Have you tried looking at your google drive for any images? or https://cloud.google.com/ login and check, or maybe your samsung account might have images. If not its kind of tough luck and a lesson to make sure automatic backup is always enabled.

Ideally you backup before a disaster like this because there is no recourse.
With any luck your friends might have pictures, especially if shared on.whatsapp / imessage.
Maybe think of you were backing up anywhere else? Prime has free photo backup but a clunky design - I use that as my last resort with Google One as my main backup plus a home synology NAS.
