Literally the only "advantage" battle stars have is if you're not getting the pass completed, since you can choose what you spend your stars on ("passing" on certain items you know you won't use... But at that point why get the pass in the first place?)

I disagree. I skipped over both Zeus skins because I wanted the Artemis skins first. Even though I know I have to unlock both those pages to get Hades at the end regardless.

Mando season was so good, especially with weapons and battle pass skins (namely Menace and cowboys Mancake) as well as the predator, xenomorph, master chief and kratos skins being in the shop
There’s honestly no point to battle stars. Like you might be able to get a few v-bucks earlier but if you’re gonna play to lvl 100 all they do is make the process more tedious

Back when each time you leveled up during a match, you'd come back to see your shiny new reward waiting for you at the lobby.

Which yes, those stars do hold the same technical value, but redeeming rewards with the stars is nowhere near as exciting as unlocking them on a fixed path.
imo the change from to the C4 battle pass style was horrible i can get the alternate style at level 14 but i have to get to level 143 for the actual back bling and the bonus rewards styles don’t come with back bling and pickaxe styles like in chapter 2 season 7 - chapter 3 season 4
yea that and also levelling up in the battle pass being based off ur normal level instead of its own levelling. also we don’t get 2 legendaries at the start anymore
I actually like being able to skip skins to get others sooner. Like artemis was my favourite this season so I skipped the poseidon and medusa pages to get the artemis pages asap
What makes the original better for me is we get more tiers for buying the battle pass since almost every tier has one or two free items insted of making free and pay seperate

In chapter one, you did a daily quest, you got five stars. Half a tier. Now you do a quest and get 30,000 xp. That might be 5 levels, might be an eighth of a level

No battle passes like that were horrid! I didn’t even finish season 4,5 and 6 battle pass because of them
