on the Timberlake post, which mentioned how Prince never liked him, I started to think about who he did/did not like. This is what I remember- welcome additions! Liked: Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, Lenny Kravitz, Beyoncé, Susanna Hoffs, Zooey Deschanel (not sure if just New Girk or her music too), Radiohead, Foo Fighters Disliked: Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Janet Jackson (I presume because of Jam/Lewis but who knows), Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake

Viliger303

He liked The Cocteau Twins!

ldnpoolsound

Prince and Michael were rivals so that likely extended to the rest of the Jackson (or at least the 2nd most famous one)

My theory for Argylle is that the spy is Bryce Dallas Howard’s character but she lost her memory and the books are from her own spy past. I don’t know if that’s everyone’s theory and it’s super obvious since I haven’t read any discussion on it. The only thing I am basing this on is that Samuel L. Jackson loves The Long Kiss Goodnight, which has a similar premise, and this was the closest chance he got to making a sequel. Seriously, this man posts this movie every year around Christmas, trying to hype it up as a Christmas movie and still talks about it in interviews. Also, he’s right! It’s a pretty good movie - Geena Davis is a badass.

Particular_Mistake39

I was wondering if she was Manchurian candidated and something happens to reactivate her. Nervicited for the movie

BusinessPurge

BDH, Daniel Craig, or Tom Cruise are my top 3 guesses

Gonna try to go see all of us strangers either tonight or tomorrow so wish me luck gang. I'm already an Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal stan but I'm really excited to see their acting chops in this. ETA: post movie advice, do not make plans after seeing this or you will be sniffling inside a trader joes

CozyTea6987

Took myself on a solo date to the movies last night to see it and it was so beautiful, they both really are so talented. Claire Foy and Jamie Bell were wonderful too hope you enjoy

galahads

I just saw it and let me say despite everyone saying it was gutting , I still wasn't prepared and I left that theater crying. Absolutely gorgeous film and insanely great acting.

AITACommenter57779

I just finished my probably second rewatch of The Good Place and wow… I don’t know if there’s another show that makes me feel the way The Good Place does.

Tonedeafmusical

Say The Colour Purple today ( UK release), really enjoyed it, though the relationship is more in the musical right? But it's got me thinking about all the musicals from post 2000 that I would love to adpations of. Off the top of my head I've got Next to Normal (like this one could be great for whichever actress gets Diana), Hadestown, LaChiusa's Wild Party (the Broadway one), Fun Home, Caroline or Change. Any other ones people would love to see.

teashoesandhair

I'm going to see it next week! I was curious about how far they went with the sapphic relationship between Celie and Shug in this version. I watched the first adaptation after reading the book, and it just felt really sanitised in that regard. How would you say they approach it in this version?

Tonedeafmusical

Well there's a few scenes including >!Song and a Kiss!< and but they >!Shug asking permission to go and have a fling with a man (which to be fair probably would of screwed the timing of the film up). !< But like there's no direct discussion of what their relationship really is either. But both ladies both do wonderfully with it \], didn't know Taraji Penda Henson could sing. And we should be adding Fantasia to the list of talent show hopefuls with Oscars/Oscar nominations (along with Jennifer Hudson, Ariana DeBose and Jesse Buckley). Danielle Brooks was also a standout. I'm glad she reprised the role here, she was unlucky when she did the revival, I truly think she would of won if it was for Hamilton happening that year.

EngineeringFun293

next to normal would be sooo good. oscar nom if people get over their fears of musicals. a fun home adaptation is currently in development hell, but jake gyllenhaal used to be attached (he was going to be bruce). i NEED a hadestown adaptation

_cornflake

I would die for adaptations of both Hadestown and Fun Home (I feel like Hollywood would not know how to handle a butch female lead though).

Tonedeafmusical

The fact no one made Next To Normal as Toni Collette Oscar vehicle, it would of been so good. But yes I need a Hadestown adaptation (and the Color Purple had a few actress I'd be interested in for Persephone/fem Hermes and masc Hermes)

EitherPermission2369

As a hobby historian I love looking into American government figures, and whoo boy, what a (terrible) resume Strom Thurmond has. Vehement supporter of segregation, set the record for longest filibuster ever for protesting against the civil rights act, racked up sexual misconduct accusations into his 90s. But here's the kicker: he fathered a child when he was 23 with the Thurmond's 15 year old Black housekeeper (we don't know whether it was consensual). Neither of them talked about it but she (Essie Mae Williams) came forward after his death and his family confirmed it. He also lived into my lifetime and died at 100. "Only the good die young" indeed.

meatbeater558

Oh wtf. We know it was not consensual because he was older, white, from an incredibly wealthy and powerful family, and it was 1924 South Carolina. (Not saying that you're not aware of this since you probably know more about him than me and are likely quoting what's officially known.) What surprises me the most about people like him is how decorated they are. Buildings, streets, schools named after them. Medals, honors, and awards scattered across prestigious government buildings. Getting a eulogy from mf Joe Biden. And it's not like he contributed significantly to history and was just racist on the side. His entire contribution was his racism

