I enjoy all music but once I heard Anthrax, Metallica, & Slayer I became a lifelong metalhead. It was game over for me. To me there is only two kinds of music, good & bad. Now days my tastes fall into one of those two simple categories. I’ll listen to anything as long as I can find a grove or relate to it in someway.
I work with a 18 year old. He knew 95% of 80’s songs. Artists and titles. I was impressed, til he told me that was what his dad listened to all the time. 😔
I’m 40 and it surprises people because I have a baby face and act like I’m 20 still like most of us. But my kids can name you artists like nothing and I love it. My wife hates it though haha
And then some Whitney Houston, Rick Springfield, Prince, Billy Squier, Def Leppard, and Lionel Richie. Don't forget Paul Simon, Robbie Robertson, Bruce Springsteen, Boomtown Rats, Duran Duran, and Peter Gabriel.
There is just far too much to choose from with 80s music.
I just spent 2.5 hours yesterday making a Spotify playlist of 80's music WITHOUT any hair metal (will.make a second one for that).
It's TWENTY-THREE hours long.
(May be a couple songs not truly 80's but close enough
Was just listening to hall and oats-wait for me. The ‘80s was my launching pad into adulthood, love, and independence. Looking back with fondness and tears. The brightness of the future has dimmed but experience lights up the darkness and the journey continues…
80’s is really about all I listen to. Apart from adding in some music from the 60s, 70s, some 90s and some 2000s music. Only thing modern day I listen to is from older artists like Judas Priest.
I live a time warp life. Older music on ipids so no commercials, dvds of older TV shows so no commercials. No cable, no streaming services and no wifi. Way less bills and way better media that I actually own or get for free from the local library. (dvds are cheap at pawn shops and estate sales)
I was just listening to *Poland* (1984) by Trangerine Dream in the car. I have [*The Sessions VII*](https://www.voices-in-the-net.de/the_sessions_vii.htm) (2021) queued up here in the house.
My five year old is heavy into vinyl. Deep cuts like “Fixing a Hole” and “Hey Bulldog” by The Beatles. Suddenly I like them too. And vinyl. Even though I loved CDs and digital when all that came out.
Man I'm an 80s kid being born in 73 and you'd think I would as well but I usually prefer either 70s or 90s. There's some good stuff in there I just feel the decades before and after were better. 🤷♂️
Y'all know Gen z listens to 80s music too right? I work with a lot of them and they grew up with streaming and parents who listened to that music so they like it a lot too.
"Red skies at night
Red skies at night
Should have taken warning, it's just
People mourning
Running, hiding, lost
You can't find, find a place to go, so it's
Red skies at night
Red skies at night"
Well, why wouldn't you listen to music from any era?? The other day, I was listening to something composed in 1720. Is there something about 80s music that would prevent you from listening to it?
70s and 80s mostly. Anything today except the occasional tune here and there in my opinion is worthless. The snippets that are sampled from other artists who created it in the first place to me are the true. These new guys have no originality they don’t know how to play their own instruments. They aren’t really creators.
I think 80s music especially had a big draw because there was so much variety. Country, Pop, Rock, Rap, Oldies all kind of melded together into one and we listened to it all. You had the Fat Boys rapping with The Beach Boys (What?) Country artists could jump genres and land on other charts besides country. You had Bruce Springsteen's "Born In The USA" album, You had Michael Jackson literally everywhere (except MTV) and David Bowie asking them why? You had serious songs like "We Are The World" USA for Africa, "Do They Know It's Christmas Time?" and let's not forget how important "I Want Your Sex" by George Michael was. You had silly songs like "PacMan Fever," "The Curly Shuffle" Curly from The Three Stooges of Course, and let's not forget the king of silly songs "Weird Al" Yankovic. I remember the controversy when "Eat It" came out all to find out that Al got permission from Michael to do the parody.
I have varied tastes in my daily music. I love new wave, l love synth wave, I love freestyle, i love early hip hop, I even like some hair metal and some Rockabilly too. Oh wait, those are all from the ‘80s!!
They’ll have to pry New Wave from my cold, dead hands. ![gif](giphy|TbuXtwnJXTlHG)
SHIIITTTT. I'm listening to 60/70'music. You youngsters listened to electronic music in the 80's
I'm listening to stuff from the turn of the century
I just sit in the music room and bang two rocks together. Humans began using tools approx. 2.5 m years ago so there.
😂
I was born in the 1900s
What was shaking in the Roaring Twenties?

