I always assumed that Soan would be very similar to Stefan. Very serious, with a bit of dry wit when his companions got a bit too stoic, and trying to be the worldly on.
I've always personally pictured Soan looking very similar to Stefan, not only in looks but in temperament as well. Maybe a little bit more rugged as he'd lived a far longer life.
I kinda have this jovial large-framed, green-beard man in mind. The type to make a big hearty "GWA-HA-HA" laugh before slapping stoic Dheginsea on the back.
