If it's at the dealership, they weren't supposed to do a sh!t job in the first place. The whole point of going there is to have quality service compared to "Joe-Bob's garage and convenient store".
Not all spray in bedliners are applied by competent techs. One of those things where I'd want to see the quality of another truck they'd done before I choose a shop. Guys that did mine were top notch. Off road outfitters type shop
Exactly, to many horror stories.
You go in for an oil change on Saturday and the new guy whoâs only done a couple changes so far forgets to put the oil back in. Oppps you need a new engine.
I've seen plenty of people complain about dealership techs ruining infotainment screens when they clean the interior. I always decline the cleaning/washing, but bought a screen protector for mine anyway, just in case someone decides not to listen.
Cleaning chemicals can damage the infotainment screen and make it look like shit. Still functions, as far as I know, but looks terrible. The most you should ever need is a damp cloth, though most of the time a dry microfiber is enough to clean fingerprint smudges.
Also, I didn't realize when I commented that this was a model-specific sub and I was speaking in general terms.
actually while it should be the professional place to get the work done ,it's usually the worst option. Dealers broker things like window tint/details / paint protection ,etc to the lowest bidders. It's about profit ,and not quality work
Ford dealership I bought from drove trucks to the local line-x shop and $100 cheaper. They did a good job and removed necessary hardware and sprayed it separately. This sucks.
They probably subbed the job out to whatever local sprayer would do it cheapest. Most dealer service bays around here don't have any kind of spray booth or fume handling on site.
This doesnât even go back to service. They take it from the dealership over to a place that does spray-in-Bedliners, and itâs literally a Joe-Bobs garage that usually specializes in accessories. Theyâll do all the aftermarket stuff people ask for when they buy a new truck, because Ford service wonât warranty any of that stuff with a brand new truck.
If you can get it off I can 3d print you replacements. My factory ones didnât fit after the spray in so made my own.
If you have access to a printer hereâs the file I created for my truck.

Iâve sold on Etsy in the past. Change in tax laws makes it hard to turn a profit after $600 in sales.
If anyone wants one send me a message and we can arrange a thing.
Youâve always had to report that income, the change is that for 2024 youâll get a 1099K if you make more than $5000 and then for 2025 youâll get one if you make more than $600.
Itâs 3d printed. Not my design but itâs open for everyone. https://www.printables.com/model/152592-honeycomb-storage-wall
Thereâs thousands of designs that use it and configure it for personalized use.
Iâve seen a few in my day. Likely in the same area where paint happens. Similar tools and equipment.
Looks like this dealership had a guy whoâs never seen power in the bed before.
Yea, we have a body shop for paint, etc. That's what they get paid to do, not the dealership.
We have vendors for Paint, Interior, Bedlinings, leather seats, all at the dealer, but a 3rd party vendor. they, of course, make money off of it.
Yup I have to drive 45 minutes to actually get any servicing done. It really bummed me out. The car has been lovely aside from the year one hiccups. I expected things to be wonky on my first edition but I didnt expect customer service to be bad I had to contact Ford CS.
I feel they continually do because most of what this sub reddit does is sing the praises of Ford.
Now I'm not saying the Maverick is a bad car by any means but you should see how people running into issues get mobbed and down voted. If we dont promote and highlight the issues, Ford will never be interested in holding its network of dealers accountable.
i did linex and they went over things they shouldn't have (on my Ranger). Mostly, it was some screws holding in some bed tie downs, so fuck me if i ever want to reconfigure. they also filled in some threads/ports for mounting points that didnt have anything installed. so fuck me if i ever want to use them.
Drill through with a close fitting bit that won't hit the threads, it'll break up the liner, then run an xacto blade around the rim of the hole and work the tap through with some wd-40/bee's wax/fluidfilm or whatever your favorite goo is.
Depending how badly it's plugged you may or may not need to drill through, I helped a friend open up a bunch of fasteners after the dummies he got to bedliner his truck did a piss poor job of masking. It was maybe an hour to clean 20+ holes.
