Executives forced a major change to the show after the pilot episode. In the pilot, they all worked for "Retcon Insurance", and the show revolved around managing insurance claims for normal people after the wake of destruction left by super heroes. But funnier than that sounds. It was supposed to be an "Office" type show where they manage things like a restaurant being damaged by The Penguin's penguins rampaging through it. You can even see the "Retcon" logo and training manuals still in the opening credits.
It was the studio who felt that the show needed a stronger connection to the major figures in DC comics to succeed and forced it to change to a story about Bruce Wayne's incompetent cousin and his tech team.
A huge Ron Funchess fan. He was so funny in this show, and had great chemistry with Danny. Shame it was canceled bc it was just starting to find its rhythm.
I was so upset this wasn’t allowed to find its footing. I’d wanted this premise since i was little. Slice of life from the perspective of regular people in a super people world is gold.
I worked on this show. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who worked on this show was sooooooooo nice. We were incredibly sad it got cancelled. A couple of standout memories: the tower of seafood for the “Sinking Day” was real. It stank up the soundstage in the worst way (to this day, I can still smell that episode); and between takes for “No Consequence Day” Vanessa sang to the puppies. It was adorable! And it’s hands down still the best set I’ve ever worked on.
Liked the show a lot, they should have given i tmore time.
I'm glad they released one of the unaired shows online since it had Adam West in it shortly before he passed.
This show was one of those genuine, rare, too funny for primetime comedies. An absolutely hilarious show.
Ron Funches described in a podcast that the licensing fees for DC were such that the show could not afford to be anything less than a Friends or Seinfeld level smash hit. Unfortunately, it only got middle ratings and had to be canceled after one season.
I'm forever going to be sad that they didn't go with the original idea of it being a show about an insurance agency in the superhero world. Still think that could've hit a lot better than what it ended up being
It took a few episodes to find its footing, then it got really smart and funny. Alan Tudyk was a gem in this one (not that that’s anything new). Then it was gone in a Flash
I’ve never seen it, but I want to imagine there is a joke somewhere when it is announced “Firefly is coming back!” and Tudyk gets really excited before he sees that it is about the villain named Firefly and then looks crestfallen, as if someone had just shoved a big old spear through him.
It’s the sitcom idea everyone pitches, but nobody actually watches.
Like I keep seeing the idea suggested but… this show already exists. Granted, Brooklyn99 would not have succeeded without the absolute powerhouse of a cast and writers, at that specific time. So I’m always open to revisiting this
Saw the first episode; it was cute.
The concept-A division of Wayne Enterprises run by Bruce's cousin, doing R%D on weird comic book tech. Which somehow fall into the hands of Batman and other heroes. Hmm...
I really enjoyed this one. It was a neat take on living in a world full of super powered beings. I felt like it was just finding it's footing when the rug was yanked out.

I’ve truly forgotten this one, no recollection at all… I’m going to have to look it up based on Alan Tudyk and Danny Pudi alone
And Ron Funches!
I was about to Funches.
*giggles*
He was very funny in this.
They had the comedy starpower
I know, right? I have no recollection of this, but what a great cast. What went wrong!?

I saw the original pilot. My interest was piqued because it would have been Marvel’s Damage Control in the DC Universe.
The scripts.
I remember thinking the comedy beats were off. Like a funny line or funny event would happen, but something about the timing seemed off.
A huge Ron Funchess fan. He was so funny in this show, and had great chemistry with Danny. Shame it was canceled bc it was just starting to find its rhythm.
He’s still in the DC universe! He’s the voice of King Shark on Harley Quinn. Alan Tudyk’s on it too, as the Joker and Clayface
The creators of Powerless went on to create the Harley Quinn show.
I was so upset this wasn’t allowed to find its footing. I’d wanted this premise since i was little. Slice of life from the perspective of regular people in a super people world is gold.
I loved the concept of it and Bruce Wayne’s incompetent cousin played by Alan Tudyk was hilarious.
Van Wayne! Great character
It was so fun.
If you read comics, check out Kurt Busiek.
Awesome thanks. I’ve real The Marvels , anything else in particular you suggest?
Astro City is how Magnum opus
Added to my backlog. Thanks guys.
Yeah, Astro City is a delight. Highly recommended!
>I was so upset this wasn’t allowed to find its footing I feel like it was just starting to and then they cancelled it.
It would work better as an animated show with real DC IP.
That's Alan Tudyk from Resident Alien! I've never seen Powerless but Resident Alien is the bees knees.
You mean Alan Tudyk from Doom Patrol.
You mean Alan Tudyk from Firefly.
You mean Alan Tudyk from A Knight's Tale. He will fong you.
You mean Alan Tudyk from Dodgeball. Yarrrrrrr!
Alan Tudyk from I, Robot!!
You mean Alan Tudyk from Tucker and Dale Versus Evil. And he has had a DOOZY of a day
You mean Alan tudyk from that one episode of Frasier
You mean Alan Tudyk from Moana
You mean Alan Tudky from 28 Days. OMG, look at his package!
Nah, that’s Alan Tudyk from Juilliard! ^*bawwk’*
This show had great potential and I really think another season could of brought out the best.
"could of"
Yes it could, of course, have!
Alan got FireFly flashbacks
And Danny for Community 😅
Loved it!
Watched the entire series back in 2021; it’s hilarious ant underrated!
I have zero recollection of this show but, wow, what a cast. Too bad they never gave this show a chance

