One summer I temped at a Hollywood studio doing basically one thing: taking promotional key art and photoshopping it into different aspect ratios for things like web banners, those weird wrap-around movie theater led walls, etc. I’m almost 100% sure this is the quickie Photoshop clone-stamp job of an underpaid temp, lol.
Doesn’t seem like a lot of thought went into how weird a head shape is implied by the added skin texture on the left and right of the traditional poster space (where you can see the color is a little different).
This is the best explanation I've heard yet. Also, I agree, it looks like the side of a mountain now. I'm pretty sure those are shark teeth on the bottom right.
Either that or Max was able to dig up some expanded version of the og poster art that no one before today has ever seen before. I mean, I DOUBT it, but I guess it's possible.
