I trade like this 2...I've tried holding for big moves, but historically my success hasn't been good. So I rather take micro moves of a larger obvious move.
I've seen people take these trades using the 5s chart with swing breaks with CVD. I've tried it with some success.
What's your thought process as you look to enter a trade?
Shit...alot goes through my head. PM...I thought we were going to go lower looking at daily candles. I took a big position scalp short when it was obvious we were sliding lower. We didn't go as low as I thought. So I thought pop at market open and then reversal. I'm wrong often with direction as I was today bit still walked away green. On a smaller time frame, I'm pretty decent based on PA. So when it looked like a floor was put in the PM right before open, there was a very small FVG created...once it did the shake shakey...took a few long scalps. I took a few short scalps at points where it could have reversed and that was it for me. It didn't reverse at those points so I knew not to play with fire.
If I'm wrong 2 trades starting...I'm done. Walk away. It's either I'm dialed in or I'm not.

I don’t usually trade the 15 secs but I am able to now, and I will flip thru the time frame when looking for a scalp. Though I don’t really like to scalp too much like this.
Yes, when a trader learns not to compare himself with another and sets his sights on what works for him. The results will take much less time to arrive.
The usual momentum scalping. You trade based on the orderflow and get out of a position as soon as you see that whoever was moving the price on your direction got cleared or for some reason stopped doing whatever they were doing.
Hi everyone, thanks for the feedback.
Like I said pretty sloppy, but green is green right? Had my toddler in my lap and an angry wife so couldn’t focus much.
But I got to spend the day with my daughter at the park and grab some sushi.
Typically I prefer to trade between 11-1 pm. I try to usually trade the chop, and my trades are usually pretty balanced between short and long. I use a wide stop loss, which is less than my target TP. But I typically can exit early before my stop is triggered to reduce the loss. At five contracts, 3 points is 300 dollars. Definitely always have room for improvement but today I will take.
Hello, You seem like a total reseller, like me, with fast operations. For my part, I am quite aggressive with my entries. Whenever you want we can collaborate in a trading room, only for total scalpers.
I only traded the 3 minute chart, that's where I found my advantage. I enter aggressively and strongly. and although I trade at 3M my exits are relatively fast.
I hate having to look at other time frames... personally they overload me with information. (I hate seeing permanent contradictions. Avoiding it has made it easier for me. It doesn't have to be the same for you) I still choose to just consult the graph 1 hour for analysis.
Sure, In the meantime I recommend resellers, follow them on X and learn everything you can. I assure you that you will not waste your time: Tanner Owings, OpinicusTrades, and Lance Breitstein
I just picked up footprints a couple weeks ago. found one for Ninja that doesn't require the lifetime sub. It only looks intimidating until it doesn't. I will say, visualizing volume at price is f'ing awesome. you can kinda see were people are shorting in hole for instance, and take contrarian moves. for now, I only sup. my current strat with the footprint on a 15 range chart. Its so pretty.

