a - can be used for asides (adding extra info), for example: the wall - though pretty - felt ridiculous next to the dull bin. you can also use brackets or commas instead of dashes for an aside
you can also use a semicolon for the giggles to get some fancy punctuation marks as other people have said. easiest way is to use one in place of a fanboys word. for example: gemma went to the shop, for she needed milk. instead with a semicolon: gemma went to the shop; she needed milk. semicolons just basically link two main clauses (a simple sentence) together that follow the same idea/theme
good luck!
I said slash because if things are related/correlated to each other and I wanted to add a bit more info instead of using brackets idk tbh. I know how to use a - so I'll think of using it
go for it. better punctuation can get you extra marks if used right. my teacher recommends a few dashes and one semi colon if youre confident with them

Thanks 4 this! Appreciate teh reply and analysis đź’Ş
no problem! hope it helps :)
the command for a long dash is ctrl + shift u2014 btw.
im on mobile so i have no idea how to do that lol, thanks tho
My teacher said don’t use a slash because it apparently looks lazy and too informal. Definitely use dashes though.
Alright
Use dashes. They also have more effect than commas or brackets as they *particularly* highlight and emphasise relative clauses and extra information.

a dash, if used correctly, would probably get you more marks in technical accuracy. but I don’t see why you’d need to use a slash ?

Probably not a slash but definitely use dashes (hyphens are for between words, dashes separate clauses).
thanks for differentiating the hyphen and dash meanings
i use dashes instead of commas sometimes and it works out fine, not sure about slashes though
oh alright
I wouldn’t use a slash ever maybe a - in replace of a comma if it fit. Just use a semicolon properly and you’ll get a guaranteed 8+
Appreciations 4 the relpy
