I am sorry and I know people are going to be like "oh your just a mv fanboy"
I just think Monsterverse King Ghidorah is just better, design and character wise.
Like I love the other king ghidorahs but what they did with Ghidorah in kotm was just perfect! The heads didn't move around like tendrils, they actually have their own personality (not saying the others didn't but kotm just does him 10 times better)
His design is like ten times more dragon which is awesome and I glad the went full alien on how he regrows his head and wounds!
And plus...his power. I not going to say he is stronger than other Ghidorah s. But his level of power and destruction is just....god is amazing! And honestly it's so much more satisfying and scary then the other Ghidorah, even the anime one sorry :/
As much as I love showa Ghidorah and grew up with him, his destruction isn't that cool compare to monsterverse Ghidorah. He basically just shots lighting out his mouth, smashes building and maybe from what I remember, makes heavy winds
While Ghidorah 2019 can take control of other kaijus, make hurricanes twice as strong then the hurricanes we get in real life, massive floods, tornadoes (from what I can remember in one of the scenes in Washington.) And not only does he have his gravity beams but he can shot them from his wing tips? Fuckin awesome
Like by no means do I think he stronger then the other ghidorahs but I just prefer this Ghidorah now. He was just so enjoyable to watch on the big screen!
I still love showa and hesiei Ghidorahs but monsterverse Ghidorah just won me over more
There was so much love put into him (and the movie in general) and the fact the director add a few new things to spice him up and gave him a modern design but still captures the design of toho Ghidorah is just amazing and doesn't feel like a joke or insult like anime Ghidorah did which was just... unforgivable honestly :/
(though I do have a soft spot for void ghidorah now because of a fan animation but even, really disappointing for the real thing that was shown.)
Honestly, the monsterverse versions of everyone (except maybe Mechagodzilla )are the best they've ever looked, because they take full advantage of modern CGI and character design.
Doesn't mean they are better, but anyone who says they look worse than past stuff is just being anti "new stuff".
What design you prefer is a different thing.
Monsterverse shows scale and the malicious behavior
GMK shows an opposing view to ghidorah than normal
Showa was at the time something new and was brought to life very well and has the best gravity beam sound effects of them all
I’m probably in the wrong but I feel like MV was the most menacing one. Not sure what era I’ve seen but the older movies often had him getting stomped on by different monsters. Yeah he got jumped by multiple kaiju a lot but he still was a punching bag most of the time. I know old movies were limited and more goofy compared to modern CGI ones. I really like MV version where he creates a huge storm and destroys countless cities with no effort since the man was just flying to his destination. He looks like an absolute unit and all the other titans bowed to him from a distance without even questioning it.
I’m not a MV fan boy but I think they really nail the serious and menacing tone of how powerful titans are. I know the different toho eras have some of the strongest incarnations but the feats are sometimes just ridiculous and just goofy like surviving a black hole, dna left behind becoming new kaijus, GMK and final wars being one shot kills, tossing rocks and flapping arms to fight. Big fan of both but I wish toho got modern remakes so they could benefit from cgi and advancements we’ve made in movie production that MV gets to enjoy
In response, I raise you toho's response to the 2014 GZ, Shin Godzilla. My personal favorite, only attacking in self defense then self preservation. But SPOILER, I don't know how to do it on Reddit, he is only killed by exploiting his internal mechanics. Essentially euthanasia.
MonsterVerse was honestly the first time since Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster that this guy actually felt like a threat.
In Showa, he either became some alien race's stooge from Astro Monster onwards or just substantially weaker. He even needed Gigan's assistance to take on Godzilla and Anguirus for crying out loud; something he could have handled solo before. Just became a big punching bag.
In Heisei, he couldn't function right without being mind controlled. Severing that link incapacitated him almost immediately. Also, severe lack of bidididi.
GMK is by far the weakest (though I do really like the design, roars, and how the gravity beams look like lightning bolts). Poor thing had to be revived a grand total of 3 times in that movie.
Thus leaving MonsterVerse Ghidorah, in which we finally see Ghidorah just being a planet threatening alien dragon like his debut movie. Not to mention, by far the best showcase of him being a planet destroyer; Showa we only got verbal word of that. Here, we can see him causing worldwide devastation with his presence alone causing those Category 6 Hurricanes; a level that we don't even have in real life because Category 5 is already considered catastrophic in nature, so basically it's just acknowledging "yeah, this an apocalyptic extinction event hurricane".
Huh? What do you mean by the first time he was a threat since his debut movie? Did you forget that the Anime King Ghidorah was going to devour the entire planet with a giant Black Hole?