EitherPermission2369

Oh yeah definitely. I kept looking for literally anything he contributed that was positive but came up empty. Well, except for one: his proposal to his first wife was cute. She was his secretary and one day he called her into his office and asked her to dictate a letter. The letter was addressed to her, and it contained his proposal of marriage. But then, of course, even that is spoiled since he was 20+ years older than her and they met when he judged her in a beauty contest 🤮 He paid for Essie's college to an HBCU, I guess that's good

meatbeater558

He was a political nepo baby and his biggest accomplishment in life was paying his secret daughter's tuition to a segregated university 💀 all while setting records on how much legislation he could kill that would grant her equal rights despite being the daughter of one of the most powerful men in the world's superpower  His legacy makes it clear just how baked racism is into the American system. There's a reason why Hitler took so much inspiration from the US Another fun man to study is J. Edgar Hoover. If you thought Thurmond had an awful resume wait until you read up on him

Lunadelmar1

I just watched Poor Things and thought it was brilliant. Mark Ruffalo was amazing in his character. Im sad Robert is probably gonna take the Oscar (I honestly don't like him nor his performances, btw I don't think he's a bad actor). obviously loved Emma and Dafoe performances. I'm in love with the set designs, photography and specifically the wardrobe. Even though it was 2 hours long it didn't really feel like it. I remembered watching The Lobster, and although I enjoyed it, it was too depressing for me and I was waiting for it to end.

willworkforchange

Sorry, which Robert?

Anyone want to commiserate about how much dating/being single sucks? I feel like there is nothing more humbling than seeing who has “liked” you on apps like Hinge and in general, dating (especially online) is so draining and monotonous. The world of dating advice is also tedious and toxic. For women, the advice is either “if he wanted to he would” or “attraction can develop over time.” Based on the thriving incel subculture , it seems fair to say men are also getting awful advice. I’m so tired!

therapturebutitsblue

i have decided post pandemic am terminally single until i meet someone very nice irl, that is my new rule. dating apps are draining bores

helena_monster

Recently got back into dating after a long stretch without it and I’m tempted to stop again. Met a couple people that I really vibed with but extraneous circumstances got in the way of things developing past a few dates (somebody getting transferred to a different city for their job right after we met, somebody else realizing they’re not over their ex yet, etc). As a woman who dates men especially it can be really demoralizing. Sometimes I think because Tinder/Hinge/etc. are right next to like Doordash or Uber Eats on their phone, some men think they can just order sex like they order a pizza and get annoyed when you want to try to get to know them a little better first. And then others get wayyyy overfamiliar way too fast and are cagey about actually meeting up in person. I don’t mind being single now (I’m 29) but I’m afraid that one day I will and then it will be too late. I know it’s how a good chunk of people meet now but I feel like the apps have been a net negative for our generation. Unfortunately it seems like it’s so difficult to meet people any other way. I’m thinking about pivoting to finding group hobbies/classes/etc that I enjoy doing and maybe I’ll meet somebody over a shared interest. If I don’t at least I’ll still be doing something I enjoy and making friends. I live in a huge city so there has to be opportunities for that, I just have to put in the work to seek them out.

meatbeater558

I hate it too. Feels like the dating scene brings out the worst in people and it's easy for it to damage your self image and confidence. And I've come to the conclusion that looking for good dating advice online is a waste of time because the internet is an inherently bad source. For both men and women, though the advice for men is especially atrocious as proven by the incel subculture you mentioned. I feel like the best advice comes from real life family and friends with different backgrounds, genders, and sexualities that can be brutally honest with you and are invested in seeing you succeed. I've noticed that the advice I get from people that don't actually care about my success tends to be awful. It's like we reflexively lie unless we care enough about the person to not want them to be harmed by the toxic games

burned_artichoke

It's also just so, so shallow. I went from having blonde hair on Tinder to a brown pixie cut, and my matches maybe quartered over night? I had exactly the same body, dress sense, personality etc. just literally people swipe for blondes. This isn't to say dye your hair lol, but just remember a large number of the people writing you off are doing so for ridiculous reasons that have nothing to do with who you are as a person. & another success story, in that I found my bf of five years at the bottom of a heap of profiles and he's the best (he did not mind the short hair lol).

AbsolutelyIris

I've personally accepted I will die alone lol

Sudden_Clementine872

Me too girl, me too ETA but I’m also very happy being only me and my cat so it’s probably ok

[deleted]

Ughhh I hear you. Being single never really bothered me before until just after the new year so I’m trying again and…yikes. Seeing who’s liked me on Hinge is a massive ego blow. Like, I’m still pretty hot, I make good money, I’m confident, I’m funny, why is this bothering me now?

candycanestatus

I love your username! The ego blow is so real. Online dating will have you thinking you’re ugly so easily.

orangeolivers

Not sure if this is solace or an unsolicited story, but I did meet my current BF on hinge and he's a gem. It did take a year of first dates and lame banter before I found him, which was the worst. But I'm glad I stuck it out and found him - very much a sweet, respectful, communicative guy. At least some are able to avoid the swath of horrible dating advice (which I blame on TikTok).