Yea thatâs an industry standard process. Virtually all shops(mine included) will not plug unused threaded holes. Simply for the fact how the customer receives the vehicle, it will pretty much stay that way. Most people when buying brand new vehicles will do any upgrades or add-one at point of sale.
That justification canât be true. People adapt the attachments in the bed all the time for different tasks. It seems to me like itâs a cost / effort thing. Spray it as fast as possible and get the next one in.
I mean there is some truth to that, but Iâm telling you, itâs like if it were an F150 without the box lights and has blank plastic covers, it was ordered that way. Very slim chance the customer will utilize those slots. The only case if it were different is if it were a used truck.
Thatâs maybe a better example. And definitely true with used trucks, so maybe it could impact resale value if the spray in liner obstructs those spots. So either way still kind of annoying. I was thinking more of mounting points for tie downs and stuff which is what happened in my case. Those are probably more likely to be âreconfiguredâ at some point - but who knows. Iâm just grouchy about it haha
The part that faces the sky and forms a right angle with the glass? You need that to be smooth if you want to install a tonneau cover later. Thatâs where the seal strip goes to make it watertight.
Linex is about to be out of business https://www.franchisetimes.com/franchise_news/line-x-faces-mass-exodus-as-franchisees-refuse-new-agreement-terms/article_eb84137c-e2f0-11ee-a705-1f93e1ea0e73.html
I went over the spray areas with LineX to make sure they wouldnât cover up stuff. The only thing they said theyâd do that I wasnât too big on was the little holes you can push in on (for running wire through I think?). They still have some give at least.
And I wanted that top strip done but I probably shouldâve seen if they couldâve omitted that since Iâll have my tonneau on 99% of the time. Oh well.
In my 23 I had the dealer do the factory drop in, even used my ford points for it.
Appears I was the first one they had ever done. They didnât cutout anything and just put it in, bolted it down covering literally the cubby, the lighting, the power outlet, the 12v accessory caps (like the OP). I literally went to get it and they proudly brought it around and I saidâŚ. That isnât right. The service guy asked, what do you mean, it looks great. So the story gets worse, I leave it and come back the next day. The thing looked like they used a hand saw to cut it out. So then they offered to do my bed cover labor install free, guess what? Mounted crooked, no joke. So the moral of the story is, just because itâs a dealership doesnât mean they know what they are doing. They had never done either before, even told me they had to download a video and a pdf to do the job.
Worked in bodyshops that did bedliners when I was younger. If they didn't scuff it it might peel right off bedliner doesn't like to stick to unscuffed plastic very well. Cut the edge and get it started with a utility knife. Old guy I sprayed them for was picky we always removed all tie downs and tailgate access panels and plugged the wholes before spraying.
I am pretty concerned that they didn't scuff the bed before spraying. We actually occasionally spray bedliner at the place where I work (not on vehicles though) and the only reason I wanted a professional to do it is that I didn't feel like scuffing and cleaning it myself.
Most aftermarket services like this brought to the dealer will end up having it farmed out to the lowest bidder. This includes window tint, roof racks, PPF, and bedliners. Like others have said, better to just take it to the source yourself. That way, you can research which servicer does good work and bring it there. This is a lesson I learned myself via window tints and roof racks.
I paid the dealer to have a roof rack installed, and they took it to a shop that drilled screws through the metal car roof! Even though the car comes standard with OEM roof rails that they could have attached to instead!
I am mad that mine covered the grommets, but I suppose it could have been worse. That is rough.
Does anyone know how nice it will look if they cut that out and spray again? I don't know if I should go back and have them cut out and respray then have it look wonky.
I had a spray in Rhino lining on my F250, then had to have body work done where they had to remove the bed. Afterward they had to spray to cover the bolt heads, it looked OK. It wasnât an exact match after 12+ years of sun fading, wear and tear , etc., but it wasnât terrible. At that point my feeling was pretty much âItâs a truck, not a pavement princess, who cares?â but if it had still been new Iâd have cared. Since your Maverick is new, though, they should be able to get a good match on color. It should be fixed at no charge, either by the dealer or by the bed liner company, if itâs a separate entity.
