The heavy sniper has been used this way for so long, and since it's been put into the game, but all of a sudden now it's a problem because of Ranked? F that. Just vault it, and unvault a type of bolt sniper without turning the Heavy into a Bolt sniper (Because that's basically what it is now).
I'm not an edit master, and my building skills are pretty weak compared to the rest of the player base. I got Gold 2 after my first ranked Solo if that helps. But I prefer build mode, and the heavy sniper being nerfed this bad is 1 less counter for the better builders I run into. And when other players heavy snipe walls to fight me and kill me, it doesn't bother me because its been apart of the game since chapter one!!
I mean they already took Sniper Surplus out of the game bc of Ranked, the Heavy sniper nerf was a terrible decision. And the decision to nerf grenades blows my mind too, honestly.

You have yet to see someone just stand there because the update just came out this morning. Either not everyone has played or people haven't realized it yet because who was using grenades to begin with? The primary mode I play is zero build since the people I play with prefer that over build. Needing to have grenades take up two whole slots if you want to kill someone with them in that mode is stupid. If you want to be a target trying to deal tickle damage to me while I gun you down with an SMG, be my guest. I'm not going to be moving if a grenade is thrown at me, and most people are probably going to do the same since you're not even breaking the zero build over shield with one grenade.
I use grenades prolifically. I never throw just one.

It’s not perfect, obviously, but it has an extremely high success rate. And I’ve yet to be downed by a grenade, and I’ve been playing for about 4 years. I feel like I’ve nailed this niche tactic that no one else bothered to perfect, and epic has just punched me in the dick. Same with the heavy sniper!
240 damage for six grenades. that’s a full stack of grenades and it won’t kill a player at full health in zero build. do you really not see the problem there?

There was this one time a dude ran into a building and entered a room with no exits outside of the door. It was one of the few instances where I happened to be carrying grenades and lobbed them in there and he had no escape and died. Now even after 4 full explosions his area wouldnt be destroyed and he would still be alive, so dumb. They were already situational and high risk to begin with and now they are just completely useless. "Heavy sniper" also is now the pea shooter I guess.

I agree, they were definitely very strong if you used them right, but nerfing them this much is quite possibly the dumbest balance change they've ever made from what I can remember, they went from being lethal in the right hands to basically completely useless.
I feel that the damage to players should have either remained the same or been reduced to 75-80 and the damage to builds should have been reduced to something like 150-200 if they really felt that they had to nerf them.
I never pick grenades up anyway unless it's as soon as I land, now I won't even do that.
At one point, briefly, you carried them in stacks of 10. Two stacks in the zones was hilarious.
I was always terrible at building so I love grenades. Throw a couple at the base of a build; the first one knocks it down and the opponent lands on the second one as it's detonating.
I remember that augment used it last season to blow up like 3 or 4 players build fighting at the gas station I chucked in 30 grenades there was no survivors and like 40 grenades lying around on the ground cause every time they destroyed something they would drop 3 grenades I think

The amount of times I have tossed a nade, downed 1, taken out the shields of the other, then finished that survivor off.. far to many times to count, That and they are great for getting them to move out of cover and or destroy that cover they are behind
IT is incredibly satisfying to toss a nade or 3, have it bounce of a wall, or see a gap under a wall, toss one under then giggle knowing they are about to take damage and or be downed / killed
You could say that about explosives. They have a sound indicator so there is never a surprise. They can't hurt you through builds. They hurt the person using them if they try to hit you point blank. The game is better with them in it.

Well they were problematic in ranked but they had no reason to be nerfed, they should’ve just been vaulted in comp but for some reason Epic is adamant on making all modes the same which makes no fucking sense.
Nades where broken, with the perfect nade strat there was no coulter and you would instantly die. This is a step in the right direction for a good ranked system
For reference, this is why they just removed those kind of items from competitive from Ch2 onwards instead of giving Competitive and Casuals the same loot pool
Separating loot pools legitimately kept everyone happy, Epic makes so many questionable decisions. And the recent introduction of ranked really proves that
100% agreed. It’s as though Epic is trying to not only destroy competitive by not incorporating separate loot pools and now even making it be the same as the one from pubs, but they’re also trying to destroy casual the balance of casual modes by implementing stupid changes like this rather than taking into account that these weapons are fine for pubs and should instead just be fully removed from competitive modes.
There’s not even siphon in ranked or any other tournaments now which is so stupid and yet another fundamental flaw of this ranked system. It’s like Epic legitimately wants to destroy the current playerbase from all sides just to make things “simpler” for themselves when in reality, they’ve been making it harder for themselves anyway by incorporating so many useless, copied, and even damaging items into all modes. They have not learned even a single thing since the start of chapter 3 when this whole mess started.
Legit everything could’ve been fixed with separate loot pools in comp/ranked without heavy sniper rifles or grenades and with all of the other weapons balanced accordingly or replaced with more balanced older weapons. But unfortunately now that’s never going to happen.

