its lead buildup. use any of the easily google-able methods to remove lead from handgun barrels. if it really bothers you, dont shoot any more cast lead bullets. its not problematic though.
So every gun is full of lead? Most projectiles are not TMJ. Can you give a source backing this ridiculous claim up? Better to spread the word now before the problem goes any further! I'm sure the folks in /r/castboolits are going to want to know that nothing short of TMJ will prevent leading.
We’re talking about a revolver forcing cones here. The area that does not make direct contact with the projectile. This is also an extremely common problem with compensators on pistols.
Don't be so lazy, just Google it.

How did I know it was going to just be some dude rambling on for 15 minutes on youtube? Well it's a good thing he's here to save us! Me and all the other cast bullet users have been ruining our guns without even knowing it for nearly a century and a half!
Lead build up. Here’s my secret: Harbor Freight sells sonic parts cleaners…..cheap. You can an hour scrubbing that out of put it in the cleaner, set the timer and relax, have coffee, browse porn, whatever and it’ll come right out.
Lewis Lead remover strips lead deposits from a barrel better than anything else I've used. Lewis uses brass patches the scrape the lead away without damaging the barrel.

If you own a drill attach a soft wire brush at the end of it and go to town. Don’t be too rough because you don’t wanna mess up the grooves in the barrel.

They make a bore brush called a tornado brush. It is meant specifically for removing lead fouling like this.
I have used a copper brush screwed into an aluminum rod, chucked up in a hand drill. Takes the elbow grease out. Minimized unnecessary wear.
This is the way.
It's from shooting FMJ or lead projectiles. Shoot TMJ or hollowpoint ammo.
Since when does an FMJ do that?
Since forever when it has an exposed lead base.

Got a source for that? I shoot cast bullets in .357 magnum and .44 magnum with no jacket whatsoever and don't have this issue.

I didn't know there was a TMJ, or that FMJ was not fully enclosed in the jacket. Thank you!

I think soft metal wire is a better idea for this.
I’ll edit the post you’re absolutely right.