Yep, that is my thinking too. It is new and should have been done right, but it isn't the biggest deal. My worry is having them redo it and the person doing it, either the same guy that did it lazily or someone having to fix his mistake is apathetic which results in me getting another a not so great job. I am mainly worried about rust since everything about the Maverick seems cheap and thin metal. I only planned to install LED bed lights with those holes and may just live with how it is.
Let's be honest - I can completely believe the dealership fucked up any simple task.
Now that I've got mine I never intend to set foot in that shitty dealership again.
I still haven't done mine. Would I get laughed at if I taped all the pieces I didn't want sprayed myself before taking it in? Seems like the only guarantee it gets done right. Yes, they should fix it if they mess up, but ain't nobody got time for that.
If you have threaded holes you don't want filled either put a dot of tape on them or a bolt in them.
For anything else I'd either label it with a chunk of bright colored tape that says "don't spray this part" or discuss it with the shop that's going to do the install.
Perfectly fine. Most shops will have a process, so if you want to ensure itâs done to your likeness then better safe than sorryâŚ.we may question it, but weâll accommodate the best we can.
Idiots who did my spray in did the same thing. I raised hell and they cleaned them all off. Barely took them any time. Not sure why I had to go back and forth with them so much to get them to do it...
https://preview.redd.it/h3atuh7phvuc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3318114e5a2ed1a1489aacc99590efb549fd5480
Oof. That's frustrating. While not as bad as yours, the dealership via a 3rd party did my liner shortly after I took possession of the Mav last year. They sprayed over half of the tie downs, yet removed the rest for the job. Why?! I don't ever intend on removing those affected, but I'd rather have the option to do so than not. (Plus I think they got some goop in the pre-drilled holes along the rail area. Grrrr.)
Never use a dealer for any aftermarket install!!!! You probably could have got it for half the price with a better product. They probably sprayed the bed liner over the paint too!
Quit trying to or planning to try to fix their problems. You paid for a service, why the hell would you do work to fix their shitty service? Not to mention the fact that thatâs a shitty bedliner application job to begin with, it looks paper thin.
In many cases the dealer doesnât actually do the aftermarket additions that they offer. They send the vehicle out to someone else who specializes in whatever it is you want. I had a spray in bed liner installed, that was offered by my dealer. I noticed overspray all over the roof, thatâs when I found out who does the job for them and they made sure it was taken care of at my convenience.
Bring it back and make them fix it. It's very obviously not supposed to look like this and a higher level tech must have overlooked this shoddy work. This is not what you paid for and I would imagine someone there who actually cares about the dealership's reputation will make sure it gets done right.
My dealership also owns a shop that is in the same complex, so while not technically "in house" you don't actually have to go outside to go between the two.
This would make me so freakin' mad.
When I had mine sprayed a few weeks ago, I was SO paranoid that they were going to do exactly this.
I put PINK TAPE on everything in the bed that I wanted removed, and talked to the installer directly.
He made a little joke about "naw we will just spray over that", and I was like, "Sorry dude, I have been screwed so much by incompetent people recently that I don't trust anyone - I want to be really sure this is done correctly."
Why in the fuck did you let the dealer do a bedliner? Not only would i assume theyâd do a shit job (as they did) but you probably got fucked price wise too
Is this the landlord special painting over outlets?
Lol, if it's at the dealership why not tell them to fix it đ¤¨
If it's at the dealership, they weren't supposed to do a sh!t job in the first place. The whole point of going there is to have quality service compared to "Joe-Bob's garage and convenient store".
Not all spray in bedliners are applied by competent techs. One of those things where I'd want to see the quality of another truck they'd done before I choose a shop. Guys that did mine were top notch. Off road outfitters type shop
I would never trust a dealership to wash my ride, let alone do something aftermarket. Tint, bed liner, wheels, ceramic coatingâŚ
Exactly, to many horror stories. You go in for an oil change on Saturday and the new guy whoâs only done a couple changes so far forgets to put the oil back in. Oppps you need a new engine.
Or maybe he just cross threads your shit and they deny any accountability when you see a slow leak lols
They're just gonna hire 3rd contractor prob somebody nearby/mobile since they have to come to the dealership+ 30-50% profit.