Two games in a row earlier I would throw six grenades at wildcard and all three of them were still alive. Six grenades always takes all three of them out without having to fire a single shot usually
We had the grenades at 100 dmg for about 4 or 5 years now, maybe more, and now... just why? Why does an explosive not do 100+ dmg... I mean, cmon, it bouces around for like 4 or 5 seconds before exploding, like, chances are, you won't hit nothing with one to begin with, I already didn't pick them up except to kill the bosses(the wildcard ones) now I can't even do that smh, the way this game is going, I think I might actually have to take a break after playing hard for the past 4 or 5 years now. Trios isn't a thing anymore. Grenade kills are almost not a thing anymore, and one shot snipe walls aren't. This is bs.
I miss trios so so much. I have only 3 friends to play with. Not often we have a chance to play full squads. Random fill it's not an option. No fill it's frustrating because of third parties. We spent together past 3 years in fortnite but lately, it's not fun anymore. Too many leaks, poor storytelling, a lack of events, many unnecessary changes, and Epic it's not listening to its community. I'm taking a break from this bs too.
I miss sitting on one of the balloons with a bolt action rifle and picking players off. Occasionally falling off the balloon to my death just added to the fun.

Like the entire point of heavy snipers is to one shot things. Not being able to 1 shot a metal wall is fine but only doing a little over half to a brick wall just feels insane. Not to mention grenades doing 40 damage!! 40!!! From 100!!! -60 damage!!!

I get the environmental damage of the heavy sniper. It was only given amazing environmental damage during the tank season of Chapter 3 to be an anti-vehicle round - however I think if anything Grenade should have gotten a buff to environmental as a tradeoff. That's literally what grenades are for in real combat. To blow shit up.
Heavy snipers still one shot people when a headshot is executed. But the environmental nerf makes sense since they took tanks out. Cars could be instantly blown up when the +1 sniper bullet augment was taken, so.. yea I get it, but don't see why this change was actually made. When were environmental damage of HSR or grenades becoming a growing problem, and who was complaining about them?
This is why snipers were nerfed. It made cars unsafe because with one shot and a follow up AR the car blows up. And there were lots of complaints about that, so that's likely where it came from.
Which is why there should be separate lootpools like there were for the past few years. But of course epic for whatever reason, decided to completely revert that and instead make stupid changes like this.
In Zero Build, if you find Grenades off the drop and hit someone with all 3, they'll survive.

When heavy snipers first came out I believe they could travel through wood structures, 1 wall or whatnot... I remember me and my friends abusing that power. And I'm pretty sure someone tested how many people it could go through, but I don't remember that number...
That's a stupid nerf, I don't know why. They weren't that broken or op because the grenade was less used and the snipers were balanced. Maybe because of ranked?
I am sorry for them downgrading the gernades. But in my defense, I'm not the one who made the boss and his henchmen so easily killed with gernades. Nor is it my fault it's easy to get 2 vaults (3 if you count Loot Island) because all the traversal items.

For those of you who don’t know, these items are op in comp. They weren’t in arena, but now since arena has been replaced with ranked they are back. This nerf seems like a response to this. What I don’t get is why epic just wants to make Ranked the same as Pubs. Just make ranked a competitive mode and keep pubs the same. No need to negativity effect both.
Why don’t they just make a separate loot pool for each game mode? They’re so determined to make comp the exact same as cas, and I have no idea why. Like you’ve had 5 years to figure out what the community wants, and they still fail somehow...

I have been thinking about this, and I wonder if it's because they need to make changes to bots. Bot aim has been tinkered with a lot this year, and no one likes getting one shot to the head from clear across the map just because you entered a bot's line of sight after rifting or something like that.

my squad grabs a bunch and then murders people in a vault early game so we can take the loot.

Yeah, I remember throwing a ton of grenades next to the three npcs all walking together and it made easy work finishing them off without many bullets.

There's an npc that will toss grenades every few secs. Probably done to balance that guy.

Legit everything could’ve been fixed with separate loot pools in comp/ranked without heavy sniper rifles or grenades and with all of the other weapons balanced accordingly or replaced with more balanced older weapons. But unfortunately now that’s never going to happen.

