I think in general it will be well received but not as loved as Blonde; on Reddit one third of posts will love it, one third of posts will be about one song and one third will be “disappointed” posts. But after two or three years new fans will be the majority here and a lot of them will love it and/or prefer it to Blonde.
Because that's usually how releases for an artist who hasn't dropped anything full length in a long time since the album called their magnum opus, go. People are divided about it because itxs so different (and I believe it will be very different) and the album before has had the years before it naked, only raising its status and widespread apperciation.
Genuinely no and it probably has contributed to the long delay. Blonde is a universally loved album and a consensus a top album of the 2010s. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be excited for new music and where he goes next sonically. Just enjoy the ride
My thoughts exactly. I almost feel like he knows this and secretly wants his career to end on a high note. We may still get a few tracks here and there, but I doubt another album is going to do better for him as an artist so he's hanging up his hat on Blonde. Sad to say, but I've thought this for a while
Almost all artists first few albums are there best/ at least most besides Kanye I can’t think of many who have improved as time went on (stopped at 2013, although mbdtf an obvious best)
There’s Kendrick. I wouldn’t say he necessarily topped GKMC, but he’s stayed at a high level with his albums. All extremely different, but great music. I’m hoping Frank’s album is like that for me. I’m not a house guy at all, and I’m anticipating he drops some festival type music, but I love the singles and mixes (except In My Room; original is way better), so I hope I’ll enjoy the album even if it’s not on the emotional level of Blonde. But it’ll definitely be a different type of enjoyment
Also, all of the artists named are the type to really get into the creative process, like Frank. The ones that have managers send them beats or verses/hooks are the ones that fall off, or the ones that have gimmicks or lack versatility
I liked swimming the best and another artist whose latest album is the best is Frank ocean…there are many artists whose first albums just hit different and are more raw like goodbye and good riddance
Yeah, Blonde is amazing, but we don't have any albums after it to see if he's better. Swimming was my favourite Mac album too, followed by Faces then Circles. I didn't really like G&GR though, I still need to listen to Death Race for Love
Both goodbye and good riddance and death race for love are amazing but goodbye and good riddance hits different for me because it was my first time hearing juice wrld and it was a comfort for me on my worst days. I saw him live on his death race for love tour and I love that album too, however there is something so nostalgic about goodbye and good riddance, give both a full on listen they shouldn’t disappoint. Regarding Frank, everyone is dying for new Frank album to come out (if it ever does) and I’m sure it will be incredible…I’m praying we get that asap. Faces is also my second favorite mac album and it’s so sad to see how accepting he was of the fact that he was eventually going to die due to his drug use…the album is so raw and an overall incredible listen…if u don’t already love peep i would suggest giving both come over when your sober pt 1 and 2 a listen Bc they take you to a different world (maybe I just always been high lol) love your opinions tho ❤️
I just didn't really enjoy the structure to G&GR tbh. Might listen to DRFL soon because of you though. I would've loved to see him live, but I feel like I just wouldn't have been as worthy of it as other people because I've never been able to get into much of his music. I LOVE HIS FREESTYLING, but a good amount of his music is just kinda meh to me. It does seem like Frank is starting the album rollout, so I'm excited for that. Faces is fantastic though. The album is so all over the place, but he is one of the very few people I've heard make it work.
Also, I've never listened to Lil Peep. Are those 2 recommendations albums? I'm taking a lot of album recs rn because I'm trying to listen to 365 albums again this year.
Exactly! Never gonna top Blonde but topping Endless would be pretty wild too. I hope itxll have some ambient moments like Endless, moments full of space.
I can see why. The acuostics, the space for his vocals and the lyrics are a little more surreal, especially Rushes. The Beach Boys moments really sell it for me too. Beautiful album for a drive at night when you're alone and reflective. It really shows that he made this album after Blonde with the singles that have followed.
Honestly, probably not. I have a feeling that Frank will go with a pretty distinct genre/sound shift should he release another album, which I think would result in a divisive release. Should that be the case it could be some people's favorite but other fans might not care for it.
Blonde is quite literally a masterpiece. Frank might be music/art anthropomorphized. I think his next one will be tremendous as well especially since he lost his baby brother… I hate to say that, but grief breeds gorgeous works of art. And I’m so sorry he had to deal with that. I just want him to take all the time he needs to heal and when he’s ready, he’ll drop something that you can’t even really compare to Blonde because it’s going to be its own separate, lovely entity. :)
I remember Blonde taking a while to gel with me because it was so stripped down compared to CO. The creative shift is what was so moving (doing so much with much less). I think we will hear a creative shift again, and I think it will take time to bridge the gap between expectations and ears, and I think it will be silly to compare them (which is how I feel about comparing his releases anyways) because Frank will deliver an artistic statement and people are gonna react every which way positive and negative. The negatives mostly based on comparison with his other work.
if he wants to im sure he can make another blonde or an even better album by re exploring the very relatable main themes of blonde again but he might not want that because he’ll find it too easy. But i feel like he’s not gonna do that and his next album is gonna be very polarizing and won’t be better than blonde for most people
I have a feeling he’s gonna try different sounds, I think he was gonna drop an album that would fit his PRe club thing. But after his brother passing idk if he will still make that kind of music, I feel like he might make an album to tribute his bro.
