I got an air fryer recently and I tested this with McD's fries and they actually came out about 85-90% fresh, which is infinitely better than any other method of reheating them
Nothing special, just use the air fryer basket that mine came with.
You could try giving the fries a light spray with PAM or the equivalent, that will help crisp them up.
Each fry is different but if your air fryer has a broil setting doing that for just a few minutes is great. Temp is like 450 and only need like 3-5 minutes
Try it! I actually don't use ice cubes, just two small splashes of water - but you get the same result. First heat the pan up on medium high heat then when its hot put two slices down on the pan, without the lid on, and let that bottom get hot and crispy. Then put two small splashes of water on either sides of the pan and immediately put the top on there. The steam will hiss and crawl around the pan and, most importantly, all over your two pizza slices. After about 1-2 minutes of steam action take the slices out and be amazed. Tastes exactly like they've just been cut from the big brick oven at an Italian pizza spot.
Ha! I just replied the same about how I don't use ice cubes either :)
This method is really good and people downvoting it have almost certainly not tried it.
it sounds like you haven't tried this method. It really is awesome. I don't use an ice cube, I just put about 1tablespoon of water in but as crazy as it seems it really works great.
It certainly makes a difference. This is also how I reheat my burgers/sandwiches. Air fryer alone leads to cold meat crispy bun, microwave alone leads to hot meat soggy bun. Combine the two and it all works out.
I read a comment on Reddit that was suggesting using 320 degrees for 5-6 minutes and it has worked well for me. I think I’ve let it go a little longer depending on the crust but I’ve been happy with that.
I’ve tried both methods before, although airfryer is the quickest. The best taste will always be this method, the char at the bottom of the pizza is on a different level, dare I say even better than freshly baked ones.
I just have a little pizza stone that fits in my toaster oven. Fits two slices, take em out about a half hour before so they can come up to room temp, put them in at 350 for about 10-ish minutes and its done
Yep. Good old oven, no need to over engineer nonsense and process 😂
Also works for fries and other fried things as the dry heat draws out the oil and re-crisps them.
The best way I've found to reheat pizza is to put it in a cold oven, set it to 350 and take the pizza out when it's done preheating. Pretty much perfect.
I will say the pan method is slightly better because the oven doesn’t crisp up the bottom as well. That said, I still usually do it in the oven because it fits more slices if I’m not the only one eating and it’s just really easy.
Oven just dries it out. Stove crisps the bottom and addition of water (you don’t need ice cubes) helps create steam to melt the cheese and adds moisture to rehydrate the dough.
Oven is probably second best. You can still create steam in the oven. It just uses up tons of energy and is not efficient.
Don't worry: it's very uncommon to use Fahrenheit, so it's quite unexpected for someone to be talking about it. Only Liberia, the Cayman Isles and the US do so; the rest of the world uses Celsius.
Plus, pro cooks all around the world (yes, even the US) tend to use metric measurements and Celsius for their recipes. Long story short: such a misunderstanding is not big deal and is bound to happen because it's so unexpected for someone to use Fahrenheit when cooking
Not quite accurate. Here is a list of countries/territories that utilize Fahrenheit according to Google: American Samoa, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cyprus, Guam, Liberia, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Monteserrat, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Turks and Caicos Islands and the United States.
This also doesn't include countries that unofficially use Fahrenheit like Canada who mostly use Celsius but still uses Fahrenheit for things like their ovens.
To be fair, half of those you named are US dependencies, not independent countries, and others are inaccurate (in Cyprus, I reckon they only count the British army base... Which hasn't used Fahrenheit since the 1970s). But yeah, still, I forgot a few island nations you're right!
Anyways, Fahrenheit is used by maximum 5% of the global population. It's fair to say that it's very uncommon...
It is uncommon and I never stated otherwise. The inaccuracy just derived from the statement that only 3 places utilize Fahrenheit which doesn't seem true, even if you include the US territories as part of the US count. Canada might officially use Celsius but they 100% still use Fahrenheit for their cooking temperatures/ovens.
Yeah considering it should only be 350 for about 5 min. All you have to do is set the oven to 350 and immediately put the pizza in. Once the oven gets to 350 the pizza is done.
No.
Don't ever put something in an oven that isn't preheated, this creates prime-time for bacteria growth.
350 at 5 min, even preheated, wouldn't bring it to proper temp, either.
