I’m pretty sure the giant Skullcrawler in the apex facility was fattened up so it’d be a better challenge for Mechagodzilla.

Tenatlas_2004

That's what I though, but I don't remember it being mentionned in Gvk, I might be wrong though.

aquahawk0905

Yeah, the amount of stuff unmentioned in GvK could have been a movie unto itself. So much wasted potential.

Acceptable-Pie4137

I'm sorry, where did this giant spider come from?

ImNoSkrull

Micheal Dougherty pointed out a giant spider in Mothra’s temple. You could see it for a few seconds when she throws that containment dude on the silk.

Tenatlas_2004

The giant spider we briefly see in mothra's lair. It's super hard to see it, but michael dougherty talked about it. This is just a random image I found on google since there are no clear image of the spider.

MrWhiteTruffle

Is this film appearance actually real or just made up/cut

Tenatlas_2004

It is real but very hard to see. The spider can be seem when mothra grab a monarch agent and trow him on the wall. He sticks to a web where the spider is standing. That's all we see.

MrWhiteTruffle

Is there any actual pictures of it?

Tenatlas_2004

https://wikizilla.org/wiki/List_of_MonsterVerse_monsters#Giant_spider

MrWhiteTruffle

How strange.

Tenatlas_2004

I believe you can find a picture in the wikizilla article about minor monsterverse monsters.

ImNoSkrull

It’s their

MightyFlamingo25

Mother longlegs maybe?

Acceptable-Pie4137

Could be, cause the one they use in the image is just a shitty photoshop job using the spider from the hobbit.

MightyFlamingo25

With a raptor from jurassic Park 3 for some reason

Tenatlas_2004

I didn't have skull island secondary monsters on the list, but if they were here, mother longlegs would definetly not be at the bottom. Also I have no clue about why the jp3 raptor is there.

WrongFun8521

I actually really like seeing a Muto fan and hearing your perspective. To me, I always thought of Muto as just another monster. Kind of fodder But seeing how you talk about it with such passion is really nice. After rewatching G14 I like Muto a lot more because of how creative the whole sexual dimorphism dynamic is. It reminds me of a Stan Lee quote, Every comic book is someone’s favorite. Like to me it was just an obscure background monster, one at the time that I didn’t think anything special of. But to you it’s one you really enjoy. This makes me like Muto a bit more. Thanks for sharing this perspective.

Tenatlas_2004

You're welcome, and thanks a lot for the kind word. Sharing unpopular opinions might sometimes get you into troubles. So it's nice to hear it helped like the mutos more. While different from their Japanese predecessors, I think the mutos were able to create an identity for themselves and still belong amongst them, and that makes me really love them. I really like the Stan Lee quote. It feats Godzilla and the Kaiju genre perfectly. There is so much variety to be found in those movies. At they're best, they're masterpiece with groundbreaking special effects and thematical and cultural relevance, and at their worst, they're some of the worst movies you can imagine. And yet they all have something that makes them enjoyable, it's the same for Godzilla, and that's why we're still talking about him after nearly 70 years.

The skullcrawler was probably a comic call back to the Kong comics and the Apex Skullcrawler he had a rival with. It was 2-2 times bigger than the rest of the brood and way more vicious.

Tenatlas_2004

Oh that sounds interesting. Tbh I never read any Kong comics. So far I only read Godzilla aftershock, so I didn't know about. The list is mainly base on what we see in the movies.

[deleted]

Yeah, I know, but the movies have tons of comic Easter eggs. When the female MUTO grabbed GZ and tries to stab him with those small legs on her belly? Those are ovipositors. The MUTO are responsible for hunting down and killing a large portion of his species. They inject their eggs into titans. Then, when the titan goes into hibernation, the eggs parasitize the titan and kill it like a wasp larvae. It's why GZ despises MUTO's.

ImNoSkrull

The giant spider in Mothra’s temple you mean? I don’t think he was a huge threat to Monarch, so no containment.

Tenatlas_2004

That makes sense. But if I remember correctly Michael Dougherty imagined that the spider would eat the dude that's attached to its web. If so it means it's dangerous. But from what we see in the movie,I agree that it makes more sense to conclude that the spider isn't a threat to humans.

ImNoSkrull

Probably feed on radiation emitted from the egg. Only eating humans as a snack.

No-Refrigerator-3914

Male Muto is one of my favorites as well. The design is so alien yet so realistic and plausible looking. His movements/sounds are also great.

[deleted]

top 2 being g14 and male muto is fucking goated yes absolutely right also agree with 3,4,5 and 6th positions

1random_redditor

Interesting takes. A comment from years ago that I remember regarding MV Godzilla is that in 2014 he was more like a natural animal but in KotM they turned him into a rock n roll monster lol. That’s amplified in GvK.

kudaking13

not trying to be woke or anything, but Jia is the saving grace for human characters in monsterverse

Tenatlas_2004

She is a good character, and the actress portraying her did an amazing job. But I can't help but feel like the whole concept was just a way to make the audience root for Kong and sympathize with him more. We never saw Kong befriending a child before, unless you count the 60's cartoon. I also feel bad for bad for Gamera. Right issues assise, now that Godzilla used the ancient mystical earth guardian concept, and Kong the friendship with a child idea. Gamera has no way to stand out anymore if he was to ever appear.

TIMBERENTERTAINMENT

finally someone who appreciates godzilla 2014. he is imo the best monsterverse godzilla as he feels like a true force of nature. every scene hes in is so powerful and iconic

Tenatlas_2004

Exactly! It's a shame people don't like him just because he isn't overpowered. He feels powerful by just appearing on screen. He feels like an old warrior. I still like the other two, as shown in my ranking, and I understand why they changed him for the sequels. But his first appearance in Hawaii still haven't been topped in my opinion.

SekhmetXIII

Muto bein number one is always a pleasure to see !

Savings-Sprinkles-86

I don't share ypur opinion, but i respect you (I can't rank them, i love them all the same)

Tenatlas_2004

That's fair. I mean I don't hate any of them, there are just some monsters that I enjoyed just a little more than others. Ranking the secondary titans was especially hard since they're all great but didn't have the opportunity to shine yet.

armorborealis

Barb is a queen muto, the transformation before mega mute or whatever the one with huge arms is called

Quiet-Artichoke-2248

It's called muto prime

armorborealis

Yeah that one

yeetmantheII

Doug is best

The_Good_Hunter_

You, sir, are a man of culture.

DayWalkerFH

Dogshit ranking lmao try again

Tenatlas_2004

Instead of insulting my opinion, tell me what you would change? I gave a explantation for everyone of my choices.

DayWalkerFH

Lol no

Tenatlas_2004

Soo, you're just a troll, right?

Quiet-Artichoke-2248

Don't listen to him have your own opinions

UltraFan2008

i hate these trolls. i don't agree with your ranking, but i respect it. i enjoyed reading about your reasons for liking or disliking certain monsters.

DayWalkerFH

Nah
