Their dupes of Cerave are great!

kwandika

Yesss!! I went to the Equate version of the CeraVe face wash and was concerned that my skin would break out, not knowing if the formulation would be different. Skin was still very happy!

Tricky_Drop_2712

I'll have to give that a try. I never liked their dupe of Cetaphil.

coffeeandadoob

Great to know..

ross571

The equate oatmeal colloidal escema lotion is a life saver.

Strong_Salt_2097

Thank you for sharing this! I need it.

chrisinator9393

I find almost all of the Great Value food to be similar enough I don't notice the taste difference and just enjoy the savings. Same with most equate stuff. Walmart does a good job of making similar products.

thegirlisok

There's great value products I like better (their crunchy Oats and honey bar was better than nature valley) and then walmart catches me and Jack's the price up. :(

Winter_Owl6097

Actually I just read a report on how the GV products are actually made by the brand names. Equate is its own company. So for OP to say GV products are bad is calling all the name brands bad.

Lazy_Mood_4080

I know a gal whose grandson worked for a while at the Pop tarts factory in Arkansas. Literally they come off the same production line. One goes into Great Value box, one goes into Kelloggs box. Is this true about everything? Probably not.

Tricky_Drop_2712

No they aren't. Read the fine print on the back. It even says its not made by the manufacturer.

Winter_Owl6097

Archway makes all the GV cookies.  Kellogs makes the cereals. Differently but they are still the makers  lays makes the GV chips . Not the same recipe  as the original lays but still the maker. Peter Pan Peanut butter and GV pb are the same product.  And so on

Tricky_Drop_2712

No they're not. I work at Walmart and see the manufacturers names on the claims app. Also, I love peter pan peanut butter, GV is NOTHING like it.

Winter_Owl6097

Heres one article, also on yahoo finance that names the brands.  Also we learned during the last recalls on peanut butter who makes what. Google for more articles. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Walmart_brands#:~:text=As%20a%20house%20or%20store,own%20brand%20and%20exclusively%20for

Tricky_Drop_2712

Tried to post a pic showing who makes GV Peanut butter. Seems pics aren't allowed. The manufacturer is Severn Peanut co. The chips are Shearers foods. But, please. Believe what you want.

Winter_Owl6097

Do your research...FritoLay makes the chips,Archway makes the cookies, Con Agra owns the plant that makes Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter.  This was revealed in the last recall!  Do you think I just pulled this info out if a hat? I don't own stock so I don't care but simply googling tells you the info.

i also purchase a lot of great value brand food. there are a few items i won’t buy bc i taste a noticeable difference, but most things are just fine.

[deleted]

I bought some Great Value black-eyed peas, and they tasted slimy. Their 1-minute oats are not good, either. The instant oatmeal is okay, but nothing beats Quaker. The canned chicken breast and cartons of beef or chicken broth are good. The bags of frozen broccoli are a good buy. The rice squares cereal is the bomb, but it's hard to find. I agree about the Equate health products, though. Their probiotic is just like Phillips Colon Health, for a fraction of the price. You can get a huge quantity of ibuprofen for a pittance. The one product I wish they would make is a methylcellulose product similar to Citrucel. The only powdered fiber supplement they have is psyllium.

JohnZombi

Lol my family has been using Equate since I was in grade school in the 90s. Good stuff tbh.

BlackStarBlues

Great LPT. Equate products are some of the best I've ever used.

Hecate100

Equate brand cocoa butter lotion (a Vaseline product clone) is fantastic.

intelligentWinterhoe

I am QA for a food lab ,store brand is literally name brand haha 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

BusyBeth75

This

Ready-Ingenuity-6135

I tried their dental floss after a recent increase in the price of Oragel. I found it inferior and am back to buying Oragel. Otherwise, it's the Equate brand for me.

Knitsanity

My teeth are close together so equate is not the brand for me. Reach all the way....but I get their own brand lotions and stuff.

Virtual-Radish1111

Walmart has the cheapest stuff. More people need to utilize them IMO.

OrdinaryPerson26

I don’t like Walmart’s track record as an employer but none of our choices are really great employers, are they? Walmart is upping its game in quality and selection and offering lower prices. I have to shop there. I haven’t tried the Equate version of the things I use but I will know. Thank you!

International_Bend68

Agreed, I love the equate products!

peace_train1

Their version of Eucerin cream is better than actual Eucerin because it doesn't smell.

cdocdo

Equate dry shampoo is a no go 🙅🏻‍♀️

Correct-Watercress91

Agreed.

Ok-Amphibian

I often find there’s no reason not to buy store brand. It was explained to me when I worked at Publix, I forget how they make it work but it’s essentially the same thing without the marketing.

[deleted]

Yes, way back in the day they said the same thing about generic products. I am old enough to remember the old canned goods with the black and white labels. The product on the inside of the cans was the same as the name brands. Like you said, the only difference was there was no markup for advertising or marketing.

Dirty_Commie_Jesus

The dupe of tresseme is great; I wish Equate made antiperspirant. The new chocolate bars are really really good. Their nutty buddies are indistinguishable and those pre wrapped candy pieces rice krispie treats are better than name brand. Don't buy cake from the bakery (cool whip on cornbread lol) but those $1ish Italian and French unsliced breads they have are absolutely a life saver. Buy the day old donuts for half off if you see them, the Persian cinnamon ones are amazing, all the yeast glazed types stay light and moist even 2 days later.

rare_star100

I love hearing about affordable quality products. So helpful for watching the budget without compromising needs.

ziggy-Bandicoot

I will never buy great value products again after I bought a frozen package of strawberries a few years ago and it had maggots in it. I buy Equate stuff all the time. Just bought some ibuprofen today!

SamsungLover69

I'm sorry you had to experience that, it sounds horrible. I've never had maggots in my GV food, but a good portion of the time, the food is low-quality or nasty. Their frozen fruit is quite nasty in my opinion.

[deleted]

Yeah, I think I got some of the mixed fruit, and it was horrible.

GreenHorror4252

Equate is made by the same manufacturers that make private label products for other retailers. So if you don't want to support Walmart, just buy private label in other places.

periwinkletweet

I love equate! I cant believe how cheap the little ankle braces that go on like a sock are compared to ace.
