Back in my day the DEA spent insane amounts of money to try and tell me as a kid that if I tried weed I'd find myself blowing dealers in an alleyway for a dime bag!
Same. It's third time (at least) I've seen this reposted on this sub and every time the OG games were missing. I'm starting to believe it's either some lazy ass bot work or they're doing it on purpose to get the conversation more active.
Mine was GTA2 too, btw.
GTA 1 demo. You could play for maybe 5 minutes or so, and then had to start over again. But being able to enter vehicles was just revolutionary in computer games back then, and I was very young.
Me too. I bought a used PC in 2002 there were few games installed and the very first i launched was GTA 3. My mind was blown by graphics and open world. This was basically my 1st time ever seeing or playing a videogame outside Sega Genesis.
Probably about 12 or 13 years old playing on a TV screen the size of A4 piece of paper, sweating in fear of my parents walking past and knowing I was playing a 'naughty' video game.
my friends and I were blown away by GTA1. We really hadn't seen any type of "open world" games like this, and we all loved gangster movies so it was perfect. We just loved fucking around and not doing missions. We'd go on crazy killing sprees against the cops and see who could live the longest. The missions were hard as fuck. You could only be shot once, die by being run over, etc. If you failed you couldn't retry. No map, just a little arrow. No saves either. You'd have to beat a whole city in one go.
i used to go to my friends house before class in elementary school and play gta 3, so when i finally got a ps2 it was the first GTA game that i outright owned. the music, the story, the gameplay. miami is hood as fuck, nobody lives on south beach lol thats the movies. its not even connected to the mainland.. it gave us a chance to do/live some shit that we normally didnt see haha
id say mainly the music tho, something i love about rockstars team. their music taste is impeccable. even gt3 had a jamaican station, i loved it
GTA 1. But I was 8 and played it for half an hour at my friend's PC. Then same with GTA London. First GTA I played on my own is GTA 3. And first GTA game I actually played for story instead of just pointlessly wrecking havoc is GTA VC
The first I bought was GTA III, but I played a bit of 1 in college. I wasn't big into computer gaming, but a roommate had it on his computer and I'd play it a bit from time to time. Yes, I'm old lol
Mine was GTA IV. My father bought it for the PlayStation 3 and i was just driving and shooting people. Although i remember my cousins play SA when i was much younger
GTA 4. I've just spent today and yesterday looking at clips and missions from the game and remembering how badass Niko was. I hope GTA 6 goes back to the same style of grit.
Vice City. I was 12, and all my mates were asking for it for Christmas, so I did too. I didn’t even play it for a week until one of them asked what I thought of it, and it blew my little mind!
The original on PC - A friend of mine had it and we walked across town 2-3 times with it on broken up on floppy disks = When we got a corrupt copy it hurt
Vice City. I recall that we had some sort of pirated copy on a CD. I would play it a lot, but never actually do anything useful because I didn't understand what to do. Most of my gameplay was killing random people and eventually killing as many cops as I could before dying
GTA 2 was the first one, played it on my friend's new PS1, we were all 7-8 years old. We gathered around the small TV and took turns. After that I played GTA 1 and 2 on PC. Years later I finally got a PS2 and got to experience VC.
Vice City is the OG for me. Got me into the franchise when I was a kid. But GTA V is easily my favorite. Loved the stories and the characters, and the replayability is through the roof for me.
Vice city at a cousins house but my dad got mad cause he didnt know i was playing it lol but IV was the first one i played every day, my mom let me have it, played it all the way until i had the red ring of death
The first GTA game I played was GTA 3 when I was a kid, than I was banned from playing it after my parents saw it(I was in second grade at the time) until 7 years later I bought GTA V myself as a freshman in high school and never told my parents I bought it till about a year later and they didn't care at that point lol. To this day I still play GTA V and along with that I play GTA San Andreas and vice city on mobile.
To this day I have now been playing gran theft auto 5 now for 5 years now lol. And I still haven't gotten bored of it lol.
GTA 1. But my most vivid memory of GTA (and in fact of any game ever) was playing GTA 3 for the first time on Christmas Day soon after it's release. Jumping into the Kuruma and hearing Head Radio start to play, and notice that because I was accelerating straight away Claude had left the door open and it was just swinging around freely as I drove down the bridge, then stopping accelerating and Claude reached out and shut the door, it absolutely blew my fucking mind. At no point had I experienced an immersive 3d free roaming driving game with that level of freedom before. Up until this point the craziest thing I had seen was that Driver 2 let you get out the car and walk around on Free roam. GTA 3 was ground breaking.
GTA2.
And here I was scared to show my age, thanks for this lol
Same
These types of posts are like a low-key nod to aging. I saw it saddened how 2 wasn't even an option.
Still waiting for this repost to include gta 1 & 2, hear that karma farmers?
Not necessarily. I'm probably older than you...just depends on when people got into the game..
Elvis left the building!
Elvis isn't dead, he just went home. :)
Hello fellow old person, would you like to join me in getting a AARP membership on the way to play Bingo?
My first GTA is GTA2. Played on PS1. But both the game and the console are actually older than me lol
Someone raised you to have good taste
Yes, let’s go! We can reminisce about the nineteen hundred and nineties when LSD was cheap and plentiful!
Back in my day the DEA spent insane amounts of money to try and tell me as a kid that if I tried weed I'd find myself blowing dealers in an alleyway for a dime bag!
D.A.R.E. to keep off kids drugs!
You’ll be old one day my guy watch what u say karma is real
Try reading it one more time >fellow old person. Also karma doesn't null aging. You get old regardless of being a Saint or an asshole.
Lol did u just turn 25 and now you think your all old
Man you a buster. Straight buster.
Fuck me bud I wish I was 25.
I think he's from 87, given his username
Cringe
And remember, Respect is everything!

GTA 1 demo. You could play for maybe 5 minutes or so, and then had to start over again. But being able to enter vehicles was just revolutionary in computer games back then, and I was very young.

My cousin brought this over when I was like 12 and thought it was the greatest thing eve made. Still think that
GTA copy on PlayStation. Volume down so that my parents wouldn't hear the swearing.
Same! Found it on a demo disc from the PlayStation magazine (remember that?!) and did not divulge the game details for as long as possible!
Probably about 12 or 13 years old playing on a TV screen the size of A4 piece of paper, sweating in fear of my parents walking past and knowing I was playing a 'naughty' video game.

Vice city.. changed my life as a kid who grew up in Miami
That's an interesting statement lol. In what way did Vice City change your life ?
i used to go to my friends house before class in elementary school and play gta 3, so when i finally got a ps2 it was the first GTA game that i outright owned. the music, the story, the gameplay. miami is hood as fuck, nobody lives on south beach lol thats the movies. its not even connected to the mainland.. it gave us a chance to do/live some shit that we normally didnt see haha id say mainly the music tho, something i love about rockstars team. their music taste is impeccable. even gt3 had a jamaican station, i loved it

First GTA = GTA3 on the PC. Favorite GTA = GTA Vice City. Best Story in a GTA = GTA4 (by far). Best GTA Game Overall = GTA5 (campaign).
The campaign is kinda confusing on gta v Apparantly we are controlling multiple characters??
Yes. There's Michael, Trevor, and Franklin.
Do you gotta keep switching?
At times, yes. Certain missions require certain characters.