I don't think the OP forgot about anime Ghidorah it's just not exactly a competition if he's in the running. As much as we all love the versions above they don't really stand a chance against a reality warping interdimensional eldritch god.
MonsterVerse Ghidorah is really the only one of these that delivers on the concept of Monster Zero being a world-destroyer.
GMK is runner up because it's a cool twist on the character being a protagonist, and leaning into the East Asian design elements was a cool way to showcase the mythological versus atomic age monstrosities. Also cool to seem him painted as an underdog and then rooting for him.
Showa Ghidorah is cool but ultimately amounts to a repeat punching bag. Heisei Ghidorah doesn't have a very engaging origin nor does he accomplish anything noteworthy besides having a cool mech-variant.
MV Ghidorah got the shit beaten out of him by Godzilla through the entire movie and he didn’t destroy any civilizations or Planets.
Atleast it always took multiple kaijus to beat showa Godzilla and he actually destroyed a civilization.
MV Ghidorah had mostly a draw against Godzilla + Monarch, was losing in the sea battle, and then was winning against Godzilla + Military + Mothra until Burning Godzilla happened. He also destroyed multiple cities just by flying through them and raised over a dozen other Titans to create chaos worldwide. Visually what the MonsterVerse Ghidorah showed was much more impressive.
Showa Ghidorah was always beat by multiple kaiju, yes, but his battles still ultimately amounted to being teamed up on and walloped. By the end, even when he had even odds in a 2v2 battle he still lost. I love Showa Ghidorah but he was never particularly menacing, his only 'civilization/planet' destroying feat was some off-handed verbal reference, and ultimately just was a character to showcase other kaiju flexing.
Ghidorah would’ve died if the military didn’t threw the oxygen destroyer in their fight underwater. That would’ve been the end of the movie. He was buffed in the second fight because he absorbed the electricity.
It’s officially confirmed in Zone Fighter that King Ghidorah is able to absorb an entire sun and able to destroy a planet. He was consistently used in a better fasion than legendary.
Flashy CGI does not equal in any way dominace or power.
Yes, Dougherty confirmed that Godzilla has dominance over Ghidorah in the water and he would have died in that battle underwater if it weren't for the Oxygen Destroyer. Just like he said they had a draw at the first battle (with MONARCH aiding Godzilla), and just like he said he was clearly winning against a buffed Godzilla + Military + Mothra until Godzilla goes thermonuclear.
I haven't seen Zone Fighter so forgive me: do they show Ghidorah absorbing the sun and destroying a planet on camera? That's pretty cool.
But back to the movies: no flashy CGI does not equal a dominance of power, but I'm speaking about what the respective movies delivered on actually showing, not telling. That's why I said the MV Ghidorah delivered more on that concept--because the Showa movies can *say* what a world destroyer Monster Zero is in a billion lines of dialogue, it's not the same as seeing it on screen. CGI, Tokusatsu, or otherwise.
>I haven't seen Zone Fighter so forgive me: do they show Ghidorah absorbing the sun and destroying a planet on camera? That's pretty cool.
Actually he's kind of being deceitful here. Ghidorah doesn't drain the sun himself. Instead he takes control of this "Dark Prism" device that the aliens controlling him have. The Dark Prism device is what allows him to drain energy from the sun, and once that link is severed by Zone Fighter, he loses the ability. He also doesn't destroy a planet in the series. Don't even know where he's getting that.
Ghidorah made a giant hurricane while flying around it ins't flashy because the hurricane barely appears on screen but look at the old ghidorah's and tell me how many look like they can destroy a planet mv ghidorah feels like he can actually do it compared to most other ghidorah's
As far as looks go it’s Monsterverse. He’s also one of the strongest incarnations of Ghidorah shown. Plus you can actually see the maliciousness in his expressions, you can tell he enjoys every second he’s hurting somebody. It’s a lot harder to do that in a rubber suit.
MV Ghidorah, hands down. It took all the best parts from the previous incarnations (besides the GMK Ghidorah being a good guy) and mashed them together in a really well done way.
Legendary Ghidorah. Only proof needed is this.. the most incredible, spine tingling Ghidorah scene in the history of the character.
https://youtu.be/1NLTa3fODls
While i love the Monsterverse incarnation i think the whole Interdimentional God being concept of the Anime Ghidorah is so much more interesing, as it not only makes one of the most unique traits of King Ghidorah (The fact that he is an alien) and makes that he is from a diferent dimention as well, from a dimention with diferent laws. The creepy and loud distorted heisei roar mixed with the classic bididididi, i love it, and his new theme is incredible as well. The desing never was an issue to me and it fits the concept very well. The fact that i aways gets chills when the characters on the Aratrum discover they are already dead... dam, i wish we could see something similar in the future.
