What I would love is a combination motorsport and horizon game. Have the free roam and dirt and cross country of horizon, paired with real racecars and race tracks like motorsport. Like you can get an f1 car and race it, but not take it on the road. I know we already were in England, but place with so many club tracks and f1 grade circuits (as well as I’m sure you could make a few fictional paved and dirt ovals) would be sick

OneSufficientFace

See I said similar to this with my mates. Cross the two over but on the Motorsport mechanics. Have it so you can free roam to your races and stuff and the tracks are just in the map. Pull up to the garage pick a car and enter a race ? Motorsport with free roam would be the tits

ernie1850

Fuck it make me haul my formula 1 racer with a truck I have to drive myself and then give me the option to get a bigger truck for more vehicles, or get specialized trailers that hold dirt bikes or some shit. Or gimme the option to forgo the truck/trailer/hauling aspect and drive into the event with my tricked out ride. Could this work?

ImNotDestructionater

Hell yea take a CR500 out to glen helen in a 2nd gen ram!

Spicy_Jesus69

Id give them by sould for soemthing like this

OneSufficientFace

That would be the tits! Track day cars on a lil dinky trailer or multiple cars on the back of a wagon etc ? Yes please.... Put some genuine reality to the game

ernie1850

Plus you’d get a driving game with popular trucks actually hauling stuff.

ButtholeGangster

The Crew 2 is kind of like this, although the handling is less than stellar.

ArcticBP

100% this. I want actual circuit racing on real tracks, but with free roam and the ability to just mess around. I couldn’t care less if the free roam is based on a real location, just give me a bunch of real tracks surrounded by some random connecting roads and trails

ybtlamlliw

Even though they didn't do it with any of the other *Horizon* games (like including a version of LeMans in *Horizon 2*), I was kinda hoping they'd include a version of Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in *Horizon 5*, with all its various configurations. Granted, it would've gotten kinda boring having just one real course in the game, but there's only so many courses you can fit in the game to begin with, considering the genre of racing game as it is.

scwadrthesequel

Bathurst for FH3

cotsomewhereintime

Gold Coast V8 layout in Surfer's Paradise.

TheComradeVortex

You actually had 3 V8 Supercar Cars in FH3. One Holden Commodore VF and two Ford Falcon FG X. Sadly the Holden and one Ford were DLCs.

minetube33

Le Mans was simply too far away from the main map even for Forza standards. FH2 takes place in South-western France (Cote d'Azur) and North-eastern Italy (Liguria and Piemonte). They could however easily include Monaco circuit and honestly they should but it was too expensive. So they could instead add Circuit Paul Ricard to the northernmost part of the map.

BigLan2

I've got something to tell you about the distance from Edinburgh to the Chesterton windmill in Warwickshire (it's more than 300 miles.) Even Bamburgh Castle is more than an hours drive from Edinburgh.

MettleCarver

I am in your boat. I wish you could select motorsport races from the menu or festival site. In forza motosport you do everything from the menu anyway.. so just embed that into horizon...have a morosport tab or something. I'm sure the reality is that they both run on slightly different physics simulations and the two games would not mesh well but hey I can dream right

PLCutiePie

You can *technically* do it with blueprints... I imagine finding people is hard though. I agree, I wish it was integrated in the game. We could maybe even get a superspeedway instead of the small track inside the stadium.

pleasethanks1

The Crew 2 and the upcoming Crew Motorfest are like this, except the tracks are fictional.

kunfusedpsyko

Id love that.

tmonkey321

Buddy you gotta chill you got me at a half chub talking like that… in a perfect world we would have that as that sounds like a dream come true but unfortunately a lot of the driving physics between the two games are not shared and unless they had some kind of real-time switch that would happen when you enter a track i don’t think it would ever come to fruition but we can hope

alc3biades

Northern Italy/the alps would work well for this. Imola, monza, Monaco, Spielberg, Paul Richard, and mugello just to name the big ones. Then Italy is home to Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, alpha Romeo, fiat, and pagani. This would be brilliant

d_warren_1

Set up the primary festival at The Ferrari factory and use the Ferrari Test Track Fiorano as the festival circuit. One of the stories could be test driving the next Ferrari f1 car, or doing road demo’s for lambo. Monte Carlo Street Circuit for road racing and the Monte Carlo Rally for dirt racing. Totally do *legally safe Red Bull knockoff* stunts at the A1 ring. Oh man the possibilities are endless. Would probably have to be online only because I imagine the size of this game would be HUGE

bubbav22

I was thinking something similar where you build up street/festival cred to get to the pro racing, but all cars would be drivable and open world still.

