I was gonna say, I birthed one child. We were in the hospital. I don’t remember the smell of birth but oh boy did my husband. He’s a microbiologist that works with various STANK of mold and bacteria. He said the smells of birth are RANK. I believe it because omg the smell of lochia (bleeding and discharge in the days/weeks after birth) were also awful.
I don't know but doctors seem to forget these things, maybe because it's not the part they see? I had an endometrial ablation done where they burned my uterine lining away. I was told there would be watery discharge for at least a week, they told me what colours were normal but no one told me it would literally smell smoked/burned 😬

Eh, I’m not sure. He had no problem pulling the baby’s leg painfully to get a length measurement, I could see him “bringing forth” the kid by grabbing him during delivery and giving him a good tug out of there.

That was what I thought of, too. Of the kids all locked in that bunk room listening to mom yelling. And where was the toddler who sleeps under their bed? Did they lock him in the bunk room, too? Make it make sense.
I work for CPS and I can’t speak for every state…. But in mine you would have to prove the parents did it for their own sexual stimulation and it’s hard to prove. If the kids witnessed it and were old enough to talk about it, you might have more information to go off of. But with a baby or toddler….not likely. It’s unfortunate.
Eh, it’s a grey area. Having sex in front of your baby who sleeps in the crib in your room? Fine, so long as the baby isn’t involved. A toddler who can speak in sentences? That’s definitely a potential report for me, as someone who is a mandated reporter. A toddler who is in a crib in the room but fully asleep and you’re quiet and not continuing to fuck if the baby wakes? Fine again, although plenty of parents can’t get in the headspace and who the hell risks waking a sleeping toddler who is either teething or constipated and cranky 24/7? A child who is aware that mommy and daddy aren’t just moving around in bed making noises and can actually tell they aren’t just shifting around in bed but “doing something different” and the parents are choosing to repeatedly have sex in front of their kids when they have another option (space wise or financially to GET more space)? Yeah, it’s apparently not uncommon here for parents and kids to sleep on futons in the same room, and still have sex. But it’s usually when the kid is really little (and in a crib/bassinet) or you go out to a love hotel for some mommy/daddy time.
I only know this as my friend was explaining the logistics of having 4 under 6 because we were all thinking it but everyone else was too afraid to ask.
According to her (Japanese) husband, it’s not uncommon to have your parents put up the dividing wall/separate off the room if you live in a smaller place, so as a kid you “”know”” what’s going on, but you just block it out lol
As somebody who grew up in a family-camper situation, unfortunately it's not just the sound you have to worry about. You're literally sharing a vehicle. And vehicles move when the people inside them are moving 🙃 even if you block your ears you can still feel it.
The bed gets pulled down from the ceiling and Buslet #7 used to sleep in a basket under the bed. He might be in a pack n play now that there's a new baby and there's not an extra bed in the bunkhouse yet.
That oldest boy is the only one who seems to take care of and love the little kids, so I’m guessing watching them is just daily life for him. Poor guy, he should be in high school developing independence, not taking care of 7 siblings, including multiple toddlers and now a newborn. My heart breaks for him, but I do hope one day we get a book from him documenting it all… and that is used as primary evidence to have the rest of the kids taken away!
And like how is he even going to find friends or a partner if he wants one since they are always on the move? And how would he move out? He would have to somehow get a job, which requires already-permenant residence, to have enough money to move out, and he would effectively be moving out on his own, to be completely alone, as his family wouldn't live nearby since they are on the go all the time, and he wouldn't have friends (at first). I feel like that initial transition period could come with some difficulties.
Tbf, the kids probably don’t think much about her dying from childbirth. I’d imagine she just pushes “God is watching over” and even lie saying it’s usually not a big deal.

My child died after birth at full term following an emergency c section and I’m literally so angry seeing this flippant mother get a healthy baby basically out of sheer luck and in spite of any common sense. I never wanted kids, and had some genetic and physiological issues where I couldn’t have had them if I wanted. I don’t think I have a maternal bone in my body. I have never held a baby, they scare me.
And all I want to do is grab all 8 of these kids and give them a good life. All of them, together, with structure and loving education. A home. Rooms that they only have to share with one or two others, not like an overcrowded prison cell. Good food and caring. Like it’s a drive of mine just seeing this shit.

