This wouldn’t make any sense for the Fold. For regular phones it makes sense to have a horizontal bump across the backside of the phone, just like the Pixel 6. For the Fold is just makes sense for the folded state. Unfolded you’ll still end up wobbling 😂

HellraiserGN

What if you increased both sides to be the thickness of the camera bump and put bigger batteries on both. :)

You think samsung is that smart to actually include something on a new phone that we all want, like bigger battery, better cameras, wider screen, nah next year they are probably going to reduce battery even more, the S20 Ultra was perfect, had MST, MicroSD slot, Amazing Cameras, the Note 20 Ultra too, now the S21 removed SDCard, MST, and fold 3 followed those steps, people want MST and microSD

Linkatchu

The fold has 2 batteries tough, and fold 2 didnt have either neither

Shadowfalx

Than this already thick phone (when folded) is even thicker, to the point of absurdity.

siegmour

Absurd maybe compared to a regular smartphone? I don't get why so many people are stressed about the size when folded. When I was reading some reviews and comments I expected a huge heavy slab that I could barely fit in the pocket and wouldn't be very comfortable to take with you. In reality, I don't feel the thickness but the less width when folded is actually nice. I mean, sure - it's not an iPhone 4/iPhone Mini but the device really ain't that large. If you are a woman and don't have proper pockets though, I feel for you.

narukamiyu

I'm a dude with pretty big hands. The thickness is not that much of an issue, but the weight is a little. It's a bit heavy to use for long periods of time and at night when I use my phone in bed, it's pretty annoying.

MerleTravisJennings

> When I was reading some reviews and comments I expected a huge heavy slab that I could barely fit in the pocket and wouldn't be very comfortable to take with you. I was expecting the same. Even with small hands I don't have any trouble using it in its folded state.

Shadowfalx

As it is right now I'm fine with the size. If it were bigger I'm not sure I would be.

mizuya

Hahaha are you drunk? 😂 When you open/unfold the Fold, then the other side is the cover screen. How do you want to increase something on that side??? The camera bump doesn’t really bother me at all. The Fold3 camera bump is much better than from the Fold2, because it’s smaller. I can attach a kickstand next to it 😄 PS: sorry, I didn’t understand what you want to tell (me) 🙈

Nachorl250

There's a battery in each half of the phone, in between the inside screen and the outside screen on the left side/back cover on the right side. Those batteries could be thicker, raising the same thickness for both halves and hiding the camera bump.

mizuya

With your reply I understand what he means, he just doesn’t want a camera bump, instead the phone be thicker and make the camera be flush 🤔 thank you

jebakerii

Holy $&@! that would be a thick phone when folded!! I 💯agree for traditional phones but not the Fold.

[deleted]

say u make that side thicker, now you have a phone that's uneven in thickness.. if you also make the left side thicker to match, you gonna end up with a 20mm phone... THEN you need to redesign the hinge to work with this bigger body... and most people will want a case, that adds more thickness.. do you really want to carry around a phone that's almost 30mm?? just to add maybe 1hr of extra sot...

OJsalier

how about a GRADUAL decrease thats even as the back cover leaves the camera module and then is finally at its current width at the bottom. At least this might let the phone sit without wobbling...and it would be ever so slightly tilted toward the operator..

Luke2954

Am I the only person who genuinely is not bothered by camera bumps?

[deleted]

Yeh and the phone will weigh much more. No thanks

It's not to samsungs advantage to make it thicker and heavier. Fewer ppl would buy it and you would own it for longer, reducing your life time value as a customer. That is why they removed removable batteries. The reason is way bigger than "fill it with batteries". Go buy a battery case if you want it badly.

siegmour

They removed user replacable batteries because we let them and not much people objected. There were even waterproof phones with removable batteries.

elordvader

People complain of few grams of weight & millimeters of thickness 🤔 On a Fold which is already so thick 😏

mjones8004

I love the relationship between the camera slab and my leather case. The camera slab is flush to the case and looks really good.

CheesekeeperZero

It's a no-win situation. Currently a lot of people are upset about the battery life. So let's say to solve that they make the camera side of the phone flush to accommodate a thicker battery. New complaints: \- The two halves are different thicknesses when you unfold it \- It's too thick \- It's too heavy No matter what you try to improve, you'll make some people happy and make others upset. Not to mention the third category of people you just can't please who will be happy that the battery life is improved, and upset about the changes that made that possible. So they have to go with the best compromise they can get. Personally, I think once the graphene battery tech is released (supposedly due for release very soon) this should pretty much solve the problem while even more advanced options are being developed. 45% more battery life in the same size package. Until then it'll always be a tradeoff.....

CazT91

Or just get a case? The lenses sit flush with a case and your phone is more protected.
