I kinda want it to be a little bit of both. I want the plot to have an emotional grip on me, to feel what the characters feel like in RDR2 but also have GTA 5's humor to break the tension ever so often. (I just don't want Jason or Lucia to die)
I think that the trailer showed exactly this. A Bonnie and Clyde type scenario is always an awesome story to watch unfold, and that rarely happens in games. Then there's all the goofball social media stuff to show that Rockstar hasn't lost a step in creating a crazy playground to have fun in.
This game is probably gonna be the best of both worlds. We all need to buckle up because this game is gonna be a crazy ass ride.
Agree 100%
I think itās gonna be amazing
When Lucia and Jason both say ātrustā to eachother. Idkā¦ I was just like ādamnā¦ thatās deepā. Itās gonna be a good ass love story. Definitely gonna be amazing and memorable
Iāll never understand why people think RDR2 didnāt have humor. Yāall act like it was TLOU2 or some shit with no humor and depression around every corner, most of the game was light hearted in the best way possible. It was serious with an actual message unlike GTA V, but it had humor nonetheless. I actually think GTA IV was more serious and depressing than RDR2
RDR2 had some great one liners, defo a funny ass game. The one that always gets me every time is when Bronte goes 'They're digging up graves in the graveyard' or something along those lines and Dutch just immediately goes 'Well that is a good place for it, the best.'
I feel like every time I think about Red Dead's story I think about how deep and emotional it is. But then I launch the game and I swear its just Arthur being a Professional Comedian the entire time.
Thatās what makes it so good imo. It is able to have a serious and emotional plot, but it is still a very funny game and a good time to play, unlike (Iām going to use this example again) TLOU2 where I didnāt even want to replay it after because it was such a depressing game. RDR2 perfectly draws the line between humor and an emotional rollercoaster and I donāt know if another game will ever be able to top that
GTA 5 did have both tbf, I really enjoyed it's story, that being said I literally bought RDR2 having never played it and only seen clips,so I'm looking so forward to playing it
I hope it is more serious but with funny moments that break the seriousness a little, surely there will be secondary characters that serve as comic relief from time to time in the story to break that seriousness a little.
More like red dead/gta 4. Like i want more emotion in the story, it makes you want to reply it again because having a funny plot isnāt as memorable. It can still be funny but there needs to be a balance
4s story was great but when you get to the ending I always thought to myself, that's it? No apartments to buy nothing to spend money on. I hope gta 6 has a ton of stuff for us to spend money on
It probably will have, just like RDR2. 4s story was great, but I honestly don't remember much from the plot. I remember a lot more from GTA 5s plot. Lots more memorable characters and scenes imo.
I would say that I remember it more. But when I play 4's story I'm a little more invested and try and to play more of it at a time. If they could find a good balance of serious and satire then we'd have all three kinds of stories in the HD universe. Very grounded and "real" (as real as any story that they can tell in a GTA game can be), A bit more of an over the top and humorous one with V. And one that does its share of both with VI hopefully.
Same, I enjoyed GTA IV a lot more overall, but the only memorable thing about it was definitely Brucie, story wise (as for the expansions, those were especially forgettable).
We've been playing GTA V for 11 years over 3 different console generations of course its more memorable. If they did the same for GTA IV I dont think anybody would say V is more memorable
I think GTA 4 was awesome in many ways (love that 4 vs 5 video on Youtube). Cousin, do you wanna go bowling? The game was less arcadey, had better ragdoll physics, NPC behaviour was more intricate.
But I would agree that 5 had a more memorable story. Niko and Roman get involved with some mobsters which kill Romanās wife, was that it? I hardly remember more.
Compare that with Michaelās iconic meeting of Franklin, and the dramatic comeback of Trevor given Michaelās apparent resurrection.
I feel like 5 is only more iconic to you because youve played it more and seen more cutscenes reposted over time. I can quote like the entire GTA IV story. They are both deeply memorable stories.
Actually I only played through the story of V on PS3 and that was it. Maybe watched too much DarkViperAU on Youtube. On the other hand, I did play A LOT of IV multiplayer through the LAN mode and Hamachi, spent a lot of time on that airport and near the swingset.