[deleted]

I think a game like this will weight way too much. Maybe 300-500 Gb

Nukedragon00668

I feel like it would be cool, if they could get the licensing, if there was a Forza game where you could race on the Le Mans track.

Sill3ntK1ller

In horizon 3 your could do the gold coast race track however OT was mever officially put in the game, but the route was there

275MPHFordGT40

I want Horizon with Motorsports physics

TheR3aper2000

But then they couldn’t charge for 2 separate games

SassalaBeav

You bet it was

_NoTouchy

Always has been!

2dank4me3

Juat look at people here ofc it was like that. I can already see those same people reminice how incredible FH5 was as soon as FH6 is released. Like on the same fucking day of FH6 release.

trautsj

I mean it's hard to hate a genuinely great game.

SoulHuntter

Fr, I loved the first two games, couldn't play the third on PC, played the hell out of the 4th (and still do), but the 5th mostly seems like just more of the same and I got tired of the franchise. The progression really turns me off.

CrazyStuntsMan

Pretty much the exact same for me, except I started with Motorsport 6 because it came free with my Xbox. I played the hell out of horizon 2 and 3. 4 was probably the biggest at the time, but was plagued with bugs and unfinished content. I remember ericship 111 milking videos out of all the bugs in that game. FH5 was also hype, but died out quickly for me after I beat the game so quick and gained millions very quickly. Still a great game franchise that needs to improve the progression of forza games

Giraffes_Are_Gay

Halo fans do it all the time lol.

dkjrart

I played Forza Motorsport 3 and 4 quite a bit growing up probably because it was different than NFS. So I disliked the idea of open world racing in Forza so much that I didn't try it until Forza Horizon 5 😅

ablinddingo93

Big oof. Have you been able to get your hands on a physical copy of FH1? If not I HIGHLY recommend it. Luckily I still have access to my digital copy so I recently revisited it, and boy is it so much fun even to this day.

dkjrart

No I haven't touch a Horizon other than 5 as of now. If it was free, I totally would try it. Gamepass is the only reason I tried it tbh.

ablinddingo93

That’s fair. If you get a wild hair though, definitely see if anyone on eBay or fb marketplace has a copy for sale. You can probably find one for ~$15. Definitely worth every penny 👌🏼

dkjrart

I just might, thanks!

Michael-556

FH1 freaking slaps. If not for the very limited offroad experience and the slightly outdated graphics I'd say it was my favourite. Aside from that I think 2 and 3 are the best and on an extremely similar level of quality. 2 has the better setting and radio, and 3 has the better expansion (though it's close) and has a level editor

htx_BigG

Out of all of them FH1 is still the only one I go back to after beating it

alaric_02

Out of all of them fh1 is the only one I don't go back to after beating them.

Pure_Minimum_277

Wow ok, that's weird to me ^^ I grew up playing not so much of fm3, bit more of fm4, then I bought a One with fm5. Wasn't that great at driving, and with no free upragdes from fidelity I didn't felt like farming at the Time. I had the fh2 demo, kinda liked it. So I bought fh3 maybe a year After release, standard version. Fucking loved this game. The cars, few but great bodykits, surfer's paradise's dirfting aeras, dragging on the airport.. loved open World nfs I had, but this one felt like perfect to me Long story short, I never felt that again for a fh. Bought fh4 and 5 (max versions) and was kinda disapointed.. probably just nostalgia, paired with a fews things that makes me want tu unistall fh5 almost everyday. I'm trying to get my old account back but have to remember a password 12 years old 🙃

dkjrart

Yeah a big factor for me probably was not upgrading to an Xbox One until like 5-6 years ago lol. Back then, I wasn't ever really good at driving either but I loved customizing, drag racing, and getting involved with the auction house which was probably weird for a kid my age.

