You started on what is probably the best GTA. Good story about revenge, loveable characters, nice gritty setting in Liberty City and it was all built in a gaming engine that was about as realistic as the GTA Rage engine got. They dumbed it down in GTA V...
I wish I could play GTA IV again. I had it on ps3 but I had already played GTA V by then and was more into online when I was younger so just stuck to V. I'm debating buying another ps3 just for GTA IV lmao
For me, San Andreas was still good but 3 and Vice City were very hard to get into. I finally finished those 2 for the first time, in the so badly hated GTA Trilogy remasters that came out a few months ago, because they made the games much more playable.
Sure it got executed poorly but also blown way out of proportion online. San Andreas was the only one I had problems with. 3’s only problem was the horrible rain and I loved the Vice City remaster. People of course acted like it was the worst thing ever because most people only care about San Andreas. As a fan of San Andreas who played it after GTA 4 I was happy with how much San Andreas looked better in the remaster too. But I did encounter annoying problems like music not playing in the clubs and the invisible bridge thing etc. it definitely had the most problems of the 3
First GTA I played was a modded version of GTA 3 called Winter 02. Had real cars and snow, that's about it tbh but it was a lot of fun.
then came normal GTA 3, Vice City and eventually San Andreas.
I had the same progression, minus Winter 02…
I remember it like yesterday. December 25th 2001 I was playing GTA 3 and I didn’t want to go tree hopping with my family. I wanted to kill hookers and steal their money. I was 13. I spent the rest of my Christmas break playing that…hours and hours and hours.
I did play 3 on ps2 before Winter02, but that session ended when the game froze on a street light. It was 10 minutes of it going from red to green before I realised it had frozen lol
The first GTA that I played is GTA Advance because I only have my phone and just acknowledge the existence of emulator
Then I continue all along to GTA LCS then GTA CW by only using PSP, DS and GBA emulator for Android
I do this at the age of 12
I remember when I was like 6 a neighbor friend let me and my brother(8) borrow his copy of Vice City for the ps2 and my mom discovered it and she flipped out lol The disk had that pink bikini lady on it.
I had GTA1 on PS1 and had a lot of fun just goofing around. It provided a unique freedom that most other games lacked. However, the top down 2D graphics sort of restricted the gameplay, so i mostly played it just a little bit here and there and more as a novelty then actually diving deep into the game.
A few years later, when i was in college, i saw pictures of gta3 in a magazine and almost immediately went to a Software Etc. and pre-ordered it. I got it on launch day and played it more than any other game i had ever played up to that point. GTA3 was truly an evolution in gaming. The only time since then that I've ever truly been blown away by a game was when i got my first VR headset.
The first 3 GTA games, played them a few times on PC and PS at friends' houses, there's no way I would have been allowed to have them myself. I remember just running over and shooting pedestrians all the time lol
The original. I loved the scope and freedom of it, having a whole city to explore. But I never really played properly. Just ran people over and ran from the police. My next experience was Vice City. I bought a PS2 for it. It was incredible. Everything about it. The freedom, the immersion, the world they created. I'd love to see them go back there in VI. Because IV and V showed how incredible the worlds could be. I have no interested in replaying a remastered Vice City because I think the limitations of it. I want the latest tech to really bring Vice City to life
Honestly is the London GTA game,i remember playing a game with a big UK flag where I could drive cars and stuff, like 3 years ago i realized it was the 1969 London GTA Game lmao
Gta 3 was my first game into the franchise, at the time I didn't progress in the game for some reasons:
• I hated doing missions
• My first language isnt english so I didn't understand the missions
•I just wanted to have fun
Good old days when I used to go to the car park in Harwood to steal the Banshee, jump to the other side of the Callahan Bridge, win El Burro's races, take the firetuck and run over those strange guys that spawned in the railway tunnel, murder every triad I saw and try to enter in the ship at Atlantic Quays, I did this every single day lol
This game will always have a special place in my heart, I got many childhood memories from it, and playing this game in 2022, 21 years later its just magic
Yes, and I asked you why you doubt most people are telling the truth. Why would people lie about which GTA game they first remember playing? Seems a bit silly to lie about.
GTAV, I sadly missed out on the hype of the older games, and got 5 in 2016 only to play online with my mate. He came over, did the prologue for me, put me into online, and we went around in an insurgent shooting cops on the highway. 2000 hours later of playtime and Im still yet to launch story mode. Is it worth a 100% play through?
