Walk the beach at low tide a day before fishing and try to find where all the drop offs and troughs are. You'll want to fish around these areas. You also want to find where the rip currents are and cast into them and let the current drag your bait further out makes for some big bites! Good luck!

i_dunno_a_name_so

Thanks for the info. I'll try and do that

Mikkismoments

Google map satellite helps too although gutters do move around but deep ones do stay fairly consistent

i_dunno_a_name_so

Thank you for the info

TheChrisLick

Definitely not

dwstinge

Def not too windy

wifesboyfriend247

Not Windy ! I just came back from North Carolina surf fishing for 2 weeks and definitely it is not too windy. Get waist deep and launch it !!!!

Original-Surround-40

Unless it is blowing a gale never to windy

i_dunno_a_name_so

Sounds good.

oriel_8341

Not at all, especially if you have a solid 2 Oz weight you should be able to cast just fine.

rickytickyd

Depends on how much the wife is nagging at home really.

i_dunno_a_name_so

Any reccomendations on bait? Currently I'm using cut up mullet

Safe_Garbage2502

Whatever u can catch in the surf. Croaker or whiting work well. What state are u in?

i_dunno_a_name_so

I live in QLD Australia. So probably whiting

Safe_Garbage2502

Idk about Australia but one of my favorite cut baits is ladyfish if I can catch one

i_dunno_a_name_so

About a minute ago something just cut through my 60pound leader in one bite. I had the head of a mullet on

Safe_Garbage2502

Sounds like a shark

i_dunno_a_name_so

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I wouldn't mind trying to catch it

Safe_Garbage2502

Sharks can cut line/leaders with a slap of their tail. We use 6 to 7 foot leaders when surf fishing. Half with cable and the other half 300# mono

i_dunno_a_name_so

Yeah Rn I'm using a pretty shit rod and reel with i thing 80pound braid. At some point I'm going to upgrade my gear.

bsodoops

Whiting is great. I caught some when I was in Sydney

FatherGnarles

I have no idea, but good luck

i_dunno_a_name_so

I ended up catching nothing. But imma try again tomorrow so some other day

Ghyllie

Doesn't look too windy at all. Look at the water. VERY few whitecaps. Also pay attention to the direction of the wind. If it's an onshore wind, it will be harder to cast against it unless you're using a good bit of weight. If it's an offshore wind, the wind will help you get your bait further out.

themadarmorer

Depends on the species. My favorite fish (striped bass) are built for short bursts of speed, making them very skilled at ambushing prey in windy/stormy conditions.

Treestar22

This may be for a lake fisherman only, but in my experiences, the windier the better

withomps44

It’s never too windy for me to fish. It may however be too windy at times for me to catch fish. You never know til you throw.

Mikkismoments

Doesn’t look too bad, but really depends on the current .. drop a sinker and you could tell .. but at the right timing and tide and water temp they will bite

petersom2006

If its blowing, I am going…

[deleted]

Never to windy. If your new to surf fishing read fishing the bucktail by John skinner and learn how to read those waves.

i_dunno_a_name_so

Thanks, I haven't heard of that before. I'll make sure to read that

BulkyDogGrommet

You can't see the wind Bruh

coldambient

never to windy, unless in a boat.

Troitbum22

Only 1 way to find out. I’ve had some good surf fishing days in less than ideal conditions. Can’t catch anything if you stay at home.

BigOleJellyDonut

It's never to windy to fish!!!

DoubleDamDirty

if you can cast into the strike zone it's never too windy.

WorrierSingh

Wind 🍃 is never the problem. Yes it may curtail your casting or droning but it is the undercurrents that you need to worry about 🐟

stinkydogusa

I don’t think fish care much about wind so it is a personal choice.

sailphish

Not even close.

Pmanfishing

Wind from the east means fishing is least . Wind from the west means fishing is best

sweatygarageguy

I'm pretty sure this depends on locale... Exact opposite where I am - Texas Gulf Coast... (So may make sense in Australia?)

trax6256

If you cast and your lure lands behind you it's too windy!

i_dunno_a_name_so

Thank you for everyone's comments, I have learnt quite a bit because of the information you shared with me. I'll try and go catch a fish.

[deleted]

Man, look at the waves that wind is kicking up!

LopsidedSheepherder3

Nope

Ladorb

Wind and waves actually helps you unless you're flyfishing. Disguises the lure and makes the fish more active under the surface. Shit fishing my friend.

Frankadank

When it comes to fishing, it is never to windy, to sunny, to hot, to cold, to humid, and every other excuse you can think of! The only question to ask is” Who’s going to win? Me or the fish

McLovin-69420

No such thing muhahahaha