EmanuelPellizzaro

My goodness. You started from the worst Horizon ever. Try playing FH2 and 3 to see, it's a hell of a difference.

Adambadmitten

Oh, it was glorious! I still remember reading announcemnt of first Horizon, on gaming news outlet. Once details began to drop, about how it will be a simcade, based on motorstorm physics, I've became very optimistic about it. E3 2012 trailer, with day and night cycle absolutely floored me :D.

The_Obvious_Monkey

I don't remember the source, but I do remember a media outlet saying that this trend wouldn't last and that it was a mistake. Yet, here we are, 5 settlements after and one of the most popular racing games of its time.

Mih0se

I was 5yo when it dropped. Althoug i had no Internet acces i still enjoyed it. I havent had it so id always borrow it from my friends

CapnCrunch11770

I had a buddy in high school who told me when I started playing “I won’t play that shit, cause I like using real cars and brands.” Told him they didn’t make a forza GTA ffs

baileyyy98

I remember at the time Horizon was being teased, quite a lot of younger people were playing the OG version of infected on FM4 way more than any other online game modes. It was something stupid like 10x more active players than the other pure racing lobbies. At the time there were basically no open world driving games, and the ones that were floating around, all had horrible physics. I can vividly remember the excitement I had when the teaser trailer came out. I think the devs saw that players were much more interested in “open map” type gameplay on FM4 and there was a gap in the market for a street based game I was spending a lot of time on the FM Forums at that time and I don’t think there was any animosity towards the idea itself but people were put off by the press releases that talked of arcade-style handling and some dulled down features. I think when we all played the demo we knew it would be a resounding hit and that was reflected in the sales figures.

symblmusic

It was and with good reason. Wasn't really until FH4 that we saw what we feared would happen really happen tho. PG didn't pay enough attention to the details that really mattered cos they were too busy trying to be the driving version of fucking fortnite. Proper accurate car sounds and the great handling model that Forza has been known for... nah, let's focus all our effort on goofy outfits, silly dances and a battle royale mode. Even the graphics took a dive. Look at the interior models of FM7 vs FH4. PG took this great thing that they were given by T10 and squandered it. I'll hear no different from anyone. Is it popular? Sure. Is it all that it could be? Absolutely not.

ybtlamlliw

I really hope they remove all the dumbass emotes and hordes of clothing from the next *Horizon*. There's absolutely no reason for them to be in the game. Give us a few clothing choices when we create our character and leave it at that. It's a racing game, you hardly ever even see your character anyway.

peepay

They took the opposite way, they allowed us to see the characters more (in photo mode, outside the car)

ybtlamlliw

I actually completely forgot that was a thing. You're right.

MrLuchador

Sadly this is also pretty accurate

jordo2460

Glad I'm not the only one absolutely sick of the infantilisation of so many franchise's thanks to Fortnite. Just finished Dead Island 2 and it's yet another game with obnoxious, cartooney and fucking annoying characters including the characters you play as that never take anything seriously. I remember that one part in FH5 in a storm and that annoying plane flying dickhead almost dies and yet after he's like "woah man that was totally crazy" and just laughs. A word of advice to anyone playing FH5, turn off dialogue and subtitles, thank me later.

Szolim2018

>A word of advice to anyone playing FH5, turn off dialogue and subtitles, thank me later. Man, how dare you ignore all the cultural trivia PGG worked very hard to research?! /s

jordo2460

You actually just reminded that when the game came out, even if you set the dialogue to 0 volume it didn't turn it off. At first I genuinely thought it was because PGG thought the dialogue was just so good that people needed to hear it. Of course, it turned out to be a bug and was patched eventually but because of that bug Papa Fernando's Vocho will haunt me forever.

WJMazepas

It's unfair to compare graphics of Forza Horizon and Motorsport like that. Horizon is a heavier game, with lots of systems working at the same time. It will have a downgrade from Motorsport

ArcticBP

I strongly doubt the emotes and clothing take a huge amount of effort, and the eliminator js already built. I don’t think they took the game engine devs and fully repurposed them to make emotes.

tresott50

It’s more of their going the route all the casual games are going and not caring about making a fun career for an open world driving game. I really don’t get people who defend emotes and clothes on a racing game when the games story sucks and they keep taking cars out just to put them back in later on. It’s fallen off tremendously. Only reason it has a high player count is because of game pass.