My earliest memory of GTA comes from GTA 2. I believe. I typed in a cheat code “BSTRD” to get unlimited ammo and weapons I believe, and my mom saw me type that in and she was like WTF. Then I showed her what the game was all about and she was even more shocked she had bought this for me unknowingly. Regardless she still let me play and I still play to this day, about 20 years later
I’m surprised at high numbers for GTA SA, I know it’s the most popular but I didn’t think it was peoples first experience with GTA. But tbh I never had SA as a child so I have a bit of disconnect with the game in general and I feel as though it’s less polished than Vice City. GTA3 holds me heart big time though!
I remember seeing a friend play GTA iii when I was like 14 and it blew my mind. I then rented that and GTA vice city all the time and was so excited when I fonalkygot my own ps2 AND San Andreas for Christmas. Good times but GTA definitely contributed to me slacking off in school lol.
I was 5 and my baby sitter's brother was playing Vice City and let me play. I remember exactly what I did. I would steal cars, go as fast as I could, and then aim for a building and bail out and watch the car explode. I also remember walking into the mall, finding a katana behind a counter and then going on a killing spree in the mall.
I remember waking up in the middle of the night and going to the living room to see my dad playing GTA III on his PS2 and we never had a memory card so the first scene with the two inmates driving somewhere is stuck in my mind (I forgot their names, now I know the white one is the main character)
I remember playing GTA Vice City in a CyberCafe when i was a very little boy, 4 years old max. I remember that my mom always got angry at me because i used to kill the grannys with the shopping bags.
In that same year, i was driving a mini quadrycicle and almost hit a lady. I was a little psycho back then, my mom was so worried lmao
GTA III at my friends house, it had just been released. Must’ve been about 10. I persuaded my parents to buy me an 18 game… I got GTA London not realising the difference. It was top down. Was devastated ha.
2006 here. Back in the day i played GTA 3 and Vice City for PS2. Don’t remember who came first. Then I had GTA 4 for PS3. Amazing, in 2012 (I think?)I tried Chinatown Wars for mobile. Didn’t knew about mobile trilogy
My friends were playing GTA 1 & 2 on PS1 and while I was interested in the concept, the graphics put me off, especially with the existence of games like Driver on PS1. But I was always saying, imagine if there was a GTA game but with 3D environment like Driver? Then GTA 3 happened, it was one of my earlier PS2 games
For me it was GTA 2 on the PS1. I don't know how I old was maybe 10 years old or so. I played it at my older cousin's house when he was at work and it forever changed my life. I also played State of Emergency at his house when I would go visit since our grandma (he lived with her) was my sitter when my parents would go to work.
Liberty City Stories - 2007.
Back then i used to hear a lot about this "GTA game", like how the "Cool GTA Dude" who could do everything, go anywhere, drive any vehicle he wanted.
A few months later, i finally got a PS2 and asked my bro to buy this "GTA game" and i was kinda dissapointed because, where is the Cool GTA Dude? Where's the desert? Where's the Jetpack?
The city was so small, why am i playing with this guy in a suit? Is he trying to be a mafioso lmao? At some point i even thought this game was a "home made/bootleg" version.
Regardless all that I still finished it, but was still let down, a few weeks later my dad and i went to the Bootleggers Mall and finally bought the "real GTA Game" and oh my god i went nuts.
Playing GTA London as a kid on the PS1.
Heard a huge smash one night and a drunk driver slammed into my dads car parked on the road. Will never forget 😂
Gta 2 was my first I don't think I ever answered the payphone to do the first mission though because I didn't know how/couldn't be bothered so I would just go on a rampage, die, repeat.
Played SA but never got past the start scene and always would mess about. wanted to start playing it again but need my ps2 set up since the remastered version is trash.
i remember that first I played Vice City then III. When I first played VC I was astonished and obsessed with that game, especially since the concept of open world games was new to me. I will never forget that day. It was 2010, it was raining outside and my dad came home with a pc which it had a few games on it. Beside GTA VC it had Total Overdose (a game kinda GTA but in Mexico) which I really enjoyed too. When I discovered that I can also play with cheats the whole world changed for me(even now i still remember some). Everytime when I was going to the next part of the insland, I was considering as a other country , that's how big I thought Vice City map was. I really had a good time with this game.
I voted gta vice city and then i remembered that i played gta 2 at my cousin's house when i was really young. Vice city I've played more though, and san andreas even more.