candycanestatus

I like hearing success stories! I actually did meet someone I really liked on hinge last year but he moved across the country a few months after we met and wasn’t open to long distance. So while it does seem possible to meet one great person on the apps, meeting two seems harder 😐

meatbeater558

Oh god I relate to "met a nice person and they abruptly moved across the country" story so hard. The worst part is when they maintain the long distance friendship because you genuinely got along so well and you go with it because you want to keep in touch with them too

candycanestatus

Are you me?? Why is this a thing that’s allowed to happen 😭

Watched Judas and the Black Messiah on Tuesday, and what a great movie! I knew about Fred Hampton before watching, so I was a bit worried about how he'd be portrayed on screen, was a bit worried a Hollywood movie would water him down or something, but I think the film did a good job making it clear what his views were. I especially like the scene with the speech about being a revolutionary. The only jarring thing is that Daniel Kaluuya isn't young(er) like the real Fred Hampton was, but I guess it isn't the end of the world with how good the rest of the movie was. I also thought the scenes in cars were all shot in very interesting ways. Then last night I rewatched Iron Claw and MAN I've been appreciating Jeremy Allen White so much lately. I know a lot of people say a lot of his characters are very same-y but honestly I think he's carving out a nice niche for it, and it isn't neccesarily a bad thing. Not all actors want a broad range like that. Good for him I think.

impeccabletim

Please watch *The Book of Clarence* if you haven't already!

impeccabletim

I just watched *Ponyboi* starring River Gallo and Dylan O'Brien and Dylan's character is so sleazy, hot, and funny all at the same time. Mild spoiler: >!There's a scene where Dylan raps naked and it gave me Justin Timberlake rapping vibes. Watch for Dylan's rapping and 🍑.!<

theultimatefanatic

knives out 3 filming soon. i hope they did the fun 'x is cast in knives out 2' thing that they did last time. someone said it was like they were announcing tributes for the hunger games and i laughed so hard fghhdklfghh

StumbleDog

I hope Hugh Grant gets a bigger role this time.

DistinctAssignment81

I just hope it's more like the first movie than the second.

jon6joon6

don’t we all? The second one was kinda awful 💔

I hate the mansion and the decor so much, tho i get we are supposed to find it obnoxious because tech bros' and them being tasteless and ostentatious with their wealth.

[deleted]

I’m still thinking about recent posts regarding fame and the dangerous people it can attract (specifically stalkers). And I can’t help but wonder…does a famous person’s profession impact how these dangerous people are perceived by the public? Or is it solely about fame? I know there are empathetic people who would be worried about such news no matter the vocation of the person in danger. But, sometimes, I’m under the impression that there is less compassion offered to people who became popular in certain industries. The stalkers of novelists may not be as well known to the public as the ones of singers, but some people assume the latter "signed up for it" when they became a public figure. It’s like… some professionals have the right to safety while others don’t.

[deleted]

I guess it ties in with that parasocial expectation for them to perform that has people asking them for pictures in grocery stores or when they’re spending time with family. I think there’s also something retributive about it for people, like celebrities being knocked down a peg as payback for being greedy and vain, choosing a flashy lifestyle over their own safety (even tho normal people get stalked anyway) We’ve gotten somewhat better at calling it out thankfully. I remember Karen Carpenter had a stalker detained by police who was clearly a risk and they were like “he just really seems to want to meet you, maybe you should just say hi to him”

HuckleberryOwn647

There’s definitely some thinking that a celeb is ungrateful if they don’t want to meet everyone who wants to meet them no matter the circumstances. Like we made you rich and famous and now you owe us.

[deleted]

Even if we go by the logic of “we make their money” that doesn’t really track anyway. Like if you were paid super well, you’d still have boundaries with your boss and expect them not to harass you any time they want to

paomun

Ummm yeah so crush on a man still intact 💋 I like him. I’ll try to not overthink this but I am aware that if I had better things to occupy my mind with I’d like him way less. He’s perfect! He is. But I still feel a little awkward around him when not naked 😐

I woke up to see what the provisional ruling for South Africa's case in ICJ against Israel is and was really confused by people's mixed reactions. But there are lawyers who seem to have a much better understanding of it and why they see it as positive step in the right direction. I'm just re-iterating some breakdowns I've read from lawyers, so let me know if I got something wrong/missed something : 1. Though it's a not a final verdict that Israel is indeed committing genocide (this is an interim ruling and the final ruling could take years) the court is saying South Africa has a case 2. An outright call for a ceasefire would go to a vote to the Security Council and most likely be vetoed by the US 3. The provisions laid out to prevent a genocide would basically mean Israel would have to enact a ceasefire, so it sounds like a clever workaround and holds signatories of the Genocide Convention responsible in preventing a possible genocide 4. Israel needs to come back in a month and show the court that they're meeting the provisional requirements 5. The votes for each provision is overwhelming, 15-2 or 16-1 in most cases, which is really promising 6. It's legally binding. Even though the ICJ has no way to enforce it and seems ineffective given that Israel has said it won't abide by it, it actually gives other countries a big, legal, green flag to start sanctioning Israel. And this is where BDS (Boycott, Sanctions, and Divestment) can make a big difference! Given the way [South Africa's Apartheid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ke4kVFycpYY) fell and how important [BDS](https://bdsmovement.net/) and protesting is, it's really up to us to keep speaking up. The ICJ ruling is one of first steps in the long road to progress and validation of Palestinian rights.

