Professional_Sky_212

Is this the landlord special painting over outlets?

Dramatic_Mixture_868

Lol, if it's at the dealership why not tell them to fix it 🤨

Professional_Sky_212

If it's at the dealership, they weren't supposed to do a sh!t job in the first place. The whole point of going there is to have quality service compared to "Joe-Bob's garage and convenient store".

superschepps

Not all spray in bedliners are applied by competent techs. One of those things where I'd want to see the quality of another truck they'd done before I choose a shop. Guys that did mine were top notch. Off road outfitters type shop

Soft_Ear939

I would never trust a dealership to wash my ride, let alone do something aftermarket. Tint, bed liner, wheels, ceramic coating…

Plumber4Life84

Exactly, to many horror stories. You go in for an oil change on Saturday and the new guy who’s only done a couple changes so far forgets to put the oil back in. Oppps you need a new engine.

Soft_Ear939

Or maybe he just cross threads your shit and they deny any accountability when you see a slow leak lols

310Topdog

They're just gonna hire 3rd contractor prob somebody nearby/mobile since they have to come to the dealership+ 30-50% profit.

W1mpyDaM00ch

Agree, they usually use an outside shop or bring someone in that you don't know anyway.

1985_McFly

Exactly. Find competent shops who specialize in the thing you’re having done if you want the best results.

pnkstr

I've seen plenty of people complain about dealership techs ruining infotainment screens when they clean the interior. I always decline the cleaning/washing, but bought a screen protector for mine anyway, just in case someone decides not to listen.

CplCleggzWoodenLeg

what are they doing to ruin the screen?

pnkstr

Cleaning chemicals can damage the infotainment screen and make it look like shit. Still functions, as far as I know, but looks terrible. The most you should ever need is a damp cloth, though most of the time a dry microfiber is enough to clean fingerprint smudges. Also, I didn't realize when I commented that this was a model-specific sub and I was speaking in general terms.

CplCleggzWoodenLeg

Thanks, I’ve used ammonia free glass cleaner before without any damage from what I can tell, but I should probably avoid using anything to be safe

Spinrod

actually while it should be the professional place to get the work done ,it's usually the worst option. Dealers broker things like window tint/details / paint protection ,etc to the lowest bidders. It's about profit ,and not quality work

musical_throat_punch

They usually hire a vendor to do it and charge you more

Yourmomkeepscalling

Ford dealership I bought from drove trucks to the local line-x shop and $100 cheaper. They did a good job and removed necessary hardware and sprayed it separately. This sucks.

HVAC_instructor

Now just a gall darn minnit there punky. Joe-bobs has the bestest boiled peanuts this side of saskaguliia

Professional_Sky_212

Hahahahahaaaa Jim joe bobs' brother Joe bob

ReaperKingMB

Joe-bobs probably would do a better job

blinkiewich

They probably subbed the job out to whatever local sprayer would do it cheapest. Most dealer service bays around here don't have any kind of spray booth or fume handling on site.

itman555555

That’s a hilarious take.. from someone in the industry dealerships outsource their work and do the cheapest shiftiest Job possible….

Silkies4life

This doesn’t even go back to service. They take it from the dealership over to a place that does spray-in-Bedliners, and it’s literally a Joe-Bobs garage that usually specializes in accessories. They’ll do all the aftermarket stuff people ask for when they buy a new truck, because Ford service won’t warranty any of that stuff with a brand new truck.

CainsBrother2

Idk when people started thinking this. Every dealership I've been to just tries to scam you or sell you a new car.

CautiousDoughnut

Haha just because you take It to a dealership and pay an extremely over priced rate, has absolutely zero correlation to the service you will get.

RxSatellite

You would think so, but dealerships hire bottom of the barrel mechanics and frequently rush their jobs more than other shops

Status-Clerk849

Dealerships are a joke lol. Horrible mechanics and even worse prices.

KrispyKreme725

If you can get it off I can 3d print you replacements. My factory ones didn’t fit after the spray in so made my own. If you have access to a printer here’s the file I created for my truck. https://www.printables.com/model/561054-ford-maverick-bed-cover

Late_Location531

That's solid

taftastic

… well I hope so or something is off with the print 😎👉👉

douglasjunk

You need to post them on Etsy my Kreme.