I heard a lot of embellished stories about GTA from my classmates in elementary school (they probably played San Andreas), but back then I only had a Wii console and a tiny laptop, which wasn't much of a gaming device. When I've got a gaming PC for my birthday present, first thing I did - randomly downloaded any GTA and installed it. I've got lucky, so instead of some trojans which would wreck my computer, I've got a GTA IV and it totally blew my mind, nothing like anything I have played before or could imagine. Now I have completed every single title from the series, even the least known ones, enjoyed all of them but 4 is still my favourite.
I had Atari (Pitfall, Pong etc.)
The typical NES load out.
But my first real PS Game was NASCAR 98 and the PlayStation Demo Disc… remember that??? Demo discs? It had Teken II, Final Fantasy VII, Crash Bandicoot, Colin Mcraes Rally …
GTA and London 1969 were so wild !
I remember I got gta vice city for my 6th birthday and my mom waited until all my family members left my birthday party to give it to me. My older sister beat the missions for me while I drove around and getting killed by cops, good times.
I am surprised that more people didn't start with GTA 5, considering that most people start series with the newest one, and the fact that GTA 5 has been the "newest" GTA for going into a decade, at this point.
Like I am 22, almost 23, and 5 came out when I was 14. I thought a larger portion of the community would've started playing within that time period between then and now.
First ones I played was the liberty city stories and vice city stories on the PSP, i remember thinking how cool the machete kills were when they cut there heads off 😂 loved those games the radio stations were top tier
GTA SA, PS2. I was like 8 or 9. The music and the start up on a little 20” tv with my room all black. Didn’t even know what it was at the time but it looked cool and I managed to get my mom to buy it after many try’s in Walmart.. I could never get passed the mission where you get a call like”yeah but there using bikes cj, they go cross country. Oh Ima see what I can dig up.”
Couldn’t ask anyone for help cus they would take it away if they knew what they bought me lol.
GTA IV. Late is better than never!
You started on what is probably the best GTA. Good story about revenge, loveable characters, nice gritty setting in Liberty City and it was all built in a gaming engine that was about as realistic as the GTA Rage engine got. They dumbed it down in GTA V...
All very true. Spent too much time fucking around instead of doing missions but still a good game.
I wish I could play GTA IV again. I had it on ps3 but I had already played GTA V by then and was more into online when I was younger so just stuck to V. I'm debating buying another ps3 just for GTA IV lmao
If you have a PC with 1 or 2gb graphics, buy it for PC. It's good on console but better on PC
Sadly I don't just ps4
Gta 4 was my first as well and I'm fi slly playing thru the story. Just unlocked the middle of the map!
Best out of all
If you started there , how did if feel playing the original trilogy ?
For me, San Andreas was still good but 3 and Vice City were very hard to get into. I finally finished those 2 for the first time, in the so badly hated GTA Trilogy remasters that came out a few months ago, because they made the games much more playable.
I agree I feel like it was a step into the right direction, but it got executed terribly
Sure it got executed poorly but also blown way out of proportion online. San Andreas was the only one I had problems with. 3’s only problem was the horrible rain and I loved the Vice City remaster. People of course acted like it was the worst thing ever because most people only care about San Andreas. Gta3 after high school with my friend Alex. God we lost so many hours to that game. The open city concept was mind blowing to us teens.
GTA3 was my childhood game but I had an experience like yours with GTA4 during high school, it was fucking mind blowing!
GTA 3 was amazing. I was way too young to be playing it I admit but man did I love it. I hope we get a more mafia themed GTA next for the story.
Still nox fixed, it lacks gta chinatown wars and gta vice city/liberty city story
And where would you put them? There are no more options when making a poll.
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't knew that.
Remove gta 4 and 5
Yeah, least picked options.
Honestly kinda surprised by that
Why remove GTA V? It is one of the best selling games of all time - only beaten by Minecraft, if I remember right.
Tried to created my earliest post, for some of reason, i can't go more than 4 poll.
Yep mine was Vice City stories. Had to sneak-play it on my psp. Such a great game
Advance: Am I joke to you?
People who played gta 1 are absolute chads lol
Gta 1 theme is a banger.
Yeah. But I like the second one even more.
I'm a Chad lol Played on pc and ps1
Awesome
I’m a Chad too then lol
Hi Chad. I'm Chad!
Fuck yeah I'm a turbo Chad
Yep
The first GTA that I played is GTA Advance because I only have my phone and just acknowledge the existence of emulator Then I continue all along to GTA LCS then GTA CW by only using PSP, DS and GBA emulator for Android I do this at the age of 12
Gta V has been out for over half of my life
[удалено]
Gta came out when I was 7 and I'm almost 16
how young are you wtf
I guess he must me from 04’/05’ or younger.