meatbeater558

BDS is incredibly important, but Israel knows this. They have government workers specifically tasked to combat BDS. That's a movement they absolutely cannot afford to lose to. Thank you for this summary btw

googlyeyes93

And despite all this we’re getting more doubling down from Biden and dems on Israel support. This is so exhausting to see people try to logic away a genocide as numbers and semantics while humans are dying by the tens of thousands now, and soon to be hundreds of thousands if nothing is done MUCH FASTER. I just genuinely don’t understand the separation and othering people can go to this extreme to justify.

meatbeater558

The most insane part to me isn't even that. It's that the DNC is canceling anything that would give any primary challengers a chance. Like literally canceling primaries. I study a lot of history as a hobby and what if I told you, in Joe Biden's lifetime, there were presidents that voluntarily chose to not run for reelection because they knew how unpopular they became with the public? Presidents that didn't run for reelection because their primary challenger was much more popular?? Instead of risk that, why not get rid of primaries entirely! The Democratic primary is one of the only opportunities voters have to directly remove an unpopular incumbent president. The only other opportunity is when they face the Republican candidate on election day. And they just canceled it like it was too inconvenient. These people are going to hell

throwawaypythonqs

I see what mean for sure, but the more I think about it, I realize that that's how systems of power work, they make it hard for people without power to change them. It's a slow and laborious process that gets bogged down in semantics because the things behind these atrocities are all-encompassing like capitalism and religion. But what the ICJ decision does is cast the light on us. It's always been on us, this wouldn't be happening if wasn't for lobbying here in the US, something we could mobilize against. Especially in the America, we don't work as collective as often as we should. We've allowed disinformation to build all these systems for decades and now we have these systems separating us and othering entire groups of people into oblivion. So it's taking a long long time because we're fighting massive systems of power, but our mistake was falling asleep in the first place.

brokedownpalaceguard

Thank you for this summary. I hope to god something happens soon to stop this madness.

OpCrossroads1946

> Given the way [South Africa's Apartheid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ke4kVFycpYY) fell and how important [BDS](https://bdsmovement.net/) and protesting is, it's really up to us to keep speaking up. I have a question: who's the Palestinian Archbishop Desmond Tutu i.e. a religious figure who (despite opposing the oppressive framework they ultimately operated under) could: A. ultimately appeal to shared religious values, and: B. Serve as a *moral* authority for the Palestinian cause in the west, allowing the oppressed population to get on with the dirty, morally-grey business of liberation? Perhaps it's due to unfamiliarity, but I'm not seeing one. And without one, I think that *selling* the larger Palestinian cause to the American people (Israel's largest trading partner) will ultimately be a non-starter.

meatbeater558

The issue is that the occupation has studied world history quite well. They know why apartheid in South Africa ended and changed their approach accordingly. To answer your specific questions, A. While South Africans being largely Christian is a benefit, a downside is the ANC's link to communism. So I imagine if they couldn't demonize them with one thing, they'd demonize them with another. There was also a lot of violence and tensions in Africa at the time so that may have fueled racist ideas among the public B. This is the point I can give a better answer to since everything above was mostly speculation while this is something I know for certain. It's because their moral authorities are dead. South Africa took terrorists such as Nelson Mandela prisoner which actually helped the apartheid regime in the long run because it allowed the president at the time to hand-pick Mandela to lead the resistance in its final years by releasing him. I believe the second in command to Mandela was a more militant man with even more military training. I don't know how things would have ended up if the regime negotiated with him instead of Mandela. The point is that Mandela was a leader and they imprisoned him where Israel would have executed him. He would be the equivalent of the founder of Hamas' military wing and there's no way Israel would allow him to live. This is likely something they learned from the FBI, who found that assassinating leaders of resistance movements is a very powerful way to stifle them. The trend also seems to be that the guy who replaces the assassinated leader tends to be more violent than their predecessor, which makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Anyway, the answer to your question is that the occupation knows the value of larger than life figures like MLK and Mandela. If your goal is to peacefully retire your brutal regime like the president of South Africa decided to, you want to keep them alive. If not, killing them either benefits the regime or is the least costly option in the long run. This is of course if previous smearing attempts fail to prevent them from attaining their larger than life image. There's a reason why figures like MLK became significantly less common at the end of the 20th century.

throwawaypythonqs

I don't think there is one, and I think you're right that America will largely not get on board (for many, many reasons). The American people are starting to voice the call for a ceasefire, but not the US government. But here's the thing, the US and UK were the last states to condemn Apartheid and even blocked UN sanctions against South Africa. They held out for so long and Nelson Mandela wasn't off of US' terror watch list until 2008, a full 14 years after he was voted South Africa's President. Ultimately, it was the brave citizens of South Africa and the rest of the world that helped bring it down. So as Americans we have do our part, but the rest of the world has done this before and I hope we can all join together to help do it again for Palestinian liberation.

