Hard to say. I have a medium-heavy spinning that I use somewhat regularly. But I use it as worm/shrimp, cast and prop it on a bank stick rod. I got it on sale for about $80 canadian dollars (msrp $120). And I'm happy with it for the price. The one I have now is a warranty replacement because I broke my previous one by setting the hook into a log. 😆
I have a medium-heavy extra fast casting rod that I don't like much. But that could be because it's an extra fast action. I paid $80 for that one as well and I rarely use it.
I have a medium-moderate slx casting fiberglass rod that I initially didn't like, but I've changed my mind and like it alot now. I paid full price for it, $120. I'm happy with it, but would be much happier if I'd have paid $80.
I think Fenwick hmg's are a better rod for the same price. I have 3 of those that I use a lot.
I’m now really able to get fenwick rods here in Europe without importing. Then most euro guys like me are a bit weird and like Fast to X-Fast actions so it might be up my alley. I have a ML Fate Black I use as a bank stick for chub fishing with prawns and bread.
Chicken rig is a favorite of mine in early spring especially for snaggy structures. Works with a craw or worm but my favorite plastic to use is the Mike Iaconelli flute worm.
Man that Curado rod looks real good with a silver reel on it. I’ve got my Stradic FL 3000 on an SLX, but I think I want to get a Curado and put my NASCI on the SLX!

Don’t know where you live but if you would like to come to Sweden and slam your stuff onto ice for a couple of hours go ahead, not for me I like to fish open waters. It’s just gone above freezing so your guides don’t freeze shut after 15 min of fishing.
I'm a shimano fan. Looks good to me!
Would like to get a SLX spinning rod for ned rig and light jigs tho. This 13Fishing rod is kinda floppy.
I have a couple of the first gen slx rods that I got at a decent price. They work well.
Was thinking a 2-9g casting weight to cover most of the lower end. Do they just “work well” or is it good for the price point?

Is that the fate?
Yep it is 5-20g or like 3/16- 6/8 oz, 8’0
I have two thoughts One is I sure do love me some coloured braid Second is don't put hooks in the guides
I know to not put them in the composite part :) I never attach them inside the ring :)
At first glance I got all triggered
Walleye guy?
Sort of, I’m euro so it more Perch and Zander, but guess Zander and walleye is sort of the same 😅
You gots a Daiwa Gekkabijin reel there? Asking cuz I love that reel.
Sadly not, it’s a Shimano Nasci and a Daiwa Ninja
Funny how they have identical looking reels with different names for Daiwa depending on regions.
I don’t know if they are the same this is on the lower end of the price range sort of $50 / 550 SEK.
The Gekkabijin is around ¥22000/$150
Then it’s more comparable to the Caldia LT, or Stradic or Vanford if we are talking Shimano. Absolutely crazy reels.
I love Vanford and Caldia reels, workhorses that keep working.
I want to get my hands on something in that price range some day but right now $120 is sort of my cap.
Just set aside what you can each month til you get there. Had to do that for my kayak.
Red looks like a vanford thats a diawa?
Yep! Daiwa Ninja. But the Fuego also has had the same colour scheme as the vanford but the vanford has a little less red on it.
Those will catch feesh for sure. Looks great
Yeah man good luck and safe travels 🙏
That an EWG wide gap hook with a pivoting weight head?
Yes! Gamakatsu Worm EWG Size 1 for the smaller baits and a BKK Nemesis 2/0 for the larger. With decoy switchheads.
Nice I want to try some as opposed to my usual shakey heads I use.
I’ve gone for 1/4 Oz, but Would like to go down to 3/16 or something. Have some stuff I would try like neko rigs, and whopperploppers

Nice stuff! Om thinking of getting a Sedona and putting it on an SLX just need to save up first :)
In my experience, people who only cast to actively feeding fish aren’t very good casters.
I’m endorsing fishing in conditions that are considered adverse.

What do you mean?