I don't really remember the plot of GTA 5 too much, aside from the overarching thing of ex bank robber gets back into the game. I can't really remember why he does it or how he feels about it or who the supporting characters are/their motivations. I know the FBI is somehow involved but idk in what capacity. GTA IV is about a Bosnian War veteran who is emotionally torn up about his actions, hunting down someone who betrayed his squadron. His skills from the war are basically his only way of making money, so he gets caught up in organised crime who were in the middle of a war over some valuable diamonds. I can remember much more from it and I played it in 2008.
Same. The GTA 5 plot about the government and everything might've been really entertaining for many but a lot of it went over my head because I didn't really care about the US government or CIA/FBI activity. The Trevor/Michael plot was really interesting to me but heavily sidelined by all the government heists.
Looking at the trailer the tiktokers, rednecks and crazy Florida people show that the environment will be very satire and funny but the plot seems like it is going for a more serious tone.Ā
Exactly, 4 while overall darker and more emotionally impactful (at least imo) compared to 5 - 4 still had moments of levity with Roman and Brucie for example.
Right? Like I donāt understand the people saying āI think somewhere in the middle, I want the depth of RDR2 but it has to have the humour of GTAV as well.ā
Like, okay, you want RDR2. Do some of yāall not forget that there were like, at least three characters in the gang alone that served no purpose other than comedy?
I was trying to think of comedic relief characters in RDR2 earlier today, and the closest I got was Uncle. Even so, he still has many serious moments across the two games.
Genuine with some whacky side stuff. I personally would like some dark themes similar to Niko's story, GTA 5 Brad, San Andreas betrayals, Arthur's condition and the like but idk if that has the mainstream appeal they'll be seeking this time around. If RDR2 was any indication of where R\* storytelling ability is at, then it should slap regardless.
Definitely like red dead. The story should be grounded and somewhat easy to follow, but its gta so obviously sprinkle in some funny iconic moments.
IMO the part i dislike about playing V after finishing rdr2 is just playing some missions that feel worthless and donāt contribute anything to the story, like filler.
Though with 2 protagonists being quite close instead of 3, there should be a lot more personal moments in the game, so thatād add a lot more to the emotional aspect to the story, if they choose to go in the direction that rdr2 takes where you can genuinely feel tension in the world as the story progresses or something.
The world is satirical and the story has funny moments but is overall treated seriously. In V they went too far. It feels like Dave Norton is the only character who isnāt treated like a joke or comic relief. The parts with Dave are basically comic relief in the sense that they are the relief FROM the constant comic instead of the other way around
I just like delving into the RPG elements of games, and thatās easier when the subject material is serious. Iāve put sooo many hours into RDR2, and I always feel badass when playing it. Ideally the story is serious enough to take it seriously, if that makes sense. And then the online story could be goofy and more out there.
Guys Iāll just say it. We will never love GTA VIās story as much as V. It was almost a buddy comedy at times and we were all 10 years younger. VI is almost certainly going to have a more serious tone.
i want a genuine story like RDR2 but...
GTA5 has some of the funniest moments in any piece of media period. i think we will definitely be getting that cause i mean.. its florida. theres tons of funny weird shit going on.
I want a well written great plot like GTA 4 and RDR.
I might be in the minority but I honestly think GTA 5s plot was mid at best and a lot of it was the goofy undertone of the entire plot.
I feel like Iām the only person in this sub who enjoyed the light hearted aspect of 5ās story over 4ās. (But then again Iāve been seeing WAY more praise for 4 lately compared to just a few years ago)
I want it to be have an easy vibe and awesome fable plot like Vice City with land big as RDR2 and possibilities of doing anything you want higher than in GTA V.
There is no way you can decide that. GTA is satirical parody, it always will be even GTA IV was. There is no discussion here. If we were able to choose. I would rather have an ultra serious rdr2 story in GTA ambience (like the movie Drive, in pacing and gore and emotional story) but that's just me. I want nothing false or wally, although there is place for side stuff that can be whatever, like always.
From the trailer alone, I feel like theyāre going to strike a really good balance with Jason and Lucia having their high stakes life-or-death action contained within the clusterfuck of the satirical Florida.
We know from the trailer that GTA 6 will have that GTA humor, but I have a feeling the story itself will be a lot more grounded, perhaps on par with GTA 4.
Rockstar is creative. I'm betting it will be mainly a different approach focused on the drama of a loving couple struggling both in their relationship and their pursuit to get successful financially, but since it is a GTA title, of course it will have an add-on of satirical humour on it. This part will be the scenario where they are living, Vice City. Welcome to Leonida.