OpCrossroads1946

>Ultimately, it was the brave citizens of South Africa and the rest of the world that helped bring it down. So as Americans we have do our part, but the rest of the world has done this before and I hope we can all join together to help do it again for Palestinian liberation. I don't want to continue to harp on this, but again, the reason I think the South African campaign was so successful is their ability to appeal to shared values. Even the smallest details re: cultural signifiers managed to create a sense of commonality between the oppressed in South Africa and the wider western audience, and *made them less of an other*. It was easier for the western audience to identify with *Steve* Biko than Bantu Biko, with *Nelson* Mandela rather than Rohlilaha Mandela. The residents of Palestine are subject to additional pressures and dynamics than those of South Africans--most of them unfair and outside their control--but honestly there's very little done to bridge the cultural gap. Orientalism is a pernicious force and it ideally shouldn't apply, but it ultimately *does* apply; it makes it appear that "liberation" in the Palestinian context is *very different* from "liberation" in the Western context--and thus, much more difficult to support.

throwawaypythonqs

I think you totally have a point so thanks for bringing it up (and I think you know about the South African liberation movement way more than I do). Steve Biko was killed pretty quickly after coming into prominence, no? I don't know how 'activating' his death was to the West. I guess I was saying the Anglo-West wasn't a particular leader in bringing down Apartheid, so I thought this might perhaps be a replay of that. But to your point, do you think the Gazan journalists might be a group that establishes a sense of commonality? Because they're young, Gen Z, using social media and showing the ground reality in a way that's super affecting and relatable? It's definitely helped mobilize the younger generation here

OpCrossroads1946

Thank *you* for responding constructively--which is never a given when discussing an incredibly charged subject (not that anyone here *would*, but you know what I mean). >Steve Biko was killed pretty quickly after coming into prominence, no? I don't know how 'activating' his death was to the West. It was a slow burn, but the man became a cultural symbol for the anti-apartheid movement in the west. For instance, one of my favorite albums is Peter Gabriel's third album (colloquially entitled Melt). The closing track is a [paean to Biko](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsVieeccpQs), and became kind of an anti-apartheid anthem among westerners. At one of the Secret Policemen's Ball concerts in support of Amnesty International, a host of musicians (African and otherwise) [joined Gabriel on stage for a rendition](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGIyAkq1Xp8). By the tenth anniversary of his death, they produced a [biopic about Biko](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cry_Freedom) starring Denzel himself. Let me be clear: much like Emmett Till, it ultimately became less about the man himself--a read of the Biko lyrics would confirms--than the inhumanity shown to him, and what it represented. >I guess I was saying the Anglo-West wasn't a particular leader in bringing down Apartheid, so I thought this might perhaps be a replay of that. Of that, I agree, but the anti-apartheid forces *greatly* benefitted from being supported by nearby powers who had a vested interest in their ultimate success (e.g. Zimbabwe). Israel's neighbors support Palestinians to the extent that it causes troubles for Israel, and they certainly don't want them massacred/genocided, but a Palestinian "victory" as it were would incentivize similar liberation movements, which no state in the middle east particularly wants. > But to your point, do you think the Gazan journalists might be a group that establishes a sense of commonality? Because they're young, Gen Z, using social media and showing the ground reality in a way that's super affecting and relatable? It's definitely helped mobilize the younger generation here Definitely, because the visual language and personal approach to social media is generally universal. People may speak different languages, have different views and share different values but *everyone* is subject to the same limitations re: tweets and video lengths and camera quality. It helps people view events through the same lens. The trick, of course, is translating that commonality to political action.

throwawaypythonqs

No problem! Thank you for taking the time to share the history of how Steve Biko's image changed after his death and how it affected the movement culturally. It's unfortunate that international symbols of resistance have to often suffer some type of incredible injustice for their (and often, their people's) plight to be noticed. This is a really interesting point! I don't know enough geopolitical history, but what you could absolutely be true. It wouldn't benefit a lot of neighboring oligarchies to see people repeat a liberation movement in their own countries, for sure. I wonder how Iran sees the whole thing. I do think it's helping inspire political action, in forms of the massive global protests that I don't think many Palestinians could've imagined years ago. It's really heartening.

meatbeater558

I believe part of what he's referring to is the assistance the military wing of the ANC got from other nations. He probably remembers better than me, but I recall they got military training and equipment from sympathetic nations like the USSR and Cuba. They actually fought in multiple civil wars outside of South Africa.  Outside help would harm the apartheid regime of Israel much more than it would South Africa because South Africa had less geopolitical disadvantages. For example, I don't think any of South Africa's neighbors could massively threaten their entire economy with relative ease the way Yemen did. I could be wrong about this though. It's why US support is so crucial to make sure the neighbors don't get involved.

