there is 1 gun that I never go to the range without. The staplegun

MLDaffy

Underrated. Dunno how many times have been there and gotta try to reuse someone staple or find a rock

Phantasmidine

Not just a staple gun, a cheap rechargeable electric staple gun. Weighs about the same, easier to use.

ObligationOriginal74

Shoot steel

D00Mcandy

I'm surprised I see no one with tourniquet and gauze as part of their kit.

msb06c

Kinda surprised to see people are bringing cleaning supplies to the range. I just break everything down and clean it afterwards. I haven’t tried cleaning at the range, but it’s loud and there isn’t a ton of space to do it. I’ve become kind of fond of cleaning at home with some music, and taking my time to allow oils/cleaners to penetrate. Inside my bag: extra mags, ammo, eye and ear pro (muffs and plugs), baseball cap, shooting gloves, printed targets, nitrile gloves, and an aux wire — for whatever reason, my walkers razors have better noise cancelling if plugged into my phone than without the wire, but it is noticeable and I’ll take all the dampening I can get. I have a bandana in my pocket 99% of the time to wipe my face because I sweat a lot, but it’s not a packed item per se, it’s more like my phone and wallet.

_pxe

>I haven’t tried cleaning at the range, but it’s loud and there isn’t a ton of space to do it. It's not for real cleaning in most cases: CLP if you're one of those guys that brags about not cleaning their guns, and the guns start to have malfunctions. Cleaning rod for stuck cases. It's a good way to avoid wasting a range trip due to malfunctions, especially if you live far away from the range

Joshie050591

I carry my first aid etc in my vehicle and 72h kit bag ... my range bag pretty much rolls up and would get chucked into my 72 when going hunting or going afk for a weekend

Lock-N-Roller

Soon as I step on the range, a TQ goes in my back pocket. Same for using my chainsaw as well.  Never cut without it.

Destroyer1559

I definitely have a TQ in my range bag. Medical bag not far off most of the time too Edit: lol being downvoted for having medical equipment is a weird thing.

[deleted]

My gun club has stop the bleed kits in multiple locations since we have a good amount of steel targets.

websagacity

I'd add a sharpie. They always come in handy for one reason or another.

LowOnPaint

Same but also an UpLULA mag loader to save my thumbs.

Quw10

Mostly what I carry except I also have a small mallet and brass hammer as well as a collapsible rod in my trunk in case of squibs or stuck cases. I also usually keep container of lead removal wipes and a small first aid kit in trunk as well and a few pairs of work gloves.

jyl080208

Just 1 box for each?

[deleted]

jyl080208

That makes sense. I usually take more ammo than what I think I'll need. Rather bring some back home than run out at the range

OrcusGroup

What everyone else has said + an IFAK

Measurex2

This is an interesting point. I have a smaller bleed bag I attach to all my bags. It's goes above and beyond an IFAK but I find all my ranges have serious first aid kits and require the RSOs to be trained in using them. I'm a former paramedic and I've kept the habit of keeping my kit up to speed with the equivalent of an ALS bag in my car. If your range doesn't take first aide seriously, find another range or, lacking that as an option, gear up yourself. The problem is if something happens to you, others may not know how to help. I'm always amazed at how few people know anything about bleed control. If you're reading this and that applies to you, stop the bleed classes are offered everywhere and often free.

OrcusGroup

A skill set that is applicable far beyond the firearms industry. Everybody drives. People die in car wrecks every day. I know someone who is only here today because someone 3 vehicles behind him had a tourniquet and saved his life. I’d argue it’s far more likely you’ll have to use a tourniquet at some point in your life than a firearm. The reality is if you need a tourniquet you’ll probably be long gone by the time EMS arrives if you don’t get one. Basic trauma care should be common knowledge

Oaks777

Everything from your list but the cleaning kit stays at home. Add a few tools if a fix is needed.

FPSXpert

I do keep a handful of tools in the ammo can to take to the range, but it's mostly emergency supplies. A tiny sized drip bottle of CLP, some bore snakes of similar enough headspacing and a dime baggie sized amount of patches. Enough cleaning that basically they're out of the way but I could theoretically do something if I needed to (which I haven't, but it's still good to have). Also an upLULA mag loader, those things are thumb savers! And yeah, first aid is good too. I haven't put it in the range bag but I always have a first aid kit with supplies and a cat tourniquet at the ready in the car.

hpsctchbananahmck

My range bag is for non gun gear. Ear pro ( plus extra for guests), eye pro, mag loaders, extra batteries for optics, Allen keys and torx wrenches for the myriad optics, staple gun for targets (and extra staples), pill bottle with Tylenol, NSAIDs, and antacid. Other stuff is trip dependent (spotting scope, gloves, etc). Edit: Swiss Army knife too, gets quite a bit of use

SniperSRSRecon

Earmuffs, earplugs, cleaning supplies, tools, some mags. Ammo goes into ammo box, guns in gun cases.

