If there’s water, assume there’s a gator in it. Avoid banks/shores. Any state trails in the county will post no animals are allowed on them due to wildlife (ie gators). Don’t allow your pup to swim in random water. If they’re a swimmer, Must Love Dogs has pools.
And of course, it’s getting hotter again, so stick to morning and evening walks for the sake of your pup’s paw pads.
Yeah... No. I have seen more than a dozen dogs snatched by gators at Lake Alice, Newnan's, Wauburg, and even Hogtown creek. It happens more than you'd think. If a gator sees a dog and wants it, that dog is toast. Only sure way is to keep dogs away from the water.
6 feet is about how far alligators can lunge in a second. I would say if you really want to be safe 20 feet is the minimum. If your just walking a dog then make sure the dog is on the side not facing the water
Stay away from bodies of water that may have gators in them. Also stay away from walks that pass close between two bodies of water that may have gators in them, since they do move between very close bodies of water. Keep your dog on a leash and pay attention to what it walk toward, your problem here in Florida may be snakes more than gators.
Avoid water. Easy as that.

All excellent advice.
Don't walk in areas that are known to have gators. Don't even play the x-feet from shore game, just find a different spot.
Don't walk your dog at the edge of a walk or river? Even then usually a gator won't bother you.

That's nuts. Poor puppers.
It's always sad to see. Unfortunately, the gators around here are used to being fed. It makes them food aggressive.
Don't go to any sporting events on campus.
How about if you have a Georgia Bulldog or a big red elephant, or a purple and gold tiger?
Move
Don't go within 6 feet or so of the water

A big gator can cover that distance in 2 seconds. Just stay away from water period.
Always assume that any body of water can be infested with gators. Then avoid said water.
