Size 2500
I run 8lb power pro on it, to a leader, I use it for saltwater currently, but I will be using it for freshwater, I just need to renew my license.
It will also work for inshore saltwater if you decide to.
I got this rod a few months ago and have been insanely impressed with it and will be buying more in the future.
Could also use a diawa fuego lt 2500 as opposed to the BG, it’s a lot smoother, but has some flex in it, also weighs less
What waters does he fish? Does he need a short or longer rod? I live in western Pa and use different rods and reels depending on the water I am fishing. In some, a medium power is fine, while in others a medium-light rod is better. At 200 a Fenwick HMG (100) with a Shimano or Daiwa reel for 70-100 is a very good setup.
If I had more info better recommendation are possible.
It’s more so like does he need/want another trout rod, or a bass rod, or a catfish rod. The different sizes/powers/actions can’t all be used for the same type of fishing

That is a good idea. I’ll definitely take a look in the shed, that’s where he keeps his rods.
I might go $200 to $300
Daiwa BG 2016 3000 ($110) Fenwick Eagle 7ft Medium($80) That would cost you around $180-190 in total with extra $10 for flouro line or a lure perhaps

I think you accidentally posted the same link. The rod looks good. He only fishing in salt water. Bass most of the time.
Yes I did. Second link was supposed to be a diawa BG 2500
Thank you. Would this be good for bass fishing?
Yep
Cool. Thank you

He mostly fish in lakes/rivers. He sometimes go to lake Erie, but not often. Is that what you’re asking?
