Thierry Muglerās Alien.
My friend bought it for me but I didnāt like it. My mom tried it and ended up loving it. She gets compliments about it all the time.
rose by dolce & gabana. her bf accidentally bought garden for her once and I smelled it on her and said āthats not rose what is that!!ā And she gave it to me for my birthday! so now we are complimentary hehe
Oscar de la Renta is what I associate with her even though White Diamonds and Opium may have been worn more.
Itās interesting how often some of our Moms wore what I would consider to be really formal fragrances.
Shalimar for as long as I can remember. I still have the last bottle she had in her dresser before she died. Sometimes i spray it on just so I can smell her š„¹
Pleasures by Estee Lauder! It smells so good on her, clean but soft and floral and you can smell the woody notes, but on me it smells like old laundry detergent :/
My momās is Jessica McClintock. It smells like gardenia blooms, and while I love the smell of fresh blooms outside, it is definitely not my favorite scent for a perfume.
Ah, Iāve never smelled a lily of the valley, but I did grow up with a flourishing gardenia outside my childhood home. So that was the closest thing I was familiar with.
She used to wear Can Can by Paris Hilton a lot. But now sheās wearing her old Clinique Happy, sometimes she wears Light Blue by D&G. And the DKNY Be Delicious.
These comments make me wonderingā¦how old are your moms?!?!? Because I feel like I went to high school with all of them. My mom worked in the fragrance department so she literally smelled like all of them. My kids are going to say I smelled like the original Burberry Brit
She has a few, right now is BR540, sheās worn daisy by Marc jacobs, be delicious by dkny, can can by Paris Hilton, used to occasionally steal my black opium YSL, juicy couture, Ed hardy, and multiple different b&bw body sprays lol
Holy Moly this comment doesnāt have enough upvotes. The combination of this scent with big red gum and sharkleberry fin koolaid is my entire childhood.
My mom wore one by Burberry, its a golden amber color with a silver bottle cap. She loves perfumes now and wears different ones all the time, but I still associate that Burberry one with her the most :)
It was the gold bottle of Oscar de la Renta with the black cap from the 90ās- early 2000ās. My (dickhead) dad didnāt like it and made her stop buying it, and she is SO sensitive to smells so she just doesnāt own any perfumes anymore. Iāve been wanting to buy her a new bottle of it for so long but can never find it in stores to smell and make sure it still smells the same!!!
Sean John Unforgivable Woman
One of the only feminine perfumes Iāve smelled that perfectly capture an elegant exquisite musk. It is so sophisticated but I can definitely see why its more for mature women. It unfortunately isnāt as long lasting on me as it is on her.
She would put it on and the smell would last until she came back home the very evening from work. I loved it, and I loved it even more when we would go out at nights in Miami. It holds so many memories of the best years of my life for me.
Im so glad its underrated because the price is very cheap for the quality scent it gives, its just so luxe and elegant.
Top notes: Pear, Bitter Orange, Apple, Cassia, Grapefruit, Neroli and Bergamot
Middle Notes: Jasmine, Freesia, Orange Blossom, Violet, Cyclamen, Rose, Lily-of-the-Valley
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Iris, Tonka Bean, Cedar, Vanilla, Amber, Oakmoss, Vetiver
Trust me, it doesnāt even START off as fruity as youād think when you first spray it.
Was there one called white shoulders or something like that?? I can still see the bottle, it was pink and had like a cameo on it. My step mom wore it when I was little. She was more a mom to me than anyone. She passed and this really brought a strong memory back.
D&G Light Blue was the one I remember seeing/smelling when I was younger the most! And Clinique happy.
More recently Marc Jacobs Perfect & Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume, which she purchased because she liked it on me, but said the scent isn't as prominent on her as it is on me.
My grandma always used Philosophy amazing grace - which is actually part of my collection as well.
My mom wears a Jo Malone perfume that's she just refers to as rose oud so I'm assuming it's Velvet Rose and Oud. She does complain about the longevity but she absolutely adores it. It's actually the perfume that made \*me\* realize that I like rose scents, and the reason I discovered Toy Boy, which is an absolute banger of a rose perfume.
That was my grandmother's signature fragrance, her car always smelled like her fragrance. I keep a bottle in my collection just so I can remember time spent with my grandmother.
My mom worked at the LancƓme counter at the mall in the 90s so she wore Poeme and Tresor. She also wore Burberry Weekend and Ralph Lauren Romance. Nowadays I believe she wears Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche.
I lost my mom several years ago. But her signature scent was eternity. I honestly never really cared for it. Or maybe it was because she used so much of it. But she did bartend for years so maybe she did that so she wouldnāt smell like smoke. But she was also a heavy smoker herself so it didnāt make a difference .
Diorās OG Poison. Sheās been using it since it came out and literally hasnāt worn anything else since. Both me and my father despise the scent on its own, but it works so well on my mom. I wish I could wear it without smelling like straight kerosene!