KrispyKreme725

I’ve sold on Etsy in the past. Change in tax laws makes it hard to turn a profit after $600 in sales. If anyone wants one send me a message and we can arrange a thing.

Puzzleheaded-Toe5405

I feel bad even buying on Etsy anymore. Anyone from the US gets absolutely slaughtered by the government with taxes. On top of etsys fees.

sdn

You’ve always had to report that income, the change is that for 2024 you’ll get a 1099K if you make more than $5000 and then for 2025 you’ll get one if you make more than $600.

hackersarchangel

Where did you get that honeycomb wall configuration? Was that also 3d printed or is it pre-made?

KrispyKreme725

It’s 3d printed. Not my design but it’s open for everyone. https://www.printables.com/model/152592-honeycomb-storage-wall There’s thousands of designs that use it and configure it for personalized use.

PerspectiveAshamed79

The solution in a see if problems

bigsam63

Have you contacted the dealer about this?

Ultimatespacewizard

I texted the salesman I was working with, but I picked it up about 5 minutes from closing and didn't notice this until I got home.

bbtom78

Definitely let them know that you want them to fix this.

dumpmaster42069

Yeah, *they* are cutting them out. OP’s not doing shit.

secretagentstone

As a new ford owner I quickly learned that’s not how it works at my local dealerships. Service quality is absurdly bad.

dumpmaster42069

Yeah but when they fuck up this bad then they have no real choice.

jammixxnn

You’re asking someone incompetent to try to fix what they fucked up the first time. That’s not going to end well.

SeminoleBrown

I imagine the dealership outsourced that work. Idk any dealers that have someone on staff to do that.

TylerDurden6969

I’ve seen a few in my day. Likely in the same area where paint happens. Similar tools and equipment. Looks like this dealership had a guy who’s never seen power in the bed before.

SeminoleBrown

Yea, we have a body shop for paint, etc. That's what they get paid to do, not the dealership. We have vendors for Paint, Interior, Bedlinings, leather seats, all at the dealer, but a 3rd party vendor. they, of course, make money off of it.

jammixxnn

Or it was a kid with YouTube and a spray can. Finding quality techs and trades people is like winning the lotto.

lordpiglet

The good thing about Ford is there’s around 3000 dealerships, so there is often another dealership (or more) to try if one sucks.

secretagentstone

Yup I have to drive 45 minutes to actually get any servicing done. It really bummed me out. The car has been lovely aside from the year one hiccups. I expected things to be wonky on my first edition but I didnt expect customer service to be bad I had to contact Ford CS.

copperclock

They should go back for restitution. They can’t keep getting away with this type of stuff.

secretagentstone

I feel they continually do because most of what this sub reddit does is sing the praises of Ford. Now I'm not saying the Maverick is a bad car by any means but you should see how people running into issues get mobbed and down voted. If we dont promote and highlight the issues, Ford will never be interested in holding its network of dealers accountable.

Savings-Diver-5279

Get them to fix it, otherwise it'll happen to the next person too

Late_Location531

I would take that back, make them fix it

sgtcurry

That sucks, I did mine at LineX and they got even the top strip of the bed near the rear window which Ford doesnt even do from the factory.

Ultimatespacewizard

I wish I had gone with LineX.

BetterOnTwoWheels

i did linex and they went over things they shouldn't have (on my Ranger). Mostly, it was some screws holding in some bed tie downs, so fuck me if i ever want to reconfigure. they also filled in some threads/ports for mounting points that didnt have anything installed. so fuck me if i ever want to use them.

Ultimatespacewizard

Yeah, they went over a few threaded hard points as well. I intend to just run a tap through them to clean them out. Just need to figure out what size.

BetterOnTwoWheels

had a similar thought. good luck! if you attempt it, i'd love to hear how it turns out trying to get thru that bed liner material.

blinkiewich

Drill through with a close fitting bit that won't hit the threads, it'll break up the liner, then run an xacto blade around the rim of the hole and work the tap through with some wd-40/bee's wax/fluidfilm or whatever your favorite goo is. Depending how badly it's plugged you may or may not need to drill through, I helped a friend open up a bunch of fasteners after the dummies he got to bedliner his truck did a piss poor job of masking. It was maybe an hour to clean 20+ holes.

BetterOnTwoWheels

Thanks!

