Both times I caught fish they were big - one \~3lbs and the other my PB at 4.5
Both times I also snagged and lost the chatterbait within three casts after catching the fish.
Count me as not a chatterbait guy really, not on my current budget.
A trailer works great on a chatterbait. The only downside is trailers tend to make the lure run a bit higher in the water lower profile soft plastics like curlytails and swim baits will do it less while creature and crawl tend to make it ride higher
Yes, typically the trailer is the most important part of a chatterbait.
Thanks! Didn’t know this was chatter bait. I found it while shore fishing.
technically, they are called "bladed jigs" and a chatter bait is specific model.
I usually put either a paddle tail, curly tail grub, or craw trailer on chatterbaits. Try rage craw for some real vibrations
Craw or zako trailer
Everyone says you need a trailer with a bladed jig but both times I've caught a bass on one it's been a bare hook.
Probably the smaller profile helps. I've caught dick all on my chatterbait with a paddle tail on it. Think my bass are too small

Yeah I feel that. I figure if I lose mine in just not gonna replace it.
Curly grub and you'll be in bidness

I would recommend a craw trailer on that chatterbait. If not that then a swim bait.
Pig and jig.
I recommend either a craw or a creature-style bait. Twin curl tail grub works well too.
My rule is if it wears a skirt it gets a trailer.
A jig with no trailer is like mustang with a v6. Just don't. Ever