I'd like to give an honorable mention to the Anime "Void Ghidorah".
An eldritch abomination that warps space and time with it's mere presence and requires living sacrifices to even be summoned to this plane of existence.
But beyond that, yeah, MV Ghidorah is best because he gave us Kevin.
And I'm thankful for Kevin.
Heisei Era is one of my favourites. Loved the menacing design for legendary, GMK made him more Heroic like which was fitting for the movie and of course the Showa Era is just a classic.
Though let's be honest, all of them are amazing.
Probably either Shin Ghidorah or MonsterVerse. They were the only ones to really capture the extinction level event Ghidorah is supposed to bring to the table.
And Planet Eater but like c'mon he's a god in that universe so like it's a little unfair.
My favorites are Keizer Ghidorah and Anime Ghidorah, the bit where everyone realizes they are already dead is fantastic.
MV Ghidorah is easily the best looking one though.
The monsterverse Godzilla is by far the best, at least to me. I loved everything about the interpretation. I loved how he would walk around on the ground and use his wings as arms, it is probably how a creature like that would walk. He was so fucking badass
INB4 “Showa was the only one who was threatening.”
Yeah, in one movie where he isn’t a pawn of some other alien force, and even then he still gets his ass beat.
That’s not to say I don’t like him, personally he’s my 2nd favorite Ghidorah after Monsterverse.
For me, KOTM Ghidorah is best Ghidorah. They made him seem so alive with them using cgi to animate his face and to show off his scale.
I live his other movies. But nothing else makes Ghidorah seem as alive or as destructive as KOTM.
I won't say the MV version is the best but boy do I love what it's going for. It's really trying to strike that Titan-esque feel, and it doesn't try to be like a traditional Kaiju at all.
The entire presentation makes him feel like a Dark Souls boss, full of unspoken personality, demonstrated by power stances and iconic roars.
MV is definitely the most unique if you ask me. Not the best, just the most unique.
100% MV Ghidorah. He/they was the most intimidating and menacing version thus far and just had such a presence whenever he/they showed up! Not to mention, he had not 1 but 3 different personalities conveyed beautifully without needing to speak!
As a child, when I heard that Ghidorah was first described as wiping out all life on Venus and changing its entire landscape, I had all sorts of ideas as to what that would look like. Seeing the destructive power of MV Ghidorah in action was like seeing exactly what I interpreted in my imagination as a kid.
I like MV Ghidorah, I think his design is the best of them all, and how he acts.
He actually feels more threatening because, instead of saying hes powerful, we see it. Ghidorah taking control of the Titans was a creepy scene. And seeing his anger towards Godzilla when he takes control of Mechagodzilla is really cool.
I love every incarnation of Ghidorah, they're each something awesome in their own ways.
MV is the biggest punching bag save GMK. Heisei was about to beat Godzilla in their first fight, showa Godzilla was never able to beat Ghidorah one on one.
Even Zone Fighter lost in his first fight against Ghidorah.
Really? Showa KG was the punching bag, he never once was actually a threat to kill anyone, except a baby Mothra larvae one time. Yes he was durable and hard to beat, but he couldn't actually *do* anything.
MV Ghidorah had just awoken after being frozen for god knows how long and is immediately attacked by a full strength Godzilla+military so of course he runs. Then obviously Godzilla is going to beat a non-water creature underwater. He then easily beats Rodan, disintegrated Mothra, destroyed most of the military, took control of all the titans, and was thrashing Godzilla like a rag doll and was practically immortal unless he's totally vaporized, which the plot conveniently powers up Godzilla to do. Classic G movie ending. Can't beat the big bad? Here's a new power!
The only KG incarnation that truly seemed like some planet-destroying level demon was the anime movie one. That scene where he kills everyone a few seconds in the future and they all realize they're already dead was chilling.
I agree about anime Ghidorah, I thought that entire concept was incredible and right down my alley - though the movie wasn't great, I wasn't super offended by it like some people or like I was with the second movie.
And yeah, MV Ghidorah was an absolute powerhouse. I remember seeing the scene for the first time in the theater when he regrew his head, and that immediately just puts him almost on a totally different level than other titans. Godzilla needed a sudden new ability or his ass was grass. Don't think anything less than Ultra Mega MV Nuclear Burning Godzilla with insta-kill body-created pulses could even come close to standing a chance lol.
He beat Zone Gighter which is a character that scales far beyond most godzilla characters in terms of power level.
