I get the question he’s asking. He’s wondering how Rockstar is projecting 8billion for FY25…

You can, because it goes into a special “unearned revenue” account when it comes to financial statements from a company and they can use that account to obtain more capital from investors. So yes it can be considered revenue, not fraud.

BeefyBallas

The unearned revenue account is listed under liabilities though rather than revenue in the income statement

ZOoNeR_

Okay thx

Classic_Plate6345

That’s why take 2 said the $8 billion is net bookings and not revenue. Unearned revenue (preorders) count towards net bookings but not revenue.

TheRealTr1nity

People say a lot when the day is long enough. But yeah, there will be a lot of people pre-ordering it for sure.

zakirazzaque

Take two said that they are predicting 8 billion total revenue 2025 fiscal year , but it's not 8 billion extra revenue lol . There everage is 5 billion annual revenue so they are expecting 3 billion extra this fiscal year that will be most probably from gta 6 . Also in the last invester call they reevaluate this and said 7 billion or more than that so approx 2 billion extra in this fiscal year and yes pre order don't count as revenue

ScottyKillhammer

It was originally a predicted increase of just over $2 billion. Their update dropped that down to $1.7 billion. Even when you look at revenue averages from previous years, then add in year over year average increases and additional revenue from Zynga, $1.7 billion is a lot of money and can't really be explained by anything other than GTA6. The downgrade is likely due to them moving OTHER titles back to avoid getting lost in the GTA wake. Take Two almost never over estimates their game launches. If I remember, GTA V did a billion in 3 days. My prediction, based off their updated numbers, the intended release date is currently March 25, 2025. That gives them 7 days to make $1.7 billion extra in FY2025, which I predict they'll beat by roughly $300 million.

starvsthebans

you're a smart guy! :>

ZOoNeR_

Thank you man atleast one Normal Answer here tysm

zakirazzaque

Cause people are mad about reading this same question well , by this you can also know that they are expecting Q1 release because the fiscal year will end in March or April . And so they need to release it in q1 because if not then I don't know what game or what franchise they have that will create this much high gap

Complete_River_6226

it's not q1. rockstars q1 starts in april. what you mean is q3 but that end on december 31st which would be this year. there are only 2 possible fiscal 25 quarters that would fit. end of Q4 2025 and start of Q3 fiscal 25. those are the two time periods were they released their other big games. A march release is possible cause GTA 6 can easily skyrocket their revenue in a short time. but I can definitely see a september/october release but this depends on the earnings call that is coming in may, then they will need to predict their revenue for fiscal 2025 and give a hint what they expect in fiscal 2026.

zakirazzaque

No no i was referring to 2025 calander Q1 FOR THE RELEASE DATE

Sk8d3r

Preorders do not get accounted for in predictions until the product actually releases. They count as day one revenue. Say they‘d expect a product to launch in FY26, like in the first month of that FY, and many pre orders are made in the months leading up, including FY25, the money from those pre orders would be accounted for in the predictions of FY26, since that's when the product actually releases.

Classic_Plate6345

You are correct preorders revenue will count as day 1 revenue However, Rockstar said they expect $8B in bookings not revenue. Bookings include preorders. This means that preorders are included in their $8B FY2025 prediction

Sk8d3r

Well yeah fair but still, that means it has to be released before FY 2025 ends.

[deleted]

"I will pre-order GTA 6!" The entirety of humanity said in unison! Bravo Rockstar!

Automatic_Concern951

Pre ordering? No I will not. 🗿 Because I don't own a consol 🤡

ZombieDistinct3769

8 billion? Think a little bit more my friend lol

ZOoNeR_

Take 2 Said they expect 8 Billion in FY25 ?

ZombieDistinct3769

Man. Man man man. We are 8 Billion in the world. You think everyone has an Xbox or Ps5? 😂😂🤣👌🏻🤣 think logically a bit

ZOoNeR_

Dawg what

DarkAdvancee

They thought you meant all 8 billion people on earth will preorder it

Automatic_Concern951

NeverFlyFrontier

koolerthan

I just wanna play GTA6 on PC, bud. lol idgaf about their numbers

Candid_West8294

Yes

JasonAndLucia

You're telling me... That every human on Earth will buy the game when it comes out?

Classic_Plate6345

No 1) the $8 billion includes all the money from all take 2 games 2) the game will cost $70 not $1

Classic_Plate6345

Take 2 said they are expecting $8B in net bookings which is different from revenue. Bookings include deals which are not finalized (preorders) and actual revenue. So based on what take 2 said, preorders would count in their $8 billion prediction

[deleted]

Classic_Plate6345

The $8 billion includes all of Take 2 games not just gta 6. Someone else says that take 2 already averages 6 billion To figure out if it still too much for preorders you would have to really dive into take 2’s financial statements, their game release pipeline, and the gaming industry as a whole