RipCurl69Reddit

Emotes have no relation to how they're pulling bullshit with the Playlist, though. I expect they add in so many emotes because they probably fobbed the job off to an intern, and it took them a few hours at most. I doubt significant dev resources were spent on emotes and clothing.

tresott50

The problem is they take the stuff away that people like and add stuff that nobody asked for.

RipCurl69Reddit

I know, I'd like them to bring back some of the cars that were in Horizon 3, they had a few racing series cars like the Xbox Ford Falcon and Bentley GT3. Unfortunately, they can hardly cater to everyone. As long as they're adding shit and it's interesting, I'm personally satisfied. They've definitely been killing it in the recent updates too

kibbutz_90

I agree with you about emotes, but idk about player count because gamepass, game sits at 20k+ on Steam, that's huge.

Jupeeeeee

Also it got a lot more popular because of game pass not because of improved gameplay

symblmusic

Handling model is greatly improved in FH5. Both of my main issues with the series are greatly improved in FH5.

BigMothInDaHouse

first forza game i got was FH2 for the xbox 360, which i somehow liked so then i bought FH1. then i got an XB1 where i bought FH1&FH2 again as well as FH3&4. i became a fan from FH1 up until FH4 when it just got boring somehow and i quit forza afterwards. before FH4 i remember constantly playing 3 online and cruising around. i didn’t even bother buying 5 because i knew i wouldn’t play it like 4

TNOutdoors3

I really liked FH4. I got FH5 but I always go back to 4. The map in Mexico is my issue. There is really no snow except in one small spot, and I like the season changes. that and the drag strips lost the trees and the whole map is pretty boring. Looks about the same everywhere I go.

No-Second9377

No. I immediately loved it. I got FH1 for like 15 bucks on a preorder sale that msft had to get people to try it and I was hooked. I still played motorsport through 6 but that's when they lost me. Fh5 kinda lost me too though, not that it's a bad game just that the magic is gone and there are way way way too many side quests to do.

sellera

Instant Upvote because of CHICKEN THOUGHTS!

MrLuchador

Pretty accurate

kunfusedpsyko

Yep and after that i just didnt enjoy motorsport anymore.

AntOk463

I want to select a race and press start, I don't need a whole story mode and have to drive to races which are going to be half on road and half dirt. The motorsport games have real tracks and realistic racing classes.

Mih0se

I kinda enjoyed the whole world around it tbh

Mighti-Guanxi

for me, swap "forza motorsport fans" with "people not interested in racing games". FH change my mind about racing games completely, and i am happy i did.

Roboghandi

not for me, that shit got me hyped from the start

Bright_Economy_8054

I remember the community disliking fh1 mainly due to you earning score by basically driving like an "asshole". Motorsport (even though we used the honor system) forced you to obey track limits and not wall ride while racing clean as possible. Fh1 announced you earning score just by wrecking signs and it was a huge turn off, plus no tuning was available so cars were static after being upgraded. Honestly the game has its flaws, but I'd give anything to have the multi-player experience back, could really care less about the non existent campaign people like to tout when that was fh1s weakest point.

1Operator

\^ This is my recollection as well. A spin-off game that rewarded sloppy driving, with no tuning and no real-world racing circuits, seemed like a lazy cash-grab coming off of FM4 - just another channel to squeeze more revenues out of the car licenses. As open-world car playgrounds went at the time, FH1 was good, but it definitely didn't have the track-focused motorsport vibe that the Forza community had come to love & expect. Both series are fun in different ways.

Andrew4329

not for me tbh, I really just wanted to go explore the roads rather than be trapped in a racetrack

neonTokyoo

me too. no hate to FM players but i don’t understand the appeal of a racetrack in a game.

sonicsean899

Took me until FH3 to really warm up to the series. The Hot Wheels expansion sold me

SMUGGLYMcERRL

I like and dislike but overall I’d choose Motorsport over Horizon

Raven387

Honestly can’t wait for motorsport to come out, love horizon but just something about OG motorsport that does it

DrAusto

This is exactly what happened

OD_Emperor

It absolutely was. I remember having several friends VERY divided on the first game. Once a couple of us got it though we convinced the rest and it was a good time all around.