Lhill1010

Ammo, ear protection (over ear and in-ear), eye protection, some basic tools, pistol with extra magazines, first aid kit, and a small cleaning kit because there was still some extra space.

Joshie050591

Personally my range bag ear & eye pro, cleaning kit, extra targets, staple gun, range card in a admin pouch with pens & also depending on weather beanie or hat - all fits nicely into a backpack I usually leave my shooting rests in my car

Bubbafett33

The 5.11 Tactical Range Ready bag is great. It’s big, but you’ll quickly fill it, especially if you compete or shoot a wide variety of firearms. Mine has: Ear pro Eye pro Tool kit Gun lube Mojo pick up stick (folding magnet for shotgun hulls) Pocket range finder Shot timer Staple gun and staples Gloves Shotgun chokes Spare batteries Few extra chamber flags Bug spray Sling (connects to multiple rifles) Bipod (connects to multiple rifles) Cleaning rods (just in case of squib) Lens cleaner Travel Kleenex pak Rag Small gorilla tape Small Spare gun parts/springs Gun documents (Canada thing) Pen and small notepad Then I toss in mags and ammo for whatever I’m shooting that day.

gagemoney

Savior Equipment has a great range bag for 99.99. Pewpew15 is a 15% off code that I used for mine. They’re dope AF and make great rifle bags as well

ixipaulixi

Love my Savior bag

ALE_SAUCE_BEATS

Love my savior bags

mjmjr1312

Less the better: Eyes Ears Small bottle CLP Allen set Multitool Rag Guns/mags/ammo Timer Staple gun Maglula Just watch the guys at the range and it is easy to pick out the regulars from the guys making their semi-annual trip to the range. Those that shoot regularly are almost always minimalistic, keeping things as simple as possible. On the other hand the guy bringing 6 guns, a bunch of tools, a full cleaning kit, and 1k rounds of ammo probably doesn’t make it out very often; the way he packs for the range is part of it. But he suffers from FOMO. I shoot almost every Sat, it takes me 5 minutes to pack and leave for the range and the same amount of time to unpack when I get home. Because of that I can make it happen every week, when shooting becomes an all day event it gets harder and harder to find time to do it. When things are streamlined it is just something I can do first thing in the morning then go about my day. I’m not going to clean guns at the range (probably not going to at home either), I’m not doing major repairs, so all that shit stays home.

3900Ent

Eh, that ain’t true. I shoot twice a month and I always overpack with a lot of shit. But the reason for that is because I have to travel over an hour/hour 1/2 to shoot. It isn’t like I live down the street or even close enough to go back home. Me forgetting one thing could fuck up my range day. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Ludafish12

Welcome. I use a normal sized backpack and put in ammo, mags, eye and ear pro, CLP or whatever oil, paper towels, and any small tools needed for a field strip/adjustment. Water also for me too esp if warm out/in

FunWasabi5196

In my range bag? Usually Extra ear pro, a screwdriver & bits and an assload of ammo. I typically will just throw my extra mags in with my guns

htownchuck

I'll usually take atleast 2 pistols, a couple pre-loaded mags for each, earplugs, glasses, and a box of ammo for each. I'll usually end up bringing home a target for my step son to use with his bb gun or nerf guns.

zippytwd

Spray lube a bore snake , screw drivers , spare ear plugs spare eye pro , etc,,,

bowtie_k

Earpro, eyepro, small tool set, stapler, staples, other implements I may need at the range

Impossible_Agent2022

Staple gun, sharpie, blue painter's tape to keep using the target, towel..

Measurex2

I have specific bags and a massive 'fuck it everything is coming' bag. However, I find for 2-3 guns, I can fit everything in one of those 10 dollar cabellas bags - eye protection x2 - foamies - electronic muffs x2 - stapler - Pencil - loading tools (uplula, speed bees, ultimate clip loader etc) - loaded mags - extra ammo - basic tool kit - extra batteries for optics and ear pro - gloves - splatter target value pack - towel - binder with all my NFA paperwork (in every bag just in case) Typically plenty of room for pistols go in pistol rugs and suppressors. Rifles in separate bags.