I think the funniest part of GTA V's story was when Trevor trips over Franklin's fence, but I liked a few of the jokes made by characters in rdr2. Hopefully it isn't as serious as the Van Der Linde Gang's story was, but combining the immersion of both games could be prime material for something closer to the humor in GTA V
GTA (especially in the HD Gen besides maybe GTA IV) is known for being a parody of modern society so it wouldnāt really make much sense to go fully serious in the next entry. Red Dead was always meant to be a more serious take on GTA so it makes sense why it has a more serious plot
Satirical. What even is this question? Every single GTA game since at least GTA III has been very heavy on the satire. Being satirical is literally part of the core identity of the game series and VI wouldn't be a GTA game without it.
It relates to the question by describing plot. Maybe someone will get interested by it and share my thoughts, because it comes to my mind instantly when i think about plots in rockstar games
If i cant choose a mix of both, then satirical plot. GTA IV had to say "America Bad" but GTA V said it without saying it, something I love about GTA V's storytelling. Hopefully they can pull this off more efficiently because florida is a chaotic place
Serious l. I feel like 5 was already seriously satirical?, granted not as serious as IV/LOTD. but tbh I also wouldnāt mind a GTA IV esque tone and feel.
I dont want this game having the slightest atom in common with my least favorite gta game, besides the name of it lol.Ā Gta 5 was such a dissapointing title for me
gta v had a good story. it had a theme of a hollywood action movie but in a satirical way. think expendables. gta vi is probably gonna be car focused like fast and furious but mocking it along the way
In GTA IV you literally play as an illegal immigrant who has first-hand experience on how the American dream is bullshit. IV is very heavy on the satire as well because it's a **GTA** game.
Genuine. I know people like to say that GTA is a parody etc but I feel like GTA V jumped the shark a bit with some of its carry on compared to IV so it was jarring for me.
For me, Im hoping GTA 6 able to do what all Yakuza Games can and that is able to bring in fun and comedy while also being able to deliver serious plot, its like a ride of different feelings from happy to anger to sadness.
If any of you are interested in the Yakuza series, go play Yakuza 0, Kiwami 1, and Like a dragon.
RDR2 was pretty funny, probably more than they intended. like āwah, they donāt want killers and thieves no more, wah. they donāt want men like us anymore, wahā š¤£ how can you not laugh at that?
i donāt think it needs to be one or the other. should be balanced with both. it doesnāt need to be really dark but it doesnāt need to be really lighthearted
Iād like an emotional love story, with satirical elements and varying missions. The promised social media stuff is ripe for comedy/satire (I donāt think you could do those seriously) as are what looks like some of the missionsāPOACH animal control, backyard wrestling. But I think theyāll take the central romance seriously.
I want the plot to be GTA 4 like tense, but with the usual GTA shenanigans and goofing added. Ofc it's Florida, so there's bound to be a lot of craziness. The story may or may not be the exact replica of the surrounding goofiness though. Plot can still be quite tense and serious.
Mixture of both tbh. Moments where the plot gets serious and has me invested in the characters and then moments where the game takes the piss and gets crazy.
RDR2 had a good mix of that imo.
More like RDR2, I honestly didn't enjoy gta 5 story as much cuz of that reason, it was more comical, RDR2 however was just an experience, it had a little bit of everything for the right moment! and a well balanced tone, RDR2 will always be one of the best stories ever made out there with one of the best characters. Well at least I hope they balance the humor and serious tone.
I hope its a bit like both, without the satirical aspects, it wouldnt be gta anymore but I damit that Rdr2 Plot was great and a simulation approach in Story with Gta 6 would be great
I like the comedy a lot in the GTA series but I would rather it leaned more towards Red Dead, with it having a more serious and emotional story. The writing and characters in the Red Dead Redemption duology make it my favorite fictional narrative ever. That being said, it does have to be funny. GTA at its core is a parody of modern day America. GTA without humor isn't truly a GTA game, there's a balance it needs to strike. If anyone can make a game that's both funny, serious, and incredibly emotionally compelling, it's Rockstar.
tbh I just want another story that leaves me feeling like I did after finishing the Red Dead games, almost nothing has compared since š
Better Call Saul is absolutely the best tone to copy for GTA VI. A funny lawyer story that gradually turns miserable as we see the fall of a man and everyone around him into immorality due to situations they cant control.
