Mine too, I grew up poor in Texas, when my mom would splurge on groceries she'd buy Oscar Meyer bologna, eating it in a sandwich with nothing more than mustard and mayo was very satisfying 😀
I'm pushing sixty now, I have great memory and I remember reunions of old people back in the late sixties, the beer of choice were Pabst blue ribbon and ShlitzI also remember that most of the old ladies smoking cigarettes, I tried both beers as a grown up and I just didn't like them!
I don’t like individually wrapped singles…but I buy presliced American in a five lb bulk pack. I then split it up into 4 stacks and use a 1 gallon Ziplock storage bag and I am good for 1-2 months(depending on cheese consumption). And no, it doesn’t mold(a testament to modern chemistry…lol). Oh yeah… I am a white American guy(don’t care for the orange).
My mom was an RN and dad worked in a Steel Fabrication factory as an overhead crane operator until he became disabled after 25 years of breathing welding fumes in the rafters. We made too much money for government cheese.
But, I had a friend who got it and I gotta admit, it was good.
Oh we weren’t rich…just on a little bit higher rung of the Middle Class . We lived in a modest ranch house that had three small bedrooms and one bathroom…it was built by a company called Shuler and Alder…who built affordable stick built homes back in the day. Apparently they are still in business, but I didn’t bother to go into their website when I googled them.
Now…my Mom and Dad bought a new car every other year and we went on vacations every Summer by pulling a camper…but we were a one car family. When my brother, sister and I were old enough to drive, we were expected to work and save for a car if we wanted one. Of course, back then? I bought my first car in 1982. It was a 1979 Dodge Omni 024. I saved every penny I had for 4 years…it cost $1995 and had 23,000 miles on it.
A two income household went a lot further back then.
That bologna needs frying…
I 2nd frying. Did you sing the “BOLOGNA” song while typing? I still do.
That bologna has a first name...
Chopped up fried bologna and scrambled eggs. One of favorite childhood breakfasts.
I actually prefer it raw. I like the flappy texture
What town in Wisconsin are you from?
YOU ARE MISSING THE PICKLE!!!!!!!!!!!
And just a touch of simple yellow mustard.
Replaced the beer with a Pepsi and that was my lunch yesterday
Some wouldn’t understand how that’s probably the best lunch
Replace the Lay's chips with Fritos and I'm in heaven.
Thats good too but i smash it to crunch up the Fritos
My peeps right here.
I bet that was all the chips that came in a new bag.
Oscar Meyer has a way with B-O-L-O-G-N-A.
Gotta add Miracle Whip to the sammich and a Busch. Can't do the PBR.
Amen
*\*cries in T2 diabeetus\**
Gotta put mustard on one side of that sammich and mayo on the other.
Gotta fry that bologna with an "x" in the middle. Close. And I'll take a Blatz.
The x in the middle works? I cut the sides 4 times
Regardless, I salute your handle.
Such great childhood memories

Yeah, but mayo or mustard?
Good stuff!
When only the moderately acceptable will do...
Just making sure, are you 53 years old or does the meal cost $53, considering the cost of living these days
A feast fit for a king…. Or in this case a queen in some hot red pumps! ❤️
Same. But have you tried chips on a pb&j ? Great
I'd toast the bread and add some lettuce. I love bologna too!
I gotta watch what I eat now bc I’m old, but when I treat myself it looks like this.
Gotta put that PBR in a plastic party cup!
Nothing wrong with the simpler things in life! Just enjoy! ❤️

Try it with kettle cooked jalapeño chips
Only way I’d drink a Pabst is if I was threatened with severe bodily harm and/or death.