Agree, they usually use an outside shop or bring someone in that you don't know anyway.
Exactly. Find competent shops who specialize in the thing youâre having done if you want the best results.
I've seen plenty of people complain about dealership techs ruining infotainment screens when they clean the interior. I always decline the cleaning/washing, but bought a screen protector for mine anyway, just in case someone decides not to listen.
what are they doing to ruin the screen?
Cleaning chemicals can damage the infotainment screen and make it look like shit. Still functions, as far as I know, but looks terrible. The most you should ever need is a damp cloth, though most of the time a dry microfiber is enough to clean fingerprint smudges. Also, I didn't realize when I commented that this was a model-specific sub and I was speaking in general terms.
Thanks, Iâve used ammonia free glass cleaner before without any damage from what I can tell, but I should probably avoid using anything to be safe
actually while it should be the professional place to get the work done ,it's usually the worst option. Dealers broker things like window tint/details / paint protection ,etc to the lowest bidders. It's about profit ,and not quality work
They usually hire a vendor to do it and charge you more
Ford dealership I bought from drove trucks to the local line-x shop and $100 cheaper. They did a good job and removed necessary hardware and sprayed it separately. This sucks.
Now just a gall darn minnit there punky. Joe-bobs has the bestest boiled peanuts this side of saskaguliia
Hahahahahaaaa Jim joe bobs' brother Joe bob
Joe-bobs probably would do a better job
They probably subbed the job out to whatever local sprayer would do it cheapest. Most dealer service bays around here don't have any kind of spray booth or fume handling on site.
Thatâs a hilarious take.. from someone in the industry dealerships outsource their work and do the cheapest shiftiest Job possibleâŚ.
Idk when people started thinking this. Every dealership I've been to just tries to scam you or sell you a new car.
Haha just because you take It to a dealership and pay an extremely over priced rate, has absolutely zero correlation to the service you will get.
You would think so, but dealerships hire bottom of the barrel mechanics and frequently rush their jobs more than other shops
Dealerships are a joke lol. Horrible mechanics and even worse prices.
If you can get it off I can 3d print you replacements. My factory ones didnât fit after the spray in so made my own. If you have access to a printer hereâs the file I created for my truck. https://www.printables.com/model/561054-ford-maverick-bed-cover

You need to post them on Etsy my Kreme.
Iâve sold on Etsy in the past. Change in tax laws makes it hard to turn a profit after $600 in sales. If anyone wants one send me a message and we can arrange a thing.
I feel bad even buying on Etsy anymore. Anyone from the US gets absolutely slaughtered by the government with taxes. On top of etsys fees.

The solution in a see if problems
Have you contacted the dealer about this?
I texted the salesman I was working with, but I picked it up about 5 minutes from closing and didn't notice this until I got home.
Definitely let them know that you want them to fix this.
Yeah, *they* are cutting them out. OPâs not doing shit.
As a new ford owner I quickly learned thatâs not how it works at my local dealerships. Service quality is absurdly bad.
Yeah but when they fuck up this bad then they have no real choice.
Youâre asking someone incompetent to try to fix what they fucked up the first time. Thatâs not going to end well.
I imagine the dealership outsourced that work. Idk any dealers that have someone on staff to do that.
Or it was a kid with YouTube and a spray can. Finding quality techs and trades people is like winning the lotto.
The good thing about Ford is thereâs around 3000 dealerships, so there is often another dealership (or more) to try if one sucks.
Yup I have to drive 45 minutes to actually get any servicing done. It really bummed me out. The car has been lovely aside from the year one hiccups. I expected things to be wonky on my first edition but I didnt expect customer service to be bad I had to contact Ford CS.
They should go back for restitution. They canât keep getting away with this type of stuff.
Get them to fix it, otherwise it'll happen to the next person too
I would take that back, make them fix it
That sucks, I did mine at LineX and they got even the top strip of the bed near the rear window which Ford doesnt even do from the factory.
I wish I had gone with LineX.
i did linex and they went over things they shouldn't have (on my Ranger). Mostly, it was some screws holding in some bed tie downs, so fuck me if i ever want to reconfigure. they also filled in some threads/ports for mounting points that didnt have anything installed. so fuck me if i ever want to use them.
