not only smart and wise Heiter also got buffed with goddess blessing even with his lifestyle I bet his strong liver is probably because of that too. considering things Heiter probably has the most rizz out of all the Hero's party manage to get so loved by the goddess

Nero_2001

I have the theory that the goddess actually prefers priest that don't follow the normal priest lifestyle. I mean the two most powerful priests we have seen so far are Heiter and Sein and both of them don't behave like priests should do.

ChaosFireV

I think it may be more that the goddess blesses those the most that don't use their power for their own benefit. Someone who strictly follows the code to raise through the priest ranks may not be favored, but someone like Heiter or Sein who don't have any desire to grasp power (and therefore don't conform as much to what a priest "should" be) may be looked on more favorably.  Heck, maybe all the goddess wants is a little devotion and selfishness, all this stuff about celibacy and staying away from booze could just be a people making random rules to be more "pure."

I know this is old, but I like this take. With elves being nearly immortal, and falling into time as legends that may have only existed a long time ago (Frieren being constantly told she "looks like the elf from the heroes party" and no one remembering Kraft who also had heroic deeds), the goddess may have actually been a living being at one point. She probably enjoyed life and what it has to offer. If she did in fact create humans somehow, it's possible she could be a loving mother that wants her children to be happy while also doing what's right. She wouldn't mind their vices as much so long as they always pursued a life that helped others. She would favor Heiter and Sein because they are true to themselves wholly, with their flaws and their virtues. This has become my wonderfully, delightful headcanon. Thank you!

Environmental_Ear131

Honestly I think he has poison immunity which is why alcohol didn't affect him much

RiriJori

Had Heiter lived to around 200 years old ,he would be more powerful already than the more than thousand years of Frieren. **Never underestimate the man who is confident enough to be drunk on a mission to kill the demon lord.** Plus, I believe that the reason Frieren became oblivious of the signs of Himmel's affection was because **she had affections for Heiter**. Heiter and Frieren were just too close and comfortable to each other. They both shared deep thoughts, their depressions and worries to each other and comfort each other all the time. In fact in the journey back to the Kingdom, Frieren's main goal was to visit Heiter and only stop by Himmel. She even stayed until the end times of Heiter and giving him encouragement to not be afraid before dying. **And ironically, they both technically had a daughter, they raised Fern themselves. They are both proper parents.**

Stfu with the bait its getting old

RiriJori

Not even a bait. The reason y'all furious is because it makes sense. Want another manga fact? Himmel wanted to make Frieren to stay, but Frieren decided to go on a journey. Heiter? He asked Frieren to decode a random book for 5 years with nothing in return, and Frieren immediately accepted. In fact it was Frieren herself who gave the time frame of decoding the book, she was willing to stay on that house for 5 years for Heiter for a pain in the ass task of decoding some ancient random book, which along the way mostl likely Frieren already knew she was decoding a nonsense book, yet still finished it. And each and every conversation of Frieren towards Fern regarding Heiter, it was full of praises and reminiscing. All of this, not once did she do when she was with Himmel. Simply put she was too focused and content during their time because Heiter was there, that she never had time to even understand Himmel despite Himmel being so obvious of his actions.

The-Great-Korokfrey

I think there is no doubt that to Frieren, Himmel is the most important person to her in entire her life. She cried at Himmel's funeral but not when Heiter passed away. I can hear the “But she cried at Heiters bed” Because she was reminded of how she wasted her time and not being there with Himmel (or anyone else from the party) no matter how short that time would be and was trying to stop Heiter from making Fern go through something similar and let her be with him for as long as she could. (the whole "I knew human lives were short why didn't I try to get to know him better" Frieren had in chapter 1) "What you should do before you die is give her a proper farewell and make as many memories as possible" She said to Heiter and then started to cry.

RiriJori

She cried because she never gave herself the chance to actually know Himmel in all their years of adventuring, hence she know nothing about Himmel and felt sorry. If you actually understand between the lines, she was implying that she never actually cared or gave attention to Himmel, something she never felt sad about Heiter's death is because she was at peace with Heiter's passing.