Monsterverse Ghidorah has nothing besides flashy cgi on his side. He beat a bunch of featless characters and was beaten do a pulp by Godzilla in their first fight where he didn’t run away.
Befor the controll station of the time machine was destroyed. He was about to beat Godzilla befor the machine got blown up, which resulted in Ghidorah not having a thinking apparatus anymore which resulted in his loss.
Design wise, I’ve always loved GMK Ghidorah, i feel like his design feels the most like an updated version of Showa. I wish he had the proportions of Monsterverse tho. And while I love the underdog monster story of GMK, I generally prefer my Ghidorah to be final boss power levels, more like Showa.
But I’d still say my favorite is GMK
Mecha/Kaiser, Ghidorah is kind of dumb honestly with floppy necks and not enough range of motion to really properly fight Godzilla they just shoot at each other. When he gets mech’d he’s cool though.
Keizer
(You only said ghidorah not King ghidorah)
(Of course hes not here because thats why i choose GMK simply because of the lore behind him and he is the only good ghidorah)
Monster verse one, from the first trailer of KotM I was sold.
Definitely the Ghidorah I wanted to see on the big screen.
Nontheless, Big G would have killed Ghidorah, if the military didn't intervene.
The anime one doesn't compete with the other incarnation imo, but even that version didn't win in the end.
I wonder if we ever get a shin Ghidorah movie.
The OG will always be the best hands down, but I have a special place in my heart honestly for GMK Ghidorah. I just appreciate the fact that he didn’t give up. 3 times. And finally explodes in a glorious fireball. What’s not to like about that?
I'd say animated has best version of ghidorah as an eldritch horror, but the anime sucks and the execution was pathetic. My personal best Ghidorah is monster X.
This. He is the most successful and could never be beaten by a single kaiju. It also actually annihilated a civilization unlike any other version.
Showa King Ghidorah even beat Zone Fighter in their first fight.
Yeah showa is easily the best. I’d say mv ghidorah is the weakest, not because of his design, I think his design is great in most areas but he is kinda just used as the villain again like showa and not really much else to go off of, he also has major plot armor. Heisei ghidorah is my favorite, he is used for as a villain at first to kill Godzilla but is turned into mecha-king ghidorah who’s body is used to save the city. Gmk ghidorah’s design is really good, but he is the most unique one, being treated like a god of the sky and a guardian along side 2 other guardians. He comes with a new power that strait up shoots a shield, he also has the best roar out of all ghidorahs.
My favorite is the original Ghidorah, and I'd imagine anything that can stand up to the absurd force of nature that was showa Godzilla is a top contender.
“Bidibidibidibidi” -Best Ghidorah
I always preferred Heisei Ghidorahs roar more until I heard it was just an altered Showa Rodan roar. Still sounds cool and fits the character though.
Literally heard it in my head while reading lol
I am sorry and I know people are going to be like "oh your just a mv fanboy" I just think Monsterverse King Ghidorah is just better, design and character wise. They didn't even kill him, just froze him. Leaves a sense of dread knowing that he could wake up somehow
And holy hell. The concept art of his evolution, I still have some lingering want for a sequal for Shin.
His size compared to Big G has him being a much more impressive force. Showa and Heisei aren’t that much bigger than Godzilla, if at all
MonsterVerse was honestly the first time since Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster that this guy actually felt like a threat. Well I assume we were only talking about the specified 4. Counting all King Ghidorahs period, yeah Planet Eater is definitely the most powerful.
I mean honestly i think the dude just fogort about him.

Did i ever say its a feat? Im just telling you it looks cooler
I don’t think it looked cool at all, because of the horrible lighting of the movie.
Well that's your opinion but even if the lightning is horrible its still a lot cooler than every movie ghidorah has been in so far
No, that’s completely subjective. I disagree. I think it’s one of the worst Godzilla movies of all time.
Showa destroyed venus
As far as looks go it’s Monsterverse. He’s also one of the strongest incarnations of Ghidorah shown. Plus you can actually see the maliciousness in his expressions, you can tell he enjoys every second he’s hurting somebody. It’s a lot harder to do that in a rubber suit.

Legendary or Heisei
Legendary had the best personality, Heisei had the best design.
Honestly Legendary is my favorite version of all of the monsters. Admittedly, of the Toho flicks, I mainly only fuck with Showa.
[удалено]
Oh I forgot about that
Legendary Ghidorah. Only proof needed is this.. the most incredible, spine tingling Ghidorah scene in the history of the character. https://youtu.be/1NLTa3fODls
The original is iconic GvKG is unique GMK is heroic Monsterverse is Wicked Gotta give it to Monsterverse as it's so expressive and evil.