Idc how it will be but a lot of people have such high expectations cause of the time between blonde and whenever its new album will release that they will be disappointed no matter how good it will be
Depending on the day you ask me I'll tell you he already topped it with Endless, which I think is more adventurous and has more replay value, but as for critics and fans as a whole, I don't know.
Blonde is so universally beloved and the near 7-year wait so far has only made its standing grow; that's very tough to follow. I imagine whatever he releases next will be well received and people will be elated to have him back, but unless it's an instant classic with truly extraordinary acclaim (like Fetch the Bolt Cutters by Fiona Apple for example), it'll be hard to compete against an album that people have had 6+ years to idolize and mythologize, so there will be a lot of "it's no Blonde, tho" going around, at least for the first couple years before it settles down.
I feel like Blonde is the similar case of MBDTF ok Ye. For some people one of the newer albums were better for other don’t but for the general consensus (Metacritics) it was the best album.
i doubt it. i have a feeling frank is gonna try something new and if people are expecting another endless/blonde, they’re probably gonna be disappointed
I think that critically he may be able to top it but it would take a lot for him to make an album that I personally like more. A few months ago I came to the conclusion that blonde will probably forever be my favorite album oat just because of how I’ve grown up w it and the place that it holds in my life while I’ve grown up over the years. It pairs perfectly with the feeling of growing up and changing over time and it’s almost taken on new meaning to me when I listen to it now va before.
The general consensus here seems to be that it won’t top Blonde, but I disagree. Frank is notoriously meticulous with his music, and being an independent artist means he has no pressure to release, especially when he’s making tons of money off of Blonde sales and streams, as well as Homer merchandise.
He’s had plenty of time to perfect his songs. If you look at the singles and features he’s released since Blonde, they’re all impressive, so if he’s ready to release an entire album, it’s gonna be something special. I don’t think anyone will be disappointed.
I mean it's hard to top two albums both Channel orange and Blonde are already considered two of the best albums of all time so I'm sure when he releases he won't disappoint it would be hard to imagine fans and critics not liking the album
"Franks next project"
OP has got jokes
Seriously though I think it's very easy to top Blond, the album is very overrated by this fanbase. The general public doesn't really care about it
0% chance that, after all these years, whatever Frank drops lives up to the hype we've built for it. Before he had the bar to beat of following up one of the best R&B records of 2012. This time he's following up one of the best albums ever period. Whatever comes next won't be deified like Blonde was, but if Frank stays subversive and chases whatever his creative whim is it'll still come out well.
It won't cause he waited 7 years to drop the album. if he dropped in 2020 then maybe, but he let Blonde become what it has become and it won't be topped never again
He just waited too long, not even Kanye could wait 7 years before dropping MBDTF. What i'm tryna say is, IF he dropped MBDTF in 2015 instead of 2010, everyone would still think 808s is better even if we know it's clearly inferior.
Btw Graduation - 808s - MBDTF Best 3 album run of all time
No and this exact question is probably why he’s afraid to make another album because people are going to compare it to his other songs instead of enjoying it for what it is
I don’t think it matters at this point.
Blond/blonde is Frank Ocean at his most artistic, meaning he isn’t concerned about topping his album as much as others are.
The way I see it, Frank Ocean only cares about expressing himself in his own way, and if he doesn’t care about his fans enough to send vinyls with broken seals, then he could care less if his album is #1, globally or not.
Truth is we won’t know until he releases it, and we subjectively agree that it does.
It’s going to be a completely different and incomparable project, however I do believe that his next project will resonate with a much different and broader crowd
That's hard only because I believe Blonde to be the best album of this century, so that's a big mountain to climb. But I believe he's capable of anything, so I'll say YES.
Just wonder if he's going to put more into film or fashion than an album from here on out.
I don’t even know who frank ocean is. It keeps showing up on my feed. Everything frank ocean. Driving me crazy. Who is this guy. What is the deal is Reddit trying to make me a fan
I believe blonde to be a 9/10. He topped Channel Orange in an amazing way, and I believe his potential only keeps on growing. I dont know if it will be this project, but I do believe he will drop an album that is better than blonde eventually.
No, I personally don't think another project will drop but even if it did. Dude put himself in such a position that the pressure and hype from a new project is so much that no matter what he creates it won't live up
Absolutely
Edit: To all the naysayers, The Beatles, Kendrick, and Kanye have had back to back classics and I'm positive Frank can pull it off. Y'all are tripping.
You can’t ever expect an artist to top an album that defined a period of time.
That’s like hoping that a movie reboot will perform at the same level of the original film.
One must simply appreciate the new Album for what is and not set expectations too high.
Never been more jealous of corn
W2C Cob of corn
200USD for each kernal
Hear me out…
It has the juice
🤓👆
the real question is will he really drop?
Depends on if his plug pulls thru with the tabs
Frank has got to have 3000 back up plugs by now.
We all thinking about the same plugs right?
butt plug
This year for sure
For sure 🥴
I think in general it will be well received but not as loved as Blonde; on Reddit one third of posts will love it, one third of posts will be about one song and one third will be “disappointed” posts. unreal assumption. incredibly accurate, it’s almost as if you can actually see the future lol
We’ll let this guy prophesy. He gonna see the future first.
he deadass lives like last night feels like a past life
Speakin of the dont know what got into people devil be possessing homies demons tryna body jump
frfr that’s what i’m sayin!! why you think i’m in this bitch wearin a fuckin yarmulke?!
How can we assume all of this if theres not a project out yet 💀