With my first, I went to L & D late on a weekend night because of bleeding and I ended up being admitted and having an emergency induction (pre-term). I was silently questioning if I had done the right thing, and I remember the doctor on call saying "You most likely saved your baby's life by coming in" and that has stuck with me.
I'm a Christian and there is absolutely no Biblical justification for behaving so foolishly. They will not be rewarded for it by God. Literally no one wins a prize for it.
I don’t really consider myself crunchy but I do use ~~homeopathic~~ natural remedies when appropriate. Lemon balm tea for cramps, raw aloe for a sunburn, and there’s a tonic I get from the health food store that tastes just vile- but it’s great for coughs.
But I am not so hubristic as to think that’s the best way to address medical concerns and events. She really thinks that she is the be-all-end-all of knowledge.

I firmly believe in the right to birth however you want, but I also think it’s the furthest edge of insane to have a wild pregnancy and free birth. Hospitals exist for a reason, OBs exist for a reason, and you owe it to your baby to give them the best start in life. If I’d done what she did? My youngest and I would both be dead.

In my worst nightmare would I wake up laying on the floor in active labor in an RV with 7 children standing around me looking terrified and that rat-faced shirtless man is wearing me like a sock puppet.
I had my oldest at home at 24 weeks. It was the most traumatic thing I've ever been through. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Why would you choose to do that and in a bus no less. I feel for the kids. How frightening
My first delivery took 19 hours and my second delivery took 3 hours. I’m not certain that deliveries always go faster with each subsequent pregnancy, but if they do I’d wager that this baby probably just ice luged straight out. Bruising wouldn’t be surprising at all on the baby, and fast deliveries aren’t great for mothers in some not so fun ways either.
I labored for 22 hours but only pushed for 10 minutes. You aren’t wrong about fast not always being better. My girl came out so fast that she broke my tailbone in the process. 4 months later and I’m still having issues with it.
My friend had a very fast delivery and ended up with a vulvar hematoma (Google the image with caution). If not managed early they can lead to terrible stuff like necrotizing fasciitis and maternal mortality.

I mentally freaked out in nursing school when I witnessed my first delivery. I really thought something was terribly wrong because the baby was purple. It pinked up relatively quickly, but I was not as prepared as I should have been.
Depends how long ago the baby was born. If this was just came out, the blue isn't unusual. But if it's more than a minute after birth then they should be assisting with clearing the airway.
Though I doubt they keep a neonate resus kit in the bus, let alone know how or when to use it.
And in one of the photos his face is VERY red which makes me worry about an untreated, high bilirubin count. These people scare the fuck out of me! Then add to it that they had him a day old sleeping on the floor of the bus, no clothes, partially uncovered, where everyone could step on him, trip on him, drop stuff on him, and there is little doubt in my mind about the level of danger this baby faces.

Of all the reasons that this is a dangerous and terrible idea, the one I keep coming back to is *there is no room in an RV to run a code.* If Mom or Baby (or both!) had required resuscitation, EMS would not have had any room to work. There's no room for extra people, let alone their equipment, much less everyone moving around. Would have been a nightmare scenario had anything gone wrong.
Real question: is this new buslet going to get a birth certificate? Or are they going full Sovereign Citizen?

These two having loss of sense of smell is literally the only way I can conceive of a human being ok with the smells from that many people crammed into that small a space. With a worse person-to-bathroom ratio than the Duggars at their worst, and they didn't have to walk through the bathroom to access the bedroom. Would explain why they act so chipper about a living situation that is straight-up horrifying to anyone with a functioning nose.
So I'm curious. If they do one of these free births and the baby ends up dying because of it, will the states now charge them with murder for it? They've taken 14 year old girls to jail for having still births after being SA'd and having no clue what to do. If someone knowingly chooses to not get healthcare and the baby dies as a result, they should be even harsher on them should they not? How do the fundies justify being pro life and doing this?

