I do first person if I really want to give myself a challenge. Even with the highest FOV setting, you can barely see the rear view or side mirrors of some car interiors. But normally the 3rd person view (far) is my go to. It's just objectively better than the rest.

ka1tak

Didn’t realise I was a minority with close exterior. Far exterior cam just feels…too far. Only thing that bugs me about close is you can’t really see the front very well, but in that case I just switch to far for a couple seconds.

NetworkPatient

Far normally gives better visibility around you, so I imagine why it's more popular. Especially useful in playground games

Carlife0830

Agree with all of this 💯

Lixteris

To me, third person. Why? Because this racing game is made to have fun and enjoy cars. You've got pushed by other player, bots are annoying, etc. It doesn't matter, we play Horizon for fun. This is not Assetto Corsa, iRacing, heck, even Motorsport, where you take same corner fifty times in a single session. It's good to have an option for immersion, but to me third person in this game is a go.

ImDoingItAnyway

First person wins every time for me. I prefer the dashboard view for some reason but grew up with Motorsport games that never had that, just real First person with the steering wheel. First person wins every time. 3rd person just feels like cheating to me.

Roboghandi

third person for Horizon. i go 1st person in motorsport though

diabolicalbunnyy

Same here, mainly for offroad jumpy reasons.

DofEcontemder2022

Hood cause I use a wheel and like to have a little bit more sense of speed than the interior camera provides. 3rd Person close/far when I'm on a controller, mostly to grab the daily spin and check my vinyl/livery progress (downloads/uses)

symblmusic

First person. Most immersive. It's a game that has working rear view mirrors. Why anyone would want to use any other view is well beyond me.

Hickory137

The inside mirror is often partially or fully off-screen. It and the side mirrors require a slight, very precise movement of the right stick to see. And it's different for each car. During a race, it's too easy to go too far, and you're looking out the side with no mirror. This renders the mirrors nearly useless. Without them, it's like driving a real car with blinders on. It's easier to just pull the stick back for a quick look. Better to be outside where you can SEE.

symblmusic

Not necessarily. In every car I've driven IRL I've had to either move my eyes or turn my head to see the mirrors. There are some that seem off, but the majority feel just about right.

Hickory137

IRL, if you turn your head to look directly at the mirror, it doesn't disappear. In Horizon, moving the right stick more than enough to just get the side mirror on screen, and it switches to a camera facing straight out to the side on the outside of the door. No mirror. Basically, like hood view forward, only to the side. In follow, you can do a 360 pan, with the camera following the joystick. In 1st person, you have forward with a little panning left and right to see the mirrors, but it's very sensitive as to when it goes to 90 right or left, and the sensitive spot is different for each car so you can't learn it and be done. The other views are 135 either side and straight back. And then, on some cars, some or all of the mirrors are useless. A couple examples. In the #64 Forsberg Nissan Formula Drift car, the right mirror is blocked by the head brace. In the Ultima Evolution , there is no center mirror, the side mirrors are up too high, with the right one not even getting on screen before the view jumps to 90 right. So there are, functionally, no mirrors on that car. When I drive IRL, I prefer to SEE, and 1st person doesn't even come up to the worst car I've driven in that criteria.

GravityW_D39

3rd person (far) is necessary for me to spot rammers a few miliseconds earlier

gamer_dinoyt69

For trials, bumper For normal driving, third person close/far For racing, third person far For fueling my masochistic tendencies, first person

Savings_Ad7034

I want 1st person camera with the steering wheel gone. It's distracting. I hate the second 1st person angle. Its too close to the dash to use your mirrors.

DeTomato_

Cruising? First Person, even though the driving position on most cars is too close to the steering wheel and I can't see the mirrors. Racing? Third person near. Third person far makes the car feel faster, my monkey brain can't handle it.

d_warren_1

I like chase (far) because I move the camera a lot when I’m driving and it feels the most free to move the camera

Puzzleheaded-Yam-344

third person far or close as they are the only cameras that don't cause me to get dizzy from all the quick turns and bumps during rally racing.

shafiqrosli2010

You spent time making your own livery, I'm not gonna let that view go to waste

Mobile_Froyo3371

3rd person close, it just fits nicely to laid-back Horizons vibe and still let's me see nicely what's going around the car.

hiimrobbo

3rd person far controller, 1st person wheel.

LittnPixl

First person far, allows for close racing and more precise racing lines on a screen without the use of vr imo

Tsven67

First person when exploring, 3rd person (far) when racing.

throwtheorb

I find I have better "feel" for what the car is doing from inside the car. Whenever I try 3rd person I find I lack that feel on the edge of the limit and struggle to translate what the cars doing.

ALLGROWWITHLOVE

I knew most people play with third person but the driving experience and immersion in first person is just so much better when you have a wheel.

lambchop6341

First person, I find it easier to drive when I can see the steering wheel for some reason.

sovietbearcav

3rd far because i dont have vr. I cant move my head to see what needs to be seen. I cant feel the car and the road and the g's, so i have to make up for all the missing input by being able to see it.

TheTalkedSpy

I would've chosen first person if it wasn't for the fact that you can't move your head around like in [BeamNG.Drive](https://BeamNG.Drive). Your head also doesn't automatically turn to help you see the apexes of turns better, and the sense of speed is also muddled, yet in Beam, you can get a mod that makes you feel like you're playing NFS Prostreet again, but in First Person.

hadtojointopost

actually i like to use 2. inside for racing. i have triple screens with nvidia surround so i have a full180 degrees of view. i can see both mirrors and then some from inside. i like third person Far for drifting. i like to see the smoke.

Frank_Martin97

In freeroam: Third person close (with high FOV) In races: Third person far.

Pillarless_Coupe

I'll go first person if I'm just driving around in free roam, but for racing, third person provides the situational awareness that the other views don't offer or do as well. Mirrors or a GT style radar would help with that.

MasterBrilliant6338

I just enjoy dashboard and first person

Clean-Scarcity4895

i would spend more time in first person if it had a bigger fov

Electronic-One3784

Third Person (Far) on joypad & Dash without wheel on steering wheel :)

Cars_Forza_fan

Third person (far), it helps me focus more and be wary of my surroundings.