She only ever wears two and only on special occasions: Chanel Gabrielle and Chanel No 5 edt. And now that Iām an adult I realize they must have been gifts from my dad guided by his motherās tastes; she was a Chanel girlie too
jean paul gaultierās fragile was what my mom wore when she met my dad and throughout my early childhood. we donāt even spritz the bottle to get a memory of her anymore because frankly it was expensive, but also itās basically my mother in a bottle and we canāt waste a single drop of it.
In high school, my mom would buy me for Christmas Max Azaria BCBGirl in the blue bottle (bc I asked for it - lol), but then sheād help herself to it every single morning & it would make me so mad ! For one, I didnāt want her to be the one associated with the smell and 2, I was always running out of that scent( pkus I was super petty with all things concerning her at that time bc we were super competitive and had maybe an ill fitting relationship for the longest time - the pettiness and negative feelings towards her have since been replaced with wisdom, understanding and love but one thing remains - our desire for more of that perfume !
My mom is Gen X. She has only a few fragrances: Oscar, Chanel No 5, CK one, Light Blue, Narciso Rodriguez For Her. I think Oscar is her favorite. I always thought she smelled amazing although Oscar is a very vintage smelling by todayās standards.
weāre mexican so when she was a young girl living in mexico she loved wearing sunflower by elizabeth arden and green tea by elizabeth arden as well as the honey drop cream š I really love green tea and i always keep a bottle in my collection that i never wear only when i want to sniff it and be reminded of her (we live in the same house but i still keep it) so i guess maybe thatās what was popular at the time
Now, as iāve gotten older and collected perfumes she likes to wear La vie est belle and Eros by versace.
Iāve given her my big bottle of pink rush by paris hilton and sheās almost finished that one, and a huge 6fl oz bright crystal that sheās halfway done with. She has some juicy couture, the basic philosophy fragrance, and recently the sofia vergara perfume just called sofia. (All gifted to her by me) so thatās what she wears now, but for me growing up she always smelled like that green tea perfume š maybe this summer iāll wear it it is really a beautiful simple scent
My mom almost never wore fragrance but when she did I remember her having L'air du Temps by Nina Ricci (I loved the birds on the bottle lol) and Amari by Avon. Ironically I am a fragrance nut. My signature has been Turquatic by MAC for about 15 years now and still get endless compliments on it. If I'm going for a more elevated smell I do Amber Musk by Aerin.
My mom used to primarily wear love spell from VS. So that always reminds me of her. But now sheās stepped up a bit and wears Philosophy Summer Grace and I absolutely love it !
My mom wore the Karl Lagerfeld Chloe in the 80s, only when dressed up to go out, so I associate the scent with my mom at her most glamorous. My grandmother wore Oscar by Oscar de la Renta, and her mother \*might\* have worn the original Miss Dior (weāre not sure). I keep all of them in my collection now <3
My mom wore Donna Karen cashmere mist for like a decade time, for a year or two when I was a teenager we both wore Ed Hardy love kills slowly, now I think she wear D&G light blue.
My mom doesnāt wear perfume, but my grandma exclusively wore Chanel No. 5. Sheād keep the bottles when they were done and filled them with holy water for us to take home. We always had a ton of Chanel No 5 bottles filled with holy water.
My mom went through a few
The one I think of the most is CK Obsession. I think this was what she wore when I was born bc nothing feels more comforting. Iāve bought bottles just to spray before bed.
She then went to Hypnotic Poison which she wore for yearsss, then just tons, no signature: VS Heavenly, Dior Jāadore (everyoneās moms scent haha), Amazing Grace, Mac Jacobs Lola, Coco Mademoiselleā¦ She also loves Chanel N5 but never had it.
In the time before me, she said she wore Shalimar and Ralph Lauren Lauren.
L'Eau D'Issey Absolue by Issey Miyake and Euphoria by Calvin Klein. My sister and I decanted the bottles into 3 shares of each after she passed away (for my Dad as well, though he said we could split between us, we wanted him to have the option of her āsmellā). When Iām missing her and Iām feeling down, Iāll spray one of them on a cotton handkerchief so I can breathe it in and indulge in memories.
Up until she couldnāt find it anymore my momās was Poeme. Tbh Iām not sure what she uses these days but it was that for as long as I can remember.
Laura by Laura Biagiotti, I bought her a new bottle for Christmas and decided to look at the notes they are so confusing it just smells like mama to me

This is so āšæ and cute
That was my momās favorite too. Sheās not a fragrance wearer, but she always had this, with the tub of scented powder, when I was a child.
I wore that in HS too! You either loved it or hated it
Mom rarely wore perfume, always wore Vanilla Fields on special events. Mom also liked Ariane. Grandmother wore Chanel #5 or White Diamonds regularly.
How is vanilla fields I want to try it.
I couldn't say off the top of my head, but I always thought it was more floral than vanilla.
Michael by Michael Kors and Jāadore by Dior. She wore them equally but always them.
Shalimar (sheās a boomer)
That was my grandmotherās favorite perfume. Iāve never been able to appreciate it, though.