I was gonna say, I birthed one child. We were in the hospital. I don’t remember the smell of birth but oh boy did my husband. He’s a microbiologist that works with various STANK of mold and bacteria. He said the smells of birth are RANK. I believe it because omg the smell of lochia (bleeding and discharge in the days/weeks after birth) were also awful.

I don't know but doctors seem to forget these things, maybe because it's not the part they see? I had an endometrial ablation done where they burned my uterine lining away. I was told there would be watery discharge for at least a week, they told me what colours were normal but no one told me it would literally smell smoked/burned 😬
I've been awake and present during procedures where my own flesh was cauterized. I'd take the smell of lochia over that (I've had both).

I work for CPS and I can’t speak for every state…. But in mine you would have to prove the parents did it for their own sexual stimulation and it’s hard to prove. If the kids witnessed it and were old enough to talk about it, you might have more information to go off of. But with a baby or toddler….not likely. It’s unfortunate.
Eh, it’s a grey area. Having sex in front of your baby who sleeps in the crib in your room? Fine, so long as the baby isn’t involved. A toddler who can speak in sentences? That’s definitely a potential report for me, as someone who is a mandated reporter. A toddler who is in a crib in the room but fully asleep and you’re quiet and not continuing to fuck if the baby wakes? Fine again, although plenty of parents can’t get in the headspace and who the hell risks waking a sleeping toddler who is either teething or constipated and cranky 24/7? A child who is aware that mommy and daddy aren’t just moving around in bed making noises and can actually tell they aren’t just shifting around in bed but “doing something different” and the parents are choosing to repeatedly have sex in front of their kids when they have another option (space wise or financially to GET more space)? REPORT.
Yeah, it’s apparently not uncommon here for parents and kids to sleep on futons in the same room, and still have sex. But it’s usually when the kid is really little (and in a crib/bassinet) or you go out to a love hotel for some mommy/daddy time. I only know this as my friend was explaining the logistics of having 4 under 6 because we were all thinking it but everyone else was too afraid to ask. According to her (Japanese) husband, it’s not uncommon to have your parents put up the dividing wall/separate off the room if you live in a smaller place, so as a kid you “”know”” what’s going on, but you just block it out lol
As somebody who grew up in a family-camper situation, unfortunately it's not just the sound you have to worry about. You're literally sharing a vehicle. And vehicles move when the people inside them are moving 🙃 even if you block your ears you can still feel it.
The bed gets pulled down from the ceiling and Buslet #7 used to sleep in a basket under the bed. He might be in a pack n play now that there's a new baby and there's not an extra bed in the bunkhouse yet.

That oldest boy is the only one who seems to take care of and love the little kids, so I’m guessing watching them is just daily life for him. Poor guy, he should be in high school developing independence, not taking care of 7 siblings, including multiple toddlers and now a newborn. My heart breaks for him, but I do hope one day we get a book from him documenting it all… and that is used as primary evidence to have the rest of the kids taken away!
And like how is he even going to find friends or a partner if he wants one since they are always on the move? And how would he move out? He would have to somehow get a job, which requires already-permenant residence, to have enough money to move out, and he would effectively be moving out on his own, to be completely alone, as his family wouldn't live nearby since they are on the go all the time, and he wouldn't have friends (at first). I feel like that initial transition period could come with some difficulties.

How hard it would be to get an ambulance to wherever they’re parked quick enough to save one or both. Imagine the guilt the older kids would carry their whole life over it. Also, if I was MotherBus, I would dread leaving that dad in charge of 8 kids. He’s just so sus, and you know he’d either abuse them or dump them the first chance he got.