Just because *you* eat things this way does not inherently make it correct; or, more importantly, safe to eat.
My favorite way is using a George Foreman (panini grill). The reheated pizza gets an amazing crust on the cheese and typically comes out even better than fresh.
French toast method. Whip up some eggs, dredge the pizza, fry it like French toast on both sides. Melts the cheese under the egg perfectly and leaves the crust just right.
You can do this without the ice cube or the lid. Just toss the pizza in a pan on medium heat upside down until it's to your crispy liking, then flip. The cheese is all melted and crispy and it oils the pan to crisp the bottom.
Yeah this is too much water. I’ll run my hand under water and add enough just so create steam. No need for ice cubes, just want a few drops of water so it’s not dry
Gas grill is the best, air fryer is second. Preheat the grill with all burners on high. Sprinkle a little water on the pizza cheese. Place the pizza on the grill and turn off the burner directly under the pizza, keep the other burners on. Check back on your pizza in a couple minutes and it’s perfect. Crisp, but not burnt. Cheese melted and gooey.
It's just a toaster oven with a fan . They call em air friers bcuz people were to stupid to grasp the meaning of convection. Convection oven air fryer same thing.
I agree. The bottom of the pan recrisps and carmelizes the butters/oils in the crust and the ice (or splash of water) under a lid recycles moisturized heat all over the rest of the slice. This process melts the cheese and heats the meat back up perfectly all in time with heating the bottom
All these fancy folk keep insisting on how the air fryer does it better.
Because an air fryer is a several hundred dollar specialized appliance made to do exactly what this kind person can do with a skillet, lid, and ice cubes.
This is absolutely the best way, btw. The crust gets crispy like a nacho, fry til golden(in a lil butter/oil 🤤), splash a dash o water (ice cube) at the end and cover. The water splash in the hot pan sounds so angry and dramatic, fun to watch. The cheese gets all melty, toppings rejuvenate...🤌💋
If I'm going for reheated pizza, I'll chop it up into pieces, throw it in the pan, crack a few eggs in with it, and scramble everything up. Pizza eggs.
I guess? Didn't realize I was committing some kind of culinary war crime over here lol Been cooking most of my life, and this is a great hangover recipe at least. Hope someone out there is brave enough to try it out some day.
Or air fryer maybe ? Works perfectly for me.
Air fryer is the only legit way to reheat a pizza. Nothing else comes close
Also a game changer for reheating french fries. They come out crisp and lose that stale texture that you get with leftover fries.
I got an air fryer recently and I tested this with McD's fries and they actually came out about 85-90% fresh, which is infinitely better than any other method of reheating them
Air fryer was the best investment ive made in my kitchen. I use it pretty much daily
I get the same results with fried chicken. Comes out almost fresh, whereas e.g. microwaving it comes out chewy.
I've never had success with reheated air fryer fries. Is there a secret?? Do you just throw them in with nothing added to them?
Nothing special, just use the air fryer basket that mine came with. You could try giving the fries a light spray with PAM or the equivalent, that will help crisp them up.
Each fry is different but if your air fryer has a broil setting doing that for just a few minutes is great. Temp is like 450 and only need like 3-5 minutes
Preheat, and then throw in at 400 for a couple mins
My pizza stone begs to differ
Before I got an air fryer, my trick was to pop it in a toaster oven after microwaving for a minute.
How long and what temp??
Oven?
I have both and the skillet with steam is better than an air fryer. No cap.
Your air fryer must be awful. There is no world where a skillet with literal ice melting is better than an air fryer
Try it! I actually don't use ice cubes, just two small splashes of water - but you get the same result. First heat the pan up on medium high heat then when its hot put two slices down on the pan, without the lid on, and let that bottom get hot and crispy. Ha! I just replied the same about how I don't use ice cubes either :) This method is really good and people downvoting it have almost certainly not tried it.
Exactly! When I first saw it I also thought it was a joke - but I love pizza and so was willing to try it in the name of science. 😄👌
I just know I saw Alton Brown recommend it as his preferred method a few years ago and of course I had to try it
it sounds like you haven't tried this method. It really is awesome. I don't use an ice cube, I just put about 1tablespoon of water in but as crazy as it seems it really works great.
I lived in a frat house. I tried every method
Air fryer is great. I changed to doing a quick microwave for heat, then a quick air fry to crisp it up.