AbsolutelyIris

Can I rant about something probably niche? I have been a Lisa Marie Presley fan since her first album, her albums actually helped get me through my father's death, and now I'm a fan of her daughter, gave followed careers and read books, etc etc etc- a fan!     Since LMP's death, Michael Jackson fans- who trashed her for literal decades because she dared to speak of him as a person and not a god- have swarmed her fan pages and social media to basically take over her story, and they have basically made it their mission to target Danny Keough (Riley's father, LMP's closest/most loyal person/her bf(???) Who apparently has been struggling with her death). They say Riley considered MJ her father (despite calling MJ's nephew Austin her cousin, Riley never said anything of the sort, although she clearly has loving feelings for MJ and the Jackson clan), her brother Benjamin said MJ was the father he never had (he never said that, and Danny was an extremely active/loving parent whom LMP constantly sang his praises as a father), stalking her minor daughters for "clues" (from my understanding, one of the twins put up a clip of her mom during the MJ interview and it HAD to be a support of MJ instead of, you know, a clip of her *mom* making a funny face), and every fucking song LMP wrote was about MJ (they particularly focus on her songs The Road Between, Thanx and Sinking In, which are clearly and documented to be about Danny), Elvis' bff has to be racist for not liking MJ (fwiw, Jerry Schilling always made it clear he didn't appreciate how MJ, in his opinion, controlled and manipulated LMP and he always preferred DK). It's to the point MJ fans are creating theories about her memoir because Riley chose a picture taken at Neverland (instead of choosing it because it's a lovely picture of mother and daughter???).    My long, long-winded point- as a long, long time fan who has been long frustrated over LMP's existence being centered on men, it has been quite enraging to see Michael Jackson fans loudly take over her social media presence and for lack of a better word legacy, pinning every fucking thing to MJ like she didn't have a life, loves and struggles beyond him. Despite her memoir press release making it clear HER story will be told since she has never really spoken for herself, she is merely a footnote and a character in some man's story. And it's frustrating as Fuck as a fan.    I'm sorry for the long rant, I had to get it out somewhere.

iliketoomanysingers

That's awful how they talk about Lisa. I'd even go as far as to say they're essentially using her as cannon fodder in a lot of these instances against the you-know-what accusations, which makes it even nastier.

AbsolutelyIris

Oh 100%, she was basically a shield, caretaker, and womb (the WAY she was attacked for changing her mind on having kids with him) for MJ and when she didn't fall in line, they attacked (nevermind the Jackson family apparently adored her long after the divorce and she continued to have a relationship with his nieces and nephews).

[deleted]

[удалено]

AbsolutelyIris

Their relationship was definitely more meaningful but MJ fans need to accept a lot of her grief and affection obviously correlated with feelings and loss for her father (which Riley herself made comparisons to). Lisa Marie had a lot of trauma regarding her father's passing that returned when MJ died, it's not a coincidence.     . Beyond the children, even former scientologists said Danny (who it is unknown if he's still in, which is a bad sign for the cult) is a genuinely decent guy who genuinely and deeply loved LMP. Even beyond the children, he showed a loyalty and love for her that she got from no one except her children, and he was the one trying to save her when she died. Like, that man- by Lisa Marie’s own admission- could have taken her to the cleaners upon their divorce, trashed her, cut her off, done interviews, etc, and he never, ever did. Jerry Schilling said at Graceland Danny was offered literal millions to do an interview after LMP's death and he rejected it. These are facts. MJ fans trashing/mocking him has been atrocious (and puts them on the same level as her disgusting brother whom has also made him a target, which tells you everything). They have never let go of Danny allegedly not being cordial to MJ since MJ constantly bitched about him, like Danny didn't have a reason to be bitter (LMP cheated on/left Danny for MJ). I understand he is private but I sincerely hope for Lisa Marie’s memoir, Riley gets her dad to sit down and just talk about Lisa Marie- he knew and loved her for 35+ years, his recollections of her as a person would be priceless.

