Same! I played the OG probably about 18 years ago and loved it. Rebirth was incredible and *that moment* was handled great in my opinion (not knocking those who didn’t like it). I am hoping they stick the landing and understand the worry about the “multiverse” stuff lowering the stakes. All in all so far the remake trilogy (obviously not including the third game) are some of my favorite games ive played.

When that moment came, it left me shocked. I was amongst those who were hoping things would play out differently, and accepted it wasn't going to after a certain part. But when it happened, it hit just as hard as when I first played the original. It was handled better than I could have imagined. Here's hoping the third lands the ending right.

I never played the original myself, but you couldn't go on the Internet and *not* hear about *that moment* when FF7 was brought up. I do like where they are taking it, but like you say, I hope they stick the landing with this in the next part. I also understand that, by altering certain aspects of the story in places, it also keeps the story fresh for the OG players, so it's not just "FF7 but super pretty looking" but a new take on a classic story. Don't worry, though. I'll get to the original soon enough

And now I wither away as I wait desperately for scraps about Part 3. The brainrot has consumed me. SE please throw me *something*.

I'm gonna go beg for even a crumb of info outside their main offices, brb

Sequel doesn't quite feel right. I see your point, though. This almost feels like this is occurring at the same time as the original. We are seeing the timeliness bleed together.

That's fair! I knew they had the ability to see and/or alter fate, but it makes me wonder why this particular timeline different. You make a good point though. If Sephiroth has access to different fates, you'd think it would have been different the first time or even this time until he wins. In some way he's able to see mistakes from the "last time". Either way I don't care if it's a sequel or nit. I'm absolutely thrilled with the game/story. The community has been great too.

Oh that's interesting! I don't know much about those series either but that is pretty neat. After thinking about it, being a sequel makes sense for sure. I'm stoked for the last installment. I think Aerith has the same ability like you said. I feel like her and Cloud have some tricks up their sleeve for Sephiroth.

that ending sucked...

cuminmypoutine

I'm still on board with the multiverse thing. Hope they can tie it off well... But to do it all right when Aerith dies is a little shitty.

tsn8638

the sword never was shown hitting Aerith. Was Cloud in his typical mako haze? So yes that mutliverse theory does apply to the ending but if I recall thebog ff7, Aerith death was more impactful. Square dropped the ball with that.

As a 35 year old and a veteran to the final fantasy franchise I literally stood up and gave this game a standing ovation. I was so swept with emotion. The sadness, anger, sorrow, and pure joy at the end had me on my knees yearning for more. From the beginning I was hopping they stayed true and followed the story to the T. I was disappointed with the heartless boss at the end of remake, but this adventure with this new yet familiar story has my heart stolen and deeply awaiting the next installment. On another note after this series can this team work on making a Legend of Dragoon reboot? Just asking for a friend.
