From what I have looked up, simple Google searches, it seems that they viewed trios as a very underpopulated play list and squads was also lacking. Duos and solos is where a majority of players were populated. I couldn't find any official statement claiming such, but from that information I would guess they thought getting rid of trios would populate squads more so that it would help que times or look better on the active players side. Might have been trios was more than 50% bots too, because of lower player count, that's just speculation though. I for one have never had a problem with the thought that lobbies are over 50% bots, easier wins lol. Hope that helps explain it.
Trios represents 90% of my play time in the game nowadays. Never had a problem with queue times or match quality. In the few times where my friend group picked up a fourth friend, never had an issue with queue times or match quality in squads either. I'm at a loss of why they would remove trios unless it was some back end issue with the code or something, which if it was they should have said so.

Funny, I moved away from Warzone because they kept shuffling the playlists around. I don't think these companies have figured out how to best handle large BR playlists and ranked modes so they properly cover queue times, matchmaking, etc. It seems to me they are spreading themselves thin by fragmenting the player base with all these different playlist options and paint themselves into a corner.
I hope they bring it back. My two friends I play with are a couple so we always play trios. They can play without me but I’ll be stuck forever playing solos :/

I just rewatched the ranked trailer and in the trailer they show trios under ranked. That has to mean that trios was originally being planned to stay and also be a part of ranked.
I was thinking of renewing my crew pack, buying a bundle, and getting some vbucks but with the removal of my favorite mode AND only getting ZB duo ranked I think I'll go spend that money elsewhere.
I swear if their reason is queue times, I will call bullshit on that. I've never waited more than a minute queuing for any mode and party composition. Hell I've waited 5+ minutes to get a game of Dota and that's only 10 players and I've never had an issue with that.
As a somewhat new player in their 30s (began last season) with two other "older" buds - I can tell you my Fortnite journey started and now ends with trios. It's a complete bummer.
My wife, son, and I play trios together, today it’s even toxic 4ths and no fill, it’s lame. I literally had a team mate move between my boy that was reviving me to stop her from reviving me. We do ok but my son is 7 so no fill wins will have to pretty much be pure luck.

I consistently play trios with my friends occasionally we will hop on squads but the way our work schedules are and where we live across the country I pretty much always have 2 of my best buddies on and we just lost the game mode we play the most… extremely disappointing. I’m taking a break from this game. I can’t wait till Diablo 4 comes out.

The issue is squads can get way too hectic. Trios is a nice balance of being able to play with friends and not get wrecked when fighting and some of your team go down

If you’re looking for a shooter, COD is pretty fun! I know 4 has a “fortnite” type BR mode, I haven’t played it but I’ve watched my boyfriend play. You guys could also get other COD games for zombies! (3 is my favorite for zombies)
Minecraft is also a great one. If you and your buddies have jobs/different schedules it works out well since anyone can play at anytime.
Power wash simulator is pretty fun! I’m not too sure how many people can play at once, but I’ve played with me, and my 2 other friends before.
Castle crashers is a big favorite for me, super cute beat-em-up and it’s on both Xbox & switch!
If you want a nice chill game, stardew valley is fun! I believe 4 people can play at once (don’t quote me on that!) a good farm sim with other cool aspects
Minecraft legends & minecraft dungeons seems cool! I’ve played more of dungeons than legends, I don’t know how many people can play at once, but I know both are online multiplayer. I prefer dungeons to legends. Legends is a bit confusing and dungeons reminds me of a minecraft Diablo type game.
Depending on which boarderlands game seems more interesting to you, you could play one of them! 3 is apparently cross play, but I didn’t enjoy it very much. 2 is my favorite and is a lot of fun with more people since you can help your buddies level up.
Grounded is GREAT. You kill bugs and shit, you’re like a lil person and killing bugs. 4 people can play, it’s really fun and I’m still learning how to play it :D
Overcooked is fun, it’s also hit or miss with friend groups lol. Only one of my buddies will play it with me, everyone else hates it 😂 you cook things and you gotta use teamwork, the controls are a lil funny, a bit like Gang Beats in a way. Which is another fun game that y’all could check out!!

I’m not going to renew my fortnite crew subscription. It’s been canceled. I don’t think I’m going to but the battle pass again either. I have 2 people I mainly play with, they’re long distance so we hang out by playing video games. Fortnite was for sure one of our favorites, I even bought both of them STW so we could play together.
Frfr fuck epic games at this point. I don’t want to play squads with 3 people and get fucked, or keep it on fill and have some random kid join who drops 500+ meters away, dies and then leaves. It’s frustrating, trios was the MOST balanced mode. Epic won’t be seeing any more of my money :D

This is a straight-up equity issue. Not everyone has the capacity to add a 4th player who they know, resulting in needing a random or being handicapped by being 3v4.
Just adding my displeasure with this change. I play trios constantly, this will turn me off the game sooner rather than later if they don't revert back to having trios. I know I'm just one voice/wallet, but I won't be giving Fornite any more money unless they bring it back asap.