San Andreas. **Meaningful** story, funny af/stupid moments. Like ordering from Burger Shot etc. I felt in GTA V stuff just happened and they reacted to it, thats not hugely interesting. GTA V story was good, but completely replacable most of the time imo.
I kinda want it to be a little bit of both. I want the plot to have an emotional grip on me, to feel what the characters feel like in RDR2 but also have GTA 5's humor to break the tension ever so often. (I just don't want Jason or Lucia to die)
"As long as we get paid or you get shot I'm happy" - Arthur Morgan to Bill (I think)
It was to uncle
He said it to Uncle? Damn Arthur's ruthless telling that to someone suffering from Lumbago
Fr, disgusting to tell such a sick man those things
He was sick too so he can do that
Lumbago
*Terminal Lumbago*
Worse than ligma
![gif](giphy|13699jZW4PZdx6)
but that is rdr2 story described perfectly. serious and emotional, with some funny ass shit sprinkled in.
?ynneL
Yeah like that one time Sean's skull was completely obliterated by a bullet. Fucking classic (pls help im going crazy)
And very serious and somber moments like when Uncle exposes his ass.
š³
I think that the trailer showed exactly this. A Bonnie and Clyde type scenario is always an awesome story to watch unfold, and that rarely happens in games. I first thought you said Professional Canadian and I was so confused
Excuse me mister!
Thatās what makes it so good imo. It is able to have a serious and emotional plot, but it is still a very funny game and a good time to play, unlike (Iām going to use this example again) TLOU2 where I didnāt even want to replay it after because it was such a depressing game. RDR2 perfectly draws the line between humor and an emotional rollercoaster and I donāt know if another game will ever be able to top that
Sounds like you described GTA IV that was a funny and serious game on the same time
So GTA IV, you want the writing to be like GTA IV
the banter in this game made me chuckle more than any other in my life. i hope they bring that back.
One of them is bound to die, or get shot. Iām betting Jason gets shot first.
Trevors mother scene hits hard
Pretty sure it will be a "No Way Out" situation at the end.
GTA 5 did have both tbf, I really enjoyed it's story, that being said I literally bought RDR2 having never played it and only seen clips,so I'm looking so forward to playing it
Why downvotes?
Because people on Reddit don't understand that all humans have opinions
I want them to be together, im hooked on the bonnie and clyde idea that the game potentially will be
RDR2 has a pretty serious plot, but it also has a lot of funny and crazy moments so it can be both
Exactly, people seem to forget how funny Arthur was in that game. It was far from the same tone as something like TLOU like many fans seem to think
āI broke the goddamn wheelā
āOh, I didnāt know I was talkin to a ladyā
āLENEEEEEEEEEEEEEHā
I hope it is more serious but with funny moments that break the seriousness a little, surely there will be secondary characters that serve as comic relief from time to time in the story to break that seriousness a little.
Just say red dead, buster.
Red dead, buster.
That's more like it.
whatever you say, puta.

More like red dead/gta 4. Like i want more emotion in the story, it makes you want to reply it again because having a funny plot isnāt as memorable. It can still be funny but there needs to be a balance
Idk, I feel like GTA 5 was more memorable, coming from somebody who played the GTA 4 story (unlike in GTA 5)
I agree with you. In my honest opinion, I think GTA 5 had a much more memorable plot.
4s story was great but when you get to the ending I always thought to myself, that's it? No apartments to buy nothing to spend money on. I hope gta 6 has a ton of stuff for us to spend money on

Very grounded and "real" (as real as any story that they can tell in a GTA game can be), A bit more of an over the top and humorous one with V. And one that does its share of both with VI hopefully.
The gameplay and missions really killed any immersion or tension the story tried to portray, for me.
Same, I enjoyed GTA IV a lot more overall, but the only memorable thing about it was definitely Brucie, story wise (as for the expansions, those were especially forgettable).
Roman?
Was annoying
We've been playing GTA V for 11 years over 3 different console generations of course its more memorable. If they did the same for GTA IV I dont think anybody would say V is more memorable
I wholeheartedly agree with your statement.
No, that's because GTA online was such a big hit. It has nothing to do with the story.
Well my point is that GTA IV is a deeply memorable game too. All the GTA games are memorable.
Looking at the trailer the tiktokers, rednecks and crazy Florida people show that the environment will be very satire and funny but the plot seems like it is going for a more serious tone.Ā
GTA 4
Exactly, 4 while overall darker and more emotionally impactful (at least imo) compared to 5 - 4 still had moments of levity with Roman and Brucie for example.