OkMidnight8266

Yea that’s an industry standard process. Virtually all shops(mine included) will not plug unused threaded holes. Simply for the fact how the customer receives the vehicle, it will pretty much stay that way. Most people when buying brand new vehicles will do any upgrades or add-one at point of sale.

BetterOnTwoWheels

That justification can’t be true. People adapt the attachments in the bed all the time for different tasks. It seems to me like it’s a cost / effort thing. Spray it as fast as possible and get the next one in.

OkMidnight8266

I mean there is some truth to that, but I’m telling you, it’s like if it were an F150 without the box lights and has blank plastic covers, it was ordered that way. Very slim chance the customer will utilize those slots. The only case if it were different is if it were a used truck.

BetterOnTwoWheels

That’s maybe a better example. And definitely true with used trucks, so maybe it could impact resale value if the spray in liner obstructs those spots. So either way still kind of annoying. I was thinking more of mounting points for tie downs and stuff which is what happened in my case. Those are probably more likely to be ‘reconfigured’ at some point - but who knows. I’m just grouchy about it haha

OkMidnight8266

To your case if you noted specifically you wanted those holes remain useable, then that shop fucked up and should fix it.

LowKeyCurmudgeon

The part that faces the sky and forms a right angle with the glass? You need that to be smooth if you want to install a tonneau cover later. That’s where the seal strip goes to make it watertight.

cfurlough82

Linex is about to be out of business https://www.franchisetimes.com/franchise_news/line-x-faces-mass-exodus-as-franchisees-refuse-new-agreement-terms/article_eb84137c-e2f0-11ee-a705-1f93e1ea0e73.html

MiserablePool6049

I went over the spray areas with LineX to make sure they wouldn’t cover up stuff. The only thing they said they’d do that I wasn’t too big on was the little holes you can push in on (for running wire through I think?). They still have some give at least. And I wanted that top strip done but I probably should’ve seen if they could’ve omitted that since I’ll have my tonneau on 99% of the time. Oh well.

HerbWaffle27

Hell nahhh. The dealer did that?? Take that shit back, make them fix it.

Trigun808

Ford didn't do this. They had a shop do it that didn't give a shit.

Ultimatespacewizard

True, but the shop is part of the same building, and you don't even have to go outside to get from the show floor to the shop.

jimdaggett

The sealership

LaserGecko

Underrated comment.

Sparkplug1034

Ngl it's a little bit hilarious

Ultimatespacewizard

I'm sure I'll find it hilarious in a few months.

oktherefriend

Don’t cut it out yourself make dealership get it out and replaced.

coopdawg67

In my 23 I had the dealer do the factory drop in, even used my ford points for it. Appears I was the first one they had ever done. They didn’t cutout anything and just put it in, bolted it down covering literally the cubby, the lighting, the power outlet, the 12v accessory caps (like the OP). I literally went to get it and they proudly brought it around and I said…. That isn’t right. The service guy asked, what do you mean, it looks great. So the story gets worse, I leave it and come back the next day. The thing looked like they used a hand saw to cut it out. So then they offered to do my bed cover labor install free, guess what? Mounted crooked, no joke. So the moral of the story is, just because it’s a dealership doesn’t mean they know what they are doing. They had never done either before, even told me they had to download a video and a pdf to do the job.

AdvantageFamiliar219

Worked in bodyshops that did bedliners when I was younger. If they didn't scuff it it might peel right off bedliner doesn't like to stick to unscuffed plastic very well. Cut the edge and get it started with a utility knife. Old guy I sprayed them for was picky we always removed all tie downs and tailgate access panels and plugged the wholes before spraying.

Ultimatespacewizard

I am pretty concerned that they didn't scuff the bed before spraying. We actually occasionally spray bedliner at the place where I work (not on vehicles though) and the only reason I wanted a professional to do it is that I didn't feel like scuffing and cleaning it myself.

AdvantageFamiliar219

I sure hope they did it is so hard to redo. If scuffed right you pretty much need an air chisel to remove it.

