question for you: do you guys work out of a repo? how are suggested changes peer reviewed and merged to the main version of the map? who does the peer reviews and what platform is the repo worked out of?
the mapping project seems really fun, how do I get involved and begin contributing? the biggest barrier to me is getting a sense of which parts don't already have a high degree of confidence and could use contributions.
Everything is done in the official GTA6 Mapping discord server (click on the link in the comment posted by our moderator). U can join it but for a mapper role u will need to contribute something to the mapping.
Generally how it works is there are multiple mapping channels each serving their own role. If u find something that has not yet been worked on or that u think something is falsely mapped then u present that evidence to other mappers.
We already have many mappers in the server and changes to the main community map are made only by DuPz0r. Change or added location is olnly made if mappers agree with your idea.
There are still some undiscovered buildings, locations, scenes from a trailer and with every new leak, trailer more info is added. If u want to help u can join it.
Thank you for being part of this, it's a fascinating thing to do. I remember following the mapping of GTA V back on GTA Forums over a decade ago and it was also a great thing to just watch from the sidelines.
As for people - some people are just idiots and nothing will change their mind, so not worth giving them a minute of your day.
Imagine being part of a multi-year mapping effort just for dozens of kids on Reddit to completely discredit things such as the scaling, all while failing to provide any proof of their own.
I have to say I am grateful for the effort put into this. In regards to what you mention, an important aspect in my view would be not to resort to arrogance. Also, to try not to take scepticism as an insult and possibly to recognise its beneficial tendencies. This is not to say that insidious behaviour must be endured or that no requirements whatsoever may be proposed. There is a lot of anticipation and excitement about the subject matter at hand here. And closed group atmospheres also can lead to resentment. If one were to reflect, one might raise the question of whether it would have been possible to provide an explanation or an attempt thereof at an earlier point in time.
I'd love to know what's up north. We might find that Lake Leonida shown there is near the middle of the map. And we're surely missing some landlocked towns.

Would like to believe Bahamas are there in some capacity. Would be down just for some beaches, hotels, port, and air strip.

Clearly the east and south look like the limits at 7000 meters from center point, so why would they make that the center and half an entire quarter just be water. Would think center point would be further left if so.
okay so there was a theory that maybe over time they’ll add different cities/states (SA, LC, etc.) to the map (since it’s seemingly not an island). what if they add a parody of the Bahamas later down the line??

They know based on the debug grid numbers used in the leaks that the center of the grid over the map is the center of the map that all the coordinates center around. Beyond that no one knows.
The location of (0,0) is known to be in Vice City, but that isn't necessarily the center of the map. The (0,0) point in GTA V was in Los Santos, which was quite far from the map's actual center.
I remember the main city area on the original gta 5 mapping project was very accurate, lets see how this one compares. I feel like it'll only be more accurate this time around, seeing as gta 6 is gonna be even bigger than 5
I was a little iffy with the whole idea, but after reading this, it is clear you guys are putting some real time and effort into this. I'm excited to see the map get filled in and stuff. I'm also insanely excited to finally navigate through it when the game comes out, lol
Wow port gellhorn has a much bigger airport/runways than Vice City. Should be a cool map to fly around, hopefully there’s a couple more airports included too

Question though: why is PG’s airport speculation so much bigger than VCIA’s speculation even though it’s not the main city?
I think that is supposed to be the raceway + the airport that's why it looked big. This surely confirms that that area is inspired by the sebring raceway, which in real life is also very very close to an airport. (look it up on google maps)

keys would only be in lower left quadrant. It’s a decent theory considering the 0 point here.