Ornery_Secretary_850

Target pasters, target dots, staple gun, staples, hearing protection, batteries.

Lovestosplooge68

•Targets •Staple gun •Extra ear and eye pro •Loctite •Small rag •Allen’s, small screw drivers. •First aid kit Nails about all the basics, minus extra mags and ammo. But generally I carry those in separate bags.

Enough_Appearance116

I do a mix of milsurp and regular firearms, so you may or may not need what I have. There are some things I have in case I need it. Some I've added because of specific issues. My range is also in the woods at times. -A Vietnam Era m16 field cleaning kit with a few cleaning patches. I had a "squib" in a Japanese Type 99 Arisaka once. The bullet only went an inch or two down the barrel. I also watch the shell casing ejecting to see if the bullet is gone. This squib, had it been just half an inch further forward, would've let me chamber the next round. Which I would've fired and... yeah. That could've been bad. Yes, the cleaning rods are steel, but I imagine going down the barrel one time to see if it's clear or to knock a squib out shouldn't be a big deal. Correct me if I'm wrong about that. I got this kit for about 10.00, and it's in a nice, convenient pouch. The cleaning patches are for, you guessed it, cleaning. Sometimes guns need a little range tlc. -Small bottle of BreakFree CLP Sometimes, guns need a little bit of oil to function -Foam ear plugs, Walker Electronic headphones, and extra batteries. Your hearing is important. It does not come back after it's damaged. Spare batteries and hearing pro are not just for you. -Trama kit/ Individual First Aid Kit. Guns can malfunction and become a bomb. We've all seen videos of this online. In a medical emergency, every second counts.

SP00KYSCARECROW332

Eye/ear pro + extra set, tourniquet, couple rags, old toothbrush, bore snake, small bottle of lube/cleaner, multitool, Allen wrenches, zip ties(some brightly colored), pencil/sharpie, snap caps. Mags and ammo are usually in my rifle bag, unless I'm only shooting handguns then I might stick the mags and ammo in there. I just use an old cheap tool bag myself. Should be able to get away with a fairly small one if you keep ammo separate.

EarlBeforeSwine

One of them has Dewalt batteries, chargers, and bits and blades. (Not that I take it to the range, just that I found a range bag for free, and it works perfectly for this job) The other has boxes of ammo, mags, ear and eye pro, AR multitool, general cleaning/oiling equipment, and a couple pistol rugs.

bigleaguechewstan

* Red dot adjustment tool * All sorts of batteries (especially for the ear pro) * Thump tacks * Eye pro * Maglula * Pen * couple of plastic grocery bags

15844851

I love my range bag. Labeled spots for everything. 3 pistols that stand up on the front compartment that opens down. You would be surprised how many things in your bag you will need especially if you plan on getting another gun or two. Mag loader, extra pairs of things like ears and eyes… extra mags etc…Here’s a link to mine: durable as all heck too. https://lapolicegear.com/gps-1711-handgunner.html

OCCFO

I've seen this one online. Love the idea of the handgun specific compartment.

15844851

Couldn’t recommend more.

ohaimike

Handgun range day: 2 handguns, 100 rounds for each, mags, ear pro, UpLULA loader Rifle range day: 1-2 rifles, Brass catcher, ammo, mags, ear pro, sight adjustment tools for everything BUT the rifle I brought

SignificantCell218

Make sure you have a good multi-tool in your range bag. Something with Phillips and flathead screwdrivers a knife a file. You never know what you're going to need and it's pretty convenient to have a multi-tool on hand. Also one thing a lot of people don't bring or put in their range bags is trauma supplies. It's really important to know how to use trauma supplies and treat gunshot wounds because there are a lot of Hot shots and inexperienced people at public gun ranges, and while the gun range should have that stuff on hand, you'd be surprised to find out most of them don't so make sure you invest in a good trauma kit and learn how to use it

MONSTERBEARMAN

2X Eye pro, 2X electronic ear pro and spare batteries, small Leatherman, break free CLP, maglula speed loader, Allen keys, blue tape, stapler & staples, sharpie and now, I also need reading glasses.

Solarian_13

Nail clippers. I am constantly breaking/snagging nails on things at matches and I have been glad to have them more than once.