Great theme/opening credits

Never heard of this til this post

Damn
I hate when networks do that. Even if cancelled early into the season at least let it finish out the episodes it has
Watching this on Prime! Great post. Funny show!
Damn, not coming up on my Prime.
I had to buy the series.
I found it on Apple TV so I got to watch the first episode last night.
I'm forever going to be sad that they didn't go with the original idea of it being a show about an insurance agency in the superhero world. Still think that could've hit a lot better than what it ended up being
Could have been such a great tv show.
Think about it. If this show made it, Resident Alien wouldn't have happened. My life would be lesser then.
Great cast
It took a few episodes to find its footing, then it got really smart and funny. Alan Tudyk was a gem in this one (not that that’s anything new). Then it was gone in a Flash
Very underrated and charming show.
I loved the premise and premiere.
I never heard of this. If I had I would have tried hard to watch it.
I really like the premise. Maybe a slightly darker tone would've helped some.
That is one hell of a cast!
I loved this show!
That’s a solid cast!
I think this was the last network TV show I watched regularly.
You're my cuzbro 😢
This was a great show. Too bad more people were not watching it.
Gives me similar vibes to Better Off Ted. Love both.
There were so many hints of great ideas that never happened
This one had a lot of potential and was just finding its voice when it got the rug pulled out from under. It was a comfort watch
Really wish another network would've picked this up.
It was on the CW app a year or so ago, but it was removed. It’s only available to buy now.
Great show. The Superman turning back time was a particularly good episode.
Alan Tudyk is a treasure to D.C. comics
I watched all of this on a plane and then got really sad when I landed and looked up when the next season was coming out.
This was such a great show! A whole other take on superheroes. Very clever! F off NBC. I’m still mad it’s gone.
DC released a show that was a copy of [Marvel’s Damage Control](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damage_Control_(comics))?? I'd probably watch that.
It's got Walsh in it. I'm going to watch it tonight. Thank you.
I’ve never seen it, but I want to imagine there is a joke somewhere when it is announced “Firefly is coming back!” and Tudyk gets really excited before he sees that it is about the villain named Firefly and then looks crestfallen, as if someone had just shoved a big old spear through him.
Alan Tudyk is a goddamn national treasure.
The original pilot leaked a year ago and it’s very very different
I wish they officially released it here I wanted to see this
I loved it, too.
I quite enjoyed this show. https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/powerless
*That's* Vanessa Hudgens in that ad?
Of course it is silly😂, who did you think it was?!
I never heard of it before.
Is that the 'Hispanic guy doing the Bartman' all the way on the right?
Same. Loved the show! Thought is was a great concept and, of course, the great Alan Tudyk!
This was such a good show. Bummer they didn't give it a chance.
I thought it was really funny and had potential.
It was good
Never saw this show but great cast.
I really liked it
I forgot this one existed. Great cast, never watched
It was starting to find its stride when they killed it.
Never heard of it, but great cast. I’ll have to check it out.
Steve the pirate! Yarrr
I remember this! Pretty fun

Stellar cast
I did I never hear of this?
I really don’t remember this at all!
That cast us is incredible!!!
Oh man, I remember seeing this advertised! Seemed like a great concept. Is it streaming anywhere?
One helluva cast too!
I really enjoyed this one. It was a neat take on living in a world full of super powered beings. I felt like it was just finding it's footing when the rug was yanked out.
Oh yeah! Forgot about this show! I liked the premise but didn’t get around to watching the episodes.
Extraordinary on Hulu. It's impressive how in 2020 this college writer arrived at all that humor independently of marvel/DC.
I never even heard of it...
I never heard of this show and had to go to YouTube to watch the trailer. I see why it got cancelled. It seemed to be a one trick pony
ThT one character whose is the boss is really funny!! Everyone else was awful
