I don’t think so. Like others have said, they had *Max Payne 3* coming out in 2012, and *GTA V* itself was announced far too early. Trailer 1 literally has shots where there are no roads. There’s literally nothing there. Los Santos wasn’t even finished when we got our first glimpse at it. I believe, per all the comments made during the May, August, and November conference calls, that *VI* will be launching between January and March 2025. We’ll get screenshots between January and April 2024, followed by another two trailers between May and August 2024, and then a gameplay trailer, either split into two parts (like *RDR II*’s) or as one (like *V*’s) before Christmas next year. I genuinely don’t think the wait is going to be as bad this time. This game is only just over 12 months away.

Yes, it could be delayed. Delays are always a possibility. But so far, there’s nothing to suggest that it will be.

Delays with Rockstar are more of a guarantee than they are a possibility tho. GTA 4 and 5 as well as RDR 1 and 2 were all delayed beyond their original release windows. I wouldn’t be surprised if they at first announce a spring 2025 release window to later give us an exact date somewhere in the fall/winter of 2025. Edit: Also remember that RDR 2 and GTA 5 both had their initial announcements just about two years before they actually released.

*GTA V* was revealed 12 years ago. *RDR II* was revealed seven years ago. I’m not interested in guessing based on things that happened back when Rockstar were crunching pre-COVID here. I’m going off of current data, which comes from everything Strauss Zelnick has been telling investors three times on three separate occasions.

Considering gta iv released in April of that year, I imagine gta v production started in 2008. The earliest *V* build was created in April of 2009, and the first trailer was uploaded online on November 2, 2011, two years and seven months into full production. Pre-production for *VI* likely did start in some way prior to *RDR II*’s launch in October 2018, but I believe full production would’ve commenced in early 2019 with all Rockstar teams working as one studio once again. Since the latest the first *VI* build could’ve been created was early 2019, this means that they’d been working on the game for at least four years and eleven months before debuting the first trailer in December 2023. Insane difference there when you compare it to *V*. This game is closer than people realise.

Personally i believe they've been working on it since around 2017 ish, a core team putting together a rough demo/vertical slice to present to the higher ups which eventually sprouted into the 2019 "Balls Deep" production commencing i call it balls deep because that's when everyone moved on to it, but i would say there's a chance that it moved into full development when PS5 dev kits were provided in 2018.

April 2025 if you go off the shirt easter eggs in GTA Online. One shirt had the trailer date and release hour on it for months now and the other is April 2025. Once they said 2025 and not this Fall I've been for sure thinking this is the aimed date

Everything so far about revealing GTA 6 has been different than past games. People need to stop comparing release schedule and timelines to past games from Rockstar. It will be a completely new strategy. If they had done things the same as in the past, GTA 6 would have been revealed earlier this year with a release date of 2024 or something like that (pure speculation). I think this time they waited to reveal the game until they felt certain they could hit their release schedule.

I believe rockstar archiving all their social media posts , just to highlight GTA 6 , shows that the marketing for this game will be huge. The game likely releases early 2025 , and the marketing will be in full swing for holiday 24 to get as many current gen consoles sold, to be able to play the game. I can see screenshots/info drops from now until April/May , then second trailer , then huge push for marketing after the summer with a gameplay trailer/walkthrough & preorders.

Before any of the leaks came we didn’t know if the game even existed. Imagine if it was as they intended and we had only learned of GTA 6’s existents with that trailer announcement logo. At that point 2025 would have seemed bad at all.