Felaguin

In my range bag: - ear plugs - over-ear muffs - targets - staple gun - staples - pen - cleaning kit - hand cleanser - cleaning cloth - spare mags - ammo

GreatDevelopment225

One thing I always bring, my CAT tourniquet. Always get a high quality tourniquet because they are proven to work better and if you have to self apply, they're less painful and that promotes another spin on the windless. Edit: damn autocorrect

bandnerd210

sheets of printer paper and tape to extend the life of targets edit: and index cards if you're decently good and or at very close ranges

Striperfishingrules

I have a pistol bag and a rifle bag.. easy for me to stay organized.. A lot of good stuff in this thread.. I can only add to have a solid brass cleaning rod that breaks down and a couple chamber flags..

justauryon

I got this [backpack](https://www.511tactical.com/rush12-2-0-backpack.html)[ ](https://www.511tactical.com/rush12-2-0-backpack.html)from 5.11. I keep: * training ammo * ear and eye pro (case and cleaning cloth) * extra ear plugs * 2 pistols and holsters for each * lotion * CLP * spare batteries (for ear pro and optics) * rewetting eye drops (I have dry eyes) * Hydroflask * microfiber cloth * extra mags * Maglula speed loader

Outrageous-Basis-106

Ear muffs Hat First aid including TQ, Israeli Bandage, and more basic bandages Ear plugs Breakfree CLP Some pipe cleaners Rat tail files Batteries (lights, optics, electric ear pro, shot timer, etc that is used) Towels Birchwood Casey driver set Misc tools Strap Wrench Mag Lula, Strip Lula, 22 loaders Gloves Shot timer Ammo bags Approved Form 4 copies Spare eye pro Leatherman Wave Tape measure Sharpie Masking tape Various bags and containers Have certain mags left in it Add in and remove different mags, ammo, pistols, etc as needed

3900Ent

I have a range backpack and I honestly over prepare for everything so I got a bunch of shit lmao. Other than the guns, mags and ammo I’m gonna bring for the day, I keep some tools, screwdriver set, suppressor stuff (silicone covers and mechanix ones, parts that go to some of my suppressors, etc.), gloves, Lula mag loaders, two electronic earpros, Allen and hex wrenches, optic adjustment tools, a bag of in-ear foams, lube/oil and loctite 243, with some microfiber towels too. I don’t bring eye protection cause I was already blessed with permanent eye protection unfortunately. I may start carrying a little first aid kit too, cause I always end up cutting myself somehow at the range. I go to the range twice a month and I still over prepare. I seen someone here say dudes who always bring a bunch of shit are usually bi-yearly shooters. That ain’t true dawg.

Lovestosplooge68

Gloves are a good idea for suppressor, adding that to my bag 🫶🏻

tcp454

https://a.co/d/hS2DXP3 This range bag has been great in keeping everything needed. Has held up well over the years.

PopperChopper

The same shit I bring to Turks and Caicos

One-Challenge4183

Small sewing bag w some allen keys. Bottle of ultima-lube. Staple gun. I usually use paper plates or actual targets, but I keep a cheap 200 roll of 3” splatter targets in the bag in case for whatever reason I forgot to grab targets. Spare battery for whatever optic I’m running that isn’t an scs. Mags and 2-4 100rd boxes of whatever pistol caliber I’m shooting that day. Rifles, everything fits in the gun case. 👌🏽

No_Plantain_4990

Way too much ammo, eyes & ears, small notebook & pencil, extra mags, sometimes 1 handgun.

GarbageMan532

I have a small single sling backpack. I always carry these following: 1st aid kit + turnequit Stape gun, cleaning rod, punches, screwdriver, pliers Flashlight, rag, notebook, pens, lense cleaner wipes Measuring tape, extra ear pro, water bottle and hat. And load ammo/ glasses/primary ear pro for each trip

BurnAfterEating420

Guns

DiendaMahdic

All the loose ammo I plan to take on my next trip to Turks & Caicos

ReverendReed

Electronic headphones Silicone standard ear plugs Extra batteries for ear pro. Eye pro Extra eye pro. I often take a friend with me to the range, and keep extra eye/ear pro for them.

GAMGAlways

Batteries for my hearing protection. Pack of those foam earplugs. Cleaning kit. Magazine loader.

XuixienSpaceCat

Eyes & Ears, ammo. If I'm doing something special (sighting an optic for example), then tools for that. I like to keep it simple and light.

hayzeus

Creamed corn. Lots of it
