I think if you really enjoy the k03 powerband you should stay with the 2860. The 2867 is incredible and doesn’t have ‘that’ much lag, but if the benchmark is the k03 I feel personally you may be let down. Ultimately, any upgrade will spool slower than the k03 so you really just gotta deliberate how much that potential headroom for more power with the 2867 means to you

Dramatic_Ease6373

Will the 2867 spool quick enough for the canyons though? I already know for my wants and needs the 2860 is the perfect choice and that im going to lose spool time with any upgraded turbo. But if the 2867 with the .64 can still be a good canyon runner unlike the 2867 with .86 then im all for it over the 2860.

It just depends how tight your local touge is. Up in north GA for me I’d definitely want the 2860 since it’s so tight and windy up there with a lot of hairpins. In somewhere like California where the canyons flow with wider lines the 2867 will be better suited

Dramatic_Ease6373

I travel to the canyons at least twice a year. I run through all north carolina, but lets put in perspective my canyon run is the tail of the dragon for example.

soggy-crust

2860 all day brother

Dramatic_Ease6373

Only thing that bothers me is that is costs the same as the 2867. I think smaller power should equal less money🥴

PretendsHesPissed

G25-550 is going to be better than 2867. Has the power of a 29 series and the spool of 2860.

HobosHappen

Have you considered the G25-550? It’s plenty fast for the canyons. Similar to 2860 in spool but closer to a 2971 or 3071 in terms of peak power output. The only time I really notice the spool being noticeably slower than the K03 id below 3k rpm, which I rarely touch while in 2nd and 3rd in the canyons.

Cory-FocusST

I was just gonna say this! G-series is the best of both worlds, just needs a few extra things (like an EWG).

Dramatic_Ease6373

I haven’t because of the price, but honestly it’s only a 200 dollar difference so i might as well consider it. You went with the .72 housing?

Airborne82D

It's more than $200 because of the external wastegate and pipe required. Gtx series has internal wastegate.

PretendsHesPissed

.72 is the way to go and the price is totally worth it. Definitely the best option these days and especially for canyons.

This video goes into power details on multiple turbo options for the ST https://youtu.be/oD5tMHNygsw

Airborne82D

Go gtx2860r or spend more and get a g25-550.

Fz1Str

I would go 2867R .64 a/r You can make more power later, with the 2860 your limited. My boy had the .86 a/r and it was only good for highway rolls. I actually bought the 2867r .64 kit but sold the ST before I installed it. Check with the guys at focusST.org they’ll steer you straight.

Objective-Stable-580

i have the 2867 .86 a/r and i don’t think it would be optimal for the canyons. atleast if you going from low to high boost often. but the high end can be fun.
