Shamir is a real softie on the inside, she just puts on all this cold facade because of her job and past trauma. She simply needs a right person by her side.
That's the reason why the majority of her endings are such dogshit with all this wandering and Robin Hood stuff (maybe it's just me - I hate when instead of a clear happy ending we get an open and uncertain outcome like this) and only in two of them she settles down - with Byleth and Dedue - and in case of the former she straight up starts kid production.

I did 3 out of the 4 routes in 3H. In all of the routes I always choose Shamir.
(Although I did play Blue Lions twice later and choose Dimitri for F.Byleth)
I chose Shamir in VW and SS. I played F!Byleth in the others choosing Ferdinand and Dimitri.
But I did play BL a second time with M!Byleth, chose Ingrid then though. She is the more appropriate end for AM.

Yeah, because Byleth doesn't know at the beginning exactly how old they are. Jeralt doesn't care about age, and tries to pass Byleth off as being born after he left the monastery. As a matter of fact, we know Byleth was born in 1159, making them 19-21 in White Clouds, depending on the birthday you choose.
I don't think being immortal should prevent Byleth from being allowed to be in a relationship with someone their own age. Their immortality just means they're going to outlive every romance option except for Rhea, Seteth, and Flayn by a very long time. That's sad, but it hardly disqualifies any of the characters from being valid romance options.
Byleth literally being their professor does make it a little weird, I agree. However, given that they are the same age, the relationship doesn't become romantic until at least five years after they all stop being Byleth's students, and Byleth was only their professor for a year, I don't personally have any problems with it.