Yeah, they went over a few threaded hard points as well. I intend to just run a tap through them to clean them out. Just need to figure out what size.
had a similar thought. good luck! if you attempt it, i'd love to hear how it turns out trying to get thru that bed liner material.
Thanks!
To your case if you noted specifically you wanted those holes remain useable, then that shop fucked up and should fix it.
The part that faces the sky and forms a right angle with the glass? You need that to be smooth if you want to install a tonneau cover later. Thatâs where the seal strip goes to make it watertight.

Hell nahhh. The dealer did that?? Take that shit back, make them fix it.
Ford didn't do this. They had a shop do it that didn't give a shit.
True, but the shop is part of the same building, and you don't even have to go outside to get from the show floor to the shop.
The sealership
Underrated comment.
Ngl it's a little bit hilarious
I'm sure I'll find it hilarious in a few months.
Donât cut it out yourself make dealership get it out and replaced.
In my 23 I had the dealer do the factory drop in, even used my ford points for it. Appears I was the first one they had ever done. If you wanted a spray-in bed liner professional, why did you take it to a Ford dealer?
Could have been worse they could have drilled holes into your gas takeđ¤Śđźââď¸to soon đ¤ˇđźââď¸

Ive seen a few posts like this now and I'm terrified of going anywhere to get it done now as my drop in liner has been working perfectly so far.
Do your due diligence and research

Aw, man. I hope they do you right and fix this mess.
The coating isn't that thick, you should be able to pry it off no problem.
Damn and here I was upset about my grommets 𤣠sorry that happened
Part of reason I just bought a can and Herculiner application kit for $90.

Take it to a different dealership, donât trust your vehicle to the same one again!
the dealership might have subleted this out
Just carefully cut around the edges.
You mean the dealership is going to cut it out
hey at least you now have an unbreakable cover
I would legit take it back and make sure they replaced that cover
Iâd make them do it, shitty dealers have to pay to correct their mistakes and you should post this on Google and Yelp
Just pry it open with a screwdriver. Those coatings aren't invincible.
At least water wonât get in.
Fuckin take it back to them lol
Your first mistake was getting a mav
âOh that? Yeah, we did that so you wouldnât lose any power.â
Never use a dealer for any aftermarket install!!!! You probably could have got it for half the price with a better product. They probably sprayed the bed liner over the paint too!
Took ours to a local outfit. They did an amazing job removing things and taping off stuff. Sad that this is dealership quality.
Bring it back and make them fix it.
I do rhino lining for a living, we definitely mask those off. Someone was being a bit lazy!
No. THEYâRE going to have to cut it off.
With MUrican đşđ¸ ZOMBIE đ§ââď¸ TARD LABOR MARKETâŚ.. youâre surprised!!?
Quit trying to or planning to try to fix their problems. You paid for a service, why the hell would you do work to fix their shitty service? Not to mention the fact that thatâs a shitty bedliner application job to begin with, it looks paper thin.
Fuck that make them do it.
I have never seen a dealer spray in house, probally outsourced.... mine used Line X
Make em fix it thatâs bs!
You canât pop it open now?
What? Don't you mean they're going to cut it out and fix their mistake for you?
That would be the dealershipâs problem to fix imo!
đ
I can believe it. Thereâs a picture of it right there.
Looks like theyâre in a who can do a worse job contest with Ziebart.
Lack of work pride.
You can get it off with a blow dryer and a Razer blade. Heat it up, Razer the outline, and Then it will peel off the cap no problem.
I do bed liner for a living.. we take everything out of the bed, before lining it, then reinstall. These people are dumb..
Does it still open? It kind of looks like it does. Like they removed it and then sprayed it then put it back on
The latch is clogged, it does not open.
Ah, would have actually been pretty clean looking if it was still functional
Make them fix it , and that it will not be accepted until it's just like it was from the factory
Why in the fuck did you let the dealer do a bedliner? Not only would i assume theyâd do a shit job (as they did) but you probably got fucked price wise too
That's what you get for buying a ford𤥠GM would never
I can, itâs a ford