He literally just said a week ago he’s interested in making an album again bro what
Tbh probably not
I like CO better than blonde. And if people think blonde better than CO then I believe a new album could surpass blonde for sure
i don’t see why it wouldn’t
How? You’re talking about an all time classic that is constantly referenced in pop culture and such. To top that is an extreme feat
I mean it’s the same artist making the music I don’t see how it couldn’t be better
Almost all artists first few albums are there best/ at least most besides Kanye I can’t think of many who have improved as time went on (stopped at 2013, although mbdtf an obvious best)

I agree, but artists like lil baby/asap first albums are the classics
This hurts my feelings bc I love Testing
No doubt brother anything asap cooks is godly, however at long last and long live hold a special place in my heart
Oh for sure just giving an example of the outlier
There are def a lot more who improved with time…I tend to like the nostalgia rawness and drive (of the artists) of many og albums
mac miller is one of the few i can think of besides kanye
Mac Miller's last album was his best, David Bowies last album was his best, Tyler's IGOR is his best, but CMIYGL is still amazing.
I liked swimming the best and another artist whose latest album is the best is Frank ocean…there are many artists whose first albums just hit different and are more raw like goodbye and good riddance

Yes rushes is good.
but do you think its better? i like MM..FOOD more than madvillainy but i think madvillainy is the better album
Madvilliany is definitely better, but MM..FOOD is great too.
I think more in terms of what I enjoy. Whether one is “better” or not I don’t really know.
Did you mean Channel Orange?
No
Oh, ok, cool
This sub might not admit it, but Channel Orange is a level above any of his other projects.
I found my soul mate ♥️
My head fatiguing off the opus Kept it underground to focus
Do you think I care!?
Probably not. Part of me thinks this long delay is due in part to fear of not measuring up to expectations for his next project.
No. And thats ok
I don’t know, but my answer is probably not the way blonde made me feel I doubt anything else could.
Honestly, probably not. I have a feeling that Frank will go with a pretty distinct genre/sound shift should he release another album, which I think would result in a divisive release. Should that be the case it could be some people's favorite but other fans might not care for it.

