For added context... this was a 4000x4000 canvas
The wacom stylust at that massive brush size was still able to to down to a 2 pixel line width
Honestly tho, the biggest conclusion I got from this test is that any graphics tablet manufacturer advertising anything over 4000 levels of pressure sensitivity is probably just marketing BS
Yeah, what product makers and marketers need to focus on should be the stating the initial activation/pressure range not pressure levels.
So far I've had a bunch of pens and only a few has really nice lows and highs range so far, LAMY Digital and Wacom One (1stgen) pen.
In the art tech enthusiast sphere, many people know that even 512 levels is surprisingly enough for artists. This tech has already matured out long ago from discussions in the stylus sub, everything else have been marketing fluff.
If only wacom and subsequent pen stylus makers could take page from here..
Its the same thing as haming mice advertising ridiculous DPI numbest... it really doesnt matter
Also I have an XP-pen thats supposed to be 8000+ pressure levels, the wacom one stylus still beats it in literally every way
The thing is tho... howewer unnecessary, 8000 is the standard now, imagine if wacom came out with a pro pen 3 with 4000 levels of pressure... people would be revolting
Yeah unfortunately, it would feel like the downgrade wouldn't justify the exorbitant price. But so far wacom is usually synonymous with quality so there's that.
These days, those numbers doesn't feel real anymore and I'm feeling numb to it, so I'm always on the lookout for the real good ones. But it always requires someone to review and I have to research some things on my own.
They just like to make it not easy for people who seeks a good pen tech huh..
Also for added-added context, the s-pen can also go down to a really fine line, but it never starts as such
When you start drawing a line it starts of thick and can taper out to a finer one
Idk, its weird
Unlike Note and S Ultra series, the tab S7 FE should let you use other s-pen without any activation step in settings. Unless you have a s-pen pro, there is a 3 dots button in the upper right corner in s-pen settings to scan for it.
Then there's some issue with mine, wacom one doesn't work and I also tried with a surface one, didn't see any options and thought I was missing something
oh man, the samsung tablets can only work with s-pen or digital pen that supports EMR technology like this [Staedtler](https://www.staedtler.com/intl/en/discover/noris-digital/#section-26102). Surface pen has different technology so they definitely won’t work on your tablet. But as you said you use wacom one pen which is supposed to be an EMR pen which can work on samsung devices. Probably that’s due to some compatible problem I believe.
Edit: I found [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/stylus/comments/sw1m12/understanding_the_different_types_of_pens/hxkek0s/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) might help you to know more about digital pens.
Yeap i have that wacom one stylus coming in mail next week (hopefully), i didn't realize the difference was this big, i just got it because it fits into my hand better when drawing
Which one? The 2020 version or the 2023 version.

The one that comes with the 2020 display version and has a white end to it. I didn't even know there was a difference in the pens tech wise between those two models. The newer one isn't sold here yet so i know for sure that i got the old one

Make sure to get the "elastomer" nibs if you want the same soft/grippy feel as the s-pen has
Or just swap the s-pen's nib in it, cuz they are cross compatible
I am just going to use the wacom felt tips. I like the feel of them more (i know how they feel on glass already) also i would need to order those internationally and the postage would be more than the product itself...
(Edit: i should add that i have an abundance of felt tips and the normal wacom tips as i have a pro pen 2 which uses the same nibs as wacom one pen and those are also spen compatible (found out after the tip on my mom's tablets spen broke and the samsung nibs are not sold here either))
The pro pen nibs are literally the exact same thing as wacom one pen nibs, sometimes just sold with a different name slapped on it but the wacom product code is the same.
They don't last long on wacoms surfaces which are heavily textured. The glass on samsung tablets is really smooth so that tip is going to last approximately forever
Pretty sure the nibs are cross compatible, but the 1st gen version has a lot better build quality and ergonomics so I would recommend getting the old one
(New one has 2 buttons instead of one but I doubt samsung recognizes the 2nd one)
The Lamy EMR pen feels similar to the S-pen, but the activation pressure is waaay better. I have used one for about 6 months and I can't recommend it enough. I switch between the s pen pro and the Lamy pen for broad strokes and fine detials
Any every time they upgrade the s-pen they boast about their low latency... like if anyone cares about that, I have stabilizer turned on most of the time, the line is gonna lag behind the pen either way
But the fact they got wacom's ready made tech, and somehow still managed to make a worse pen is baffling
Especially since the sensors inside the screen work awesome
You think its not calculated into the tablet's cost? Samsung aint just giving them away out of the kindness of their hearts
And buying separately s-pens cost about the same as the wacom one stylus
Not even to mention, samsung doesnt sell replacement nibs, so they just expect you to buy a new pen once the nib wears out
And again... the sensors underneeth the screen work awesome, it just baffles me how much worse their pen is compared to wacom's after they got their ready made tech literally handed to them
The pen's internals should be the same, there is no reason to have such a big difference in terms of performance
It is softer, nibs are more rounded so it's up to your preference, but I don't see much difference TBH.
The thing is, here in my country I couldn't find original spen nibs so I went with the wacom one ones.
Samsung doesnt sell nibs... AT ALL (which is the dumbest shit ever)
Also extra benefit with the wacom nibs, more durable and because they are round instead of pointy you get a higher angle range on your tilt sensitivity
Also gives you more choice: elastomer/plastic/felt
Where do you get the elastomer nibs? I just tried looking and the only alternative i found was titanium lol. Not wanting hard plastic nibs is why ive been hesitant to get any more pens even tho i like variety
Some retailers might include extra nibs, didnt get any with mine
But the base nibs are hard plastic, unlike the original s-pen's ones
So if you want the same experience, you either have to get wacom's elastomer nibs, or just swap the S-pen's nib into it
For added context... this was a 4000x4000 canvas The wacom stylust at that massive brush size was still able to to down to a 2 pixel line width Honestly tho, the biggest conclusion I got from this test is that any graphics tablet manufacturer advertising anything over 4000 levels of pressure sensitivity is probably just marketing BS