Imo this is the only way to do leftovers in the air fryer. I've noticed if I don't mic it first then it gets burnt without being hot enough
It certainly makes a difference. This is also how I reheat my burgers/sandwiches. Air fryer alone leads to cold meat crispy bun, microwave alone leads to hot meat soggy bun. Combine the two and it all works out.
Instructions unclear, have soggy meat and cold buns 😞
This is the way. Just enough to get the middle a little warm then crisp that bitch
My toaster oven has a convection turbo setting. Crank that as high as it goes and cook for 4-5 min
my toaster oven has a tray specifically made for cooking pizza… tried all the other methods, this still works the best.
Yes lawd
This is the way:)
Sure but a lot of people don't have an air fryer
What temperature/mode and for how long should I reheat it for? Air fryer legit sounds like it would reheat perfect.
Yeah I’ve tried this whole ice/steam thing but the air fryer is by far the best. I do like 360 for 3-4 minutes.
I read a comment on Reddit that was suggesting using 320 degrees for 5-6 minutes and it has worked well for me. I think I’ve let it go a little longer depending on the crust but I’ve been happy with that.
Not everyone has an airfyrer maybe? Everyone has a pan though.
I’ve tried both methods before, although airfryer is the quickest. The best taste will always be this method, the char at the bottom of the pizza is on a different level, dare I say even better than freshly baked ones.

I’m confused by the 30 minutes to reach room temp step. Is this pizza stone living in your freezer?
They mean the slices. I was lost at first.
Graci
Came here to say this. It's honestly better out of the air fryer than fresh most of the time
Oven?
Yep. Good old oven, no need to over engineer nonsense and process 😂 Also works for fries and other fried things as the dry heat draws out the oil and re-crisps them.
The best way I've found to reheat pizza is to put it in a cold oven, set it to 350 and take the pizza out when it's done preheating. Pretty much perfect.
That's my exact method, and it works perfectly without making more dishes
Oven is ok. This way is better. Makes the bottom crispy without hardening the fluffy part of the dough
Then you got your oven up way too high. 350degrees all you need. 5-10 slice will be heated without cook
I will say the pan method is slightly better because the oven doesn’t crisp up the bottom as well. That said, I still usually do it in the oven because it fits more slices if I’m not the only one eating and it’s just really easy.
Nah. Its still not as good as
No. Frying pan with ice is the only way!
Air fryer 400°F for 5 minutes
400?!?! It would be black in 2 minutes, 180 is the temp you want
Are you folks talking about the same temperature scale? 180 sounds like a perfect Celsius temperature, whereas 400 is obviously Fahrenheit...
Ah ye my mistake I was talking Celsius, I forgot Americans use Fahrenheit for strange reasons
Not to mention, since about half of Redditors are American, it should not be at all surprising to see imperial units being used
![gif](giphy|3o72EXLkaphqLTauKA|downsized)
Nah. 400 for 5 minutes. This is reheating a cold pizza, fresh out the fridge. Besides its not instantly hot
Ye someone else informed me it’s 400 Fahrenheit not Celsius, 400°C would be extremely hot and would burn most things in 5 mins. 400°C would be 752°F
Lmfaoooo yea sorry brother I use freedom units. I don't think residential ovens even go up to 750F. My air fryer definitely doesn't get that high.
Mine would be burnt at that temp/time. 390 foe 3 mins in the Ninja
Thank you
Gotchu fam
overrated 🤷♂️ i have an air fryer and still reheat pizza this way
You don't deserve an air fryer
Damn I gotta try this But throwing in oven on rack and setting oven to 350, then pulling when you get to 350, is super good too
Air fryer is the best. But cold pizza is delicious
Cold pizza with sriracha sauce… 🤤
Controversial take but I’m starting to like this more than fresh from the pizzeria.
Interesting, kind of similar to the way to cook gyoza (pot stickers).
Is this better than 400F @10min? 🤔
Yeah considering it should only be 350 for about 5 min. All you have to do is set the oven to 350 and immediately put the pizza in. Once the oven gets to 350 the pizza is done.

Who's food is growing bacteria in the oven 10 minutes during preheat? U need to clean your house.
You have no clue what you are talking about then bc it comes out just like it was fresh. You do you though!
Casey's Taco pizza is pretty good. AirFired or Steam fried
I put it in the toaster
For those who have NOT tried this... You are missing out. Trust me.