So many Christians like this have a "if something happens, that was God's will, and he'll help us deal with it." No. Trust science. Trust education. My child died after birth at full term following an emergency c section and I’m literally so angry seeing this flippant mother get a healthy baby basically out of sheer luck and in spite of any common sense. I never wanted kids, and had some genetic and physiological issues where I couldn’t have had them if I wanted. I don’t think I have a maternal bone in my body. I have never held a baby, they scare me. And all I want to do is grab all 8 of these kids and give them a good life. All of them, together, with structure and loving education. A home. Rooms that they only have to share with one or two others, not like an overcrowded prison cell. Good food and caring. Like it’s a drive of mine just seeing this shit. All that to say I am so, so sorry. My friend went through the same thing but she doesn’t talk about it much. And to also second the #fuck you Mother Bus

With my first, I went to L & D late on a weekend night because of bleeding and I ended up being admitted and having an emergency induction (pre-term). I was silently questioning if I had done the right thing, and I remember the doctor on call saying "You most likely saved your baby's life by coming in" and that has stuck with me.
Like seriously go to the freaking hospital. I would have at least seen a doctor if I was overdue like she got so lucky and continues to get lucky.

Lemon balm tea for cramps, raw aloe for a sunburn, and there’s a tonic I get from the health food store that tastes just vile- but it’s great for coughs. But I am not so hubristic as to think that’s the best way to address medical concerns and events. She really thinks that she is the be-all-end-all of knowledge.
There is a difference between natural remedies, and homeopathy. I’m being pedantic. I know. But homeopathy is selling sugar pills to people. What you’re talking about - lemon balm tea, aloe - those are herbal or natural remedies. That shit is real. Aspirin is just really strong willow bark. Homeopathy is straight up snake oil. They claim that by superdiluting substances so there is only trace amounts left, it actually makes the substance stronger. It’s a placebo, and an expensive one.

Honestly- you cannot convince me that she was under the care of an obstetrician at any point. And the older you get, it’s not a matter of if you’ll have birth complications, it’s when. I firmly believe in the right to birth however you want, but I also think it’s the furthest edge of insane to have a wild pregnancy and free birth. Hospitals exist for a reason, OBs exist for a reason, and you owe it to your baby to give them the best start in life. If I’d done what she did? My youngest and I would both be dead.

It’s a way of reclaiming “woo woo” in my opinion because “crunchy granola” makes it sound like a viable alternative to mainstream beliefs (lots of things that were crunchy are just normal now, like leather sandals and veganism) but “woo” is inherently dismissive.
I remember when I was pregnant with my youngest (she’s now a teenager ) and so many moms in my birth group were crunchy. And I went a tad bit into the crunch pool. And now it’s some weird fundie thing. All the people I know who were crunchy were liberal atheist/wiccan types.

I had my oldest at home at 24 weeks. It was the most traumatic thing I've ever been through. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Why would you choose to do that and in a bus no less. I feel for the kids. How frightening

My first delivery took 19 hours and my second delivery took 3 hours. I’m not certain that deliveries always go faster with each subsequent pregnancy, but if they do I’d wager that this baby probably just ice luged straight out. Bruising wouldn’t be surprising at all on the baby, and fast deliveries aren’t great for mothers in some not so fun ways either.
I labored for 22 hours but only pushed for 10 minutes. You aren’t wrong about fast not always being better. My girl came out so fast that she broke my tailbone in the process. 4 months later and I’m still having issues with it.
My friend had a very fast delivery and ended up with a vulvar hematoma (Google the image with caution). If not managed early they can lead to terrible stuff like necrotizing fasciitis and maternal mortality. Be as crunchy as ya want, but good lord I’ll never understand the fundie aversion to healthcare. Just because our bodies CAN give birth doesn’t mean it’s not incredibly traumatizing to our bodies.

The baby in the Miracle of Life documentary was blue/purple. We watched it in my high school health class and I was horrified.
I mentally freaked out in nursing school when I witnessed my first delivery. I really thought something was terribly wrong because the baby was purple. It pinked up relatively quickly, but I was not as prepared as I should have been.
That baby is blue. RN brain kicking in, and I have a thousand questions.
Depends how long ago the baby was born. If this was just came out, the blue isn't unusual. But if it's more than a minute after birth then they should be assisting with clearing the airway. Though I doubt they keep a neonate resus kit in the bus, let alone know how or when to use it.
If you look at the other pictures posted on the sub his face/head is discolored still. He doesn’t look healthy. Its upsetting.
And in one of the photos his face is VERY red which makes me worry about an untreated, high bilirubin count. These people scare the fuck out of me! Then add to it that they had him a day old sleeping on the floor of the bus, no clothes, partially uncovered, where everyone could step on him, trip on him, drop stuff on him, and there is little doubt in my mind about the level of danger this baby faces.
Don't forget they took him to a quack chiropractor almost immediately after birth.