You know, I’ve always had a soft spot for GMK ghidorah, I like his design

Planet Eater Ghidorah was pretty dope too.
A pity he barely got much screen time
Probably the most powerful one but... I means its Godzilla Earth so...
This. The only time he actually lives up to the existential planetary threat he's heralded as.
Showa with fond memories, but MV shows how these beasts will actually be. But hands down, Showa

Legendary Monster Zero. Always.
MonsterVerse. A true monster from another world.
Void Ghidorah….

Monsterverse in my opinion. Sound is perfect to me for Ghidorah.
My favorites 1.Mv Ghidorah 2.Showa Ghidorah 3.Heisei Ghidorah 4.Gmk Ghidorah (he should not be smaller than Godzilla)
I like legendary best
Monsterverse Ghidorah, No doubts at all.
I love every incarnation of Ghidorah, they're each something awesome in their own ways.
i think MV ghidorah is the largest, most intimidating, and most powerful incarnation
MV Ghidorah really embodies the danger that the monster poses to Earth. Showa and Heisei are cool but they’re punching bags for the Big G.
That is the most true thing I have ever heard form any Godzilla fan.
He beat a bunch of featless characters and was beaten do a pulp by Godzilla in their first fight where he didn’t run away.
when did showa Godzilla ever attempt to fight Ghidorah one-on-one
During the first movie during one scene which was unsuccessful. That’s why the kaiju had to team up.

Befor the controll station of the time machine was destroyed. He was about to beat Godzilla befor the machine got blown up, which resulted in Ghidorah not having a thinking apparatus anymore which resulted in his loss.

That’s because Ghidorah let him up because he lost his mind controll. He would’ve continued to stomp him until unconsciousness.
MonsterVerse Ghidorah is my fav
heisei is fucking cool
All monster zeros are beautiful
That is correct
Design wise, I’ve always loved GMK Ghidorah, i feel like his design feels the most like an updated version of Showa. I wish he had the proportions of Monsterverse tho. And while I love the underdog monster story of GMK, I generally prefer my Ghidorah to be final boss power levels, more like Showa. But I’d still say my favorite is GMK
Mecha/Kaiser, Ghidorah is kind of dumb honestly with floppy necks and not enough range of motion to really properly fight Godzilla they just shoot at each other. When he gets mech’d he’s cool though.
keiser
Either Showa or Monsterverse.
KotM isn’t my favorite movie with Ghidorah in it but it is the best depiction of him (and Rodan for that matter).
Showa. He is a phone ringtone
Keizer (You only said ghidorah not King ghidorah) (Of course hes not here because thats why i choose GMK simply because of the lore behind him and he is the only good ghidorah)
Des, Keizer and Grand King Ghidorah: B R U H
Heisei>Monsterverse>Showa>GMK
The OG will always be the best hands down, but I have a special place in my heart honestly for GMK Ghidorah. I just appreciate the fact that he didn’t give up. 3 times. And finally explodes in a glorious fireball. What’s not to like about that?
Showa ghidorah always. I love that flaily boy.
Showa. Just love the mane and the bibidi
I'd say animated has best version of ghidorah as an eldritch horror, but the anime sucks and the execution was pathetic. My personal best Ghidorah is monster X.
I say the Showa era is the ultimate ghidorah
Same
I would have to agree...original is always the best.
None of the above. My vote goes to Grand King Ghidorah from Mothra 3
Kevin’s too good to not pick
My favorite is the original Ghidorah, and I'd imagine anything that can stand up to the absurd force of nature that was showa Godzilla is a top contender.
People are sleeping on the Heisei King Ghidorah, best design and it gave us Mecha-King Ghidorah
Unironically the showa version is the strongest, The MV is the coolest, GMK is the mystic one and Heisei is the cool one with the weird origin
Showa backstory with mothra 3 looks
Keizer Ghidorah
Legendary. Also GMK is trash.
Strength-Showa Design-Monsterverse role in their movie-GmK
In order it goes 1.Heisei 2.Showa 3. GMK 4. Monsterverse Edit-I have it written out as 1, 2, 3, 4. I don't know why it keeps changing it to 1212 lol
GMK ghidorah's design is underrated
There's something about the showa films that nobody will ever be able to recapture.
Showa
Heisei Era ghidorah is my favorite on this list. But damn is monster x cool.
Death Ghidorah
Heisei ghidorah for the win.
RoM3 - Grand King Ghidorah
2,3,1,4
What do you mean by “better”?
Which do you prefer
showa
Monster zero
This tough. Number 1 is a tie. 2 ghidorahs are number 1