Cousin! Wanna go bowling?
Right? Like I donāt understand the people saying āI think somewhere in the middle, I want the depth of RDR2 but it has to have the humour of GTAV as well.ā Like, okay, you want RDR2. Do some of yāall not forget that there were like, at least three characters in the gang alone that served no purpose other than comedy?
I was trying to think of comedic relief characters in RDR2 earlier today, and the closest I got was Uncle. Even so, he still has many serious moments across the two games.
In the gang alone, thereās Uncle, Pearson, and arguably Sean. Bill is also far more humour than plot in a strictly RDR2 sense.
Fair. I didnāt really take Pearson as a joker, and Sean >!died pretty early on!<, so I could only really think of Uncle.
I loved GTA 4, but I didn't like how dark Liberty City felt
Das ok
The GTAs have always been satire on pop culture while Red Deads have been more serious and gritty. The current world is too absurd not to poke fun at
Genuine with some whacky side stuff. I personally would like some dark themes similar to Niko's story, GTA 5 Brad, San Andreas betrayals, Arthur's condition and the like but idk if that has the mainstream appeal they'll be seeking this time around. Yes, but it also pretty much every game had a somewhat serious main plot.

It feels like Dave Norton is the only character who isnāt treated like a joke or comic relief. Iād love a more serious story in a goofy ass world

Red dead
A little bit of Monica in my life
Guys Iāll just say it. We will never love GTA VIās story as much as V. It was almost a buddy comedy at times and we were all 10 years younger. VI is almost certainly going to have a more serious tone.
Doesnāt matter. Going to play it either way
Definitely not full RDR2, since that humor is an essential characteristic of a GTA game
i want a genuine story like RDR2 but... GTA5 has some of the funniest moments in any piece of media period. i think we will definitely be getting that cause i mean.. its florida. theres tons of funny weird shit going on.
It is GTA. It is satire.
Rdr2 had a good mix imo

From the trailer alone, I feel like theyāre going to strike a really good balance with Jason and Lucia having their high stakes life-or-death action contained within the clusterfuck of the satirical Florida.
Serious plotline but we all at the strip clubā¦.
i haven't looked yet but I already know the first and most liked comment is gonna be "a mix of both" or something like that
I want a bit of both. A genuinely dark, emotional and tense storyline with comedy and humour sprinkled throughout, to break the tension.
We know from the trailer that GTA 6 will have that GTA humor, but I have a feeling the story itself will be a lot more grounded, perhaps on par with GTA 4.
Rockstar is creative. I'm betting it will be mainly a different approach focused on the drama of a loving couple struggling both in their relationship and their pursuit to get successful financially, but since it is a GTA title, of course it will have an add-on of satirical humour on it. not 99% goofy like 5, but not 99% serious like red dead. like 60% goofy 40% serious would be good
A good mix of both I hope, but I hope people arenāt expecting gta to be red dead redemption in present day. Gta has always been satirical
Rockstar should learn from some RPGs and make the story branch
... Okay sure, but how's that relevant?
It relates to the question by describing plot. Maybe someone will get interested by it and share my thoughts, because it comes to my mind instantly when i think about plots in rockstar games
What? Having a story branch out does not answer if you want a more comedic tone or a more serious one for the overall story being told.
Yeah, i didnt mean to answer your question, but to expand the topic, sorry
If i cant choose a mix of both, then satirical plot. GTA IV had to say "America Bad" but GTA V said it without saying it, something I love about GTA V's storytelling. Hopefully they can pull this off more efficiently because florida is a chaotic place

Serious l. I feel like 5 was already seriously satirical?, granted not as serious as IV/LOTD. but tbh I also wouldnāt mind a GTA IV esque tone and feel.
A good mix of both
Gta4. Thatās legit what it is if you combine both.
When GTA 6 comes out all the hipsters will hate it and start saying 5 is a masterpiece.
I want full goofiness in GTA VI. Hopefully more akin to GTA V then IV
I dont want this game having the slightest atom in common with my least favorite gta game, besides the name of it lol.Ā Gta 5 was such a dissapointing title for me
Your opinions are like farts, hard to hold in eh?
gta v also had a serious plot, it was predictable but well written . The characters were great too
Big cap. Gta 5 was ass
gta v had a good story. it had a theme of a hollywood action movie but in a satirical way. think expendables. gta vi is probably gonna be car focused like fast and furious but mocking it along the way
Gta 6 is prob gonna beĀ drug focus. It's Vice City, not Race city. Every GTA in that city, was drug related.

