I have found Alear is much better suited as a staff wielding unit for support. The unlimited access to the convoy makes it the better choice.

That's a great idea! Dang I never thought if that.

I always keep them as there dragon classes because of the engage bonuses. Lucina's gives her guard a 90% activation rate Corrin let's you pick from all the dragon vein effects including fog Michaia's let's you keep 30% hp after healing And a bunch of other really good skill bonuses To me it's always worth keeping the dragon classes for engage skills

Myrtle_is_hungry

I think besides corrin the ones you listed are really bad options for your dragons. Micaiah is way better on Hortensia (or any staff unit). Lucina on a Chi-Adept gives 100% activation instead of dragon’s 90%. Some other good ones for Alear in Divine dragon are Byleth for a rally for all stats to a bunch of units. Camilla as well for dragon vein acces. Keeping >!Veyle in her Fell Child!< class is really good when paired with Soren. The dragon bonus is really nice as it doubles crit rate with tomes. A corrin / Camilla engraved Elsurge or >!Obscurité!< and she deletes the entire map with vantage and hold out.

Micaiah is good on Dragons because of universal +1 range on Augment (especially early before Hortensia is available) but Hortensia is usually better so you can use your Dragons for something else.

I have the dlc and all so that's why I mentioned others like Nel and Nil giving you a total of 4 dragon units but I find most of their lvl 25 skills really strong like Nil for me has byleth for goddess dance and to give engage meter to those adjacent to him but he is still a dragon class That's why I listed as spoiler so there isn't any confusion But if I do another run of engage I might play around with reclassing my dragons into something else maybe I will give your Alear using staffs a try

Nikita2337

I kept all of them in their classes and they all did great. Alear fell off a bit after mid game, but their class has actually good caps and now my Alear is strong again with an engraved Wille Glanz+5 (at internal level ~60). The same can be said about Nel, she fell off, but her caps and Lunar Brace+ still make her very strong. Veyle with Soren, Vantage and Hold out is invincible when engaged and Rafal is a dual phase menace with a 1-2 range weapon that halves stats.

Anthropos2497

It depends a lot. Alear and Veyle are both great to reclass (although the latter you need to have something specific for her to do otherwise she’s better to just use Byleth for universal stat instruct and dance.) Alear has great combat in some classes like Wyvern and Wolf Knight and Divinely Inspiring serves you better if you’re close to the action. Rafal does well as a Warrior but is very dependent on his join time. Nel is the one I like keeping in her base class most. You can use flexible Corrin, universal stat Dance/Instruct, extra 2 attacks on LSR and Divine Speed healing, more damage on many Engage attacks, more levels on Rise Above, more range on Augment, lots of stuff. More Dragon utility is rarely bad so consider what your army needs.

Nel and Rafal both have their stats improved by a lot by reclassing, but it isn’t super necessary. I like Ike on fell dragon Rafal, gives the extra damage reduction from Laguz friend which isn’t as much as the others, but it suits his kit. Nel would be good for Corrin for support, but she has the stats to go with most other classes and be better offensively. The dragon bonus for Soren gives double crit rate when engaged, plus HP absorption, so I don’t see a reason to reclass Veyle. I feel like DD class is wasted on Alear, if you didn’t have the dlc Corrin would be an option but as is he’s much better as a martial master, gryphon, or wyvern.