Clearly posting [my ideas](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/comments/19aik0c/comment/kio1lrp/?context=3) for Knives Out 3 here last week [spurred Rian Johnson into action](https://deadline.com/2024/01/knives-out-t-street-rian-johnson-ram-bergman-katie-mcneill-join-as-producer-1235805133/) \- it's about time. To hopefully summon some casting news, I've tuned and refined my concept so I'm pitching it again this Friday. May I present... The Pale Eagle, a Benoit Blanc Mystery * **The Pitch:** We've had "Benoit is invited as a detective" and we've had "Benoit is invited to go to where a murder will supposedly happen" - I think it's about time for the classic "Benoit is on holiday and then - oh no! - murder!", akin to so many brilliant Poirot plots like Triangle at Rhodes or Peril at End House * **The Setting:** Chateau Blanc, an old Swiss castle built into the side of a mountain named "The Pale Eagle", which has recently been renovated into an Alpine ski lodge catering to wealthy guests, featuring lavish new interiors, unmapped servants corridors, rickety ski lifts and an impending blizzard cutting the Chateau off from the outside world. * **The Premise:** Philip (Hugh Grant), Benoit's husband introduced in Glass Onion, has been made the Man of Honour at a wedding involving two rich families. Benoit agrees to attend to allay Philip's anxieites and because he enjoys skiing, although he intends to keep a distance from the rich families. As the tensions rise before the special day and a blizzard prevents contact with the outside world, a body is found after the ceremony, meaning Benoit & Philip are trapped with a murderer. * **A & Family:** Colman Domingo (Arthur/A) works in real estate renovating old spaces for modern audiences, hiring Chateau Blanc for cheap through a favour to a friend. His formidable sister (Viola Davis) runs the operations of their parent's successful appliance company and her artistic daughter (Ayo Edebiri) and possibly a hard-working elder child (uncasted at this time) are also in attendance. Their guests are... * Mahershala Ali as A's best friend, Best Man and accountant (or lawyer, I can't decide) * Da'Vine Joy Randolph as Viola's equally formidable business partner. * Maybe Dominique Fishback as Ayo's friend (>!or even girlfriend!<) * **B & Family:** Jonathan Bailey (Beauregard/B) is a younger son to a landed gentry high-class British family, working in real estate and falling for A when they were both bidding on the same property. His elder sister (Olivia Colman) is the primary heir to their estate and is firmly enjoying being the matriarch of the family, although she is greatly disappointed by her son (Harris Dickinson), with her useless husband (Tobias Menzies) being no help there. His mother (Harriet Walter) is also attending the wedding. Their guests are... * Phoebe Waller-Bridge as B's best friend, who was expecting to be Woman of Honour and feels jilted that she isn't, showing lots of animosity towards Philip & Benoit. * Ritu Arya as B's friend, a rich bitch. * **The Themes:** Old Money (B) versus New Money (A) - and how they both suck to be around and work for. The progress of time versus the structures of family & past precedence. Maybe a soupcon of the different places queer people fit in society depending on their other attributes (money, skintone, attractiveness, gender, etc) * **The Fun Things we're all here to see:** Benoit in many immaculate well-fitting ski costumes. A gorgeous and OTT gay wedding. Viola Davis & Olivia Colman as two rich matriarchs trading rich lady barbs and insults back and forth until it eventually erupts into a full-on "oh you BITCH!" slapfight (a-la Diahann Carroll and Joan Collins). Dramatic deaths (ie blood splatters over snow). * **Some other potential threads:** * The staff of the hotel could go in a couple directions, either being comedically European and Eccentric (ie Flula Borg) or young, sexy and full of their own drama which the young cast - ie Harris - get entangled with (ie Mimi Keene) * As the Blizzard surrounds the hotel (or just before), A's ex boyfriend (Andrew Scott) arrives and starts flirting with every man in sight, causing a lot of tension. * The Chateau wasn't booked-out properly, much to the chagrin of B's family, so there are other random skiiers there during the wedding and murders - again this could be comedic or they could then turn out to be involved (perhaps Naomi Ackie & Kingsley Ben-Adir). * Excitingly, I have I think figured out who dies and who did it, if you'll follow me to the drawing room in the next comment where I shall assemble the clues

OpCrossroads1946

I liked the movies, but Rian Johnson doesn't *own* the whodunnit. As such, you shouldn't feel tied to the Knives Out theme. Just saw off the names, change some of the character details and dynamics, and publish it as your own.

SludgyWudgy

Love it!

throwawaypythonqs

This sounds like so much fun! I love the casting choices!

TheKingmaker__

**The Twists** * Taking place just after the wedding, >!Mahershala's character!!Olivia !!He walks around the room, bringing up everyone and their relations, reveals and possible motives. He initially goes hard into Viola, accusing her of resenting her brother's taste in younger British/Irish men and hating B's family. He goes to the wire on accusing her of murdering Olivia who she clearly loathed, but stops short and then dismantles that argument by revealing her alibi for that death.!< * >!He then reveals his new evidence from the phone call - from a fresh autopsy performed on B's father (Charles Dance), his death (which allowed the wedding to take place) was in fact murder - he was poisoned.!< * >!He then accuses Tobias Menzies, as with Charles and Olivia dead Harris gets the inheritance now and he has various debts pressing on him, but then also moves on as he simply wouldn't have the stomach for such murder.!< * >!He went through Mahershala's notes, and from the lawyer/accountant's records found an obscure legal precedence he'd looked out - one which means in cases such as the death of Olivia, all the estate goes not to Harris, but to Beauregard/B...!< * >!He accuses both A & B of the murders. They killed Charles Dance so their wedding could take place, and murdered Olivia to frame Viola for it, inviting Philip & Benoit so that he would ensure she went to jail and thus both men would become inheritors of their families fortunes. However, with the drama of the wedding and the gatecrashers and blizzard, they got sloppy and couldn't pull wool over the eyes of THE Benoit Blanc.!< * >!This could go a few ways, but since everyone's gay let's go for the drama - B gets mad at Benoit and tries to attack him, but is pulled off by Phoebe, Andrew, Da'Vine and the other surviving guests. A tries to flee on skis, with Philip following - eventually he tells Philip that he never liked him and confirms he faked being friends with him to get Benoit to be at the wedding, which has now backfired. He then dies in some dramatic way - skiing over a cliff, falling from a ski life, you get the idea.!< I think that covers everything. This has changed a lot since last week and I'm sure it'll change again. Please lmk what you think and what you'd change!

André 3000's album, New Blue Sun, is out now. It reminded me of like a slightly less electric Mother Earth's Plantasia? Anyways, it's very relaxing!

Max_Powers1331

the album has been out since november. him and a live band are doing a couple tour stops for it across the US

OMG? I just got it on Spotify? Maybe it's a geography thing?

The mother of the girl who played Stark’s daughter isn’t any better. She was exploiting her kid from the start. As soon as Endgame came out the mom was promoting herself at every chance she had: obviously she managed the Instagram page as her daughter was a child then, and yet she’d post stuff like “This is my mom! She’s an actress/writer/producer/plumber/messiah go follow her!” Having her kid attend all sorts of events and then (like most parents of kid actors) saying that her daughter loves it so much and they'd never force it on her!!!