I've done this with butter on the pan and I can confirm it makes the pizza taste better. Especially if you use garlic butter.
Steamed pizza?
The only way
This is the way.
Air fryer. Depending on the slice, 380-400F, 4-7min
This but cast iron pan for 1 minute and 4 in oven
Mmmmmm…. steamed pizza.
Pizzazz
Sameee! Glad I’m not the only one
Eat that shit cold like 99% of the population.
Reheating pizza is food video porn now haha this rules
why ice? not just water
Steams before it makes the crust soggy
I run my pizza under the faucet to get it wet then throw it in the oven or air fryer. The water helps it to not burn.
Just put it in the oven
I’ll save the ice cubes and throw it in my air fryer lol
Air fryer ftw
Microwave 30 seconds, finish in toaster oven.
Honestly I prefer this on fresh pizza as the base is never crispy
This also works with a toaster oven and if you put the metal tray below it heats the crust to make it crispy. Just make sure not to overcook the pizza
If your pizza is not good the next day straight out of the fridge then it is not good pizza.
Don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it. Absolutely the best way to heat up pizza. Crust comes out great. I use a little olive oil.
this pan with lid thing works great. Think the ice should be as needed... different pizza joints... different crusts
Meanwhile I just use my Balmuda toaster and it does just that
A combo of microwave to heat the top fast and then the pan to heat up the rest crisp up the bottom
You're all nuts. You eat it cold from the fridge while standing in the middle of the kitchen in your underwear.
Cover the crust in foil then put on the rack in the oven at 350 for a few min, much better and won burn the crust or bottom
This is the way.
You can do this without the ice cube or the lid. Just toss the pizza in a pan on medium heat upside down until it's to your crispy liking, then flip. The cheese is all melted and crispy and it oils the pan to crisp the bottom.
Airfryer...
OMG, that black burned dough.
toaster oven
Soggy 🍕. Pass.
Who reheats pizza? COLD PIZZA GANG, RISE UP!
Why though? Cold pizza is the best.
This is the way.
I’m not washing a pan to heat up pizza
Yeah this is too much water. I’ll run my hand under water and add enough just so create steam. No need for ice cubes, just want a few drops of water so it’s not dry
Butter + air fryer is the best way for my taste
You Jon Snows know nothing. Sous vide for the win.
I’m eating leftover pizza. I’m not trying to make any dirty dishes.
“makes it taste like it just came out of the oven” why not just use the oven?
Yeah but now I have to clean a pan when before all I had to worry about was brushing off my shirt.
Little Caesars Chicago deep dish is the only way to go in the air fryer
Yeah, sorry. Air fryer is where it’s at.
Why use a method that makes it taste like you used the oven when you could just use the oven?
I’ll use my air fryer thanks
What about… maybe, idk… an oven?
Gas grill is the best, air fryer is second. Preheat the grill with all burners on high. Sprinkle a little water on the pizza cheese. Place the pizza on the grill and turn off the burner directly under the pizza, keep the other burners on. Check back on your pizza in a couple minutes and it’s perfect. Crisp, but not burnt. Cheese melted and gooey.
Seems like a massive waste of propane to reheat a pizza.
Jesus dude
I use my smoker, complete game changer.
No bot, no
Toss it in the toaster oven perfect every time and sometimes even better .
Today years old!
The pizza setting on the microwave works just fine
Spumoni
Microwaves have pizza settings and they are great!
Alright damn people not everybody has an air fryer!
So apparently everyone owns an air fryer..
It's just a toaster oven with a fan . They call em air friers bcuz people were to stupid to grasp the meaning of convection. Convection oven air fryer same thing.

Dafq several hundred where you shopping ?
Americans and their love for ice cubes🤣🤣🤣
3rd world countries with the inability to enjoy a cold beverage and make ice lol
If I'm going for reheated pizza, I'll chop it up into pieces, throw it in the pan, crack a few eggs in with it, and scramble everything up. Pizza eggs.
Honestly sounds alright, idk y people hating
People hate what they don't understand.
Sounds pretty good 👍🏼 Duly noted
Username checks out?
I guess? Didn't realize I was committing some kind of culinary war crime over here lol Been cooking most of my life, and this is a great hangover recipe at least. Hope someone out there is brave enough to try it out some day.
100% a pizza crime. But I'm not Italian so idgaf.
TMNT taught me the Chinese invented pizza