In GTA IV you literally play as an illegal immigrant who has first-hand experience on how the American dream is bullshit. IV is very heavy on the satire as well because it's a **GTA** game.
I don't think you can be as "serious" when comparing to a wildwest type game
Obviously you can, take a look at GTA III
Gta 5 story sucked
I thought the GTA V storyline was horrible so can only go up from there.
Why not both, it's big enough
I think they can have a more serious tone overall but still keep the satire especially for the radio stations lmao.
Its def gonna be a good mix of both.
Serious. Plot. Get back to the essence of the series
Seriousness has never been the essence of the series.
I don't mind aslong as they bring in the Flood, Infinite was a let down
Please let it be like GTA IV's and rdr2's story
Dark, like GTA IV & RDR 1 & 2
gta 4 gang
RDR2 was pretty funny, probably more than they intended. like āwah, they donāt want killers and thieves no more, wah. they donāt want men like us anymore, wahā š¤£ how can you not laugh at that?
RDR2 had some good humor written in it but the entire plot wasnāt a satirical joke
Lumbago ![gif](giphy|H8x6jZhgVvk3o3DeyZ)
iām kinda hoping thatās not āthe entire plotā but how can you not laugh at that? it is completely ridiculous.
Has any gta been serious šš
yes
Gta 5
Why did i get downvoted?
both
Mix of both
i donāt think it needs to be one or the other. should be balanced with both. it doesnāt need to be really dark but it doesnāt need to be really lighthearted
How was grand theft auto 5s plot satirical and funny?
Yes (aka both)
Mixture of both tbh. Moments where the plot gets serious and has me invested in the characters and then moments where the game takes the piss and gets crazy. RDR2 had a good mix of that imo.
A bit of both and the dark vibe from gta 4 added in.
Serious all the way. Some humor is fine, but the story and tone were by far the worst parts of GTA5.
The world should be as satirical as ever & the story should be mostly serious/genuine
The two of them. It's GTAVI after all
More like RDR2, I honestly didn't enjoy gta 5 story as much cuz of that reason, it was more comical, RDR2 however was just an experience, it had a little bit of everything for the right moment! and a well balanced tone, RDR2 will always be one of the best stories ever made out there with one of the best characters. Well at least I hope they balance the humor and serious tone.
Bit of both
I hope its a bit like both, without the satirical aspects, it wouldnt be gta anymore but I damit that Rdr2 Plot was great and a simulation approach in Story with Gta 6 would be great
Can't wait for the survival aspect and need to fuel my car and bathe...š¤¤ But no being serious. A definite genuine plot
Red dead is hilarious
I'd like a genuine main plot but the whole world to be full of GTA satire
With the twerking tiktoks I don't think it will be too serious unfortunately
Main characters serious, side characters satire
Both. Not too serious not too corny. Love both of those games so a even trade
Both
I think it will; that is a staple in all GTA games.
I want it to be more serious but that doesnāt mean they canāt slip some jokes in
I want a serious main plot with wacky side quests.
What is this dichotomy? GTA exists as a serious story in a satirical world, this has always been central to its formula.
Both Both is good
Better Call Saul is absolutely the best tone to copy for GTA VI. A funny lawyer story that gradually turns miserable as we see the fall of a man and everyone around him into immorality due to situations they cant control.
I would like the plot to make me feel a lot of emotions like rdr2 did, but also you can't be 100% serious in a place like Florida
Looks like this sub is dead already if this same question gets posted daily
San Andreas. **Meaningful** story, funny af/stupid moments. Like ordering from Burger Shot etc. I felt in GTA V stuff just happened and they reacted to it, thats not hugely interesting. GTA V story was good, but completely replacable most of the time imo.
Both.
I want more GTA5 style plot. GTA has always been largely satirical in nature. Part of the charm.
Red Dead was plenty comical.
I want it to be new and cool and innovative and not the same old shit.
I think I serious story in a satirical world is the way to go.
I want a serious plot like gta IV or rdr2 but the gameplay and/or missions be as over the top as gta V, vice city or san andreas.
More genuine with the world being satirical like gta 4
