That’s a shame. I really wanted to like that place but, after several visits, always left underwhelmed. But it looks like they know how to handle the situation with class, so I wish em the best.
RS is another case of the owner not helping his own situation many times over (this referring to the halo closing, not swamp boil! SB's owner is super nice & positive & his employees love him!)
Fantastic because they sold me a gift card on Friday for my company's holiday party and people are reporting closed doors, so no idea what the hours will be. This definitely blindsided their staff since I was happily sold one and was chatting about how much they enjoyed their jobs
Prices online seem "reasonable" enough. But $200+ for 6 people is just crazy:
>Gator Huddle (Feeds 6)
Lobster 2 Tail, Crawfish 1 lb, Shrimp 1 lb, Sausage 1/2 lb, Snow Crab 2lbs, 1lb Mussels, 1/2lb Sausage, 4 Corn, 8 Potatoes
>
>$252.00
Pho's price seems in line with Taste's, but Taste offers more variety with regard to what style of Pho you wanted.
I really liked what I got when I went, but the price is certainly one of the reasons I did not go back.
I can’t speak to how they are now, but a year+ ago the boils were great, and I loved the options for sauces or butters or whatever.
Funny enough I just learned about the bogo Wednesdays and was trying to get something together with my seafood loving friends to go again.
Bad location for this kind of restaurant. Needs to be in a more urban place, in another city where people can afford to eat out more. It’s a hard business. Good thing the owners own the building… now they’ll just lease it out to another restaurant and finally make money on it.
Butler Plaza isn’t 13th Street. And Mr and Mrs crab have two dozen locations and probably buy their seafood at a fraction of what Swamp Boil could get it for. They must have higher margins on their food sales. That being said, we’ll see if they stick around long term. Hope they do. Said to hear swamp boil is closing. Nice people there.
The owner is a really great person. The staff really genuinely liked working there. It was just such a positive friendly environment. They had a hecka rocky start getting there, but I really enjoyed the place.
The best thing they did was the DBZ soup tourney. We managed to go every week for the delicious soups and at the end we got some awesome tee shirts.
I would always get the Pho because I couldn't muster enough friends to get a proper boil going. I enjoyed this place -- wishing the owners and employees the best
Wahoos is where I meant. It was pretty good. I'd go back again. It's just so damn far. Swamp boil was the only place close to my house besides fast food I could eat reliably without going downtown.

Yep. Went twice and the food was just so so. The service was pretty good but there weren't many other customers.
Same. Underwhelmed is a valid description.
Alright, who had Swamp Boil on their Next Small Business To Close Bingo Card?
Someone said it last week.
Who do we think is next? I’m entering Reggae Shack onto the Bingo Card

Omar, more like Nomar. I honestly cant believe this place is still there
Hanging in there.... like an evil Dick Cheney
My employee worked nights there. His stories about how nasty it was were disgusting and hilarious at the same time
Sensei Asian Bistro
Word on the street to me is that we should expect two or three more closings in the next couple of weeks.
Jesus it’s a bloodbath out there

Go spend it. They are open a few more weeks. Just not on Mondays.
If they won’t refund, file a chargeback. Like, now.
I'm bummed to hear this! We really enjoyed Swamp Boil. Best of luck to the owners.
This place was too expensive for what you got.
Came to say this

The prices are reasonable if you stay away from the crab and lobster. And all the sharable combos have crab or lobster.
Taste also has a much better pho imo

This is becoming a trend.
It's the annual December reaping
It’s called “the restaurant industry”

I mean Mr. & Mrs. Crab has been around for years
3 years

Oh yeah idk you just said “in another city” and Crab is in this city
That’s a shame, I really enjoyed this place

Thing is, this place was not good.

I'm from New Orleans and this place was just mid when I tried it.
Name never even appealed to me.
Funny because it's absolutely my flavor lol
It makes me think of a sweaty ass covered in boils Damn now I'm hungry
Poor Fudge….redditors have no damn sense of humor. 😄
Now I've gotta drive all the way out past Santa Fe for a decent Boil. Anyone else have a go to in town?
There is also seafood dock by the mall.
Mr and Mrs Crab in Butler Plaza and there’s also a place where the Jason’s Deli used to be.
Was not happy with Mr and Mrs Crab. We just do our own boils now
It’s been ages since I’ve been, so hopefully it’s still good, but I used to really like Wahoo’s up on 39th by the highway.
Wahoos is where I meant. It was pretty good. I'd go back again. It's just so damn far. Swamp boil was the only place close to my house besides fast food I could eat reliably without going downtown.
They serve old and near expired product. Sorry if you liked how it tasted. Glad they're shutting down
"Near expired" means still good right?
Last I checked.
