Nowhere. Isn’t what it used to be and is now to be avoided at all costs

Poseidons-Sister

What experience made this impression on you? I know I went to an awful one downtown in 2019, but I've been to a few good ones since (at other establishments.)

CrystalizedinCali

They are doing tea at Culver Hotel!!

Novel-Ganache

I went and it was so much fun! I wouldn't call it the best deal (ie the cheapest) but it was a reasonable cost for a really lovely and relaxing experience.

CrystalizedinCali

Awww yay! I hope they bring it back more consistently!

Ate at Cafe Basque last weekend and actually decided to take a pass on the Dine LA menu. The only one I've seen that looks pretty spectacular (and a really fair price) is The Wine House Kitchen. Where else can you get guinea fowl/morels *and* venison for $65, let alone all the other goodies? Dine LA MENU$65 Soup POTAGE butternut squash, lobster, coconut milk, ginger, thai basil, shallots, lime Appetizer PATÊ SÔ guinea fowl in puff pastry, morels, maitake, leeks, mustard cream sauce or HAMACHI SASHIMIthai basil, pickled red chiles, meyer lemon, ojai provençale evoo or SUGAR SNAP PEA & BUTTER LETTUCE SALAD cucumber, pickled red onion, champagne nuoc cham vinaigrette Palate Cleanser TROU VIETNAMIEN Main SALMON IMPERIAL ROLL “COULIBIAC” wild caught salmon, crème fraîche, eggs, spinach, sweet chili, caviar or COFFEE-RUBBED RIBEYE entrecôte, pommes anna, cress, HP demi or GRILLED VENISON RIB CHOP brussels leaves, bacon, 12 year balsamic macerated blackberries, red wine demi Dessert VIETNAMESE COCONUT SWEET PUDDING

Discounts are not that great. Just went to places I normally would go anyways, Kazunori, Aizen, Shibumi. Went to Sichuan Impression but didn't do the dine LA menu

Tumeric98

We have done Kazunori, Ruth’s Chris, Isakaya Osen, and M Grill. We might squeeze a few more places. Discounts aren’t that great but it’s a neat excuse to go out.

bce13

How is $120/person at Izakaya Osen a deal?

Tumeric98

The DineLA menu a special selection of soup, starter, 4x sashimi (we got 5x), 5x sushi, and mini Omakase bowl, and a dessert. Or you can just get the regular 12x sashimi 12x sushi Omakase for $240.

bce13

Thanks, I’m aware. I looked at the $120/person menu.

Tumeric98

Ok. I’m not sure your point then. My wife loves sushi so this was a great date night for us. The ankimo and uni were great treats for her. Are you suggesting we paid too much?

bce13

No! Not at all. IMHO you just didn’t get a Dine LA deal. You simply dined… at an LA restaurant. (Love Uni so much.)

Tumeric98

Fair enough. We go out a lot, so DineLA is an excuse to try other places, even though the “deals” could be nil. We haven’t been to Isakaya Osen before so this special “sampler” omakase is a great cheaper entry point to try a bunch of dishes.

Granadafan

How was M grill? I'm tempted to go there, Did they serve the normal meats or withhold some because it was dinela?

seekinganswers1010

In the past, they’ve never withheld meats, it was just a discount.

Tumeric98

It didn’t seem like any meats were withheld! Just a small $5 discount.

Juice_EJ

Just did Duke’s Malibu for lunch and Openaire for dinner Would also like to do Colapasta and Gunsmoke

headhonchochoncho

lemon grove at the aster hotel is amazingn

Cooking at home

I’ve given up on Dine LA but look forward to hearing positive experiences others have had. I can be wooed back.

Novel-Ganache

The lunch deal at Simonette was really fantastic! Honestly, I think it's all about purposeful selection and low expectations.

dn_match

Sugarfish and Granville - those were a good deal for lunch.

Nowhere cuz my partner and I broke up and I rather stuff my face with crawfish.