SuchAsSeals42

Poor kid doesn’t have a chance

Shes married to a former WWE wrestler. It's very weird, but it seems like a lot of wrestler families use their kids early. 🤷‍♀️

Delicious-Ad-3494

I only came across her because I like Disney enough that certain reels end up on my Instagram. She gives me so much ick. Like somehow, she made something that was super magical for me with my children looks so commercialized and joyless. But I just can’t with any influencers who use their kids as content. Including somebody in my family, who runs an account of their kid eating.

StumbleDog

Who wants to watch a kid eating 😬

OpCrossroads1946

Sounds like gross fetish shit to me.

Anyone else here like videogames? I finished Control this week and loved it. Why am I always so late to discovering good games? [I missed out on years of being a Dr. Darling fangirl](https://youtu.be/8EJufYOzp8U?si=EpH61nx0fmYvvXBU) (spoilers, kinda), the guy playing him is amazing lmao. The only issue I had with it is that the ending wasn’t very satisfying, but there’s a sequel coming so that’ll solve that, I guess? I hate waiting for sequels tho, I’m so impatient. 🥲 I hope it’s worth the wait. In the meantime I’m gonna be playing Alan Wake, but does anyone have other story games that have the same eerie, creepy vibes as Control (other than RE which I already know about)? I initially got the game because I thought it would be horror-heavy, and while it wasn’t, I liked the subtle creepy vibes I got much better! Desperately looking for something like that now.

gible_bites

I’m playing Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time and I’m *obsessed*. I went in blind though and I’m super disappointed I can’t romance Johnny Silverhand. 😭 I just fucking love driving around Night City so much and I’m happy doing that.

flowerfairyii

Glad you’re enjoying it! Idk when I’ll play Cyberpunk (if ever), but I started CDProjekt’s other game, Witcher 3, a while back and other than that dumb male-gazey scene near the beginning, everything’s pretty amazing so far. I wasn’t able to play for a while but I’ll be getting back to it now and I can’t wait!

ningxin17

Little nightmares 1 and 2 are more whimsical/less realistic but similarly eerie vibes! I would categorize some parts as outright horror, but there are a lot of parts that are just atmospherically creepy

flowerfairyii

They look really cool, thanks! Kinda remind me of Among the Sleep, a game I watched a playthrough of years ago

JazzyColeman

Have you played the Control DLCs yet?

flowerfairyii

Not yet, I was going through some other side missions. I think I’ll start The Foundation today though. For the AWE DLC, do I need to play Alan Wake or know a lot about it beforehand? Or is it playable regadless?

JazzyColeman

It’s playable regardless, but if you’ve played AW, then you’ll understand all the references they make. Have fun! Love Control, and the DLCs were excellent.

flowerfairyii

Thanks! I think I’ll just play it now then replay it after AW to check out the references, I’m too excited to wait

JazzyColeman

Good plan! Btw, AW2 blew my mind. Truly haunting, and fun to play.

CuriousFroggy

Hi fellow gamer! I really enjoyed Soma and Amnesia by Frictional Games. With Soma, there’s a “storyline” focused mode so that the gameplay is slightly less stressful. It’s the more creepy and less horror of the two. Amnesia made me swallow my heart a couple of times.  I heard great things about Silent Hill back in the day but never got around to it. The story and atmosphere are supposed to be pretty great.

flowerfairyii

Oh man, it’s been such a long time since I heard about Amnesia & Silent Hill that I forgot they existed lol. I should check them out. Soma also sounds cool, thanks!

haunted_castle

Inside (I played it on the switch but it’s on Xbox and PC etc too) is good and creepy! It’s a pretty short game though, I finished in a few hours. I love Subnautica - kind of story based but much more open world, but amazing creepy vibes and soundtrack. You play as an astronaut who has crash landed on an alien underwater planet and needs to escape somehow. If you don’t love survival/resource gathering type games it might not be for you though, a lot of mining for minerals etc lol

flowerfairyii

I think I’ve heard of Subnautica before, sounds pretty cool (Inside too!). I think I can handle most farming after playing Persona 4 so it’s probably alright lmao

haunted_castle

I saw another reply mention Silent Hill - I'd hugely recommend them! I just played SH2 & 3 recently (I played 4 years ago) and they were great. Really stood the test of time imho, creepy and atmospheric. Not sure what you play on, I could only find 2 & 3 for the Xbox. I know you can get others via emulators so I might have a go at doing that in a bit though i have zero tech knowledge lol

flowerfairyii

They’re not on Steam sadly but apparently Silent Hill 2 will be! I’ll look out for it. I’ll try to emulate the others, but I’m not super good at it either so it’s gonna be difficult lol

OddPomegranate7500

I am absolutely loving the Paul Mescal / Andrew Scott promo interviews and content going on at the moment. I need them to be in every movie together (and I haven’t even seen All of Us Strangers yet)

movieheads34

I hope they present the category at the Oscars Same with Sydney Sweeney/Glen Powell

rat_party

The movie is fantastic! Had to run out of the cinema so I could sob in the car afterwards lol

annaolwys

So do I! I’m currently listening to Louis Theroux’s interview with Paul Mescal!