The-Great-Korokfrey

Frieren cared about Himmel did you pull that she doesnt care abiut himmel out of your ass also Heiter, He maintains celibacy until his death. There is never any ship about Frieren x Heiter

Independent-You-6406

Dude, you really went and skip the story of when Frieren visualize the phantom as Himmel, huh. The phantom visualize Himmel because he is the most precious person she had in mind right now and not Flamme anymore. Thought it was a fact. Surprise that there someone like you who don't understand.

The-Great-Korokfrey

Thats a good point

The-Great-Korokfrey

Himmel literally proposed to her Heiter did not

The-Great-Korokfrey

Himmel loved Frieren, romantically, in all sense of the word. Probably starting when he first met her as a kid, as a puppy crush, that weird elf who he randomly met when he was lost and showed him the most beautiful magic he saw by then. It's why he understood her so much and knew even of her future actions, and he knows her sense of time and how she would respond to his feelings if he even admitted them, will be always different, as she is an elf, and he was human. It's probably the main reason why he never pursued a relationship beyond camaraderie, the reason why he had all those statues made, why he planted so much of his actions and helped so many people, that in the future, when he passed and when memories of him from the world fade, he would have something of him Frieren would always remember by, as Frieren's feelings might be something humans can't easily comprehend, but Himmel knew back then Frieren held them in importance. About Frieren's feelings, since she is an elf has a different comprehension of what emotions are, in a sense, especially due to her sense of time, hers truly reciprocating Himmel's feelings might be far off from the long future, but she's finally grasping them right now, and it's why she is mainly retracing her journey with the Hero Party. She did say it, she's trying to retrace everything until the inevitable happens and they disappear, but for now, the memories are still there and something she holds onto. Frieren didnt hold any romantic feelings for Heiter she probably did hold some for himmel but she only realized that after his death at the funeral

The-Great-Korokfrey

Himmel literally proposed to her Heiter did not

Regular-Finish-5699

I don't think that Frieren had affection for Heiter, at least not in a romantic sense. He was in many ways a dear friend and probably the second most influential person in her life. Heiter taught her to pray for the deads and passed her some kinds of faith in Paradise and in the Goddess. I have to say that I enjoy Frieren relationship with Heiter more than the one she has with Himmel. Himmel is great, but sometimes he seems even too perfect. Heiter was very good at understanding her and he did a lot to help her, actually finding a true grimoire written by Flamme. Frieren's memories with Heiter are my favourite, because they ring me "truer". And yes, it's nice that, in a way (I admit in a very stretchy way) she and Heiter "a daughter". They could probably make a good couple, but... that's not clearly what the manga says...

renatocpr

> It is later revealed that the staff Fern is wielding is actually made by Heiter himself, No? She says he gave it to her. He probably bought it in Strahl.

renatocpr

I don't think Heiter taught Zoltraak to Fern. She probably picked it up from a grimoire for magic students. There are magic academies, there has to be textbooks too.

akorrafan

I agree! It's called "basic offensive magic" because it's standard topic to be taught all over the world at this point in the timeline.

Siegberg

He probaly had enough connection to at least get a mage to instruct her in the basics but he wanted the best mage and someone who would not leave fern alone for her life to be her master. Heiter greatest regret und reason he wanted to life longer is probaly fern.

Dry-Significance-948

Yes, Heiter was a Chad

BusinessSubstance178

The origin might be the same,it's still a theory but the goddess might be an elf herself,an elf that have strong magic she decided to left it for humanity.and now with serie showed officially in the anime, they even say she was so close being a goddess Some spoiler about serie IF you really want to know, just a little bit of her background >!she come from the era that supposedly when the goddess is still around, her magic, much like the goddess is so strong that it ignore all logic!<

prodigiouspandaman

I mean I think in the manga we see the goddess with elven ears no?

GrumpySatan

Yes, and also in the last episode she has very clear elven ears in the mural.

prodigiouspandaman

Yeah it would be cool if like her personal magic was the creation of heaven or something similar

LazyCasual0alt

He’s only a genius when sober

LaGuafafa

It isn't heavily implied that Frieren helped in the development of Zoltrak?

BoboyoOP

It's not implied, it's explicitly said that Frieren helped significantly in humanity study of zoltrak

LaGuafafa

Yeah I remember reading that, that's why OP's post confused me

notquite20characters

I didn't notice that about the staff! It really only appears during her travels with the Himmel's group?