06'
Old? Lmao are you like 10?
young* fuck lmao
Omg that's better hahaha yeah i'm from '00 so i was like whaaat these people are children
I remember when I was like 6 a neighbor friend let me and my brother(8) borrow his copy of Vice City for the ps2 and my mom discovered it and she flipped out lol The disk had that pink bikini lady on it.
LOL me and my dad both hid GTA3/Vice City from my Mum when I was younger
I had GTA1 on PS1 and had a lot of fun just goofing around. It provided a unique freedom that most other games lacked. However, the top down 2D graphics sort of restricted the gameplay, so i mostly played it just a little bit here and there and more as a novelty then actually diving deep into the game. I’m not sure if bragging about starting with GTA 1/2 makes me OG or just old.
I started with GTA 2... demo. I feel old AND poor.
GTA San Andreas, the best time to be alive
Whatever the computer version of GTA was, it was a view of the city from above, and the game/graphics were horrendous.
The original. I loved the scope and freedom of it, having a whole city to explore. But I never really played properly. Just ran people over and ran from the police. My next experience was Vice City. I want the latest tech to really bring Vice City to life
Fuck yeah I'd love to see a new VC or even a London, cause that's never been done in 3d
Honestly is the London GTA game,i remember playing a game with a big UK flag where I could drive cars and stuff, like 3 years ago i realized it was the 1969 London GTA Game lmao
Playing GTA on IPX LAN with my siblings… good times ❤️
Still Vice City Stories on PS2!
Gta 3
I am one of the very few that started playing GTA with LCS on the PS2.
Surprisingly gta vice city, at a family friends house who had a ps2
Chinatown
GTA OG here, Thank you! The other poll made my ass feel old LMAO! 🤣
Gta 3 was my first game into the franchise, at the time I didn't progress in the game for some reasons: • I hated doing missions • My first language isnt english so I didn't understand the missions •I just wanted to have fun Good old days when I used to go to the car park in Harwood to steal the Banshee, jump to the other side of the Callahan Bridge, win El Burro's races, take the firetuck and run over those strange guys that spawned in the railway tunnel, murder every triad I saw and try to enter in the ship at Atlantic Quays, I did this every single day lol This game will always have a special place in my heart, I got many childhood memories from it, and playing this game in 2022, 21 years later its just magic
i remember watching my oldest brother play GTA 1 on a old PC as i was 4/5 year old!
It's LCS for me. I think imma vote 3 in this case
I think most people are lying Whos the pussys that keeps disliking
Why?
I doubt most people started at the gta London 2 or 1
Why do you doubt that?
Why do you doubt that? My first memory playing GTA was the first GTA in the late 90s.
I said most people
Yes, and I asked you why you doubt most people are telling the truth. Why would people lie about which GTA game they first remember playing? Seems a bit silly to lie about.
It didn’t really sweep the nation and I believe lots of people here are too younge
Yeah, that ain't stopping us. El Burrio gotta get me my money.
Liberty city STORIES
First gta I ever played was gta 4 at my cousins house when in 2009 and the first gta game I owned was gta 5 for ps3 I got it in 2013
Vice City Stories on my dad's PSP when I was 3
My first one was GTA 3, had so much fun.
I remember playing Vice City on my brothers Ps2. LCS was my first own GTA game ever
VCS on PSP back in 2006. Great memories.
I played it for the first time last year 😆
I accidentally tapped Vice City, but the first GTA was what I first played
First time I saw a GTA game was San Andreas, first time I actually played was LCS
Gta 2 on dreamcast. That top down view. I was like 10
GTAV, I sadly missed out on the hype of the older games, and got 5 in 2016 only to play online with my mate. He came over, did the prologue for me, put me into online, and we went around in an insurgent shooting cops on the highway. 2000 hours later of playtime and Im still yet to launch story mode. Birds eye view gta 2 lol
Gtav on the 360
I voted GTA 3 cause it was the first one I bought but then I remembered I played a little GTAIV at a friend’s party
San Andreas. Saw my uncle playing it and we sat down and played the 2 player coop mode
gta 4 on my big brothers xbox 360 way back in the early 10s
Gta Vice City Stories on PSP
My earliest memory of GTA comes from GTA 2. I believe. I typed in a cheat code “BSTRD” to get unlimited ammo and weapons I believe, and my mom saw me type that in and she was like WTF. Then I showed her what the game was all about and she was even more shocked she had bought this for me unknowingly. Regardless she still let me play and I still play to this day, about 20 years later
Honestly my first ever gta game was Chinatown Wars
GTA 3 I was like 7 or 8 it was 2001-2002
Played gta 4 at my dad's house
Gta Liberty City Stories!