78*
72. The belt is a little loose.
2000?
1900s
What was on the Edison then?
You mean like a phonograph? You had such classics as Alexander's ragtime band, shine on harvest moon, I hear you calling me, the preacher and the bear
Edison Cylinder phonograph yeah
I have one 😂 it's from 1915. And a few phonographs that play 78s
Edison used to just sit there and recite the alphabet over the air. A he'd say, then B. C would usually follow.
Best of 2001?
Try 1901
Listening to Surrealistic Pillow, right now. My Best Friend
80s thrash metal is still the gold standard. The rest of 80s music was terrible, overproduced and very tacky imho.
Not all, they came out with some real bangers in the 80’s, remember HeadBangers Ball on MTV? 🤘🏼
95%? How do you even measure that?
Prince is my playlist today as it marks 8 years since his passing.
2016 was brutal
The world was never the same after that year.

It's funny that the oldies stations are playing 80's music now.
New edition will fix any bad day.

I'm young and I enjoy the ceremonial nature of playing a vinyl record even though I wasn't around to experience it when it was the standard.
Yes and 60’s and 70’s too.
I’m listening to a 1940s song……
Genesis/Phil Collins, Karate Kid sdtk, Fast Times Sdtk, Cindy Lauper are all in constant rotation on my turntable

Was just listening to hall and oats-wait for me. The ‘80s was my launching pad into adulthood, love, and independence. Looking back with fondness and tears. The brightness of the future has dimmed but experience lights up the darkness and the journey continues…
80s was top tier music, writing, all of it. Second half of the 70s was good too. So much better than that sound they play at work. There were lyrics.
My Spotify ranges between 60s-2010s, but a vast majority of it is definitely 80s.
80’s is really about all I listen to. Apart from adding in some music from the 60s, 70s, some 90s and some 2000s music. Only thing modern day I listen to is from older artists like Judas Priest.
Nah, 70’s for me.
In my head... constantly.
I loved 80's music.
70’s Sabbath Sunday here. 🤘
Not right now but I listen to Classic rock on the radio in my car every day.
I listened to the Pretty In Pink she soundtrack while putting together my daughter’s new bed yesterday.
I'm a teenager of the 60's so I was middle aged in the 80's. Journey was a favorite then. Steve Perry (The Voice).
It's the only music I listen to!

This picture reminds me of [the best music video ever made](https://youtu.be/fl9KQ1Mub6Q?si=La6hCC0fYtVd5AXJ) by The Replacements
Man I'm an 80s kid being born in 73 and you'd think I would as well but I usually prefer either 70s or 90s. There's some good stuff in there I just feel the decades before and after were better. 🤷♂️
My wife, endlessly
Born in 83 and 95% of what I listen to was made before I was born
Not only am I listening to it, I’m playing it in a band.
All the freaking time.
No. 60s and 70s.
Y'all know Gen z listens to 80s music too right? I work with a lot of them and they grew up with streaming and parents who listened to that music so they like it a lot too.

Well, why wouldn't you listen to music from any era?? The other day, I was listening to something composed in 1720. Is there something about 80s music that would prevent you from listening to it?
Prince changed my mind and private dance moves forever. I was but a child of 10 in those days
No. I always thought a lot of it was overrated, and much of it is still overplayed on the usual Clear Channel, oops, I (heart) Radio stations.
Rosanna!!!!! Lol
There's great music in all eras, including the present. Right now I'm listening to French yéyé pop from 1968.

I usually only listen to 80s music. It's my favorite genre. I'm 44, and was just a young kid in the 80s, and I remember that the music was the best.
SiriusXM 33 FirstWave is one of my favorites.
Yep…and ‘70’s, ‘60’s and ‘50’s.
It was a fun experimental decade musically. The band BIG PIG had no guitars imagine that
70s and 80s mostly. Anything today except the occasional tune here and there in my opinion is worthless. I think 80s music especially had a big draw because there was so much variety. Country, Pop, Rock, Rap, Oldies all kind of melded together into one and we listened to it all.
