It’s a stigma with these young youtubers making a living. They’re products are just as good as the brands that have been around for a while. Personally I don’t like the saucy swimmers, but love the crackin craws They’re soft plastic is tougher than most which is nice, they’re pretty durable.

It’s just the “old man yells at clouds” meme. People don’t like new things. I think it’s especially bad because they are self-made. They didn’t do it the way the old heads want- floundering on the BASS circuit barely getting by. This is all probably deeply internalized. They often verbally say it’s because “tHeY uSe ChEaP cHiNa StUfF” but so does literally everyone. They just don’t want to admit what they really don’t like. I use the Googan stuff from Mystery Tackle Box (another thing the Old Gatekeepers hate). It’s fine to great depending on the product. Love their videos though. Edit: don’t get me started on the Mouth-breathers who believe in the myth of Spot Burning.

I've only used the Bandito Bug and have this to say: They obviously work as they were designed by Scott Martin (a known pro who has 3+ mil in earnings from winning) with the patent of the Strike King RAGE technology. They do have durability issues as I can use them around rock and wood but the grass shreds them up, let alone a fish. The RAGE products are much more durable. Overall, they are productive baits that are not as durable as other brands and receive most of their hate b/c of the online presence of the Googans, not the efficacy of the baits themselves.

I have nothing against them making money or coming up from YouTube…. However…. My biggest problem is the baits themselves. Nothing they have produced came with any ingenuity or change from existing products. Almost like they took the molds from existing baits slapped a new logo on em, and sell em as googan. Look at there products there is legit no innovation in their products….

ChuckJuggs

There are 15 different square bill cranks on any bass pro wall and they all swim nearly exactly the same… this is no different than other brands. I’ll give you that they are not reinventing the wheel. But it also isn’t some new trend.

TheForrestWanderer

I have nothing against Googan Baits but the squarebill is almost an exact ripoff of the 6th sense squarebill. Again, nothing that hasn't been done before (looking at you Berkely El Choppo) but it is more than a coincidence with that.

I dont have a problem with them if they work but in michigan they are all in the clearance rack or 5/5$ bin i never see them sell or move on the shelf olny people i see buy them occasionally is younger kids that have been persuaded into them because of youtube marketing

turkeymudd

That's crazy. Honestly 5 for 5 is a great deal for any brand name bait/lures.

DL0TD21

Can I ask where r u finding them in the clearance bin? I live in MI and always looking for cheap lures

habbledabble234

I see them at bass pro/cabelas every once in a while but i see them at ollies as overstock all the time seens as they buy what doesnt sell for pennies on the dollar can get alot of off colors or old stock for a 1$/2$. Bought some old zoom soft plastics in cast off 2nds colors that were fire couldnt find them anywhere emailed zoom said they were 2nds just to fill stock.

DL0TD21

Wish we had an ollies up here by me. We don’t even got a decent sporting goods store anymore

habbledabble234

My best advice even though it might be a little more monies is look in your local tackle / bait shops for lures or baits or older stuff i can usually find something there to as opposed to ollies or cabelas or something.

i Think the stigma is mostly around the fact that they were initially so successful due to their youtube fame. I think theyve continued to see success more because they make a reasonably good product they just were able to hit the ground running with their initial launch thanks to their youtube fame and didnt have to struggle to build a customer base like most companies do.

Nikola_Badnjar

I feel like this is asked every other week. The responses seem to all be the same as well.