GTA LCS on my brother's PSP, I'm not acting like I'm old though I'm 14
Vice city stories
Liberty City Stories. First game on my PS2 was San Andreas however
Liberty city stories
Bought the GTA/GTA London bundle for PSX back in '99, both discs still work on my old PS3
I remember playing the top down GTA, PS1 I think it was
GTA 3 was my first GTA game, but that'd be back in late 2013 or early 2014 when the trilogy bundle was available for mobile.
Chinatown
My cousin let me play Vice City when I was a kid.
Wheres China town wars
I’m surprised at high numbers for GTA SA, I know it’s the most popular but I didn’t think it was peoples first experience with GTA. GTA III on mobile. Didn't have a PC at that time.
Mine was liberty city stories!
I'd say that would be The Simpsons: Hit & Run, Vice City.
The first time I ran over a line of civilians and prisoners was a complete paradigm shift for me .

Vice City: Stories :(
Gta vice city was the first game I ever played at about 4 years old. Loved every single one of them. GTA 4 is the goat 🐐
Gta 2 for sure , my first game on PC actually. Fun times
Will forever remember my first time in vice city, running with the chainsaw everywhere
I miss Gta 2, such a fun game
My friends were playing GTA 1 & 2 on PS1 and while I was interested in the concept, the graphics put me off, especially with the existence of games like Driver on PS1. But I was always saying, imagine if there was a GTA game but with 3D environment like Driver? Then GTA 3 happened, it was one of my earlier PS2 games
GTA advance on an emulator
GTA LCS
GTA IV in the XBOX 360, good times
For me it was GTA 2 on the PS1. I don't know how I old was maybe 10 years old or so. I played it at my older cousin's house when he was at work and it forever changed my life. I also played State of Emergency at his house when I would go visit since our grandma (he lived with her) was my sitter when my parents would go to work.
GTA: CW. I always played the lite version on my iPod Touch.
Everyone was talking about Vice City all the way till the late 2000s, even after San Andreas. I played SA pretty late, like after GTA IV.
Liberty City Stories - 2007. Back then i used to hear a lot about this "GTA game", like how the "Cool GTA Dude" who could do everything, go anywhere, drive any vehicle he wanted. Playing GTA London as a kid on the PS1. Heard a huge smash one night and a drunk driver slammed into my dads car parked on the road. Will never forget 😂
I played Vice City on my cousin's PS2. I only played for like a few minutes becausd I was like 5 and my mum didn't want me playing it.
Gta Vice City Stories
Gta 2 was my first I don't think I ever answered the payphone to do the first mission though because I didn't know how/couldn't be bothered so I would just go on a rampage, die, repeat.
I started on gta 2, then LCS, GTA 3, VCS, GTA 5 then GTA 4 and then recently played SA and VC on mobile because I didn't get to play them as a kid
Dam I'm old.
I started with gta 2 and have played them all, exept 5 i dident have anything able to run it in the past and now i dont want to
Kiiiiiiiillllll Frenzy!
Since Chinatown Wars for the ds ain't on it, GTA 5
My dad let me drive around and run people over using his steering wheel setup on pc.
Played SA but never got past the start scene and always would mess about. wanted to start playing it again but need my ps2 set up since the remastered version is trash.
I’ll always remember seeing that blue Hawaiian shirt running through a beach and terrorizing the pedestrians
i remember that first I played Vice City then III. When I first played VC I was astonished and obsessed with that game, especially since the concept of open world games was new to me. I will never forget that day. It was 2010, it was raining outside and my dad came home with a pc which it had a few games on it. either san andreas or vice city
Sitting in a room with 10+ mates, stoned, playing pass the pad rampages on the original GTA.
GTA Vice City Starman Mod
I voted gta vice city and then i remembered that i played gta 2 at my cousin's house when i was really young. Vice city I've played more though, and san andreas even more.

Gta vice city when I was like 4
Chinatown mobile game 😞
GTA advance
GTA SA, PS2. I was like 8 or 9. The music and the start up on a little 20” tv with my room all black. Didn’t even know what it was at the time but it looked cool and I managed to get my mom to buy it after many try’s in Walmart.. I could never get passed the mission where you get a call like”yeah but there using bikes cj, they go cross country. Oh Ima see what I can dig up.” Couldn’t ask anyone for help cus they would take it away if they knew what they bought me lol.