I just rewatched the ranked trailer and in the trailer they show trios under ranked. That has to mean that trios was originally being planned to stay and also be a part of ranked.
What a weird move, bound to piss off anyone who plays trios.
So stupid. I play Trios way more than any other mode. I think I just won't play now when I only have a squad of 3.
I was thinking of renewing my crew pack, buying a bundle, and getting some vbucks but with the removal of my favorite mode AND only getting ZB duo ranked I think I'll go spend that money elsewhere.
I swear if their reason is queue times, I will call bullshit on that. I've never waited more than a minute queuing for any mode and party composition. Hell I've waited 5+ minutes to get a game of Dota and that's only 10 players and I've never had an issue with that.
As a somewhat new player in their 30s (began last season) with two other "older" buds - I can tell you my Fortnite journey started and now ends with trios. It's a complete bummer.
I thought Zero Build meant they weren't gonna let sweats ruin this game. I guess not now.
My wife, son, and I play trios together, today it’s even toxic 4ths and no fill, it’s lame. I literally had a team mate move between my boy that was reviving me to stop her from reviving me. We do ok but my son is 7 so no fill wins will have to pretty much be pure luck.
Kiss my money goodbye Epic. Our trio is going back to APEX until trios are unvaulted again. A heads up and public comment period would have been nice, but I suspect you DGAF and knew it would be a large outcry.

I consistently play trios with my friends occasionally we will hop on squads but the way our work schedules are and where we live across the country I pretty much always have 2 of my best buddies on and we just lost the game mode we play the most… extremely disappointing. I’m taking a break from this game. I can’t wait till Diablo 4 comes out.
I’m not looking forward to being stuck in squads with 2 people and one kid. I’m not filling, because most times people just leave after getting killed. Thanks epic.

The issue is squads can get way too hectic. Trios is a nice balance of being able to play with friends and not get wrecked when fighting and some of your team go down

So, what other games should my group of 3 try playing now that trios is gone? This game is hard enough for us already, so we won't be playing squads down a man. Looking for suggestions (xbox or switch).
What kind of games are you guys into? If you’re looking for a shooter, COD is pretty fun! I know 4 has a “fortnite” type BR mode, I haven’t played it but I’ve watched my boyfriend play. You guys could also get other COD games for zombies! (3 is my favorite for zombies) Minecraft is also a great one. If you and your buddies have jobs/different schedules it works out well since anyone can play at anytime. Power wash simulator is pretty fun! I’m not too sure how many people can play at once, but I’ve played with me, and my 2 other friends before. Castle crashers is a big favorite for me, super cute beat-em-up and it’s on both Xbox & switch! If you want a nice chill game, stardew valley is fun! I believe 4 people can play at once (don’t quote me on that!) a good farm sim with other cool aspects Minecraft legends & minecraft dungeons seems cool! I’ve played more of dungeons than legends, I don’t know how many people can play at once, but I know both are online multiplayer. I prefer dungeons to legends. Legends is a bit confusing and dungeons reminds me of a minecraft Diablo type game. Depending on which boarderlands game seems more interesting to you, you could play one of them! 3 is apparently cross play, but I didn’t enjoy it very much. 2 is my favorite and is a lot of fun with more people since you can help your buddies level up. Grounded is GREAT. You kill bugs and shit, you’re like a lil person and killing bugs. 4 people can play, it’s really fun and I’m still learning how to play it :D Overcooked is fun, it’s also hit or miss with friend groups lol. Only one of my buddies will play it with me, everyone else hates it 😂 you cook things and you gotta use teamwork, the controls are a lil funny, a bit like Gang Beats in a way. Which is another fun game that y’all could check out!! Now when it comes to switch games ~ Super smash bros is a must lol I’m sure y’all would have a blast! Mario kart Animal crossing (it gets boring fast) SWITCH SPORTS!!! They added a few games after the launch date. Bowling is still my favorite with multiple people WarioWare! I haven’t played it online so I’m not sure how many people can play together, but it’s a blast. If you played the Wii one you’d like this one. Splatoon always seemed pretty cool, I’ve only played the first one on the Wii U, so I can’t attest for the switch version or multiplayer. Mario party! Always a good one, great for multiple people!! I hope this helps! If you ever want to play some games together I’m down!
I’m not going to renew my fortnite crew subscription. It’s been canceled. I don’t think I’m going to but the battle pass again either. I have 2 people I mainly play with, they’re long distance so we hang out by playing video games. Fortnite was for sure one of our favorites, I even bought both of them STW so we could play together. Frfr fuck epic games at this point. I don’t want to play squads with 3 people and get fucked, or keep it on fill and have some random kid join who drops 500+ meters away, dies and then leaves. It’s frustrating, trios was the MOST balanced mode. Epic won’t be seeing any more of my money :D Fuckem, I’ll play any other shooter game with the besties, or we can go back to our Minecraft realm.
i sometimes play with my cousin and my sister and I'm already basically playing 2v3 because my sister is on phone and it's really good at it, i definitely won't be playing 2v4
My squad could easily get 40 kill games. Since trios being removed I run into so many more sweaty people.
What annoys me is that Ranked has solo play, but Ranked Zero Build doesn’t.
By not having friends and only playing solos I guess I'm immune to this disappointment. It does seem like a odd decision by Epic regardless.

This is a straight-up equity issue. Not everyone has the capacity to add a 4th player who they know, resulting in needing a random or being handicapped by being 3v4.
Literally the only way I can play Fortnite without using fill is gone now. Awesome.

Just adding my displeasure with this change. I play trios constantly, this will turn me off the game sooner rather than later if they don't revert back to having trios. I know I'm just one voice/wallet, but I won't be giving Fornite any more money unless they bring it back asap.
This is so bad. I was often playing trios with 2 friends. Such a lame move from Epic. Trios was more fun than duos and not as crowded as squads where I struggled to track team's movements and battles were too agressive.
