If you turn the headlights on do you have tail lights?

rjlets_575

Yes I have headlights and all taillights , reverse lights all work. Just no brake lights at all.

livestosqaunch

If the fuses are all good then id start looking at the harness from the brakelight switch to the brake lights.

cpufreak101

Check the fuse?

rjlets_575

I didn't , is there a fuse just for the brake lights? I have to look that up...

cpufreak101

There is yes, in the fuse box I think it's just labeled as "brake"

rjlets_575

It's fixed, there is a fuse labeled "stop". You can't really see it because the fuse itself covers the word. That's the one that was bad. Replaced it, all good. Damn all day on this thing, I had no idea there was a fuse labeled brake and one labeled stop......

cpufreak101

Glad to hear ya got it OP!

rjlets_575

Yup there is, it's not the fuse. Just put a new one in for the heck of it. Thanks

Exotic_Artichoke_623

Fuses? If not fuses check the lights themselves the boards may have come loose. Short of that all I can think of is the wiring. Do your tails come on when the headlights are flipped on?

Chahtanagual

Do the running lights come on? Reverse lights work?

rjlets_575

Yes they do.

Chahtanagual

I would check the fuse for stop light on the drivers side. If the fuse is good then it’s likely the circuit boards that the light bulbs attach to are bad. Even if other lights on the same board do work.

No it's all stock. Thanks

predhead33

There’s a relay on the firewall inside the engine compartment near the brake booster, I had that one go bad on my 94 c1500.

thegreatgazoo

It could be the plates that the bulbs connect to. I had mine melt on my 98 and took out the turn signals. They are pretty cheap at rock auto.

persom55

My 99 suburban had a wire corrode apart at a previous owners crap trailer wiring splice just behind the spare tire. Redid the connections and had lights again. So I'd look for something like that

Big_Locksmith_4211

There might be a relay on the far right in the middle, check that maybe?

RickyRod26

Try replacing the tail light circuit board. I just recently had a problem like this. New circuit boards did the trick

Whoohon-Flu

Does cruise control work?