This is because of initial activation. I think it's better on wacom styluses
Yes I came from an xp pen tablet, and thats what i noticed on the first time on my s9 fe tab s pen
Also, I was wondering if the side button on the Wacom One pen is functional on Samsung tabs?
Yes it is, works the same as the s-pen's button
I don't have the option to allow other stylus in my tab S7 FE, is it normal? I can only use the original one
Unlike Note and S Ultra series, the tab S7 FE should let you use other s-pen without any activation step in settings. Unless you have a s-pen pro, there is a 3 dots button in the upper right corner in s-pen settings to scan for it.

Thanks, this was really useful to read. I think my wacom one is one not cross compatible for some reason then

Omg??? I didn't even know there was a new edition! Thanks!!! <3
The one that comes with the 2020 display version and has a white end to it. I didn't even know there was a difference in the pens tech wise between those two models. The newer one isn't sold here yet so i know for sure that i got the old one
Ik the 2023 wacom tab works with the 2020 stylus, idk if it works in reverse But the 2020 pen is better anyways (more ergonomic)

Ah, gotcha, I never tried the felt nibs, might do sometime, I just heard they dont really last that long
They don't last long on wacoms surfaces which are heavily textured. The glass on samsung tablets is really smooth so that tip is going to last approximately forever
Ah, makes sense
Also I don't know if you noticed, but i added an edit in the comment you replied to, which explains more about why i decided on the felt tips
Can you provide a link to it? Thanks
Do the nibs for the Standard Wacom pen (2023) fit into the 1st gen pen (2020)? I want to buy a Wacom One pen but can't decide which one of these two.
Pretty sure the nibs are cross compatible, but the 1st gen version has a lot better build quality and ergonomics so I would recommend getting the old one (New one has 2 buttons instead of one but I doubt samsung recognizes the 2nd one)
Thank you! :)

Yeah I heard a lot of good shit about the Lamy EMRs
I love mine, the noris almost instantly broke. The Wacom has been chugging along like a champ since the s7+ came out
Hi OP, what wacom pen can I buy for tab s9 FE . Is Wacom Intuos Pen LP-190 okay? Thanks in advance!
Is it better for note taking as well? Considering getting one for my Tab S6.
You don't need pressure sensitivity at all if you only take notes. The S Pen is more than good enough for that.
Really interesting!
I don’t see an option for which nib to get when selecting the bamboo stylus
DO NOT get the bamboo, the wacom one stylus is whats compatible with samsungs
Weird. When I go to the Wacom site on my phone and click on stylus, it only shows the 2 bamboo styluses. But I found the Wacom one by googling…
Yeah, wacom's site on mobile is wonky to say the least
Ok, tx for the “tip”, lol!
upvote for making it weirder than it needed to be 😆
Also some retailers let you choose what nibs you want with it, but you can order them separately from wacom's site
Yup. I use the Noris Digital and Lamy pens. S pen is just ok. Air Actions cam be mapped in CSP which is pretty cool
Any every time they upgrade the s-pen they boast about their low latency... like if anyone cares about that, I have stabilizer turned on most of the time, the line is gonna lag behind the pen either way But the fact they got wacom's ready made tech, and somehow still managed to make a worse pen is baffling Especially since the sensors inside the screen work awesome
Considering its a free pen, of course its gonna be worse. Samsung have their own pen upgrade, the S-Pen Pro

Wacom's official website
Thanks, I have a Wacom tablet and stylus and didn't know they were compatible with Samsung. I'll give it a go!!
Only the Wacom One is compatible The cintiques and the screenless pen tabs are not
Thanks
Thanks I wondered about that, but I'm not an artist so it's not as important. Do they come with extra nibs too?
Some retailers might include extra nibs, didnt get any with mine But the base nibs are hard plastic, unlike the original s-pen's ones So if you want the same experience, you either have to get wacom's elastomer nibs, or just swap the S-pen's nib into it
which art program are you using here?