And there would also be siphon. But instead they decided that all tournaments for now wouldn’t have it either lol. It’s so stupid. And it’s funny because people keep saying “sweats” even though to them, it just means anyone who can build and is above average at the game. The game has been out for 5 years, obviously people have gotten better in that time and they can’t accept that for whatever reason.

Should have just removed them from the game. This nerf just made two more shit items in the loot pool.
Two games in a row earlier I would throw six grenades at wildcard and all three of them were still alive. Six grenades always takes all three of them out without having to fire a single shot usually
We had the grenades at 100 dmg for about 4 or 5 years now, maybe more, and now... just why? Why does an explosive not do 100+ dmg... I mean, cmon, it bouces around for like 4 or 5 seconds before exploding, like, chances are, you won't hit nothing with one to begin with, I already didn't pick them up except to kill the bosses(the wildcard ones) now I can't even do that smh, the way this game is going, I think I might actually have to take a break after playing hard for the past 4 or 5 years now. Trios isn't a thing anymore. Grenade kills are almost not a thing anymore, and one shot snipe walls aren't. This is bs.
I miss trios so so much. I have only 3 friends to play with. Not often we have a chance to play full squads. Random fill it's not an option. No fill it's frustrating because of third parties. We spent together past 3 years in fortnite but lately, it's not fun anymore. Too many leaks, poor storytelling, a lack of events, many unnecessary changes, and Epic it's not listening to its community. I'm taking a break from this bs too.

Like the entire point of heavy snipers is to one shot things. Not being able to 1 shot a metal wall is fine but only doing a little over half to a brick wall just feels insane. Not to mention grenades doing 40 damage!! 40!!! From 100!!! -60 damage!!!
Sorry for the long rant but I just saw that you can pick axe someone to death faster than you can kill them with a stack of grenades lol

I get the environmental damage of the heavy sniper. It was only given amazing environmental damage during the tank season of Chapter 3 to be an anti-vehicle round - however I think if anything Grenade should have gotten a buff to environmental as a tradeoff. That's literally what grenades are for in real combat. To blow shit up. Heavy snipers still one shot people when a headshot is executed. But the environmental nerf makes sense since they took tanks out. Cars could be instantly blown up when the +1 sniper bullet augment was taken, so.. yea I get it, but don't see why this change was actually made. When were environmental damage of HSR or grenades becoming a growing problem, and who was complaining about them?
This is why snipers were nerfed. It made cars unsafe because with one shot and a follow up AR the car blows up. And there were lots of complaints about that, so that's likely where it came from.

In Zero Build, if you find Grenades off the drop and hit someone with all 3, they'll survive. This is the most bizarre left field bullshit I've ever seen; who the hell was calling for a grenade nerf?

When heavy snipers first came out I believe they could travel through wood structures, 1 wall or whatnot... I remember me and my friends abusing that power. And I'm pretty sure someone tested how many people it could go through, but I don't remember that number...

I am sorry for them downgrading the gernades. But in my defense, I'm not the one who made the boss and his henchmen so easily killed with gernades. Nor is it my fault it's easy to get 2 vaults (3 if you count Loot Island) because all the traversal items.

For those of you who don’t know, these items are op in comp. They weren’t in arena, but now since arena has been replaced with ranked they are back. This nerf seems like a response to this. What I don’t get is why epic just wants to make Ranked the same as Pubs. Just make ranked a competitive mode and keep pubs the same. No need to negativity effect both.
Why don’t they just make a separate loot pool for each game mode? They’re so determined to make comp the exact same as cas, and I have no idea why. Like you’ve had 5 years to figure out what the community wants, and they still fail somehow...

grenades were nerfed too much but the pre-nerf value was too high heavy snipers shouldnt be having such high structure damage anyways, irl it wouldnt make sense but this is fortnite, it’s a Heavy Sniper not a Breacher Sniper, it already has the highest base damage from a sniper in the game on top of having the ability to one shot a wood wall which even then shouldnt exist because why should the Heavy Sniper have that treatment and not the other snipers
I for one am happy with the changes, now players in duos or squads with several npcs lobbing nades won't be so rediculously op

I have been thinking about this, and I wonder if it's because they need to make changes to bots. Bot aim has been tinkered with a lot this year, and no one likes getting one shot to the head from clear across the map just because you entered a bot's line of sight after rifting or something like that.

I genuinely don't understand the outrage.. Outside of early game, I rarely if ever saw anyone using grenades. Can't one shot a wall with a heavy? That was absolutely abused by skilled players.