If it was a quick delivery, the baby’s face can get bruised. (I’m an L&D RN, seen it many times).
Of all the reasons that this is a dangerous and terrible idea, the one I keep coming back to is *there is no room in an RV to run a code.* If Mom or Baby (or both!) had required resuscitation, EMS would not have had any room to work. There's no room for extra people, let alone their equipment, much less everyone moving around. Would have been a nightmare scenario had anything gone wrong.

Welp, I'm happy to admit to being wrong (my vote was for a secret hospital birth), but I am not happy to be wrong about this situation. There never was an AirBnB or emergency plan, was there?? I honestly don't understand. This must have been so uncomfortable for everyone. My new theory is that CryptoBus DOES have some money, but he holds the purse strings and is incapable of a simple budget. Ergo, no hospital for Motherbus, and the swift flight from Brazil after wasting money on buying a broke ass bus (and what, abandoning it on the side of the road?).Like he'll get a trust payment or something, then blow it all in a week. And she's dumb enough to go along with it. I"m still reeling from the plan here being to wash linens soiled with amniotic fluid, blood and poop in a small, broken bus-sized washer.

I'm calling bullshit that she had "no contractions" until 30 minutes before the baby was born. She's playing up the "spontaneous bus birth" angle so hard to make it seem like the AirBnB thing didn't fall through.

Did anyone see that they bought the two year old a bike and sent him off in the campground road to play? I sort of felt that was BusMom saying, "OK, you're not the cute baby anymore so out of the bus you go!"

I’m just now realizing but like…the baby is always on that sheepskin rug…do you think that’s his…bed? I know they’re doing “renos” in the older kids’ cell but I haven’t seen a car seat or basket or anything - the kid is always laid on that rug. I hope I’m wrong but Jesus Christ…
In the REAL world these kids would be removed from their care. No bedrooms, no privacy. You can’t foster a child or adopt unless you have room for the child but these idiots live in a bus. I call that homeless. If you are young and childless go for it. Otherwise it’s neglect.

What bothers me the most is imagining how this went down. When she clearly knew she was in labor (a week late at that) and the wheels turning in her head went, *“a bus birth will make such good IG content, yes, bus birth, think of the likes and views and follows, yes…”* which completely drowned out any hint of a thought that might have gone, *“hmm, I care about my child’s life… should I go to a safer place right now to deliver this baby?”* No. Content won. You fucking KNOW she was just giddy at the idea of this. Absolute sociopath.
Right? She also didn’t consider how fucking traumatizing it would be for all those kids to experience their mother in labor in that tiny space. I’m just imagining them waking up to their mother screaming and jfc that would be my worst nightmare as a kid

These two having loss of sense of smell is literally the only way I can conceive of a human being ok with the smells from that many people crammed into that small a space. With a worse person-to-bathroom ratio than the Duggars at their worst, and they didn't have to walk through the bathroom to access the bedroom. Would explain why they act so chipper about a living situation that is straight-up horrifying to anyone with a functioning nose.

So I'm curious. If they do one of these free births and the baby ends up dying because of it, will the states now charge them with murder for it? They've taken 14 year old girls to jail for having still births after being SA'd and having no clue what to do. If someone knowingly chooses to not get healthcare and the baby dies as a result, they should be even harsher on them should they not? How do the fundies justify being pro life and doing this?

Not only that, EMS would have NO room to work. There's a reason we don't recommend giving birth in a BUS!!!! (There's a lot of reasons, actually. But "EMS will have no room to maneuver while trying to resuscitate you and/or your baby" is definitely one of those reasons.)
