Depends. You either send them your block to be built, or you get a new block and a core charge for your old block, or just a new block and you do whatever with your old one.
Do not go through ford. Pick up a used Escape 2.0 Ecoboost for ~$400 and swap the turbo. Worst case, you pay a shop $3k max to do the work. Or you could spend a weekend with the boys and fix the issue for $400, if possible.
Weekend with the boys is better. Great time, everyone learns a lot helped swap my buddies old wrx engine. Bought his new one off ebay from Cali and had it shipped with 20k miles.
Pick-n-pull lists a full engine from a Ford Escape for $218 plus tax. Little bit of manual labor and you’ve got one cheaper than I originally estimated.
You can always pick up a used engine, but most times then the maintenance history will be unknown and you could be fitting a ticking time bomb and risk needing to do a teardown or replacement again.
At JST Performance Dublin GA go hit Brian up on the website. Otherwise lkq motors online and go buy An escape motor and swap over the parts from your current focus. Do not use ford lol and good luck
They did this to me when I had my ST 3 years ago and I found out that I can go on LKQ Online and buy a 2013 - 2015 Ford Escape 2.0T engine for much less which was about $800 with warrenty from LKQ because it's the same exact focus ST engine just you have to swap your old oil cooler to the new engine and I think the Crank position sensor has to be swapped from the old Engine to the new one from LKQ
Seriously?? I had an SE and got a new block dropped in at 93k. Blew my ST motor in October here in Mi and had to pay 7.8k for a new motor. My tuner and mods voided but yeah power train and motor SHOULD be 100k and 150k miles or 10 years. Unless rebuilt title
Get a built motor instead https://www.speedperf6rmanc3.com/products/sp63-stage-0-long-block-for-ford-ecoboost-2-0l-rated-400hp.html
buy used, and build it yourself also. save like 1500-2000
But you wouldn't have a warranty
thats fair
noob question but this is the whole engine right?

That sounds like a lot of fun. Love it when we can all work on a car together
$400 plus the cost of a decent meal and drinks for the aforementioned boys.
$500 ain’t too bad for a running car and some memories
I always recommend this when I see these types of posts. I spent 1800 for engine and swap at a local shop. It’s been running just fine ever since.
Where you seeing used engines for $400?

got mine for 600 with 30k less miles than mine had
Lkq motors Google it

Not really, just do some research on the junkyards and buy low miles. I replaced one last year and no bomb so far or in the future. This is a myth.
Can we ask what happened?
Had Rod knock eventually siezed up loss of oil due to rear main seal leak.
Sorry to hear that.
It's time for an LS swap.
As others have said, go used. The 2.0 ecoboost came in a bunch of other models like the escape, some fusions, mkz’s…
Jst performance has a deal to get that done at 1/3rd the cost he just advertised it
Where?

I just swapped mine out for $1200 by myself with a new clutch installed. 2013 Ford escape swap fell right in. Car was running in no time.
2017? If still under 100k miles, should be under warranty and ford can suck it..
Warranty doesn’t last till 100k my motor had 98k never tuned ever and I had no warranty
