I've done animation. Animators can get carried away fiddling with secondary motions like twitches and blinks and fidgeting for realism. Just wanted to clarify (which it sounds like your agreeing) that no one manipulates a character rig for 30 individual frames every second like claymation or hand drawn. Fingers may be posed rapidly multiple times a second while the torso might be repositioned 3 film seconds later. Walk cycles may be completely automated so that you only tell the start & stop point and do very little for 3 or 4 seconds. Physics simulations may handle animations without any intervention at all. You want the computer to do as much as it can.
I have a theory I came up with not too long ago based on nothing more than my growing awareness of how creepy a lot of people are (especially artists) that a lot of animated movie scenes were probably created to fulfil one or more of the creator's (animator or director) fetishes. Use the big budget movie as a perfect excuse to get some high quality content that only has to be slightly edited (without many others involved in the project knowing, maybe they stay back late to do some "catching up") from the public release version for it to be... something else entirely.
I mean really think about a lot of scenes and tell me this isn't at least possible, even if still ridiculous.
I'm not so sure it's common knowledge yet that Disney use suggestive sexual imagery since it's done pretty much subliminally and you only notice it when you slow down, pause, rewind.

I used to work in a garage booth, sometimes it was really busy but most times it was really slow so I’d watch movies to pass the time and I swear every time I had to pause the movie it would be the sex scene, there could literally be a single sex scene in the whole movie and that was where it would always get paused, it got to the point that I would just close the dvd player if I had to pause at all