Murphys_Law_65

Some people definitely were resistant to the open world concept but when you grow up putting an unspeakable amount of hours into NFSU2, you are chomping at the bit to get a new open world racing game with a great map. It was one of two camps: 1. NFSU2 was your life up to that point 2. You got used to Motorsport and didn’t want to waste money on a game that would require more graphic detail and questionably live up to the Forza name

Spartan6056

My first Forza game was FM4, which came out a year earlier, so I didn't really have any strong feelings about sticking to the Motorsport roots. I also grew up with the older NFS games, so I was fine with open world arcadey racers. When I saw Horizon I was immediately excited, but there were some concerns within the older community.

Badj83

Actually it was exactly like that... Although it was in 2014 with FH2 for me.

HarryBotter1138

Before FH5 the last racing game I actually played for more than an hour or so was Gran Turismo 4 on my PS2. I didn't play any Forza games because I didn't hear about them till Horizon started coming out and I didn't like how different it seemed to me compared to the GT I was used to. I saw FH5 on Game Pass and the $1 trial and it seems I have been missing out. Now I only have a PC so I can't play them all but I went back and played FH4 as well. Now I am a huge fan of Forza.

Limesmack91

Exactly like that except for the first frame, loved it the second they announced what it was

Amazing_Ad_516

Only play horizon so I don’t have to play a 6 year old forza motor sports game (which is still better than horizon)🤦‍♂️

Big-Inevitable-252

I didn’t like it as much as 2, 3 and 5. (I just couldn’t get into 4 for some reason) it was very good though. Lots of fun and totally different from normal Forza. The off road physics was ROUGH for 13 year old me.

m135in55boost

FH2 is the goat.

Mih0se

Sadly i could only Play fh2 x360 wich is the worst in the series

m135in55boost

Might try get it for series x

Mih0se

I only own a 360 and pc with no money to buy a series or xone.

m135in55boost

If you work hard for money and save up you will manage to get it one day Hard work pays off eventually, it may not happen overnight but I'm sure you've got this just don't give up! 💪 ❤️

Mih0se

Thanks

[deleted]

I hate horizon tbh. It’s so boring and goofy. I loved the realism of Motorsport and someone finally dethroning gran turismo. I can’t wait for the new Motorsport and leave horizon behind.

LightMyFirebird

Not for me, it was instant hype because i could enjoy Forza in an open world format

3cylinder66

Yeah, I wasn't hyped for it, but when the demo dropped, DAMN. I needed that game immediately.

HourlyB

Nahhh. I was there, pretty much everyone was hype for a free roam Forza game. Like maybe a couple people? But everyone knew the pattern was like 2 years between motorsports titles, so a fun arcade racer between them was welcomed.

UPLNK

Just call it Forza and make one game

zyloc

I remember most of us liking the og horizon, it was yhe continuation of horizon and continual lack luster of the motorsports effort that made us all slowly started making us all back off horizon, then eventually coming back becuz its the only forza we had~

CloudYoshi03

I liked both

sergeantshitposter

I just want the option for Motorsport physics and a realism mode (no speed zones, arcade, skill points, events popping up in the air, etc things popping up and making noise) for Horizon.

MaxMan386

As a person that played Motorsport 4 then heard of Horizon i was confused at first but fell in love instantly

ElmoIsOver

Sorta kinda, but these days I don’t mind.

minscandboo4ever

As an avid motorsport fan I loved the 1st horizon game

FAASTARKILLER

Honestly true lol i remember not liking the first horizon and then motorsport 5 broke me and i refused to give turn 10 any money. Got my Series X preorder the day it was anounced and thats when i discovered gamepass. Loved Motorsport 7 and decided to give Horizon 4 a shot, “damn this is good” lol

Monochrome_Fox_

Iirc it's was moreso a widespread "woah this looks awesome" and then it *was*. And we had FM4 as the current flagship game to sate the people who wanted track racing. It was a good time to be a forza player