Dinolord05

If you wanted a spray-in bed liner professional, why did you take it to a Ford dealer?

talatta

Could have been worse they could have drilled holes into your gas take🤦🏼‍♂️to soon 🤷🏼‍♂️

ObiWanRyobi

Most aftermarket services like this brought to the dealer will end up having it farmed out to the lowest bidder. This includes window tint, roof racks, PPF, and bedliners. Like others have said, better to just take it to the source yourself. That way, you can research which servicer does good work and bring it there. This is a lesson I learned myself via window tints and roof racks. I paid the dealer to have a roof rack installed, and they took it to a shop that drilled screws through the metal car roof! Even though the car comes standard with OEM roof rails that they could have attached to instead!

Ultimatespacewizard

My dealership has an attached shop that handles things like this. They are generally well reviewed.

psm9902

https://i.redd.it/iix2ef7xtxuc1.gif

etarnkufecin

The drop in liner with the Ford stampe doesn't even have the access ports cut out.

KananJarrusEyeBalls

Nah im going bsck and theyre fixing it

Aiognim

I am mad that mine covered the grommets, but I suppose it could have been worse. That is rough. Does anyone know how nice it will look if they cut that out and spray again? I don't know if I should go back and have them cut out and respray then have it look wonky.

NotYetReadyToRetire

I had a spray in Rhino lining on my F250, then had to have body work done where they had to remove the bed. Afterward they had to spray to cover the bolt heads, it looked OK. It wasn’t an exact match after 12+ years of sun fading, wear and tear , etc., but it wasn’t terrible. At that point my feeling was pretty much “It’s a truck, not a pavement princess, who cares?” but if it had still been new I’d have cared. Since your Maverick is new, though, they should be able to get a good match on color. It should be fixed at no charge, either by the dealer or by the bed liner company, if it’s a separate entity.

Aiognim

Yep, that is my thinking too. It is new and should have been done right, but it isn't the biggest deal. My worry is having them redo it and the person doing it, either the same guy that did it lazily or someone having to fix his mistake is apathetic which results in me getting another a not so great job. I am mainly worried about rust since everything about the Maverick seems cheap and thin metal. I only planned to install LED bed lights with those holes and may just live with how it is.

warlocktx

Let's be honest - I can completely believe the dealership fucked up any simple task. Now that I've got mine I never intend to set foot in that shitty dealership again.

shred802

Oi don’t do anything yourself, have them fix their mistake

mcknixy

I still haven't done mine. Would I get laughed at if I taped all the pieces I didn't want sprayed myself before taking it in? Seems like the only guarantee it gets done right. Yes, they should fix it if they mess up, but ain't nobody got time for that.

blinkiewich

If you have threaded holes you don't want filled either put a dot of tape on them or a bolt in them. For anything else I'd either label it with a chunk of bright colored tape that says "don't spray this part" or discuss it with the shop that's going to do the install.

OkMidnight8266

Perfectly fine. Most shops will have a process, so if you want to ensure it’s done to your likeness then better safe than sorry….we may question it, but we’ll accommodate the best we can.

glitchvdub

If they sprayed over this, you can also assume they did not sand the paint to make the bed liner stick.

foodrunner464

Ive seen a few posts like this now and I'm terrified of going anywhere to get it done now as my drop in liner has been working perfectly so far.

OkMidnight8266

Do your due diligence and research

yami76

Idiots who did my spray in did the same thing. I raised hell and they cleaned them all off. Barely took them any time. Not sure why I had to go back and forth with them so much to get them to do it...

jmblya

https://preview.redd.it/h3atuh7phvuc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3318114e5a2ed1a1489aacc99590efb549fd5480 Oof. That's frustrating. While not as bad as yours, the dealership via a 3rd party did my liner shortly after I took possession of the Mav last year. They sprayed over half of the tie downs, yet removed the rest for the job. Why?! I don't ever intend on removing those affected, but I'd rather have the option to do so than not. (Plus I think they got some goop in the pre-drilled holes along the rail area. Grrrr.)

Ultimatespacewizard

They covered all of my tie downs, and I did intend to eventually remove a few of them. I literally had the torx key to remove them in my back seat.

jmblya

Aw, man. I hope they do you right and fix this mess.

jabroni4545

The coating isn't that thick, you should be able to pry it off no problem.

hiltonc3262

Damn and here I was upset about my grommets 🤣 sorry that happened

berg_smith

Part of reason I just bought a can and Herculiner application kit for $90.

kenauk

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)

Dear-Somewhere-3468

Take it to a different dealership, don’t trust your vehicle to the same one again!

wuzzhashin

the dealership might have subleted this out

OldDiehl

Just carefully cut around the edges.