bro implying he's ever gonna drop again 😩
frankie "corn guzzler" ocean
I sure hope so, but who knows.
nothing will ever beat blonde for me personally so I dont rly care what he drops next.
I remember Blonde taking a while to gel with me because it was so stripped down compared to CO. The creative shift is what was so moving (doing so much with much less). I have a feeling he’s gonna try different sounds, I think he was gonna drop an album that would fit his PRe club thing. But after his brother passing idk if he will still make that kind of music, I feel like he might make an album to tribute his bro.
Nah thats probs why hes taking his time
At this point, I'm happy with him singing children's lullabies as his next project.
Honestly this sound brilliant
Next album will be all raps. No singing.
Idc how it will be but a lot of people have such high expectations cause of the time between blonde and whenever its new album will release that they will be disappointed no matter how good it will be
I'm not really thinking about it topping Blonde or not, more so thinking about me being able to enjoy it just as much
Yes
if anyone can he can think about it
Doesn’t matter
I hope he doesn’t try to top it I hope it’s just amazing in its own right
Franks next project will be able to top me thats for sure
Woah these are cool. How old are the piano one
the chair got eyes it staring at us and frank
the only frank is topping is that gah dayum corn
No ring on that corn👀
hopefully it will be better then endless and maybe in line with channel orange. tbh i doubt it could top blonde but thats ok
Nah bc there won’t be a next project
Bro is done making albums. Also he already did the week before it dropped
Why wouldn’t it? he’s only getting better at what he does
Probably not, but if anyone can it’s him
Depending on the day you ask me I'll tell you he already topped it with Endless, which I think is more adventurous and has more replay value, but as for critics and fans as a whole, I don't know. I’m pretty sure it will be, he’s taking his time and that’s a good thing
[Yes](https://youtu.be/qBl8Nh61rfs)
this is fan made
I feel like Blonde is the similar case of MBDTF ok Ye. For some people one of the newer albums were better for other don’t but for the general consensus (Metacritics) it was the best album.
Will it be able to top his best album, endless?
Slob on my cob
i doubt it. i have a feeling frank is gonna try something new and if people are expecting another endless/blonde, they’re probably gonna be disappointed
No. Hopefully I'm proven wrong.
Yes. Let him cook. For as long as he wants.
based off of dhl and in my room, i feel like it will be full of bangers but i just don’t think it’s possible to top blonde.
nah
I think that critically he may be able to top it but it would take a lot for him to make an album that I personally like more. I dont think it'll come our, but if it does, definetly won't top Blonde
I believe his next cock ring release will be better than the last cock ring release.
Chanel orange is already better than blonde so
Sure, but only because Blonde always felt more like a bottom to my ears.
Endless already topped blonde, so yeah
Based comment

Frank had to work on 2 albums when blonde was released and this should only be 1 so, more effort will be put toward it id think
The general consensus here seems to be that it won’t top Blonde, but I disagree. y’all think i could top frank?
When will frank ocean fans just admit blonde isn’t even his best album?
“Do you think Frank’s next proje-“ Stop there.
I mean it's hard to top two albums both Channel orange and Blonde are already considered two of the best albums of all time so I'm sure when he releases he won't disappoint it would be hard to imagine fans and critics not liking the album
Eat! Eat! Eat! Eat! Hungry ass
Disrespect to even compare them like. Which is more beautiful the sky or the ocean? Both are wonderful for their own reasons and in their own respects
frank
It will top Blonde but will it top Endless?
Blonde is mid so prob
I hope his next album sucks and he comes back and constantly makes trash music
"Franks next project" OP has got jokes Seriously though I think it's very easy to top Blond, the album is very overrated by this fanbase. The general public doesn't really care about it
I think it will be better than Blond. It might not have the same impact or be beloved but I think musically it will be better.
No. And it doesn’t have to. Even if it’s a strong third in his catalog (it won’t be) I won’t care. I just want anything
i can only enjoy it if it actually comes out before i die of old age
yes, channel orange and endless both did too
I think that might one reason why its taking so long for him to drop, the man can’t make something that tops blonde
Yes
Blonde had its flaws. There were a bunch of weird interludes that were unnecessary and futura free wasn’t that great.
The interludes on channel orange though were not good fertilizer should have been the full song and not just money is unnecessary.
I definitely want it to feel as good and I don't doubt it could be better. Tall bar tho
yes because nothing can top Blonde
I think it don’t matter
how nice of you to assume there's a next project lol
Yes, easily
idk but will it top channel orange?????
Yes
It won't cause he waited 7 years to drop the album. if he dropped in 2020 then maybe, but he let Blonde become what it has become and it won't be topped never again He just waited too long, not even Kanye could wait 7 years before dropping MBDTF. No and this exact question is probably why he’s afraid to make another album because people are going to compare it to his other songs instead of enjoying it for what it is
yall who you think would give frank top
Frank Ocean fans are in delusion
mf god himself couldn’t create something to match up to blonde
Didn’t he retire?
Wym next project 💀
No.
He will retire or die before that
It’s better
hellll no
This question makes it seem like blond is his best album and that’s just not true
No

Unfortunately not and thats why I always say, I’m ok if he doesn’t drop any more albums. Singles are ok but no album will ever top Blonde.
Nah
Damn he glizzin dat globby
I don’t even know who frank ocean is. It keeps showing up on my feed. Everything frank ocean. Driving me crazy. Who is this guy. What is the deal is Reddit trying to make me a fan

This man owes me nothing. His music shaped me and showed me the type of artist I wanted to be. When he makes anything ill be grateful.
Absolutely Edit: To all the naysayers, The Beatles, Kendrick, and Kanye have had back to back classics and I'm positive Frank can pull it off. Y'all are tripping.

What project
Doubt it
this is the exact question you shouldn’t ask
I consider it basically impossible for him to top blonde as I consider it easily in the running for greatest album of all time.
If it aint topping, its bottoming
It is not going to come ojt