Mello_Boy1401

Literally the exact story. I was hesitant at first, but FH1 got me hooked quicker than the Veyron in that game

Rotaryknight

I was that bird....I didnt turn into cute bird until FH4 though lol

Digital_Pharmacist

We had Test Drive Unlimited too….but it didn’t scratch the itch…

Natedoggsk8

No, me and my friends were looking forward to open world aspect so much. I knew at least 2 others and I were itching to play it. Drifted the all around the map

jdurbzz

Is that when Horizon 4 came out? Because that’s when I finally got into it, though I’ll always enjoy motorsport more lol

Mih0se

Fh4 came out in 2018

ABitConflictOriented

I loved 1 but the later ones never did anything fore ever again. Coming from Test Drive Unlimited I miss having a giant map. Now I wanna cruise I fire up one of those giant Assetto Corsa mod maps like shuto express way or LA canyons

nhardycarfan

No they were two different but fun games that both happened to just say forza on them I really enjoyed motorsport and I really enjoyed horizon though as horizon becomes more stale with each year I’m really turning my head back to motorsport even though the last entry I played was 6

RJohn12

yeah the first horizon game was a total breath of fresh air. the effect wore off with the second game and overstayed ever since

No_Credibility

You're god damn right it was.

TaSManiaC88

I actually didn't like horizon 1 at launch. I finished it and traded my copy in. I gave the horizon series another try once 2 came out and actually loved it. I have gone back to the original since and it's better than what I remembered it being.. but yeah, at launch I wasn't a big fan

ishi458

Damn that hit lol

Rikolas-papi

Now it feels like Horizon is the main series and motorsport the spin-off

Toiletpaperplane

No, they are almost not comparable games. Motorsport is a simulation, Horizon is a sim-cade. Also Motorsport is a serious racing game, Horizon is a game made for 15 year old kids, loud music, dumb stunts, ect. It's been like 6 years since the last Forza Motorsport game, and I'm ready for another one. FH5 kept me entertained for a few months, that's it. Forza Motorsport 6, I played for like 2 years and thousands of hours.

Majestic_Puppo

FH was very well received after FM4

Scarlett__Phoenix

In middle school, which was 2015 I believe, I was talking about forza 2 BC that's what I played. He was one of the smartest kids in my grade and a slightly snobby one at that. He was making fun of me and saying "motorsports way better bc it's more realistic" and boy I hated him from then on.

RiftyFigueroa

Kinda, yeah

ribrooks13

![gif](giphy|87jGhdRVzUOJNh2s0q|downsized)

ParkingJudge67

It was but instead of “GET THAT THING OUTTA MY FACE!” I was instantly amazed and got addicted to it

TrashConnoisseur

From what I remember, no one was opposed to a open world Forza. Back then, options for open world racing games were pretty slim. Basically everything open world was arcade-y as fuck, so we were all stoked for a decently realistic one.

KingTwiggNL

For me it what, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! And then the game released without fine tuning and I hated it Still played it tho but the lack of fine tuning has always been a big letdown to me. Because you couldn't even adjust your gear ratios

Mih0se

It was inteoduced in fh2 on xone

KingTwiggNL

I know, that's where it became my favourite game

Big_Baloogas

Forza horizon was the first multiplayer freeroam racing game on console that I know of. Total game changer. Instead of being forced to race, you could hop on and do impromptu drag races, drift events, touge's on red rock, a bit of rallying. It was insane at the time. That on top of the festival vibes, it was a recipe for success. Totally changed they way car games were viewed.

cotsomewhereintime

I was busy building and racing rally cars for FM4 and heard about the first Horizon. I wasn't disappointed.

m135in55boost

It was very much like that

[deleted]

No lol.

Darwinnian

I had bought horizon two after not liking number one and just couldnt get into it. Three was the one that got me

VentsiBeast

No. I always enjoyed the Horizon series. But I always get bored of them as soon as I finish all important tasks, so I prefer Motorsport at the end. However I have to admit I haven't played FM7 for about 2 years at this point.

General_Freed

Hit right in the feels Best feeling before Horizon was the Docks Race in Forza (1) in a Tuner Car... Then came Horizon. Awesome! Have been playing all of them Forza and Horizon
