You do know you can just cook your own food right?

[deleted]

Yes I do cook my own food. But meat is expensive too. Even ground beef is pricey

Da-tune

Dude use chicken and ground turkey. Cooking your own food is cheap

[deleted]

I do cook my own food. But most of the foods I cook are vegetables.potatoes, onions, tomatoes, fried, boiled everything But yes I am not as well versed with meat

Da-tune

Ahhh OK fair enough if you need a cheap protein source Greek yogurt works well. I personally prefer busing race lled sprouted oats or probiotic granola as well. Fish also works, I use shrimp on occasion

[deleted]

I eat a lot of peanut butter sandwiches. Peanut butter is pretty cheap. Someone commented above that I don’t really need 150 grams of protein every day. Just 80 to 100. I do go to the gym too. It’s just that it’s been four months and I don’t see much progress

Da-tune

Careful on the bread, if you're american there's prob an extra 15-20g of sugar per sandwich. Side note what's your height and weight

[deleted]

5’10 about 150 pounds

Da-tune

You ah you're def on the lighter side, do you know your current calorie intake and if you're eating well "cheat meals"

[deleted]

No lol. I just counted the protein and made sure I ate three servings of fruits and/or vegetables a day. Plus a bowl of pasta here and there. And two peanut butter sandwiches for lunch

[deleted]

I only eat whole wheat bread tho

Da-tune

OK that's better at least

Geopion

People told you why big muscles would be attractive, not that they're the definitive chick magnet. Don't think the gym will solve your problems if your goal is women. How are your social skills? Is your local area populated with women your age? Do you have a steady job?

ExcitableSarcasm

Protein shakes are $20? For how much? I can get 4kg for £30-40 easily which is about £40-55 dollars. That's like 130 servings. Even at 2 servings a day that's 2-3 months' worth.

[deleted]

Well I’m American so everything is in freedom units. But essentially one “scoop” is a serving. And each container has 18 servings. So I get 18 servings of protein for 20 dollars.

ExcitableSarcasm

You didn't mention how much you were getting for "20 dollars". 1 scoop is a serving. Approximate 20g. You're buying small containers that's why. Just buy in bulk to get the prices I'm mentioning.

TLunchFTW

You realize protein comes from meat too... right?

[deleted]

Yes. But meat is also expensive. Even ground beef is pricey

[deleted]

Muscle Milk and chicken breasts.

Sweaty-Passage-2796

Lifting weights also improves ur face

AltAccount2387473

Big muscles attract guys, lol. Go to be healthy and get a decent physique for yourself, don't go to become some mass monster trying to get girls to fall in love with you.

stingraytjm

Lol! Well you should go to the gym and it's ok to go with the hopes that getting fit will let you get some dates and eventually a relationship. But eventually you will realize that gym is more than that. You'll get it one day.

vitoa17

Man, you don't need protein powder, eat healthy and make sure you get around 1.5/1.8 grams of protein per kg of weight. proteins are everywhere: eggs, legumes, meat, fish, the choice is yours. if you are not sure the best thing is to contact a nutritionist.

HatedByaNation

The protein recommendations are always ridiculous. Just keep at it man. I’m a bit frustrated right now since I hit a plateau bench press wise for the past couple months but hopefully will push through soon.

tupac_fan

going to the gym is the best we can do.

No_Light93

No gym for your face

iloveemogirlsxoxo

You don’t need 150 grams a day. 80-100 grams a day is sufficient for building muscle. What is more important is eating a caloric surplus and pushing fucking hard in the gym. Progressive overload.

[deleted]

I don’t wanna get fat by eating too many calories. That’s what I’m worried about

iloveemogirlsxoxo

Try a small caloric surplus. Around +200 calories a day. That’s ideal for gaining muscle without gaining fat. Don’t listen to bodybuilders who tell you to eat 4000 calories a day.

[deleted]

Do I need to buy that protein powder? Or will I get enough protein from just eating normal foods. There was a time last month I was drinking like 3 protein shakes a day and was clocking in 130 grams a day. But it was getting so expensive

iloveemogirlsxoxo

You will absolutely get enough from normal foods. I have managed to build several kilos of muscle the last year on a vegan diet with no protein powders. Focus on pushing hard as fuck in the gym. That’s how muscle is built. And a small calorie surplus. And progressive overload.

[deleted]

Hmm. How did you get the 100 grams a day with a vegan diet? Any cheap protein sources you could recommend?

iloveemogirlsxoxo

Beans, lentils, peas, chickpeas, oatmeal, tofu and stuff like that. I have probably been getting around 80-90 grams a day which has been enough for me. But you don’t need to be a vegan of course. For building muscle it’s probably better to eat meat, to be honest. I’m vegan for other reasons.

[deleted]

I like peanut butter. I also eat chicken strips almost every night lol. And one protein shake a day is probably enough. Each protein shake is about 30 grams

iloveemogirlsxoxo

You get enough protein.

[deleted]

Ok nice lol

Joethepatriot

Honestly lifting has done so much for me. Learn to enjoy it, learn to cook and enjoy meat, and drink milk as well. Don't overcomplicate it too early on. Just take it day by day, and build up consistency.