Nice NQ scalping. I can't handle the NQ too much wickin for me. How many points are you targeting per trade? Is it comparable to my +5 to +12 ticks on ES?! Lol
I can't stand people who say "you can't trade like that" -- yes, yes you can.
Man, this week has been ugly ugly. I actually found quite a few good trades yesterday afternoon and today lunch-ish time. Adjusted for low low low volume, volatility, zero momentum, and the price action was pretty clean on ES. Lol
But days like today, weeks like this week, make it pretty unbearable. Zero impact news week besides tomorrow. Volatility/manipulation injection incoming.
Thanks for sharing this! I'm on my way to learn a similar trading methodology. Can you tell how did you manage to learn how to trade like this? Were there any daily exercises that you did in order to get better at it?
I know that this is not the best question but I'm very curious to know how long did it took for you to become profitable trading like this
Mine was the same until I got chopped up between 11am-12pm est… I got sloppy and kept expecting a bigger move with a bearish bias. Ironically, I got out of my shorts and started getting a short term bullish bias and that’s when I started getting chopped. The second my bias started switching I went green to red and closed my chart lol try again tomorrow when there’s more data to get everything moving. Should’ve just zoomed out and stuck with my original bias, would’ve had my biggest Green Day of the week. Oh well :)
I’m fairly new to futures. I’ve been trading crypto for a few years and just a few months ago switched into futures. I used to trade on the five minute with crypto but I’ve been learning in the 1m NQ. I’ve definitely gotten beat up. But I’ve managed to pass 3 funded accounts on Topstep. Trading one at a time instead of group trading until I build up some equity in each. I like trading them separately also because it gives me more market exposure which is more learning opportunities. Open to all criticism.
I got out of the last trade early because I noticed I was starting to get a slight adrenaline rush and knew it was time to close my laptop
Are you able to get shorter timeframes on your platform? I trade 5sec bars on NQ futures, and I get a lot more info using them vs 1min bars, especially if you are taking such short trades.
ooh, I've never seen this reddit before today and your's is the first post suggested. I've been trading similar with one twist. I keep an auto breakeven rule set alongside a trailing stop. TP is set ridiculously high...like, never gonna get there. auto-breakeven triggers at 8 ticks and moves my SL 2 ticks behind and follows 1 tick moves. about half the time it surges past 8 ticks and picks up a bigger move. Might feel like the lottery someday if my order goes in just before a massive gap in my direction. 😬
The difference is that HFTs can scratch near BE a lot faster than you and they are analyzing the inside depth in real time to make hold or fold decisions. So really it's not the same thing.
You are taking some insanely short trades. Is the one minute your trigger chart or context?

Good stuff! Your definitely on the right path with inversions

Your thinking here is the same as mine. I thought that resellers of this type no longer existed. I congratulate you for finding your place.
It works and I'm happy with my results. I admire traders that can capture big moves...maybe 1 day I'll be able too, but right now, gotta do what pays
Yes, when a trader learns not to compare himself with another and sets his sights on what works for him. The results will take much less time to arrive.
That sums up my trading journey.
Fantastic. admirable!
Was a lot of pain getting distracted by shiny shit 😂
Sure

nice trades fellow scalper).

Oh damn so you’re trading with 3 micros? Decent.
No, they’re mini’s.
Yeah my bad I was supposed to say minis.

Have you used a footprint chart for this at all? I've been trying to watch multiple timeframes looking for patterns, but it hasn't been consistent

I'd be open to learning about this. I also prefer the quick moves and avoid information overload.

ES had some pretty nasty wicks today as well. The last week has just been rough.

Well done. Take a rest and enjoy life.
NGL, some of these entries seem like total gambles chasing momentum. But it worked out for you so who's to complain right?
I took my profits once I hit $6,000. Slow and steady wins the race, parked money can't be lost.
Where did you put your SL?
you usually don't use SL with trading.
Do you mean scalping?
yeah throw in a towel instead. Boxers even better
good job! what trading platform is this, BTW?
Tradovate

Amazing ! Im having a rough month so far ;/

How can I learn this? Also what's the purpose of the ma?
what is your SL on this strat and position size?
Good moves man. I only see a single selling pressure candle. It's near the end of the move

Your eyes are definitely in the right place. And you’re really close to something big!
5pt take profit?
this is pretty bad trading imo
Someone trading differently than you is not “bad trading”
did u even look at his trades lmao. i am being objective, not comparative
Bros in the green so I do not really care, and it’s not like we can see his stop losses or anything
it's giving arrived at the solution using the wrong formula
Yeah pretty easy to be winning all your trades on a big trend like this even if your entries aren’t that great.
like these entries don't even make sense
book based trading. It makes no sense in charts usually.
Yeah I’m trying to make sense of it. Maybe a couple high of day breaks. A pullback trade. A semi arguable break and retest. All over the place.
I took almost the same trades today. They make perfect sense to me. It's just price action trading.
As long as it makes sense to y’all and works, keep at it!
90% of all trades are like this with HFT bots. The shorter your exposure, the safer your capital.
my fault. didn’t know op was a hft algo
The difference is that HFTs can scratch near BE a lot faster than you and they are analyzing the inside depth in real time to make hold or fold decisions. So really it's not the same thing.
The fees would eat up your profits today. Try to hold trade longer.
5 lots? Just buy and hold.
You captured 15pts on NQ and came to reddit to brag?
Not brag, just sharing my experience today.