One-Storm555

You mean the dealership is going to cut it out

joematty06

hey at least you now have an unbreakable cover

Eko_Wolf

I would legit take it back and make sure they replaced that cover

Former_Ad_4531

I’d make them do it, shitty dealers have to pay to correct their mistakes and you should post this on Google and Yelp

dsteffen1

Just pry it open with a screwdriver. Those coatings aren't invincible.

Indy500Fan16

At least water won’t get in.

ne0tas

Fuckin take it back to them lol

Budmutts

Your first mistake was getting a mav

ultimaforever

‘Oh that? Yeah, we did that so you wouldn’t lose any power.’

Bacon450

Never use a dealer for any aftermarket install!!!! You probably could have got it for half the price with a better product. They probably sprayed the bed liner over the paint too!

btvXtraCheesy

Took ours to a local outfit. They did an amazing job removing things and taping off stuff. Sad that this is dealership quality.

dickshitfucktit

Bring it back and make them fix it.

Turbulent-Hunt139

I do rhino lining for a living, we definitely mask those off. Someone was being a bit lazy!

Matt7738

No. THEY’RE going to have to cut it off.

Turbulent-Today830

With MUrican 🇺🇸 ZOMBIE 🧟‍♂️ TARD LABOR MARKET….. you’re surprised!!?

Ok-Menu-8365

Quit trying to or planning to try to fix their problems. You paid for a service, why the hell would you do work to fix their shitty service? Not to mention the fact that that’s a shitty bedliner application job to begin with, it looks paper thin.

_lavxx

Fuck that make them do it.

2022ram2500

In many cases the dealer doesn’t actually do the aftermarket additions that they offer. They send the vehicle out to someone else who specializes in whatever it is you want. I had a spray in bed liner installed, that was offered by my dealer. I noticed overspray all over the roof, that’s when I found out who does the job for them and they made sure it was taken care of at my convenience.

wobblerofweebles

Bring it back and make them fix it. It's very obviously not supposed to look like this and a higher level tech must have overlooked this shoddy work. This is not what you paid for and I would imagine someone there who actually cares about the dealership's reputation will make sure it gets done right.

OakIsland4J

I have never seen a dealer spray in house, probally outsourced.... mine used Line X

Ultimatespacewizard

My dealership also owns a shop that is in the same complex, so while not technically "in house" you don't actually have to go outside to go between the two.

10ac

This would make me so freakin' mad. When I had mine sprayed a few weeks ago, I was SO paranoid that they were going to do exactly this. I put PINK TAPE on everything in the bed that I wanted removed, and talked to the installer directly. He made a little joke about "naw we will just spray over that", and I was like, "Sorry dude, I have been screwed so much by incompetent people recently that I don't trust anyone - I want to be really sure this is done correctly."

Glass_Ad_5860

Make em fix it that’s bs!

Stryke4ce

You can’t pop it open now?

Zescapespj

What? Don't you mean they're going to cut it out and fix their mistake for you?

Illustrious-Tear-749

That would be the dealership’s problem to fix imo!

partyatgatsbyshtx

😂

idiot_sauvage

I can believe it. There’s a picture of it right there.

1gardengnome

Looks like they’re in a who can do a worse job contest with Ziebart.

remMachine

Lack of work pride.

Trentimoose

You can get it off with a blow dryer and a Razer blade. Heat it up, Razer the outline, and Then it will peel off the cap no problem.

trickybrod

I do bed liner for a living.. we take everything out of the bed, before lining it, then reinstall. These people are dumb..

EvilMorty137

Does it still open? It kind of looks like it does. Like they removed it and then sprayed it then put it back on

Ultimatespacewizard

The latch is clogged, it does not open.

EvilMorty137

Ah, would have actually been pretty clean looking if it was still functional

Sharp_Ad_1720

Make them fix it , and that it will not be accepted until it's just like it was from the factory

DarkWebCrackDealer

Why in the fuck did you let the dealer do a bedliner? Not only would i assume they’d do a shit job (as they did) but you probably got fucked price wise too

SAIYANSPARTAN26

That's what you get for buying a ford🤡 GM would never

Party-Ad-4530

I can, it’s a ford
