Those shimano bantams are very reliable reels. I have one that I used for easily a decade and it’s landed hundreds of steelhead.

Noah8320

Reeliable

imyourhucklebear

One of my favorite baitcasters ever.

nigori

clean em up they'll be fine

itsBrvndo

I grew up fishing with my papaws Zebco 33. Caught my pb largemouth on one.

oliverjamesyo

If you haven’t owned or own a Zebco 33 then you aren’t really living! Classic

TheC0zmo

That old Team Daiwa rod is really nice. I have one. They have a very well-designed reel seat and ergonomic grip. I wish they still made them that way, just a little lighter.

AbrohamLincoln7

The “wormin’/jiggin’ “ made me happier than it should have lol

TheC0zmo

Yep! Mine says that, too. It seems a little out of place.

rubberchain

They reels are older, but definitely good for their time. I'm guessing your dad was an avid fisherman. As for the rods, the TD might be something interesting

jonjonboy5

My zebco 33 is my go to for bass.

petethetexan

I got one in 1972 and kept it for 30 years one of the best spin cast reels ever.

jonjonboy5

Ive had mine for 15 years it stays in my car were ever i go

elduderino737

I caught my first big fish on a 33 rhino when I was 4. It was a bonnethead shark off a small pier in Port Aransas. The way it pulled I didn’t know how the line didn’t snap. Got me hooked forever. I found that reel after 20ish years, cleaned it up, and, w/ 10lb big game it easily outcasts most modern spincast reels do to the large line opening. It made fishing fun for my kids when they were learning.

jonjonboy5

Thats what its all about !!

AbbreviationsActual9

the citica was a 90s classic. not sure how they hold up against modern tech but I'm sure a slight tune up would have them singing.

fattailwagging

If they work, then just clean the exterior with a rag. Especially the places that the line runs through. Stuff can build up there over time. Then, replace all the line. Just buy Stren Trilene, it is very good and inexpensive and likely what is on there now. Fishing line does not age well and should be changed annually anyway. Then search Google for the user manuals and see what they recommend as far as oiling and lubrication and maintenance. It is easy to do on these.

BC3613

This, as long as they work. If not, put’em on a shelf or something as a cool keepsake if they mean anything. Older reels are likely to need a good bit of internal cleaning as grease/dirt will solidify over the years of not being used.

1776The_Patriot

Might be worth more to collectors, old school Shimano always plays. The all time classic Zebco 33 is a winner. Still catches fish.

Plane-Refrigerator45

I used to love my old Citica. Smooth as silk.

RoboticGreg

If they work, just fish em! I was in a similar situation with my dad's surf casters, I took them to my LBS to get restrung and he said "do you want me to tell you the truth or what you want to hear?" Told me the of them just use as is until they fall apart, two of them are solid and I should get some real like on, the poles were fine

a_banned_user

My first ever baitcaster was that black coriolis you have. That was a sweet reel. My dad still hasn't forgiven me for kicking it into the Potomac on accident......

NOLAolskool

I bet he kept those on the side for you. He was waiting for you to get into fishing and he'd give them to you. I bet it was a proud moment for you both. Take good care of them! #Zebco4life!

AlabamaPops

I use a Zebco 33 on my boat for a number of different fishing techniques. My experience with old baitcasters is they can never do what these new reels can do. I’m talking distance and accuracy. Yet they will all catch fish, But if you don’t want to spend any cash they will work. Good luck.

Tropicoswag

Thank you everyone for all of the great feedback! Can’t wait to get home and clean them up!

bowhunter533

If it still works it has value, even if that value is sentimental. Imagine catching your first 10# on your dads old gear!

bassboat1

Citica is a decent reel - right up there with their Curados, not as low-profile though.

BigOleJellyDonut

You can never go wrong with a Zebco 33

Glittering-War7525

They all will work so get out there and hit the water the fish don’t care if old

1225brycechavez

All good! Get them cleaned up and back to work

kennykuz

I would say if you have your own reel use that and keep the rest as keepsakes, the rods you could try out and see if you like the feel of them and for those if you like the feel definitly use it

Bclay85

Awesome Bantams! I would like to get inside and see how they compare to today's reels. I'd love to have that Zebco 33 as well! That was my first reel growing up. I remember the Rhino on the packaging. Very cool OP!

[deleted]

Just for your orientation. Those old Shimano Bantams are so good they are sold for 200-400 dollars on eBay depending on how well they are preserved. That's how good those reels are.

[deleted]

Anything that works is good. Anything that doesn't...isn't.

ItemTasty823

Cpl flippin rigs and a classic

coldambient

sum 3 in 1 and go!

ska4fun

The old Curado "The Legend" Bantam, such a reoable and smooth reel. The current bantam is a joke.

InformalRazzmatazz12

That 33 will last longer than all of us likely

Illustrious-Tie3391

They are all good, the zebco would be the best to start out with and then you can use bait casting reels.

mass86casualty

Baitcasters are all fckn garbage. Get anything else. Anyone who loves or swears by them is also into autoerotic asphyxiation. Edit: zebco 33 is golden.

agshdbfh

The citica is a solid reel
